Much to my surprise, I arrive and the place is boarded up with an eviction notice taped on the door. I tried to call the number and it is disconnected. I waited to see if the charge went through and to my surprise, IT DID! My bank told me they don't dispute food charges. So how am I to get my money back for food I never received? more importantly, WHYYY is RJs website still up and active if they have been closed for over a month?!? I want my money back. I will report them as soon as I figure out who it is I should be reporting them to. I can't be the only one this has happened to. read more

We order from here all the time, some of the best pizza in the area (mama nata is our favorite). We also just catered our daughters birthday party from RJs, I worked directly with Frank the owner he was so nice, responsive and was so pleasant to work with, giving great and reasonable recommendations to ensure we had enough food. Since I was in Rockaway at lunch time today, I stopped at RJ's. This is a pizzeria which I've wanted to visit for a long time. It's conveniently located in a strip mall on Rt 46. The good news was that the 2 slices of plain were delicious! This is a nice thin crust that reminded me of pizza from Queens when I was a kid. It was also very reasonably priced at just $2 a slice. The one negative for me was that this was lunch time and the 2 slices on the counter were all there was to choose from. I would have liked to have seen what their speciality slices were like. RJ's is a place I'll definitely try again. Hopefully they'll be more of a selection next time. read more

must have been an off day. I ordered a pizza thru Slice app for pick up at 4:30. When I walked in to RJ's it was empty and I stood at the counter while an employee was on his cell phone. When he finally saw me waiting I told him was picking up a pizza. I could see the one box of pizza on top of the pizza oven with my name on it. I told him my pizza was on top of the oven. He opens up the pizza oven that was empty. I told him again my pizza is right there. Very strange, bad service. read more

Sadly, RJ's has become a hit or miss for us. We have been regulars at RJ's for 6 years. The quality of pizzas has changed throughout the years. Some pizzas we get are reheats (we can clearly tell since the cheese is thick and overcooked) while some are lacking flavor in the sauce and seasoning. It's the chance you take on a certain day, and unfortunately we haven't had the best string of luck. RJ's was our go to pizza spot although due to the inconsistencies, we are having a difficult time being dedicated customers. read more

The Golden Eagle pizza is delish! Pesto and thin sliced tomatos. Just yum. I like all of RJs pizzas because of the crust. It's not the big, chewy slab that many pizzerias in the area serve. It's thinner and there is a good ratio of toppings to crust. RJ's delivers, too! I may up my rating to 5 stars but I need to try a few more items in the menu first. Oops. Just inside the entrance, a board lists their tempting daily specials. By the counter, huge slices of about 8 kinds of pie wait ready to be reheated. I ordered Mama Nata's pizza which arrived freshly made and piping hot with a thin crust and square, topped with basil, mozz, garlic, and plum tomato sauce. Though the cheese sometimes slid off my slices, it was a pretty good pie that showcased obviously fresh ingredients. On another visit, I tried a slice of plain and a slice of Spinach/Ricotta/Mozz/Garlic and both really impressed me with excellent texture and flavor. I was actually full after the first slice but didn't mind having the second. All this good pizza left me ready for a nap and super happy. The workers and owner especially are very polite and friendly to all customers engaging with them and making a comfortable setting for them. The food is always brought quick and delicious, the have such a variety of foods on there menu. The restaurant itself is extremely clean and the decor was very organized. This is by far some of the Best thin crust style pizza around. They use only fresh ingredients and toppings here and you can tell in every flavorful bite. I tried the Supreme slice which I found to be 'out of this world'. The sauce is delicious and not acidic at all while the cheese has just the right amount of perfect melted goodness. The crust has a crispness to it and makes for an excellent foundation for this very delicious pizza. Service is extremely friendly and the dining area is above what you would find in any of the local pizzerias. Really cool and welcoming vibe going on with nice decor. Have been working in Rockaway for about a year and was exhausted of the few options I knew of for lunch. After googling, I found RJ's was right down the road. We had the gnocchi lunch which came with a side salad or soup and 2 plain slices. I'm very picky when it comes to pizza but, the slices were HUGE and delicious. More of a thin crust pizza which isn't usually my favorite but, it was not super crispy so that was a plus in my book. The sauce was yummy and the cheese was real - not the artificial stuff a lot of places use now. The lunch gnocchi was a big portion and also delicious. Can't wait to try some more things off of the menu and maybe try the soup next time! read more

Like most of us in this post Covid world, we just about had it and we're bored with all the other food choices so figured why not RJ's a try. And boy! I had some very picky eaters very happy. Here's what was ordered: capellini primavera, rigatoni al la vodka, and Stracciatella soup The capellini was just perfect and totally hit the spot! veggies were perfectly cooked, soft not mushy and with a very little cream sauce But it was a generous portion so dinner and lunch the next day for sure!!! My mom who's super picky loved the soup and to quote her, "finally some other soup choice vs just chicken noodle or another canned soup that you can find anywhere" The only downside to the rigatoni was we ordered it with shrimp but did wasn't made that way. However, when I called the restaurant, they did say that they were closing and wanted to make sure we got the food out but without hesitation took off the charge for the shrimp since we never got it in the actual order. Food is very consistent! LOVE their pasta fagioli. I have been looking for a place with the same great soup Almalfi Cafe in Madison had years back (closed down). Their salads are fresh- Love RJ's tropical with the pineapple vinaigrette! Love their grilled shrimp too in the salads. Buffalo chicken wrap is HOT but oh so good. Super fresh bread out of the oven. Feel deceived after dining in restaurant and won't be going back. Reviewed bill and found we were charged $1.65 for a glass of ice water (!) and price charged for both entrees was higher than prices stated on menu. When asked about high cost for a glass of water, the server (who appeared to be owner or manager) said they serve bottled water. If that is so, he should have brought the bottle of water to my table and he should have told me about the charge when I asked for a "glass" of water which is usually free at most restaurants. Regarding being charged prices higher than on the menu, when I asked why, the server pointed to a letter with fine print up by the register saying they raised the prices and the menu prices were not correct. We sat at a table and were never going to see that letter. They should put a sticker on the menu saying prices are higher than stated or server should disclose this to customers. Not being cheap about the extra $5 in charges but felt deceived. There's so many other good choices for Italian food in the area. Had been there a few times and enjoyed the food for the most part. Considered making this our regular place but left with a bad taste in our mouth. Disappointed. read more

We ordered for the first time from RJ's yesterday. We love pizza and we always try different places to compare. We ordered the Scarlet Knight square pizza and it was by far the best pizza we have ever eaten. It was perfect. Pizza is usually considered cheap to eat, junk food, but with this pizza we were able to actually taste the quality. It was more like a high quality meal instead of pizza. We ordered for delivery between 6:30 PM and 7:00 PM on a snowy Sunday night and the pizza arrived hot at 6:45 PM. The person that answered the phone to take the order was extremely polite, helpful and friendly. We look forward to ordering a few more different pizzas, salads and for sure their entrees. I stopped in for some lunch today and decided on the caprese salad and side of meatballs since I'm on a meatball kick! This is a tiny but cute pizzeria tucked into the strip mall on Rte. 46 west near Franklin Road in Rockaway. I thought the salad was very good although it would have (and I'm big advocate of balsamic vinegar) been just as good with a little less dressing. The cheese, basil, and mozzarella were fresh and it was very satisfying. The meatballs were also quite good and I dug the sauce. The meatballs were pretty big and had a nice flavor. They were appropriately dense without being too full of breadcrumbs that tend to detract from the flavor value. The salad came with three rolls and although I didn't eat them (I gave to my friend at work) they looked and felt fresh! It took a little longer than I expected to wait for my order so next time I'll call ahead. I haven't dined in yet so I'll do an update on this review when I do. I like the little chalkboard of specials and the warmth of the simple but welcoming atmosphere and decor. read more

This is in the space formerly occupied by Paradiso. Soft opening last night, February 7th. Great staff, wonderful interior remodel that makes the space cleaner and more inviting. Had veal saltimbocca and a chicken entree, both of which came with house salads. Nicely prepared with top quality ingredients. I'll visit soon to try the pizza. Late night just getting into town and not much near my hotel. What was close? A quick slice of za is hard to mess up. What I found far exceeded what I expected. A simple house salad and two slices of cheese and I was on my way. The staff inside was not only helpful but friendly, asking where I was from and what I was doing in town. Evidently this place is new but the food was great. House salad had a house made dressing that was a vinegarette, it hit the spot.
