If I could give negative stars, I would. Roadrunner Restoration (RR) was recommended by my insurance company to handle water damage remediation and repair. I can confidently say this has been one of the worst contractor experiences of my life. From fraudulent billing practices and unacceptably poor workmanship, to excessive delays and sloppy outsourced labor (who left my home a mess), the problems never stopped. Months after the project ended, RR even had the nerve to call asking for more money--despite failing to correct the original problem. In fact, they caused more damage than they fixed. It's been nearly two years, and I'm still paying out of pocket for electricians, contractors, and specialists to correct the costly mistakes and damage RR left behind. Perhaps most disturbing is what feels like a coordinated scam between RR, the insurance company, and an asbestos company they brought in. After years of renovations with many reputable contractors, I've never once been told I had asbestos--until RR showed up. Looking at other reviews, this seems to be a recurring tactic. What a grift. This company is engaging in deceptive trade practices, and they should be held accountable--not just for the shoddy work, but for the stress and financial burden they've caused. I'm reporting them to the Better Business Bureau and plan to post this review on every platform possible. Avoid Roadrunner Restoration at all costs. In my opinion, do not use this company! It all started December 2024 with a small water leak at our tub and flooring. The issue was from a roof leak and it was fixed immediately. Roadrunner was sent out by our ins company to do the remediation to check for mold. They had to pull out the tub which meant they had to tear out tile. While tearing out the tile, they failed to protect our preclean tub, so it go chipped in several places. Then once they got the tub out, they broke the drain plumbing. We did not want them to do the repairs, but we felt pressured to do so by our ins company. We took that chance and boy are we paying for it now. We did not want to put the tub back in, so they told us that for the cost of the tub refinish, they could do a shower and the cost would go toward the labor and floor of the shower. Well that is a mess as well. Different color grout, different shade of the wall tile, broken tile was set in, terrible cutting on the tile. To top that all, the PM told us that if we go into the shower and scrub the shower floor with our feet - it would clear up :) REALLY? And they did not even secure the shower head to the wall - We asked them to redo the work, but they have refused. Next our insurance referred us to another company that deals with disputes between ins co and contractor. That company seems to be in their favor and does not see any problem with the workmanship from the picture that the contractor sent her. The picture was pre-grouting and finish and taken from the door way. As of now, we still cannot use this shower as the new company or contractor will not respond to calls or emails. The last email that we got, they said the contractor is willing to refund us for grout - $218. And they said that they contractor did what was in scope - so we are living with a crappy tile job - I think my husband and I could have done the tile work better and we don't even have the experience. Although, I was skeptical about this company because of the reviews I gave them a chance because my insurance company stated they were a preferred vendor. This company provided me quality work starting with the great communication, from the first call to schedule services for a crew to come out and start the mitigation process. Vennard , Tygie and Darrius were so friendly and very helpful in my time of frustration and worry. I am glad I va e then a chance ! I recently had a water leak which caused mold in two closets. Due to this situation and the open concept I have several rooms of flooring will have to be replaced. That being said, 6 rooms of furnishings had to be packed up and stored offsite. The crew Roadrunner sent out were absolutely the best team I've ever seen. There were 7 people and it took 3 days to accomplish this task. The team work was remarkable. Everyone was so nice and accommodating to us. The Roadrunner mold mitigation team was just as remarkable. The time and care put into the project was awesome. That team too worked together great. The care and follow up visits and calls were amazing. Passed the mold inspection on the first inspection. I highly recommend Roadrunner Restoration for situations like this. Great folks from the VP on down. Thank you guys. read more

If I could give minus 1 star I would. They stored my furniture after the freeze. When I received it I received someone else's headboard and was missing some of my furniture not to mention a table was broken and now have found numerous items chipped or broken. I contacted them to pick up headboard and find out where my missing couch and 2 chairs were and what were they going to do about it I was told an investigative person would be contacting me. That was weeks ago. Obviously this person doesn't exist and it's considered file 13. Run don't walk away from this company. read more

Beware of this company. My home was destroyed by fire. Roadrunner had roof and rear elevation built before ... rough in inspections. Claimed the job was 10% fire in order to avoid city inspections and used engineers to cover up the duplicity. After 10 months for 1200 sq ft home, they had me move home to a place without an electric meter for about a month. Nothing got final inspections! Nothing passes Houston Inspections criteria. Oh, their crew busted the lock off my shed and stole/trashed the place. I have no COH! None of the inspections necessary for a structural fire. No construction company who chooses to earn their fee, can afford to drag a job out for 10 months and actually never finished nor have they honored their warranty. No one at the company inspected the unnamed sub-contractors work. While my design is really nice, the workmanship sucks. If you are considering using this company...I welcome you over to see the work they do. Don't allow them to store belongings because from what I've been told by other Roadrunner Restoration Survivors....they tend to lose things such as refrigerators! How can this happen? read more

Asked them to evaluate my house after my fire. Steve came out and took a look and gave me a detailed explanation on what's wrong and what needs to happen. I was so impressed. A few days later, I got this cool 3D image of my home, including the damage and a detailed invoice of the work needing to be done. They worked really well with my insurance and got the job done kinda quick! I'm so happy with their work! read more

Please, DO NOT USE ROADRUNNER RESTORATION!! They will talk a good game and then leave you out to pasture. Thomas came in after our insurance called Roadrunner, spoke like he was on point, then ignored us. The customer service was atrocious and multiple people stonewalled us in being able to speak with any supervisor. Thomas/Roadrunner even sent a bill to our insurance, for work they never did. in addition, they took a couple pieces of furniture for possible restoration, then we were told by Thomas they lost our items, and then the story changed to, we never received your items. We just received a bill from Roadeunner for over 11K, that didnt have a legitimate description of work, which should have gone to our insurance company. If you decide to use this company, BEWARE, you will lose out and be scammed. read more

Our refrigerator had leaked for weeks (months?). Our insurance company sent Road Runner (Beep Beep - sorry child of the 50s) to repair the ceiling of the garage which collapsed due to the water. They replaced everything. My wife saw two drywall screws that had poked through. They sent a repair guy - no arguing just sent three man. These people are good. They are competent and honest. My insurance company referred me to RoadRunner Restoration. I have had nothing but a bad experience with them. I tried to set up an appointment for a quote and called multiple times. I finally got a returned call and missed it, after a week of trying to make an appointment for a quote. I tried to return the call immediately. I was told the person was out of the office for the rest of the day. When I was finally able to make the appointment I was told they scheduled me on a different day than we originally agreed. I told RoadRunner I would have never agreed to the time as I already had another appointment. They finally got another person to do the estimate a few days later. I was told they would submit the estimate to my insurance company. After a week my estimate was still not submitted. I spoke with my claims agent and she said she would follow up with RoadRunner. She explained they had to provide the claim with a quick turnaround time. I thought it was only a matter of getting the quote to my insurance company to approve and start the work. I asked RoadRunner when they could start the project. I was told by them that projects are booked a couple of weeks out. I was told that my insurance company told RoadRuuner I had been "cashed out" and the claim was canceled on RoadRunner's end and that "We don't do cash jobs. Strictly through insurance". I spoke with my claims agent who confirmed that it was never said I was "cashed out". My agent said she spoke with RoadRunner and they had the impression I was going with someone else. This does not make any sense when I asked when RoadRunner when they could start my project and they told me they canceled it. My experience with them was one failure after another. I do not recommend this company based on the experience I have had with them. read more

If I could have given negative stars ... I would, I'm only sorry I did not write this before as I see now they are still out there screwing hard working people ... They were hired to repair and rebuild my parents home after it was broken in to and set of fire. Out of 20 or so other fire truck chasers, they do insurance jobs, I was impressed with RR's salesman ... and that is where it ended. Their work was bad, they must have done work 3 or 4 times before they got it right. I have never been on a project that got so many red tags. They could not keep anyone working for them and they don't pay their subs or vendors as I found out later ... When they walked off the job, they didn't tell us they just stopped taking our calls and never returned our calls again, and they stole material, new appliances and my families personal property from the site. They had everything so screwed up that it took me more than a year to get the permit out of their name and into our name ... Then as I began picking up the pieces I started to see just how really bad their work was. At one point we talked to a attorney about sewing them ... we were told that there was a long line of ex-clients, former employees, subs that would not work for them and suppliers in line with the courts that they owed money to, and little chance we would get anything out of them. I had ex clients, ex employees and subcontractors that were ready to go to court with us ... We were advised by our attorney was to cut our losses and just finish it ourselves. Which we did ... The people we sold the house to tried to call them about some of the work that they did complete and were told that they had no record of them working on the house ... they have what they need to go after them now I hope ... The worst experience ever ... now they will not ever stand behind the work that they did do ... Do Not Even Call ... they are slick talking shysters!!!!! By the way; "RD" , who replied to the first review posted after Harvey, is the owner of the company that we dealt with and I can't tell you how many times he lied right to my face not to mention on the phone and via email and texts ... Not Someone to be TRUSTED!!!! added 07/23/2018; Roadrunner has submitted a fraudulent report on this review stating that it is not true ... But I have so much hard proof of what they did and what they did not do properly or at all. As well as ex-employ's, sub-contractors, suppliers and other past clients that will support my claims. Not sure whether the company is called the 'road runner' or they make their client the 'roadrunner'. Dreadful experience for lack of communication and professionalism. My house got severely damaged due to the winter cold snap and one month later, the remediation is still not done. No one has a clue as to what are the next steps. Upon calling they say that they will call right back - no call ever comes. They were prompt to appoint a 'project manager' which is a joke. The guy does not have the decency to return any call or texts leave alone giving a clear picture of what is planned for the next days ahead. Hiring them was a big mistake. read more

In 2017 my condo in Rockport Texas was destroyed my hurricane Harvey. The Key Allegro Condominium Association hired Road Runner Restoration to rebuild the condos. This company claims to have done work for companies like Exxon! Last year, Road Runner told me to take a cash out. Meredith my project superintendent , who works for RR, told me that a Cash out would be in my best interest because Road Runner would not finish anytime in the foreseeable future. And that was 4 years after Harvey! . I have a signed payout contract from Road Runner. Rachel, the CEO of Road Runner agreed to pay me a final pay out amount of 25k by January 31st, so I could finish the the project on my own. They did not send it to me. I called Meredith. She promised I could pick it up or have it overnighted to me by February 14th or 15th. Today I talked to Road Runner's new CFO , Mike Howell, who refused to honor the signed agreement. These people are the scum of the earth. After all the taxes, insurance, special assessments and HOA fees that I have paid (about $50,000) , I am now paying a contractor out of my own pocket to finish this job. I paid for hazard/hurricane insurance, the HOA gave my insurance proceeds to RR. Road Runner then refused to finish my condo, and signed a contract to reimburse me with it the insurance proceeds but are now choosing to keep my insurance money in violation of that contract and make me pay for the repairs out of pocket. Mike complained about cash flow and his lack of profit on this project. That is all Road Runners fault because they continually screwed up and had to do things over! They sheetrocked my place before finishing the framing, they did not use sheet rock screws so the Sheetrock started detaching from the studs, they had pipes leak after they sheet rocked on other units, requiring a re do, they framed a flat ceiling in my unit instead of a vaulted ceiling as per the specs, requiring a re-do. Somehow they got the electrical got so screwed up that when I pulled my light plug, all the rest of the plugs in the room turned off. It took an electrician 3 trips to fix it because when I explained the issue in detail to my Superintendent she said TMI mister Whelan! I also drove 200 miles to meet with her only to have her ask why I was there. I then spent an hour walking through my unit and pointed out issues. She didn't write down a single note! They managed to run 125 a/c volts through 5 volt dc usb plugs that I had installed which nearly killed me! They punched out the wrong plug in the wall drain which would have caused my washer to have drained between the walls instead of into the drain pipe. They left a 4 inch gap between my cabinets and ceiling on one side while making them flush on the other, they didn't install ceiling studs required to properly install sheet rock thought I pointed out the issue prior to the sheet rocking, they tore out a shower that we all agreed to preserve. When I asked why they said they had to because of mold issues. A year latter I asked what steps they took to remediate the mold and they said there was no mold, and the list goes on and on. Stay away at all costs. Had minor smoke damage due to wire shorted out against dryer vent. Thomas, one of their fire truck chasers came , said we can stay in a hotel for a few days so they could wipe down furniture etc. A few days later I found out the removed all our furniture and personal items, things in drawers and cabinets.There was no reason for that as the only place there was smoke was in the kitchen-ding room area and very little in the adjacent living area. All other rooms were closed off. Had to rewire where the wire shorted out. The insurance co. paid to have the entire house brought up to code. When the electrician arrived to do the work, Roadrunner told them just to replace the shorted out wire , new breaker box with arc breakers.and nothing else that insurance had paid for. Ended up being in the hotel for 5 months. When we finally returned home they refused to return things back where they were. Over 100 boxes they left for use to unpack. I'm 77 years old with a bad back and COPD and my wife had just finished 6 months of chemo and radiation. While in the hotel she developed a massive blood clot. Was rushed to the hospital. While unpacking she developed a huge hernia at the colostomy site due to the rectal surgery on the cancer. We spent over $2000 having to pay to have some of the item back. read more

Terrible experience after Harvey. crew cut through electrical lines in the walls and tried to hide them with tape and not saying anything. Damages to furniture. Had problems with just getting in touch with someone via phone or text. They tried to overcharge multiple times for things they never did. Had to end up hiring another company to do it right and fix the mistakes. I can't imagine how many other customers they tried to take advantage of in a time of need! read more

We had an upstairs bathroom leak that our plumber made worse repairing. He asked us if we would like him to call a restoration company and being that I had never dealt with something like this before, I said yes, please. Katie Anderson dropped everything and came out to my home immediately to assess the damage and had a crew out to mitigate within minutes it seemed. The crew was very professional and did a great job isolating the area and being sure to clean up during the whole process. Having 3 kids, we were very happy with the process and it didn't interrupt our day to day process too much. Katie was very professional walking me through the whole process, offering to come and meet with the insurance adjuster and offered to find errors in the insurance companies adjustment. We didn't end up going with RoadRunner for restoration since I am in the home building industry, but I commend their team on a seamless mitigation process.
