I only write reviews when I think a business that I have dealt with is so above the norm that I give them at least a 50+ rating. Paul's Glass falls into this category. We had another company come in to bid on replacing the glass in our living room sliding door. They gave us such a high estimate that we decided to passed on replacing them. I happen to be in a parking lot where I saw a Paul's Glass truck next to me, and I asked the individual if they do sliding glass windows? The answer was yes, and he gave me a business card. They were incredibly reasonable cost wise, definitely experts at their craft, easy to deal with, and very ethical. Their approach on how to replace our glass doors saved us thousands of dollars over the other companies quote. I later found out from others that Paul's Glass has an impeccable reputation! To be honest my experience with this company was a bumpy ride. It started out well and ended well thankfully. I liked that I received a quote quickly and during my first phone call. The quoted price ended up being the exact price too! We scheduled for someone to come and template our table. It was scheduled for a window of 1pm - 4pm. They were a no show. I called after 4 to ask what happened. It turns out that we were never put on the schedule! Mistakes happen of course. We were placed on the schedule for the following day. He arrived on time and measured the table very quickly and was done. I was told on the phone that it would be 2- 3 days to fabricate the glass. The person who measured told me it would be 4- 6 days. I assumed the longer time window would be more accurate. It was exactly a week to the day. I received a phone call to schedule delivery. The day came and the glass arrived. He places it and then goes back to his truck to leave. There are silver scratch marks in one corner! We flagged him down. He came back inside and we showed him the scratches. He said," that is the tempered mark. It shows that the glass is tempered. You didn't ask for that mark? ".Wtf? Who would ask for scratches on their table top? I could maybe understand on a door? Even then, I would rather have an emblem or stamp than ugly scratched. I called the shop, they said they would send it back to the fabricator to have them buff out the scratches. They said it would be back the following week. Of course on delivery day I received a phone call. Surprise, they can't buff out the scratches it has to be remade. I thought it sounded too good to be true. We rescheduled for the new glass to be delivered. I got a call the day of to be told it was on backorder! By some miracle, the following day I received a call that they were on their way to deliver! It was a total rollercoaster. We have our glass. It looks great. Alls well that ends well I guess. read more

After they insisted on pictures of all the windows, I needed replacing so I took pictures and made measurements and emailed it to their secretary, she said she would check with the crew to see if they did that kind of work. I had to call back to follow up after and she said that they actually make those kind of replacements. They sent out their estimator who was not even interested in looking at the job. After looking at a couple of windows and making excuses why they didn't do that kind of thing I figured I didn't want anyone I needed to beg to do the work. I can't say whether he was lazy, not interested in making money, or trying to set things up to where they could convince me. I needed to spend extra money. I had Paul's glass make a small countertop for me. They made it exactly to my specifications and when I got it home I realized that I hadn't measured accurately. I brought it back and they were sooooo nice and helpful and cut it down to the right size while I waited and didn't charge me even though it was my fault. This is a late review but thank you to Paul's Glass for fixing my broken window. Last year, the side of one of my window's frame was falling apart and I couldn't open and close the window anymore. I asked my neighbor for recommendations and they said Paul's Glass was very professional and reasonably priced. I called and scheduled an appointment very quickly. The lady on the phone was very transparent on pricing - including how much it would be if a guy were to fix it at my house vs. if I bring it in to the shop. I wasn't home at the time due to work so my dad facilitated with the work order and said it was very efficient and professionally done. My window is now looking like it's brand new! read more

Pauls did my custom shower glass and door. Easy process from beginning to end. They were able to source hard to find black matte hardware and install within two weeks. The person in the office who took my call was not the least bit concerned when I canceled the appointment - "no worries" was her response. I needed a window replaced in a rental house we own so I called Paul's glass after I already had an estimate from another company. Paul's glass gave me a better price, and I was already familiar with them as a local business so they got the job. So why only 3 stars? First off, the woman I scheduled with in the office could have had a better attitude. She was very curt and I got the feeling that she really didn't care if I hired them or not. I get that when you are flush with work, giving estimates can be a drag. Some people just want the lowest price, and you have to take the time to give an estimate for a job that you may not get anyway, but personality goes a long way to selling the job. They did respond on time, and the installers did an OK job, but it could have been a bit better with the trim. The window was a kitchen window over a sink, and they did have some protection over the sink and counter. Unfortunately a small screw was dropped in the disposal and I got a call the next day for the disposal being jammed. As I'm a licensed plumbing contractor, I took care of the problem, but it could have been an additional expense if I didn't already have the experience and tools to resolve the jam. Bottom line is I recommend them but there is room for improvement. read more

I don't normally write these but could not resist in this case to make a point. In a word, this place is...TERRIBLE! I would give them 0 stars if the system would allow it. Needed a shower glass door replaced and wanted to add a clear glass cover for a pure white lacquer dining room table. In the beginning, the girl that initially took my order said she needed to call me back to set a date for the them to come out and do the estimate. Never called me back. I had to call them again and got no apology. They finally show-up to install the shower door and place the glass top on the white table. The shower door is fine and then I notice the glass top for the table has a green tint/hue to it. Ordered what I thought was a 100% pure and clear glass. Then the guys tell me that there is another glass that is more clear that cost a little bit more! REALLY!?! Now you tell me! They never mentioned any options when they were doing the estimate and didn't bring any glass samples like you would do fabric swatches if this were for drapes or carpet. I was told they couldn't recycle the glass and since it was custom made; I'm now beginning to accept that I'm going to lose money on this. *Side Note: Did I mention that I run a consulting and training business that specializes in teaching Customer Service and Client Relations for industry leading organizations across the United States. It is also of note that I live in a pretty high-end and high-rise condo and was initially referred by someone at the front desk. Anyway, back to the story... Since I ordered the glass in good faith but "clearly" NOT with all the information; I thought a reasonable solution would be to meet half-way and split the cost of the glass itself which was only $95.00. Sam, the manager places me on hold for several minutes and then comes back to tell me that he is not willing to share ANY cost and that they gave me exactly what I ordered. That response told me everything I needed to know about him as person, leader and organization. Seriously! It was all very "clear" to me now. The less than friendly girl that answers their phone. The lack of follow-through, lack of empathy and professionalism. Yep, this is exactly the stuff I teach my clients NOT TO DO! As you can imagine, this is obviously not about dollar amount, but rather a matter of principle. I was shocked and amazed that this Sam guy would dig his heels in on what would amount to $47.50! I am prefacing this review with the fact that I did not get work done by Paul's Glass. This review is specially related to the terrible customer service I experienced over the phone on Monday May 14 at 0839. I called to inquire about an estimate for installing new glass in two of my bathrooms In a vacation rental. The woman who answered the phone was rude, short, and should NOT be allowed to answer calls. The property that needs the glass is a vacation rental so there are only certain days and times that we can get someone in to do the estimate. She said they could only give me a range of 4 hours, and could not give me a specific appointment time. I asked if there was any way we can make an exception because of our rental situation. She said no. I said I'm sorry that just won't work and she hung up on me. I know the economy is great right now and there is plenty of work, but have some respect and know that when the economy tanks again, you need all the customers You can get. They could have had a lifetime customer. Too bad. Imagine how many potential customers this woman has driven off. read more

Receptionist took order from me on December 7th - explained I had an important event and needed glass for December 18th. No indication at all that there may be a delay or that they were having issues with supply chain. I was told to come back in a week later. I did and glass wasn't ready but was assured it would be ready before 18th of December and that they would call to let me know it was ready. I missed a call from I assume was the receptionist as I was traveling. When I got back to Long Beach, I drove over to the store to pick up glass. Was told it was back ordered for another two weeks and that she was calling me to tell me it wasn't ready and why hadn't I answered her call - I guess I work for her?!? I then said they missed the window and to cancel the order, then said hold that - have the owner call me on my cell. Never received a call. Waited over two weeks and called back and spoke to Sam - he said I cancelled the order, which I assured him I did not. Meet your deadlines or don't give delivery expectations you can't make. This has delayed me over 30 days and I have to start all over again. Arrogant and poor customer service! Will not be doing any business with them again, over $110 dollars - stupid! read more

Ready for a before and after ... just finished with a custom project for my front room, aka "The Adult Room." The before is a tree stump we removed from a customer's home 2 years ago. I called dibs on it not even knowing I would be moving the next year. It sat in the backyard until my move. I used a wire brush on it, had my good friend and local "Miracle Man" Ray Gomez stain, seal it and install the standoffs. Then the real magic - Took it to Paul's Glass in Long Beach where I asked them to use their imagination and create a top for it. Very disappointed in the way they handled my situation. I made an apt for them to fix a broken window today between 9am-12. I was waiting since 9am. Around 11:30 I called because no one had arrived. They claimed they called me and left me a voicemail to reschedule but I had no missed call or voicemail. The lady on the phone was very rude and gave me no solution. I left work early to be there at the time they gave me and her response was "oh well". Very mean and a huge waste of my day. I will start by saying I like a company that 1) answers the phone when called, 2) can provide a basic estimate quickly 3) follows through on date and time expectations. Oh, and the job was done great also. No job too small for Paul! I had made several calls to get an estimate on a sagging frameless shower door repair. On the spot I was provided an estimate for the service. By using their website to contact them, I was able to approve the service. Within 24 hours of reaching out, I was contacted by a very polite attendant to set up the service within 72 hours. I chose a date and time window, before which I was ACTUALLY contacted by the repair tech while en route. One would be surprised at how often this simple step is overlooked in the repair business.
