Amazing wines, mediocre service, excellent food, beautiful buildings with weird furniture. Worth visiting. Robert Hall had our favorite wines by far for our most recent trip to Paso. We all stocked up on several bottles. Decor is a bit weird - the building itself is very Restoration Hardware but the furniture was a bit Facebook marketplace. We also had lunch here - the food came out quick and was delicious. The sandwiches were amazing but the cheese plate was very underwhelming. Overall, a nice spot in Paso with great food! read more

We came here at 2:00 on a Friday. It seems like most wineries in the area require a reservation, but this one was easy as we were able to online. We were also running late and were able to change our reservation from 1:30 to 2:00 and it seemed like there was a good amount of availability. When we got there there were about 3 other groups there. It was a warm day, so everyone was inside. The tasting room was a decent size space with very high ceilings, which made the space feel open. We had 4 of the cheaper tastings, with the cheaper charcuterie plate. It was a fun experience having the cheese pairing with the wine. The wines were good, but nothing special. Unexpected stop for us, but positively surprised by its service and overall atmosphere. We were planning to go to a different winery, but on the drive we saw the Robert Hall and decided to give it a try. Positively surprised that the owners are Minnesotans, felt very homey having just arrived there from Minnesota. 1. Wine tasting They have a tasting menu with 5 different wines and you can sample and order your favorite. They don't really provide snack/ crackers etc unlike some other wineries. Having tried the flights, we bought several bottles and I intend to keep one of them for my cellar to age. They don't have food or other attached services such as restaurant, we did have our own picnic food, which we were welcomed to use their patio. 2. Wine architecture As I am doing research on wine architecture these days, their building was interesting to me. They have nice tall and many arches, backside of the building with stair shaped fountain is a good back drop for a wedding venue. Easily a good place to host your wedding. View of the vineyard is very relaxing as they are located more uphill than the surrounding area. I found this stop to be very romantic and having had a bottle obviously made me observe things in much positive light :) In case you feel too romantic and horny, don't feel bad, you're not alone. We did see a couple having a quickie. All in all, it is a great place to stop by. read more

They have a wine and food pairing that right now is $50 for 5 wine tastes paired with food. The food servings are generous and excellent and the best deal in the valley right now. When my husband told me we were going to this, I was dubious because in Napa, 5 tastings often means 5 single bites of food. At Robert Hall it means a beautifully prepared scallop w/ a thoughtfully pared sauce, a small duck confit toast, a quarter of a 5 spice Cornish game hen with forbidden rice and 3 slices of super tender, perfectly trimmed and cooked WAGYU tri tip with a mild quadruple cream blue cheese sauce over fingerlings, followed by the largest and most delicious raspberry powder dusted SEMI sweet truffle. It was so good that we're thinking about returning before we leave Paso. Rosemary was excellent at taking us through our pairings and explaining why the wines were chosen and telling us what we could expect. She anticipated our every need without hovering. The Winery is a beautiful property. The tasting room area is very nice also, but I felt that they are a little stingy with their pours. Most other Vineyards that I've been to, they give you a little more than here. We tasted 4 wines and for the first time ever, I came out not liking any of their wines. Normally when I go wine tasting, there's usually at least 1 wine that either my wife and I enjoy and end up taking home a bottle, but here, there was nothing we liked enough to purchase. Just to make things clear, the 3 stars is for the amount they give you as part of the tasting. The service and property was fantastic. We booked this early for a 2-for-1 tasting special and was so happy with the outcome. Fascinating brick building built solid and amazing grounds around it. Amy our host did a great job and our favorite selection was the Rose! Can't wait to see the finished fire pits with the spectacular view of the vineyards. Almost looks like an amphitheater in the backyard for concerts. I was Overwhelmed with joy to see the Santa Maria grill for barbecuing outside big parties!. Robert Hall provides a lovely experience for wine tasting. Appointments are required and seating is very much spaced out to ensure social distancing. They have a beautiful patio where everyone is seated for their tasting. It costs $15 pp for wine tasting with the amount credited with the purchase of 2 bottles of wine. Each tasting consists of 5 carafes of wine and a bottle of cold water. They deliver the flight of wine all at once with minimal explanation. Descriptions of each wine are written on a card. There were two people taking care of all the guests so they didn't have much time to stop and chat with each table about each wine when we tried them. However, when they were able to stop by the staff was friendly and able to answer our questions. Their set-up is great for those that wish to taste wines at their own pace and in their own order. I ended up purchasing some of their Cavern Select Meritage. Cheese platters are offered for sale, as are wines by the glass. Sanitation measures are in place and the winery did a great job making everyone feel comfortable. read more

GORGEOUS! Like I've said before, this place is absolutely beautiful. I remember the first time I came here, I thought to myself, "This would be a great place to have a wedding!" A year and a half later, here I am attending two of my close friends' wedding. The ceremony was out on the patio, overlooking the vineyards. The bride came through the tasting room, walked down the stairs, down the aisle and met her groom on the patio. After, there was the appetizer & drinks hour near the fountains. It was cold the night we were there, so I didn't spend too much time there. The reception was indoors and it was fabolous. I think if it was empty, it would still have been nice in there. Throw a little decoration, the room is stunning. My friends had ~130 guests and the room was filled. That is proobably the maximum it could hold. It has a dance floor in the middle. He ended up buying the meritage My friend didn't like the dessert wines here. None of the reds stood out for me. The sommelier was enthusiastic and friendly. We came here with a group of 16 on a winery tour and had a wonderful experience! They had banquet tables set up for us in a private room with our lunches that were delivered all ready to eat! They poured our tastings while we ate lunch and then took us down into their barrel room to teach us about their wines and the local happenings that take place there. The grounds are gorgeous and HUGE! They have beautiful trees throughout. It is definitely a great spot to come with a group. I also enjoyed their wines! I would come here again, for sure. This review is for their "Take Home Tasting Kit" that I received as a gift. It contains 5 tastings for 2 in glass bottles and it costs $30. I liked their 2017 Cavern Select Zinfandel and the 2017 Cavern Select Cabernet Sauvignon. I did not like any of the other 3 wines included in the box. The tasting kit does not tell you that you must enjoy the wine within 72 hours of purchase. The to-go tasting box from Mitchella Winery (2 minutes from down the road) included this information, a discount code and overall just a nicer box. However, Robert's tasting bottles are bigger for $10 more. If you like a wine from your tasting kit, a full bottle will cost you $32- $54. read more

The grounds, building and tasting room are first class stunningly beautiful. This is probably the most expensive looking winery and tasting room in the entire Paso Robles area. Let me start by saying that the staff is the best service you'll ever experience. They go out of their way to make every experience last forever. My brother planned his proposal on 6/23/2019 and it was more than expected. Since the first day we were there to inquire about the location, Jesse helped us all the way and he is a true Rockstar. If I was just rating our pourer, I would give 10 stars because Reed was FANTASTIC! He is super friendly, very knowledgeable, and doesn't just boringly rattle off memorized wine info. He gives his take on the wines, foods he's actually paired with, and is really personable. My mom and I really enjoyed our wine experience with him. (I hope you get back to surfing soon too!) Reed recommended the California club and the duck oil french fries. Both were delicious and HUGE portions! The fries are the kind you just can't stop eating. If you order this, it's definitely enough for 2. The wines, to me, were average. I really loved the Zinfandel though. It was yummy and paired really well with our lunch. The others weren't anything spectacular but were all decent. The greeter on Thursday 5/12/22 was not very warm or friendly. I admit that I was expecting to not like the wines at Robert Hall. Fortunately I was pleasantly surprised. We sampled two tastings; I certainly only sampled since I was driving... but the pours were extremely generous. The server was knowledgable and friendly, and managed serving several groups at the same time with ease. The location was your standard beautiful view wine tasting facility with a collection of gift shop items around for purchase. My joke is that if you feel guilty about not buying a bottle of bad wine, you can always buy an $8 bag of pasta... but no need to go to the guilt gifts here. With two tastings we explored wines off the main list, and the server was very happy to help. We left with 5 bottles of red: a Malbec, Cab Sauv, Petit Verdot and 2 Petit Sirah. The server pitched their wine club membership to us but we declined. After our trip, with the power of hindsight, I should not have purchased the Petit Verdot here; the PV at Fratelli Perata was ten times better! Detailed notes: Rose is good but not worth it $18 Petit sirah is good. Fades about halfway through a bit. Petit verdot is kinda bitter, but fruity. Worth a bottle. Cab 2014 is good, keeps going with long lasting flavor. Malbec is not as complex but tasty and long lasting; sweeter than Cab and also long lasting. read more

Robert Hall has a massive tasting room, too me it is too massive and I have not been impressed by the pouring staff there on the times that I have stopped in. To me they are a bit too mass produced to my taste so the price point is a little high as well. I have found that smaller boutique wineries are better in Paso so I usually only stop in here when they have something going on at a festival weekend that sounds good or when someone wants to visit a nice tasting room. read more
