First of all I like that you have to know where it is to find it. We got lucky and stumbled upon this gem. Sharon and Donna were delightful and made us feel like we were walking into ours sister's house! My daughter loves fish and chips but is very picky. This place won number one in her book and mine as well. The batter is thin and crispy no greasy mess. The french fries were crispy and seasoned perfectly even the coleslaw tasted fresh and homemade. These were the best fish and chips I've ever had outside of London, and maybe even better. They were light and not greasy or oily. I ate all 3 of my fish! The chips (aka fries) were seasoned which was great. It was a rainy mid-November night so we took these back to our rental. Look forward to visiting sometime and eating in the nice seating area. This is great find for the little town of Nehalem. The quality is right up there with any other contenders on the Oregon Coast. A bit tricky to find- even with GPS, I had driven all the way down to Wheeler before turning around...lol They do have a sign out on the street, but it's easy to miss at first. The business is in a food cart and is hidden behind other buildings. Follow the "fish steps" and you'll find the food cart and some tables set up at a pleasant location along the river. As for the fish and chips? What can you say? As good as it gets... crispy batter, flaky cod. The season fries were perfectly done. The coleslaw was fresh and homemade. We have kayaked the Nehalem River/Bay and stayed in Manzanita many times over the years, and never knew of this place until recently researching for a place to eat this weekend due to our favorite restaurant in nearby Wheeler having closed. Today (Saturday) was a glorious October day on the Oregon Coast and we hit the tides just right. We pulled our kayaks out at the boat dock right next to Riverside Fish and Chips in the mid-afternoon. We knew there would be a wait (called them earlier), so after placing our order, we relaxed on the dock until hearing them call our name (yes, we could hear it from the dock.) I make it a habit to sample fish and chips at every new restaurant I go to if it's on the menu (to include Canada, Great Britain and Ireland) and I can safely say that the many glowing reviews you'll read here are spot on. These are some of the best fish and chips I've ever had... tender, flavorful fish, and that crust, oh, that crust... light, flaky and wonderfully seasoned. My wife's Pulled Pork Tacos were a big hit with her... she wasn't sure they would be something special, but said the combination of flavors was unique and exceptional. I had a three-piece order, but could easily have eaten four or more they were that delicious (and I was that hungry.) My wife's eyes were twinkling as she watched me eat the last morsel of fish and said... "So, are you going to need a cigarette after that, Sweetheart!" We've been married forty years and she's still got that great sense of humor (and those great legs!) :0) Kudos to the owners and staff for once again reminding us that some of the most delicious culinary surprises can be found in the most out-t\of-the-way and charming places. We are telling our friends and family about this wonderful establishment and now consider ourselves low-frequency "regulars" whenever we visit the coast. Cheers! read more

Hands down the best fish and chips I've ever had! The owner is so sweet and always greets us with a smiling face. The prices are reasonable for the food and the quality of it shows. They make their own batter, tarter sauce, coleslaw (they even shred the cabbage for it!). My husband and I have only had the fish & chips so I can't attest to the tacos but the fish and fries come out crispy but not greasy. I crave their fish & chips when I'm hungry and we live 2 hours away! Their dining area is also great for small families and couples with a pup like us! :) read more

If this food truck was visible from the road traffic would grind to a halt on 101. In Nehalem, just behind the antique shop is quite possibly the best fish and chips shop in the world. I love fish and chips had them all over, hole in the wall and high brow restaurants. These ladies do it very, very well. Alaskan cod in a beer batter that is absolutely the best. Overall great; we had the fish and chips. My only complaint was the fries were way too salty (the flavor and cook were great though). I think they'd be perfect with half the amount of seasoning on them. The fish, tartare sauce, coleslaw, and custom service were amazing.
