Right to the point! Food....10 Service......10+ Ambiance....10 I live in Goodyear Az. This is a bit of a drive for us and well worth it. This is our go to place for any celebration. We have been coming here for years, never disappoints! Appetizers...Stuffed Jalapeños, I'm 62, avoid spicy food, first time ever having these, loved them! just the right heat, flavors wake up your taste buds. Add the green chili pork stew, and you have hit a home run. First time having these Duroc pork chop.....how can a pork chop be this good? This isn't your grocery store pork chop. This is the elite pork chop, with apple chutney and sits on sweet potato mash, amazing! The atmosphere is so nice, dark with soft lighting , relaxing no hurry. Service is what you would hope it to be! You will pay more here, just like any high end steakhouse, and you won't mind!
Met another couple for dinner and I made a reservation using the restaurant's reservation site Open Table. I received an email to confirm my reservation and we were good to go! We were running a little late so I had our friends check-in at the hostess stand and they gave my name for our reservation which was confirmed and they were sat at a table. We then arrive a short while later and I approached the hostess and stated that we had a reservation and our friends already arrived, checked-in for our reservation and were seated. The hostess asks what name the reservation was under and I tell her my complete name and she said she doesn't have it. I explained that I have a confirmation email and she waves her tablet at me about 4 feet away so I can't see the details and says "See! I don't have it." I replied, my friends are already here under the reservation so can I just go find them? She replied yes. I don't understand the interaction when my friends clearly checked in already using my name for the reservation. It was a discussion that wasn't necessary and did not give our first visit to the Roaring Fork a good impression. Once we found our friends after searching through the entire restaurant, we found them and sat down. We were immediately approached my our server who was very attentative and gave great service. We were told about a 3-course menu with multiple selections and I decided to get the New York Strip. I enjoyed my cesar salad and then the New York Strip was delivered. It was prepared according to my request, medium, and I checked by cutting right down the middle. I noticed it was a little tough to cut even with the steak knife I provided but the inside looked as expected so I continued on. What I was surprised to find was the amount of gristle on the New York Strip. There is nothing like having to pull food out of your mouth (several times) at a public place because you can't possible chew or consume it. For $80 (salad, New York Strip, sides and desert) I expected better. Unfortunately, my experience leads me to leave a 3 star review.
My first time here after living in Arizona for 10 years! It is so warm and cozy inside. Has a rustic western chic vibe with wood fired ovens and a huge outdoor patio. For apps we got the lamb fondue which was super tender and unique. Dipping meet in cheese? Literally nothing better. Then we also got the green chili pork stew which is a MUST try! Not too spicy and full of flavor. Also, great for sharing as you fill it in the buttery tortillas. The filet was seriously one of the best I've ever had in Arizona. It has a nice shallot butter crust and it was cooked PERFECTLY medium rare. This was a highlight. The pork chop is huge and has a nice sweetness to it. The meat wasn't dry either...it pretty much tasted like the best bacon I've ever had LOL Everyone must get the green chili Mac n cheese. Not spicy at all just Smokey and tangy and full of cheese but shockingly not that heavy. The pecan pie was unreal. Gooey and sweet but the crust was still super flakey. The brownie skillet was soft in the middle which is how it always should be. Their known for their frozen huckleberry margarita which is a treat in its own but it's not too icey they definitely don't skip out on the tequila. Rachel was our server. She's been there for awhile so you know that they treat their staff well. She was super knowledgeable and honest about certain menu items. I also spoke with the manager, Matt, who was very welcoming and seemed very proud of his restaurant (as he should be). Overall highly reccomend it here. Everything exceeded my expectations. I will absolutely be returning!
Roaring Fork in Oldtown is a must try! It fully embraces American Western Cuisine utilizing an open flame grill, and it's amazing! This place is great for a date night, celebration, business meal or start to the night out. The service is professional and gets every detail right! The steak is incredible! They cook it to absolute perfection & the seasoning they use is a game changer! I'm a huge chimichurri fan and they get it right; the chipotle Demi is a great accompaniment! No surprise, the salmon is also cooked perfectly try and the Asian flare makes this dish fantastic! You can never go wrong with getting cornbread on the side; be sure to try this spot out!
My girlfriend and I ended up coming to Roaring Fork two nights in a row because it was that good. The first night, I had the ribeye and she ordered the fried chicken with gravy and mashed potatoes -- both were outstanding. The steak was perfectly cooked and flavorful, and her chicken was crispy, rich, and pure comfort food. We shared the Brussels sprouts and the truffle fries, which were both incredible sides and easily big enough to split. I also had an Old Fashioned that was well-balanced and paired perfectly with the meal. We couldn't stop talking about it, so we came back the next night. This time we shared the "Big Ass Burger" and the wings, and somehow still saved room for dessert -- the skillet chocolate pecan brownie, which was absolutely decadent and the perfect way to finish the meal. Beyond the food, the ambience here really makes it special. Inside feels warm, cozy, and romantic, while the outdoor views are beautiful and add to the whole experience. Definitely one of those places that feels both elevated and comfortable at the same time. Two nights in a row says it all -- we'll absolutely be back.
One of my wife's favorites . We always get a table . They do have a great happy hour but I equate that to a geriatric running of the bulls. I've never seen so many older people (I'm 67) fighting and squeezing to get in the bar to save a few bucks on a burger. I love a deal but I can afford dinner at a nice table rather than fighting for a spot. My wife and I took our daughter and son in law for a nice leisurely Christmas Eve dinner. Great food, service and ambiance. Perfect night!
Nice, casual ambiance during happy hour. I feel like the bar staff does not have time to educate newbies. For a first timer, I didn't know where the restrooms were. And when I asked the bartender, he started laughing like it was a joke. So I would recommend giving a little grace to those that are new to the facility. The food (a burger)arrived trainable and it was delicious. There is accessible parking as well as entrance.
We celebrated my wife's birthday with her mom list last Friday and had a great server and lovely time. I enjoyed the roasted duck, my wife got the 8oz. filet and her mom the halibut with generally good feedback all around. For the duck, the the 'sauce' included felt more like a relish or jam, i thought it needed to be more viscous in order to coat the duck a bit better. The filet is cooked over wood fire and you can really taste it, delicious! I thought the bill at the end was a bit shocking considering we were only 3 people, it felt a bit pricey. However, i'd come back for special occasions!
Kaileigh was our server and did an amazing job, we sat on the patio Category 6 Lemonade Smirnoff Citron, raspberry and orange vodka, chambord, lime, Huckleberry lemonade Delicious, refreshing, good blend of liquors Peach Palmer Ketel One peach and Orange blossom, lemonade, iced tea I don't know if it's just the vodka, but I don't taste peach, I don't taste orange, I just taste water Queso con Puerco Green chili pork, red pepper relish, corn chips I could eat a vat of this, really delicious, an amazing amount of pork, good heat Big ass burger Poblano, cheddar, bacon, lettuce, (no tomato for us), onion, pickles, Chipotle mayo, we ordered it cooked medium, comes with fries The burger patty doesn't taste like there was any seasoning used, we asked for medium and got closer to rare, the burger patty to bun ratio was so far off the patty immediately slid out the back side of the bun with the first bite, The bacon was there but in name only, I didn't detect even a hint of poblano, we even tried to salvage it by putting the queso puerco on it, but it was not going to help We sent it back and decided to get the crispy chicken bites appetizer The fries were amazing, seasoned well, crispy on the outside, the Chipotle mayo was delicious Crispy chicken bites appetizer Right off the bat the presentation was okay, but it was very obvious that some of the pieces had been fried much longer than others based on the color of the breading, after taking the first bite it was immediately obvious these were not seasoned chicken bites that were fried, these were basic Sysco chicken bites that had been fried, and then tossed with seasoning salt, likely some food service Nashville hot seasoning, and the ranch just tasted like something from a jar These went back as well, after speaking to the manager I've been considering coming here for years, and I was really looking forward to it To say that the food missed the mark is an understatement, sadly, this has been my experience several times in the Scottsdale road corridor Obviously not recommending, not returning
Roaring Fork 2-4-1 holiday special! Wow! Sign up for their email to enjoy this amazing deal! Two for the Price of one meal. Even without that special, the food here is amazing. The slow roasted chicken was melt in your mouth lovely and so flavorful. The cornbread stuffing was light and not overdone. Huckleberry syrup is dangerously addictive. Ask for a splash in your tea, lemonade, margarita. I had it in my Arnold Palmer and the the delicious decadent cheesecake. I will be back for the lamb fondue appetizer and the cheesecake on non 2-4-1 days!
Birthday dinner for one of my besties and it was fantastic! Great table and menu selections are thoughtful. The Envious OF was good but somewhat ordinary compared to the rest of the choices. My pork tenderloin was immaculate. Often anything bacon wrapped is hit or miss if both are cooked correctly. Crispy bacon and tender medium pork loin was on point! The cornbread appetizer was enjoyed by all. Pecan pie was served with Butter pecan ice cream-a very nice surprise. Travis was our server. He wrangled us pretty well.
Came here for date night and left pretty underwhelmed. We had reservations but were first seated right next to the kitchen super hot from the lamps and way too much traffic to be enjoyable not exactly the vibe we want for a night out. We did move tables, thankfully. I started with a bartenders specialty jalapeño margarita no presentation flavor was ok! Just disappointing. My husband's Shrimp and jalapeño grits were tasty but the shrimp were small and the portion didn't quite match the 28.00 price tag. I ordered the Cedar plank salmon looked great, tasted like nothing zero cedar flavor bland soybutter just overall forgettable, green beans were cooked well but came with ends still on, small thing but annoying. Service was good our waitress was nice so no complaints there. Honestly so many great restaurants in Scottsdale this one just doesn't stand out we won't be going back.. The 2 stars are 1 for our waitress and 1 for the ambience..
It was the last place my family and I visited during our trip. A couple of friends joined us for dinner. It was a beautiful interior, very rustic but hip. It was cool and dark, and the tables and seating were very comfortable. It heightened the experience. Our server was excellent. She was very patient and let us catch up with our friends over some outstanding cocktails. I had the Old Fashioned. It was so good, I had two. We ordered 3 amazing appetizers - The chicken wings, the queso, and the Jalapeño poppers wrapped in bacon. Everything was outstanding. Dinner entrees were equally fantastic. Two of my kids had the "big ass burger", and the third had the fried chicken. One of our guests and my wife had the shrimp and grits and were very happy. I ordered the 22 oz., bone-in rib-eye steak cooked medium rare to rare. It was perfectly prepared and so amazingly juicy. It was one of the best steaks that I have had anywhere. I ate every bite and gnawed on the bone. We also ordered the street corn and the truffled fries as sides, and we were VERY happy with all of them. The food was simply the best we had in Scottsdale. I do not know what the final cost was, as our guests picked up the bill. I do not believe the prices I remember from the menu were out of line for the quantity and quality of the food. If you want an elegant night out and have amazing food, service, and drinks, then go here.
I hadn't been here in at least 15 years. So I thought I would give it a try and I must say I was a little disappointed. First off the place is beautiful! When I walked in, there's a beautiful roaring fire. I sat at the bar and received excellent service. I think the Bartender's name was Tony And he was really awesome. I started with the chicken tortilla soup. Let's just say I've had better. I actually make better chicken tortilla soup, but that's another story. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't the greatest. It needed to be a little warmer, but I still enjoyed it. I decided to order the duck off of Tony's recommendation. The flavor of the duck was really good, but the skin was not crispy at all. In fact, the skin was very rubbery, which was a great disappointment. However, Toni was awesome and he decided to take the soup off of my bill since I was not happy with the Duck. He did say something interesting to me, though. He said that they see the duck in the afternoon and then I guess they cook it according to order. That seemed weird, but that could also explain why the skin was rubbery. It's kind of hard to heat up anything that seared without compromising the crust. I cook a lot so I expect a lot from restaurants. I probably would go back and try the big ass burger because I heard that's very very good! Overall, a nice place good service but they need to work on cooking duck properly!. Oh, I almost forgot! I ordered the smoked wings and brought them home to my husband. Now he is a wings official and he said the wings were extremely dry. He actually ended up throwing away the wings, which is something that he has never in his life done ! I haven't been here in several years, pre yelp elite days. Today they are going to get their accolades as deserved. Firstly, I am a Happy Hour honk for this place. We got their early, because we know the deal. The bar area fills up due to it's popularity. When you walk in, you are greated with a pleasant smoky smell. The place is a steak/seafood grill type restaurant. The decor is very southwest and fancyish. Don't come here looking like a bum. Food wise, I was here for the Green Chili Pork and the burger, on the happy hour menu. Green Chili Pork, I have tried to duplicate at home, but could not seem to get it right. The flavor, the tender meat, the cheesy goodness, it ticks all my big back boxes. The burger is a good hunk of meat and will fill up the heartiest of appetites. The sleeper were the wings. Holy portion and they were just delicious. Must get with the other items. The wine is good for a deal. The wife had the red blend and it was pleasure for any tastes. I didn't take any food pics, because I was starving, but there are plenty of examples of what I spoke on already. Val was our server, and was friendly and attentive. I would always come here when in Scottsdale. It is such a deal and good quality, that it's foolish not to visit when here. Keep up the great work and mark of excellence. read more

SENTRY - WATCHING RESTAURANTS 4800 N Scottsdale Road Scottsdale, AZ 85251 I've been a restaurant critic for more than 19 years. I take this very seriously and try to be as objective as possible in my reviews. Three of us went to dinner during Restaurant Week. Upon arrival we were seated immediately. Our server Alyssa kept asking if "we" wanted this and that. I had no idea that she was part of our party. We all ordered off the Restaurant Week menu and all started off with the Caesar Salad. Unfortunately, it was washed but not dried and as a result was swimming in watered down dressing. For main course, companion #1 ordered the 8 oz Filet medium and was brought rare. After sending it back the same meat was cooked again and brought back. Companion #2 and I both ordered the Duck Breast. We were both served over cooked breasts with almost raw shaved Brussel Sprouts. The sour cherry glaze was non-existent, and the Green Chile Mac & Cheese was a bland green gummy blob that neither of us could get down. On to desserts. Companion #1 ordered Pecan Pie and was brought a inch thick slice of what was purported to be pecan pie but was like no other pecan pie any of us had ever seen. Devoid of flavor and lacking the most basic of fillings. Companion #2 ordered the Ancho Chocolate Torte. While that this was Ancho Chocolate was beyond doubt, there was an underlying flavor that just could not be covered up. For myself, I ordered the Huckleberry Cheesecake on a Graham Cracker Crust. I was brought a frozen disk of what looked like Safeway Cheesecake that was nigh on impossible to cut into. As for the huckleberries, I never found them. Sanitation - The restroom was a mess with cleaning supplies out in the open and a can of drano in the handicap stall. Black light inspection revealed stains or urine on the seat and floor. Service - Our wait person did a horrible job of table waiting. She was more interested in putting the food on the table as fast as possible than anything else. Turning tables is important but not at the expense of eating guests. We were seated near the door to the outside dining area and the door was propped open allowing flies to dine at their leisure on customers' food. Awwww...My family came here for a vacation in Scottsdale area and, as Minnesotans, it was a wonderful escape to the sun. Enuf 'bout that! This restaurant...We originally had reservations to a "tourist trap" $$$$$$$$ rated price wise restaurant, which I am sure would be good food? Instead, I looked for a restaurant that was known for great service, a Southwestern American flare, a variety of dishes in an accesible area. After looking at about 20+ restaurants (you know what I mean...many tabs open on browser of a myriad of suggested restaurants, looking at and comparing menus and reviews...), I settled on Roaring Fork. Located in a corporate/ business setting, pretentious was NOT the style of this restaurant: rather, great service and friendliness was!!! **(ABOUT THE ACTUAL RESTAURANT AND NOT THE BORING PRETEXT!!)** We sat on the outside porch area, because it was so nice outside, even though we were originally reserved for an in dining room table (I WILL get to food!!). Super easy and no problem to go outside. We started with the skillet cornbread and queso con puerco. Okay. If I were to be stuck on a desert island, I would choose these two dishes to live off for eons. The cornbread was airy, with a good texture of the corn, and not dense or overly drying when eating. Beautiful! Art from their heart, so I definitely ate it!! The queso con puerco...neither my sister nor brother in law eat pork..but they were scooping up the dish and fighting for the last morsel. Creamy, well balanced and with a nice "kick" and acidity to balance out with the green chili and salsa verde. I got the Shrimps and grits (legit after the wonderfully patient server waited for me to debate and decide between the many great choices!!!!). The shrimp was perfectly cooked, and grits were smooth enough with that "texture" to accompany the smooth, sweet corn butter with chorizo oil. My brother in law raved about the Prime bone-in ribeye (he would not let us try...and he is one of the most food generous peoples I know!). My sister got the Buttermilk chicken. Again, I was not allowed to try, since she gobbled it up! Server was EXTREMELY knowledgable about the menu and dishes, and it was a great dinner out. So why not 5 Stars? Because I reserve 5 stars for truly unique "you could not get this anywhere else but this restaurant" dishes. For me, 4 stars equates to "so good, you need to come here if you are looking for ____ type of cuisine to be quality!. read more

Decided to go out for dinner in Scottsdale and have had pretty good experiences with going to parties at The Roaring Fork. It was a weeknight so we receded immediately and decided to sit outside. They do have a fairly nice patio on the side of the building. The service was very good the restaurant was clean Little on the expensive side but the food was well prepared and worth it. We will definitely be returning for a meal sometime in the future. read more

I went here while in town for work and was looking for a good spot for a large group. I made a reservation which I highly recommend because it was busy. It's located next to a bunch of office building so I questioned how good it would be. To start, the service was excellent. Our waitress was super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu items. For apps, we had the cornbread and smoked chicken wings. The wings were good but the cornbread was out of this world! It's a must try. For my entree, I had the trout amandine. It was really good but I do wish it came with a starch. Overall, the food was great and the ambiance was cozy and classy. read more

The place was packed when we came in for dinner on a weekday. After being seated we found out that they actually have a happy hour from open until close all summer long until Labor Day so I'm looking forward to coming back for that! Now for the food review... I forgot the name of the stew that my son ordered but it was an appetizer and a Mexican dish with flour tortillas, I ordered the BL T lettuce wedge which was huge and delicious, we ordered the chicken wings and I normally don't eat any of those but they looked and tasted great so I had a couple. It was a huge plate of wings. For dinner, I ordered the trout which was delicious, my son and his girlfriend had the fried chicken and hamburger. My daughter had the shrimp and grits. The dessert menu looked great but we felt ready to explode after all that food and huge portions. I will definitely be back and I would recommend this restaurant. You may have to GPS in order to actually get to it because every time I would go to the mall I would see it below the bridge and wasn't sure how to get there. Finally figured it out. The parking is a little bit confusing so allow for a little bit of time. And by the way we had a fantastic server! He was very attentive. read more

I came here with a group of friends to celebrate the birthday of one of them, and this was an excellent venue for such an occasion. Casual elegance, excellent service, very good food, good prices considering the quality and quantity of what you receive. We had a dinner reservation, but there was still a bit of a wait - it happens when a place is quite popular. Overall a really good dining experience. read more

Excellent dishes with gourmet presentation. Absolutely everything that we tried was five stars - from the appetizers to main dishes to dessert. The service was incredible and the atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. This is definitely the place for a nice dinner in an upscale, but relaxed establishment. Heads up: The only way I'd avoid Roaring Fork is if I were taking out someone elderly or lacking mobility, as the men's room is about a 40 yard walk down a back hallway of the restaurant. read more
I had been here once before, but i wasn't aware they have a happy hour on the weekend. The happy hour menu is limited, but there are a few options. We ordered the queso con puerco which was delicious. Normally we don't order appetizers but I thought the entrees would be smaller since it's the happy hour menu, but I was wrong. I ordered the steak salad which was huge and really tasty. My boyfriend ordered burger which he enjoyed. The restaurant was busy and I suggest making reservations. However you do not need to make reservations to be seated in the bar area and enjoy the happy hour menu. I will definitely be back. read more

We've lived here for over 10 years and this is the first time we've eaten at Roaring Fork. Ambience is super cute and very cowboy like. Location is in the lowest level of an office complex. Plenty of parking and a huge outdoor seating area. Food was delicious and service was great. read more

the moment we walked in the door unbeknownst to us, Lena laid in wait to ensure our dining experience was top tier. We visited for a birthday dinner. Once we were seated, Kaylee our server immediately greeted us with glasses of ice water. Our party had tons of questions about the menu in which she answered with an ease and confidence that you would think they were her recipes. The birthday boy who had been engaged with Lena was in awe when complimentary food items began arriving at our table. We enjoyed, truffle fries a delicious wood plank salmon (pictured) and a delectable pork chop. The only non issue I had was although delicious, my Manhattan had a tad bit too much ice. That definitely did not dampen a superb dinning experience. If ever back in Scottsdale, I will for sure visit Roaring Fork again. read more

Great food and service in a rustic atmosphere. Also very unexpected since it feels like it's attached to a business center. Sat at the bar, bartenders were attentive and on their game. Started off with the smoked wings. Really good flavor. Then ordered a ribeye steak and a side lobster tail. Obviously was really hungry. We arrived early for our reservation and was accompanied by the staff easily. The Happy hour starts at 4 pm and, wow!, the people began pouring in! The food menu for happy hour is really good. We had a cheese dip with chili verde. Very good! Dinner menu is a bit limited. I didn't give 5 stars for this reason only. Honestly this is a really good meal and our server, Matt was nothing short of perfect! The final, absolutely DO NOT MISS, no matter what, is the pecan pie. Seriously! We live in Cave Creek and might drive all of the way down here just for that!!! The restaurant's atmosphere is cozy and the noise level is low. We easily carried on comfortable conversations. This was so refreshing! I would think this would be a great place for business lunch/dinners. Edited: I increased from 4 to 5 stars bc of the awesome staff! And the giant pecan pie portion! read more

This was an unexpected 5-star meal at such a great steakhouse. As soon as you walk in you can instantly feel the warmth from the fire and smell the amazing wood burning from the kitchen. The Caesar salad had the best croutons I've had in a long time. The filet could practically be cut with a fork. The salmon was delicious. We ordered the mashed potatoes which were also so good we ordered another side of them. Dessert didn't disappoint either when we shared the berry cheesecake. I'd highly recommend this place for lunch or dinner, groups or dates, family meals or for anyone after a really good meal. read more

Roaring fork has a really popular happy hour. Think people waiting in line for it to open on a Saturday. Salads are delicious and a bargain at $7. Their house cab is Bogle and their red blend is 19 crimes - $6 on happy hour. The skillet cornbread (not happy hour) is also tasty. We went for a filet and New York for entrees. We both had just the shallot butter, which was really good. Staff is polite and had good recommendations. We had a comfortable booth in the bar. Nice comfortable overall ambience. read more

4-6pm. It's in the bar area ONLY so people usually line up outside before 4pm.
I have been trying to reach them for days to confirm my reservation for my daughters 21st?Can someone confirm they are still in business.
They don't bother answering the phone or return voicemail messages. It's a crappy way to do business but it seems to work for them. They'll contact you the day before your reservation.

Happy Hour starts at 4:00 pm - they ring a bell then allow you to find a seat in the bar area - first come/first served. I am not sure with Covid-19 and social distancing if they allow everyone to pack in the lobby to wait for the bell.
