We needed four NEW replacement windows (double-paned) and contacted Robert's Glass & Screen based on a referral. Linh (co-owner/installer) came and measured our windows and ordered them - the custom windows were ready in a couple of weeks, and he and his team member Glenn came to install our windows immediately. We are extremely happy with the results. I included the "Before and After" photos. Also, our other existing window screens either had holes or were deteriorating, and we had Linh change the screens, so after he and Glenn had finished installing our windows, he took about 8-10 screen frames with him (to replace at his shop) and he returned in three hours (yep same day!) with the new screens. It's a small place, dirty and unkempt. Proletarian. You enter into a much-used office where piles of papers hide the desk and stacks of dusty window sashes, screens, panes and building material makes you wonder if you're not in the wrong place. But this is it. There is no show room, no fancy tiled gallery of products and services. There are only one or two employees gallantly trying to maintain a manageable hold on a shop offering window glass and screens, tub and shower doors, security guards, sliding glass doors and awnings. Having used this shop several times over the years, I've learned that there is nothing formal about contracting work here, the paper receipt but a byproduct of a firm handshake. Dan and Lin know what you need and with a nod, a smile and a "see ya in a couple days", you can expect your needs satisfied with little regard to profit. There is no middle-man to gouge or coerce, just them and their work, which they seem to love. So if you've come home drunk, couldn't find your keys and kicked the kitchen glass door in*, don't fret yet Chet, see Dan or Lin and ask for tempered glass this time. *I'm not saying this is or is not a personal experience. I had been wanting to replace our old, single pane aluminum frame windows for a while now but thought it would be costly and an ordeal (lots of construction). After breaking our bathroom window, we called Lin and his team at Robert's Glass and Screen Service to replace it. They came out promptly and did such a good job that I asked how much it would cost and how long it would take to replace 13 windows. Upon giving me the estimate and the process, I was sold. However, I did have a few more questions regarding the actual windows and Lin was so great that he came out a second time to answer all my questions and bring additional samples. The actual installation took half a day and cost much less than I anticipated. Lin and his crew were fast, clean and polite. In addition, there were a couple tiny window water valves that were missing from the windows. I would've never have known but Lin is so honest that he told me and came back a few days later to put them in. The double-pane, energy efficient windows look fantastic. I am so happy with the work they did and I will definitely call them with any future window or screen needs! read more

We did a quick price check for some screens we needed replaced at one of the large chain stores whose initials are HD. It was $30 per screen Robert's wanted $17 (cash) and only $12 if we reused our frame. Now we're sportin new screens and we plan to have him do our sliding screen doors next! I went here based solely on peoples yelp reviews. The place was easy to find and there was street parking. I was greeted immediately by someone-dunno who, who listened to what I wanted. It was pretty simple. I brought in a couple old screens and wanted new ones just like them. He told me how much it would be and I pre-paid cash. He then asked if I could go get lost for awhile or come back tomorrow. The place was empty and I hee and hawed till he said he would make them right then and there. As I was waiting in the shop I noticed other peoples new screens were stacked here and there with the prices on them. Everyone elses screen was cheaper than mine and they were bigger. In addition ALL the prices were round numbers 50.00 bucks for 3 screens here, 17.00 for one screen there. Whereas my two screens were 41 and change and yes I paid cash. My screens must have been the Rolls Royce model because they were more than any he had waiting for customers in the shop. But what could I do I already paid and he made them already. I do not mind the messy place, and the service was fine. What I mind is feeling ripped off. My screens were 7-8 bucks more than anyone elses and I really would like to know why. I think he shoulda showed me a few options and told me the prices upfront so I could choose. Anyhoo, I am confident I got the same screens as everyone else-I just paid more. I'm not too pleased because in addition to the price thing one of the screens took 30 min to pop in and bent easily. read more
