A strait forward no frills bar with friendly bartenders and patrons. We spent a few hours here and enjoyed the night. I met a lot of employees and everyone was beyond friendly. We came in one weekend afternoon to shoot some pool after having run into the owner down in Rocky Point some time ago at his other nice bar with the same namesake. We also saw what he did to renovate the famed Nugget into a modern Mexican Cantina in Maryvale, so what could go wrong. First off the bartender who was a younger lady seemed more interested in her phone than taking orders and seemed a little bummed to work but I dont blame her I dont want to work. I can say the drinks were reasonable and they did have seltzer options for the wifey. The ambience was pretty white trash even for the westside and that's coning from white trash growing up on the westside. They do have two pool tables that were well taken care of but ac was spotty depending on where you stand. They also had smoking which was new to me outside of legion hauls and it got unbearable when two people lit up at once. However, the hypocrite that I am thought it was cool that I could vape like a teenage white girl without hiding it from the gestapo so kudos to them for pushing the boundaries. Nonetheless cigarette smoke is nasty and still dont understand why people think others want to huff their blow back. Maybe im allergic or something. Now from the rumor meal I gleaned that the owner has a dog that runs freely and I heard others brought their dogs. They do have a back patio where I saw a guy let the dog out to do his business, around that same time my wife found a dog turd in the corner of the bar which grossed her out. I gave a few thoughts about picking it up, but a man has to have a line in the sand on cleaning up another man or dogs crap. We shot quite a few games of pool mainly cause we had the bartender turn on the juke box in-between her youtube videos and put in a few songs only to find out there was a queue jammed up that was 15 tracks long. I have seen some reviews that the bathrooms weren't clean but in this case it wasnt true other than the aforementioned doggy poo corner. They do have darts and I must say great billiards tables with a lot of travel. I also had a former coworker and huge fan of Aguilas tell me they have a cool basement at nights for added festivities which sounded really cool and gave me valley bar or downtown Cornish vibes if they can pull that off. Honestly aside from the cigarette smoke and my wife getting skeeved out by doggie doody I could have over looked the sub par service. Maybe ill go back for some basement raves on the weekend and change my perception on the place cause life is to short to just have one bad experience. I felt Jessica the bartender went above and beyond to do her job and make you feel almost like family. The last time my bf and I stopped in we only planned to stay for one drink because we had things to take care of. We never get out of line, and we dont overstay our night out ever. Upon leaving the bar the last time we were approached very rudely by a gentleman looking for a lottery ticket he misplaced. We did not even use the restroom on this visit, and explained that to the other customer and apparently he had jumped to conclusions and thought we took his misplaced lotto ticket, and him and his buddy waited for us to leave the bar. Once we walked out the door, this man had a bad attitude and started making accusations about the lottery ticket he misplaced. I told the guy that he should go inside and ask "Jessica" the bartender to see the video of the spot that my bf and I were sitting at, and then he too will find out that we never left our seats until we were leaving. At that point I then stated maybe he could then apologize for the rude accusations he was making. At that point the other guy was pretty drunk and not wanting to hear anything we said, he only wanted to fight and he made it pretty clear when he went after my bf, and they got into it in the parking lot! After he was done with his bickering with my bf he came after me because I told him to make sure to view that camera and when he finds his lottery ticket later,he could apologize to us. And the guy was still very aggressive, and he even shoved me down in the parking lot. By that time my bf was coming to protect me and we just left the bar. Upon showing up a few days later, "Jay" was bartender and told us we were {86'd} from the bar and upon speaking to others that were there that day they even compared notes, and they found the guy's lottery ticket stuck between the toilet and the wall and I am very upset and hurt that we are treated as the unruly one's, and we only defended ourselves. I was told that this was the premier Furry Bar in the Valley of the Sun, but now I feel that someone was playing a cruel joke on me, because I was the only one dressed head to toe in, what I refer to as "Fantasy Gear". Truth be told, I identify as a Unicorn, but with a severed horn. (Nasty hot-tub jet accident). Well, I had my blinders on, so I was ready to just prance out the door, when one of the "Humans" offered me a Pink Pussy. I was taken aback and flattered!! Turns out it was a shot. Still good though. Anyhoo. They asked me to sing Karaoke, but I was a little hoarse. I finished my drink and sugar-footed to the door. For what could've been a nightmare experience, ended up being quite "Nnnneighhh-borly". They accepted me for who I was. We were greeted by a friendly server and quickly got us our drinks. This is a great sports bar with a good amount of large screen TVs. The food was good and the prices were decent. When the ASU/UA game was finally on, they put the audio for the game and the place started to get busy. I can't imagine how busy this place would be during the NFL game if the cardinals were playing . The place is located near the stadium and the traffic has to be crazy. Overall a good place to go.

I mean "dive bar" as an absolute compliment... let's start there…read more I had been eyeing Ain't Nick's for a while and finally worked up the gumption to wander in and check it out because I heard the magic words: karaoke every night. As a karaoke lover, obviously I had to investigate. First impression? Bigger and nicer inside than I expected! Two pool tables right when you walk in (and rumor has it they're only $1.25 a game... hello 90s, nice to see inflation apparently skipped pool ), plenty of seating, tables around the bar, and just a solid neighborhood bar setup. The bar itself was pretty full when I arrived, and the only open seat was directly in front of the taps (not exactly my chosen throne), so I figured I'd grab a table. Except before I even got that far, someone struck up a conversation: "First time here?" And somehow within minutes I had new friends. Him and his girl were genuinely the sweetest, and that turned into meeting even more people. The vibe was just easy... people actually talking to each other, introducing themselves, and being welcoming. The bartender was attentive and made a bomb Shirley Temple. One may have been approximately 73% grenadine, but honestly who doesn't need a full-blown sugar rush when karaoke is happening and the vibes are immaculate? The entertainment situation is also solid. Karaoke every night, trivia on at least one night (not sure which, but I'm told trivia kicks things off and then karaoke takes over), pool tables, and a patio area outside with games like giant Jenga, extra seating, and separate music playing. So if karaoke isn't your thing (who hurt you?) you can escape outside and still hang out. I didn't eat, but the food coming out looked GOOD. Not sad "we threw frozen stuff in a fryer and called it dinner" bar food, more like amped-up bar food. I also heard from multiple people that the food is legit, so clearly I need to investigate that next. Location-wise, it's probably an Uber spot for me and not somewhere I'm making a late-night solo trek home from, but I'm told Ubers are easy to grab. Overall? I walked in curious and left with my heart full. Good conversations, kind people, fun karaoke, and a way better night than I ever expected. I don't know if I'll become a regular, but when I get that urge to go "people out in the world," Ain't Nick's is officially on the list. My heart was tickled.
