Whew...drive up to Sandy, OR from SF bc our '18/19 Revel's Espar just quit working and had read all the really fantastic customer reviews. First I did order the rebuild kit but just couldn't get the unit out from where Winnebago buried her. The expected 2 hour R&R took an extra 5 hours bc of some baffling wiring problem between the fuse box and the unit. Ordinarily I'd prob be upset but being able to comfortably watch the whole thing through a picture window into the workshop from their high quality recliner massage chair made it enjoyable. It was clear someone was actually working non-stop to get the fix. Mechanic James was diligent but still needed the experienced assist of both owner Jim and his son Mike crawling under to help figure out just what was needed. While in the waiting lounge, Jim stopped by with fresh donuts for my wife and me, the only occupants. How many CEO's provide that personalized level of thoughtfulness? Also received cheerful and helpful scheduling from receptionist Sandy. On top of all that, Jim held to the original price quote he emailed me 6 months ago (April 2025)!! Would not have objected to any reasonable adjustment for all the extra time and some parts too. Sincerely appreciate all this team did. This whole op restored my faith in humans after living under the insanity of a certain politician. read more

Yest again, these guys prove that they know more about hydronic heating systems than anybody else. Today they installed a heat exchanger from the engine to the interior of my Sprinter. This means that the Espar can heat the engine and the engine heat can be used to heat the interior. Cool, right? No need for a block heater. read more

If I could give this place 6 starts, I would. Jim and his son, Mike, are super friendly and easy to work with. More importantly they actually know what they are doing. We took our Espar heater to 4 different places to try to get it to work properly. Mike took one look at it and said they wired it wrong. Within a very short period of time, he had it working perfectly! I wish I knew about Rixens a long time ago. It's taken us 6 years to finally get the heater working right. Once we find someone who knows what their doing we stick with them. From now on, nobody's touching our Espar heater except Rixens. read more

I spent several hours trying to get heat/hot water working in preparation for our trip to Oregon. White smoke, cold air, dripping exhaust... I semi gave up expecting to go without on this trip. I contacted Jim at Rixen and he rearranged his schedule and that of his shop to accommodate me. I agree with other reviewers, if I could give a 10, I would. They were very professional and so willing to help out. I have shared their name, expertise and professionalism now several times. I can not recommend them highly enough. I live on the east coast, Sandy, OR is a long way for a service call. My 2020 MB Revel was blowing cold air. No white smoke. Espar throwing error code 14 -overheat...I watched all of Rixen's troubleshooting videos. All incredibly informative. Decided to call customer service. I was impressed that Jim Rixen, the owner himself, answered and proceeded to walk me through trouble shooting what was wrong with my Rixen heater. Jim stayed on the phone with me for 38 minutes while we cleared Espar codes and checked out the heat pump, It turned out to be the heat pump was not circulating. I ordered a new heat pump and received it in 2 days! I then called back for a walk thru on how to install. Absolutely incredible customer service!! All explained perfectly in layman terms for me, a solo woman van wanderer. My heater is now blowing fantastic heat and hot water! Thank you Jim Rixen for your expertise and the patience it took to get me and my brother, a layman up and running again. I would give them 10 stars!! read more

Amazing! I can't remember having a better experience getting a vehicle serviced. These guys specialize in heating systems for RVs, and a few other things, they could totally get away with being overpriced, and snobby like other shops. Extremely down to earth, I had a great time, they taught me things about my vehicle that I didn't know. The issue ended up being much larger than planned, but they didn't charge me. 100% recommended. Nothing but 5-stars for Rixens Enterprises (RE). I've never even been to their shop but these guys have helped me out IMMENSELY over the past year and a half. I had a major ($85K) 4X4 Sprinter upfit done about a year and a half back and a $6000+ Espar heating system was a part of the package. Only problem is: the horrendous upfitter (based in Tualatin, OR) that I ended up working with left me with almost ZERO information regarding the complex system that they installed. Once I figured out it was a RE product I began scoping out their amazing website and discovered manuals and diagrams galore. Did I mention that I wasn't even provided a user manual from the upfitter? Anyway, RE's website quickly became a valuable resource...but it didn't stop there. Their customer service team was also very helpful and accommodating whenever bigger problems arose. One such problem I unfortunately had to tackle was a profuse antifreeze leak into the galley cabinet where the Espar unit was installed. I discovered the leak while conducting a maintenance check of the antifreeze level in the expansion tank...and let me just say: I was a bit alarmed! Antifreeze had soaked into all parts of the lower cabinetry and had already discolored it a dark green. My biggest fear was that this expensive system had somehow failed and that I was now out $6K+. In a panic I called RE and they helped guide me through the troubleshooting procedure. Turns out the upfitter previously mentioned elected to use cheap crimp clamps on the hoses rather than adjustable worm clamps that RE specifically recommends with their products. After isolating/removing the faulty clamp (and replacing it with the appropriate worm clamp) the problem was solved. Much easier said than done though! Sadly, this didn't do much to help my antifreeze soaked cabinets :( Remember: RE didn't sell me or install this product in my van but they still took the time to assist me with a critical repair even though they had no obligation to do so. For that reason (along with the others listed) they have MORE than earned 5-stars. Thanks again you guys! read more

These guys are the experts on all things Espar and probably more but that is all I've them do to this point. My D2 Airtronic heater came with my van and was having an issue with it firing up. Brought the van into Rixen's and they serviced it quickly...while there they noticed that I did not have a high altitude kit (older heater) and asked if I wanted one installed. I passed on it but that was a mistake as it turns out I frequently find myself at high altitudes and would run the heater anyway which caused issues. Duh! I called and they were super accommodating on helping me trouble shoot it and I purchased a service kit and high altitude kit from them. Attempted to pull the heater and service it myself and all seemed to go well but it wouldn't fire up. I quickly called them and they tried to help again but I couldn't figure it out. Plus I didn't know how to wire in the high altitude kit. I shipped the heater and the HA kit up to them and within a few days I got a call saying that the heater is all set (loose plug) and they made a wire harness so I can easily plug in the HA kit. Didn't even charge me for their time, just the shipping! Just a great group of people to work with and you can rest assured that if you need a part for your heater, they have it. Rixens Fixed and serviced the furnace in my Winnebago and made it like new again-- a rare moment in rv service. They build great furnace systems and service them just as perfectly. They stand behind and know their product. Plus they'll train you on how to take care of their equipment as well. Before you leave their service bay you will know exactly how all their systems work. Espar heaters have to simultaneously heat your coach, heat the hot water and protect all your piping from freezing-- a lot of investment is "riding" on these espar systems yet very few shops know how to take care of them and their customers-- Rixen is the only shop that I've found that can. read more
