I have been trying to contact them for over a week! they have my stuff in their short term storage and told me to call to schedule the outbound move...I HAVE CALLED AND EMAILED MULTIPLE TIMES EACH DAY WITH NO ANSWER OR RESPONSE! My best experience with them was meeting Caleb. He is a BEAST and super hardworking. I was shocked to see the speed he was working at. They sent two guys for single family move. The other guy, Julian, was okay and was very slow. Felt like he was there to bill hours for the business. He was making us do certain things. If the business is sending two guys, they both should be good and instead of relying on one man to do the job. Great company, fair pricing, great service. I hired Road Scholars two times: First, to move my stuff into a storage unit. Next, to move it out of the storage unit and into my house about a week late. The first crew was very careful to wrap all my belongings in plastic, and then to pack everything carefully in the storage unit. The second crew was able to unload the storage unit very quickly (much faster than loading it into storage), and then unloaded everything in my house very quickly as well. While the second crew was much faster than the first, both crews worked hard and were very careful. If you're thinking about hiring these guys, my advice is to book a weekday move on a non-holiday. My Monday morning crew was super experienced and quick, and if you get them, you're going to love it. Finally, I saw some notes in other reviews about damaged belongings, and I'd like to point out that: 1. Most furniture isn't designed to be loaded into a truck, driven down the road, and then unloaded and hauled up or down stairs, etc. If you think you're going to move all your belongings and have everything arrive in perfect condition, you're not very smart. Damage is to be expected. 2. Despite the risks and my expectation that some of my stuff would get damaged, both crews were careful. I lost just one piece of furniture due to damage - a cheap Walmart desk that was 10 years old - and I was fine with it. One destroyed desk is nothing compared to the damage I'd do if I moved all my stuff myself. I also had some dings and dents I didn't notice before, but again - this is how moving goes. In my opinion, if you want all your stuff to be in perfect shape after a big move, buy a gym membership and start weight training ASAP. Then, once you're strong enough to pickup all your stuff and maneuver it effortlessly around corners and up stairs, you're the perfect mover. And if you aren't willing to hit the weights, then get over yourself. read more

They showed up on time, hit their estimate exactly, and were all incredibly polite and awesome to be around. This week we needed help moving a large, awkward, heavy piece of equipment and called upon their service. The estimate was extremely fair. Addition to my original review below. The estimate that the company referenced in the response to my original review was a phone estimate and not a walk through estimate. I also had a large Uhaul trailer on my truck and I brought items from storage. The lead mover said that if I hauled those items to my new home, that they would move them. So those items were not packed in the truck (items listed in the phone estimate), therefor not added to the inventory moved for cost in the estimate. There was no real cost savings as the company states, if I am moving large items listed in the original estimate. If the owner or employee responding on behalf of the owner (in my opinion) to my review took the time to talk to me, they would not try to claim saving my money and I actually paid for the 5th mover (see the screen picture of the estimate). I can share the receipt for the Uhaul trailer if the company would like. The claim that the company provided "fair" service for an incomplete job is like paying a company to mow your yard, but they only mow 80% of the yard and then claim it was a "fair" price to pay. All though you paid the company to mow 100% of the yard. Just saying....there seems to be a practiced line of you signed versus...how can we make this right, provide outstanding customer service or I will investigate this to see if my employees did the right thing. I have moved many times and I have to say that my move on 5/10/19 was the best by far. I chose Road Scholars to move us again (used for a prior move) and they are by far the best moving company I have ever used. We knew our move was daunting so we booked 2 trucks, 4 guys. From the initial call to discuss a quote to the actual moving day, I couldn't have been more pleased with the communication and entire process. Not only did Tyler and Emad finish the job with two hours to spare, and about $200 under my estimated budget, but they were friendly, smart and funny as well. I have also used Road Scholars for moving my office a few years ago with similarly outstanding service. This is a top notch, local, family-owned business with excellent planning, execution and follow-up. Best moving company I have ever worked with. The movers were polite, professional and handled all my things with such care. They were also efficient. I had a couple of pieces of furniture that needed to be dismantled and reassembled. I can't say enough good things about the guys that moved me. I would guess all the movers with Road Scholars have the same high reputation. One guy blew out his knee during my move and they had another guy there within 30 to 45 minutes. And they gave me an hour credit on my invoice because only one guy was able to do anything for that time frame. If you want polite, professional and caring movers, I would choose Road Scholars hands down. OMG! I bought a couch that was supposed to fit up the stairs, but just wouldn't make that turn. So the furniture delivery guys just left the couch with me - good to know for future reference. I'm in a panic and calling a ton of places for a panic "hoist the couch up my balcony to the 3rd floor" please. Road Scholars came through for me. They were here within a couple hours of my panic call on a Friday afternoon (squeezed me in)! Patrick and Jerome were great - even though I was a crazed individual in panic mode. We hired two packers to pack our ABS U-Pack trailer before moving from Colorado to Texas. The guys were very nice and hard workers, but not sure how well they actually packed the trailer. Quite a few items were damaged. Some we were able to fix, but others were damaged beyond repair. Most of this was due to fragile items having heavier boxes on top of them. Please watch the packing process and advise if need be. If they are packing a truck that is not one of their own trucks, there is no liability on their part for the damage of anything they've packed. SO YOU HAVE TO WATCH THE PACKERS PACK THE TRUCK VERY CAREFULLY. If they damage something that you do not see, don't expect to get reimbursed on the other end. Because you aren't using their truck and not using the same company to unpack, you have no recourse if things get damaged. Just be aware of this, don't buy the added coverage as it doesn't apply to cross country moves and watch the process of packing the trailer. Be aware of what's going on with your move. This would be a great company to use for packing and moving locally. Or if you can't afford the big movers, use them for packing your trailer. Just be aware that YOU are responsible. The owner of the company, Sally, called me personally to discuss our situation. They obviously care about their customers. read more

Bad experience. They did not use the furniture pads that were provided and only wrapped 75% of my wood and leather furniture with saran wrap. I have extensive damage to the wood and leather. They won't stand behind their movers not properly covering and loading. First they say I didn't provide pads, but I provided a picture. Now they are saying the pads I purchased through U-haul were to thin. They keep coming up with excuses. Do not use this company. They won't stand behind their movers they provide nor will they even offer to repair the damaged furniture. Stay way from them. Bad business practices and bad customer service. read more

This is a "bait and switch operation" so buyer beware. Hired them for a local move from a condo. Chose them because they were available, and the owner, Sally, looked at all photos the realtor had posted on line and gave me a lower and upper price range. We openly discussed that there was one elevator; she assured me they'd moved people from this particular community many times. Frankly, I regret having hired them. The movers themselves were okay. But at the end of the move they presented me with a fee that was $600+ over the TOP range I'd been given. And they also broke a marble top table that THEY PACKED and Sally has repeatedly refused to cover the $900 to replace the top. (I'm in the process of taking them to small claims court) They gave me some BS about the higher fee being due to taking longer due to the elevator and the weather. The weather was a mist and had NO effect on the move; this I know because I watched them take things in and out for the entire move. And the elevator line was BS. In this condo a 'door watcher' is used. The person sits there during the entire move so that movers can keep the door open (instead of closed/buzz in for security purposes). The door watcher reported to me how smooth it went all day long and that even the lead mover told her how nice it was because there was no delay for them. And I was also told that not once did any resident or mover get held up with elevator use. And about the table top. She sent a long and bogus email about the packing of it. Well, THEY packed this marble top. So again, I would NOT recommend this company and I find them the epitome of bait and switch. She was oh so eager for the job though and I fell for it. read more

We had to move out of a townhome we had been renting for five years. With two kids this was a daunting task, but Road Scholars to the rescue! They loaded all of our stuff into several of their storage crates and stored our stuff at their facility for almost a month. Then met us at our new home and unloaded everything. Cost from door to door for a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom amour of stuff was around $1400. It took 4.5 hours to load up and a little over 2 hours to unload all of our stuff. Both on the front and backside the workers were very professional, courteous and worked quickly. Even when we asked them to change some things around for us they didn't patronize, which could be easy to do when the workers were doing all the heavy lifting...literally. During the move we did end up with a small box being lost, but the company is working to see if they can find it at their warehouse as during the initial loading the workers had to take a pile of stuff back to their warehouse and build another crate as they hadn't brought enough for all of our stuff! I can see how a small box could easily have been misplaced. I'll update as I find out more. My TV also had some problems after the move but it is old and could have very well been on its way out anyway. The Road Scholars were still willing to work with me to come to terms with my TV breaking. That's awesome service right there. Oh one note: I never find discussing issues or problems that come up with either the workers or their customer service team by yelling is a good idea. I always wonder when reading negative reviews if it was really as bad as people say or if the customers themselves were the ones who instigated a conflict. Just saying :) read more

Working with Road Scholars (Centennial operation) was an exceptional experience. I moved from the duplex I sold into an apartment (with stairs to navigate). It involved moving furnishings for approximately 1600 sf and an almost full-pack by them (I moved much of the cleaning, decor and small valuables or delicate items myself - which I would recommend to anyone). The entire crew (Smog, Ace, Lamar, Ricardo, and Keith) was professional, pleasant, and efficient. They truly seemed to care about every detail. They were honest and did not dilly-dally in executing their responsibilities. It was also very impressive to see the teamwork, camaraderie and respect for each other. They enjoyed their work and each other! The final bill came in under expectations and the follow-up communication for minor issues (that ended up not being anything they did wrong) was impressive. Had a wonderful move last week with Road Scholars! I have had several bad moving experiences in the past and am always nervous to move. The three guys who did our job were punctual, friendly and even fun (much needed on a stressful day). They even helped to trouble shoot a problem with our washing machine as it was disconnected. I would certainly recommend this company to family and friends. They may not be the cheapest option, but all my stuff made it to the proper places in my home with no breakage or damage. So the response from the company should be explained. There were many pieces of furniture that were stolen and I'll explain. The "inventory" was done by their staff because we were asked to remove a swing set in the back yard on short notice. This is the way that they arranged to steal furniture. They left what they wanted off of the log sheet. The only reason they paid $50 for a new full sized dresser is because it had law enforcement uniforms in it. As far as how long ago it hsppened.....there was no Yelp back then (as far as I know). I will continue to spread the word so that others won't fall prey to this kind of thievery. read more

Hello friends - Here is my story with Road Scholars. I heard good things about the company so I decide to call them. I answered a number of questions over the phone and thy generated a quote. Including some packing and unpacking the estimate over the phone was about $3,000. They charge by the hour, but that was the estimated (not guaranteed) total. For good measure I asked them to do an in-person estimate as well. To my surprise, that estimate was about $6,000 !!! I contacted them and expressed surprise at such huge discrepancy between the two quotes. I was even more surprised and frankly dismayed when they accused me of lying about the amount of my belongings. Please note that there is no incentive to lie as everyone is charged by the hour. The discussion took a very bad turn when they offered to do "half a move for a lower price". I literally could not believe my ears. Who on earth would do half a move? I offered them an explanation of my own: "the whole experience seemed like a bait and switch to me" - first the low price and Lester the true price that happened to be double in my case. My estimator's name was Sally. I would try to avoid her if possible. I don't know if my experience is typical, but I would not and have not hired them. May I wish everyone good luck with your moves and I hope you find someone honest and caring to work with !!! read more

Short story: I am very unlikely to use them again. Longer story: Movers arrived 1 hour late on a day where we needed to be out at a set time. Since we moved in a Sunday, no one was in the office to take out calls and make sure that someone was coming at all. The movers arrived tired from a late night the previous day, working 12 days straight and moving stuff before our 8-9am scheduled move that day. We spent $30 buying red bulls and other drinks in a subtle attempt to keep them energized. Movers were friendly, but one friendly enough where I told my fiancé to go to the new house so the movers would finish more quickly by stopping talking to her. Our house was VERY well prepped for the move. Previous moves took 6 hours with this company. They took time to prepare our stuff carefully but our best furniture still emerged damaged and our move ran 10+ hours at Sunday time and a half. Overall would be hard pressed to use overworked movers Even if they were only 15% less efficient due to being tired, this translates to several hundreds dollars for my move. Of note: I really think the movers were trying very hard to do a good job, they were just exhausted. Next time though I'd rather take a chance with a different company and specify the need for a fresh crew. Calls to the office to tell them of my experience as a customer resulted in two unfulfilled promises: 1 for an insurance form for my damaged furniture that I didn't get. 1 for follow up from a manager after the July 4th holiday that never happened. I had a quote by my square footage and they turned down coming to my home to measure, but charged way more than the quote and didn't move all of my belongings. Not only that it took me months to get everything out of my garage (not in my home), to find out many things were missing. Now she says I was under the influence of something so I deserve this. Bad experience!! I used Road Scholars Moving when I was redoing my floors, and had to move everything out of the main level. They only had my furniture to move and store for 10 days. They managed to damage couple of pieces enough that I had to pay to get it repaired, I also paid for small amount of packing and they thew all my hanging clothes in a blanket and taped them into a ball, guess ran out of garmet boxes.. turns out that's my problem! They were suppose to put bed back together.. what a sloppy job. And to top it all off one of the movers was cussing and angry.. managed to make my kids feel uneasy/unsafe around him. Then when I sent them pictures of the mess and damage they couldn't care less. read more

We experienced a terrible business transaction, and we are just stunned of the scam that occurred. No way, did we expect to be treated this way, especially by Road Scholars. We have been completely disrespected by the movers who left us stranded, and are furious by the way we were treated. We had hired Road Scholars to move our elderly parents from their apartment in Denver. Within 75 minutes, the two men had moved several boxes and some chairs. We confronted the movers that they were moving much slower than they should have been, charging by the hour, and they had responded with violent threats. They were very fast though to remove all out items from the truck, and left hastily without an explanation. We were left scrambling to figure out what to do by the end of the day, we did not expect to have this experience. We are OUTRAGED by this unprofessional, disrespectful behavior. We ended up spending the rest of the day moving our parents belongings ourselves in cars, and by the way, we did it quicker than the movers who promised to do the job in 5 hours. We want to raise attention to the owners of this company about this horrific episode that we had experienced today. We demand to hear from the owners of the company with an explanation and apology as to what happened. We also expect not to be charged for this terrible service that occurred today. They were swearing at us, and making threatening approaches. We hope our complaint won't be dismissed like the other complaints we read on this page. read more

Used them for a move last year. The movers were efficient, friendly, and accommodating. However, and this is a big HOWEVER, one of our mattresses was not wrapped for some reason before being loaded onto the truck, which led to us picking up bed bugs. Luckily, simply removing the mattress from the apartment solved the problem (well, it seemed to--it's been over a year with no issue), but I know this is often not the case with those pests. Caveat emptor, make sure ALL of your items are wrapped/protected if using this company. read more

This is the second time I used Road Scholars and both times the move was done efficiently and carefully. I have some big, heavy pieces that had to go up or down some challenging staircases. The pieces arrived safely and the walls and floors were spared damage. This last move was to a storage unit. The crew successfully fit everything in nice and tight with no wasted space. I asked them to leave me some space in the front and a walkway to the back which they did. I can't say enough how friendly and professional Tyler and Isaiah were.
