These guys really helped me out! My car was diagnosed at a different shop needing a transmission replacement. The car was jerk-stopping while driving with no check engine light. Since the car had 95K miles I did not want to put a used transmission in it since the car had low miles. For me it would either be a rebuild or a remanufactured trans. The remanufactured trans were not available so it narrowed it down to a rebuild option that the original diagnosing shop would not be able to do. I called Rich at Riverside Transmission Center and made an appointment to have the car checked out. I had it towed in at lunchtime on Friday and he would check it out the same day. He called at the end of Friday to let me know that they needed another hour on Monday morning to be sure. It was no problem for me. Rich called on that Monday and told me that he hooked up a computer to the OBDII port and noticed that the speed reading on the computer was different than the speedometer. He then gave me good news that the issue was likely a speed sensor and I might not have to change the transmission after all. I gave him the OK to change the speed sensor and worked fine after that. Plus this guess are true locals to the area which I like that. I my self had to pick their brain a bit since I came with my 2000 Silverado with the 4Lslippy (4l60) transmission I wasn't to sure what to do for a trans that would get abused Offroad and they helped. I had a suspected differential leak and grinding sound. When my mechanic wondered about transmission, he recommended RTC to assess my transmission. Right off the bat, Rich gave me straight talk and friendly encouragement to bring in and check. Luckily, it wasn't the transmission, but a wheel bearing, which my mechanic had missed. Thinking I would now have to go back to my mechanic, since this was a transmission shop, Rich took the job on himself and replaced the wheel bearing and discovered the differential "leak" was actually from a loose coolant hose connection above the differential. Although my transmission was fine, I think had that been the issue, I would have been confident Rich and his team would have sufficiently fixed any transmission problem. I would highly recommend RTC. I come from a mechanic's family, and it's been my experience that it's hard to find a trustworthy transmission shop. Almost as hard as it is to find a good dentist. read more

Absolutely appalling experience here. I recently finished a 2 year build on a 1972 gmc k5 jimmy with an lsx454 . The shop who built my truck said they were going to get me a "built" 4l80e which my holley management system and motor call for and it would come from riverside transmission center. They used hp tuners to give me a basic drivability centered tune and recommended i go straight to a tuner to have it dialed in and dyno etc. so i did. The tuner did everything and all seemed fine until the end when they test drive it. He couldn't get it to start in first, only second. They took a closer look and realized i had a 4l80 not a 4l80e. They recommended i put the right one in. I left and on the way home my truck blew out 2 pistons and the transmission as well . Done. Later found out it was because of being overworked since the trans was wrong. I called holley to confirm and they told me the first gen 4l80 doesn't match up with my setup and wouldn't work at all. Super frustrating especially since the builder told Rich exactly what motor etc it was for. I called rich and he said they're "all the same" which is the first straight up lie. After having to get at least 5 people including holley to tell me it needs the later generation 4l80e, Rich finally got me sorted out with one. Or so i thought. It was the "e" and my truck did go into first so i thought he we must be good now. Oh by the way, rich refused to pay for the first replacement. The owner of the shop who built my truck had to pay for it which I appreciated very much that at least he made things right. I still had to pay 8k to rebuild my motor which was caused by the WRONG trans BUT i was happy someone helped. Back to the replacement... new tune once that was in so there goes another 800 on top of the first 800. Rich said we are good up to 800 hp on the new "built" proper 4l80e. From day 1 it slipped a tiny bit sobi babied the truck for 250 miles. Second trans blew grenaded while cruising at 65 mph barely touching the gas pedal. First rich said he needed to see it then told the shop once they pulled it that it wasnt his fault and he wouldn't comp or even discount a new or rebuilt one. So 4k for that one, 4k for the first one, 8k for the motor rebuild that was a brand new 22k lsx454 and now i have to go buy one or rebuild this POS they sold us. I wouldnt trust these con artists with a bone stock newer model car, they clearly lied about both units being built and don't even know theres a difference between certain models and generations of a 4l80. Absolute nightmare, their series of mistakes cost me and the shop close to 20k in unnecessary added coats and they refuse to make it right. Never, ever use this shop if you want a reliable vehicle!! read more

Had transmission rebuilt for 3125.00 on my Ford 150 Lariat. After getting it back sounds like something making a noise it never made before. Take it to my mechanic find out transmission Mount and hose is leaking transmission fluid. Take it back and the the owners son tells me 150 dollars to replace just the hose and clamp it plus nothing is wrong with mount. Funny how they get over 3k for my tranny rebuild and now I have more problems. Worse place ever and not honest. Sad they take advantage of a lady thinking she knows nothing. read more

Just picked my truck up from Riverside transmission Center. Truck had transmission replaced in June. Went on trip for Veterans Day and noticed hard shifts and slow reverse engagement. Had truck towed in for warranty work. No questions asked Rich had transmission pulled and checked. Found bad torque converter, replaced converter and several friction pads parts fluids filters gaskets no charge. Truck was dropped on Wednesday mid day got truck back Friday afternoon. First Time Visited this place, I had my transmission serviced. They were great. They actually serviced the transmission by removing the pan, changing the filter and inspecting the transmission. Never again will I go to a jiffy type lube place. They cost is about the same but do a better quality service. Also a few months, after this service my rear seal blow out. They fixed it in one day. From my experience and in my opinion, they are crooks wearing a suit and tie. You have no idea who is working on your car, plus the guy that checks you in at the dealership is on commission. Initially I was skeptical with this shop after reading some of the reviews in which the price of the estimate rose suddenly after the repair was started. My vehicle needed a transmission and I was quoted a lower price than what I ended up paying by about $800 dollars. I understand that it is extremely hard to correctly quote something like a transmission until you open it up and see what you have inside, so I went ahead with the repair even after being notified of this price increase. My son's Ford F250 broke down and we figured out it was the transmission. I'm a decent car mechanic and I did a diagnostic test on the transmission. I figured out it was the solenoid pack in the 4R100 Ford transmission. Got the Chinese made solenoid pack from O'Reilly's Auto Parts for $240 and installed it. That didn't fix it. I figured it had to be a sensor. I replaced 2 of the sensors. Still didn't work. So I figure out it had to be a short in the wiring from the computer to the solenoid pack. I couldn't find a problem and it turned out to be just too much for me. My son had the truck towed over to a car repair shop in Riverside. This shop has been good to us and the prices were decent, too. Well, they said the transmission was shot and it needed to be replaced and it would cost somewhere around $2,500. My son felt sick. I called a shop that only worked on transmissions. Rich answered the phone and I explained the problem and he said it sounds like the transmission may just have electrical issues. I felt better after talking to Rich so I had the truck towed over to Riverside Transmission Center. Rich said the diagnosis will be around $90 and he'll call me if it goes over that amount, depending on how much time he spends on it. I told him it has new sensors and solenoid pack. He called me back later in the day and said he found an issue with the O2 sensor, but that wouldn't fix the main issue. I told him go ahead and keep diagnosing the transmission. He called me the next day and said he found the problem. It was the solenoid pack. The same (Chinese made) solenoid pack I had just purchased from O'Reilly. I told him to go ahead and replace it with a Ford solenoid pack. He did. He called me later that day the the truck was fixed and ready to be picked up. Needless to say, my son and I were both very excited and happy. The American made solenoid pack was a lot more expensive, but if I would had used the American made solenoid pack, it would have worked. Rich found the problem and fixed it for only $900. The other garage wanted to charge $2,500 for a rebuilt transmission. I can't say enough good things about Rich and Riverside Transmission Center. He saved us a lot of money and unneeded aggravation. Thank you Rich. You don't go to the dermatologist when your feet hurt. Then why would you go to an automotive repair shop when you have transmission issues? Next time I have transmission problems, I'm going to bring it to Riverside Transmission Center. Thanks again Rich. read more
