I am doing this review with a very heavy heart:(( I've been going to Riverside for my birthday for over at least 6 years, maybe longer. I don't know what happened! This year, my girlfriends and I went as a group for lunch (on my birthday 3/16/26) It was terrible. The service was GREAT! But the crawfish and crab legs have absolutely no seasoning. How is this possible is Louisiana??? There must be something wrong. I hope this is explainable. I have referred SO many people to eat those amazing crab legs and now I feel regretful. I'd like to say people told me to go there to get a hamburger steak because they are good.. water couldnt save that salty burnt hamburger steak. My fiance and I went it wasn't good at all I ordered the 10 piece shrimps they had no flavor , tastes like oil and mushy. .. I worked in the restaurant Industry for 17 plus years.. that isn't how you cook shrimps. Felt bad for the server because the food was terrible still tipped an unworthy amount. What a gem! Stopped here while passing through Louisiana on I-20. Food was all from scratch, EXTREMELY fresh seafood, all cooked to perfection. Had seafood platter with Fried Shrimp and Catfish, and Etouffe. Best Etouffe I have had in years! Had a Bacon cheeseburger with jalapeños and "sloppy fries" (chili and cheese). Bacon-wrapped stuffed Jalapeños were stuffed with sausage and were great. Top it off with a spicy cole-slaw that was the cook's own creation and was soooo good. Everyone who was in there ordered crawfish, which leads me to believe it must be pretty darn amazing too. Waitresses were friendly and took good care of us. Got to talking with the cook about his beef po-boys (he smokes all the meat himself) and he gave us a sample of the meat to try... it melted in your mouth and was full of flavor! Restaurant is in the downtown area 2 blocks from Ouachitaw River, parking is ample as long as you are in a personal vehicle...we were in our 18-wheeler with a 53' spread axle trailer...if it would have been during the week there would have been no way for us to get there and park anywhere. We have frequently gone to riverside over the years . We went for my birthday last weekend , we ordered 5lbs each of crawfish . The server brought 1 five bound bag that was spicy . We liked that but the the borough the second bag it didn't have any spice and was falling apart it had been over cooked and sat out too long . I ask for sausage and beer they bought some bad sausage . Gave me one beer , in the past I've been given a bucket for the group and we are charged per beer we drink . When we finished the server said we could just take the un drank beer with us 3 beers and I said I got beer at home he then stated well I payed for them already sooooooo. I ask him to take them off the bill he said he did but it was obvious he did not . I'm sure he enjoyed the beers he charged me for as well as the tip I left . I hope it made his night better he seemed like he needed it . Anyway I hope you enjoy this review and I'd just go somewhere else to get the crawfish. read more

Best crawfish, shrimp, and ettoufe in the northern Louisiana area. Super friendly staff. Cozy spot for you and your loved one. Sweet tea is just perfecto. This visit was a disappointment. We were expected the crawfish to still be small at this point in the season. They were a reasonable size. However the amount of salt was over the top. The crawfish were dirty and and the heat and flavor was okay. The iced tea was about as dark as the West Monroe tap water in color and about as tasty. Service was great and our food came out quick. Mixed feelings about this one... the server was great. The food was very fresh and flavorful. The prices was good as well! However... in the bathroom., there was all types of bugs including roaches on the fly trap. We informed the staff and they were very appreciative of the feedback and apologized. Not fancy, but food is OUTSTANDING!!! Wife had Kickin Shrimp and I had the Seafood Platter. The fish and shrimp were cooked perfectly! The batter on the fish had great flavor and was not too thick. The etouffee had great flavor and was the right thickness. The hush puppies were big, crispy on the outside, soft inside, cooked just right, and had the right amount of zip and sweetness. This is a negative star review. I've come here for my birthday for over 15 years. This year was a deal breaker. I lost my appetite when I walked into the patio area and just smelled what I could only imagine was rancid general uncleanliness of the whole area. Pretty sure there's a bad drug/drinking on the job habit for a majority of the workers here, could just tell from the look in their eyes and the way they floated around. Slurred words and super forgetful. The tubs your crawfish get poured into are pretty much already dirty, they just rinsed em out with a water hose, no telling how long it's been since they've seen soap or been dried. The tables were so gross I was getting a shoulder workout just keeping my elbows off the table while I attempted to dig out the few acceptable crawfish I found. Best etouffee I've ever had. It was a crawfish etouffee. Rich, creamy, spicy, flavorful, and deep. No way I could make that. And the portion size was enormous. Under $10. It's a winner. My buddy had a fried seafood platter. It looked kinda underwhelming but he said it wad good. We had a couple oyster stuffed, bacon wrapped shrimp that were a home run and a dozen boiled shrimp that were huge. The shrink were a perfect texture, well seasoned, and fresh. First time visiting Louisiana and I sure am glad I made a stop here when I was passing through. It was a cold day with a high 39 degrees. Once you entered you felt the warmth of the nice heaters they had on the walls. That is what made me decide to eat in. I did 3 pounds of craw fish and 12 large shrimp with some corn and potatoes. First time I have had crawfish cooked this way and I already miss this place dearly. Crawfish was seasoned so well and came out nice and hot. If I am ever back in this area i will make it a priority to come back. The crawfish speaks for itself. It is the best in the NELA area and I have eaten them everywhere! Last Thursday I actually had the Ribeye steak and was really good. Cooked just as I ordered. OK....Riverside is an odd breed. More times than not the service sucks so bad I wanna get pissed. But I will keep coming back. Why? I few reasons, let me explain. Crawfish - I only visit when they have crawfish. Sure....I guess they have good burgers and all but who cares. I go for the crawfish tent. Live music - the local music scene struggles - any establishment that supports them....I support and so should you. Dance floor - I love to dance and I love watching drunk people (especially older folks) dance just as much. Word to the wise - get a bucket of beer with your crawfish on account of the bad service, you will want to save yourself from that disaster. read more

This place is great for what it is: a good crawfish joint. I was in Monroe on a business trip, and when asked what I wanted for dinner, I immediately wanted crawfish. I have grown up with my dad making crawfish the proper way, and I cannot seem to find any place that will satisfy. This is probably one of the few restaraunts that satisyfy my crawfish wants. The man selling the crawfish was incredibly rude and acted like his job was the hardest one in the world. I ordered extra corn and potatoes; NONE of which were put into my bag. I drive 1 and a half hours to get crawfish from here. 1st few times amazing. Now it's over cooked and sour tasting. I'm Cajun and know my crawfish. I judge crawfish off of taste, texture and juice dripping down my hands...they do NOT have good crawfish. I called 3 times now, trying to complain, and they say "I'll call you back"!! Never do!! $34 for 3lbs of crawfish, 2 budlights, 2 potatoes, and a sausage link (that they charge you separately for). We then ordered 2 burgers because we were still starving (even after already spending $34) and asked to speak to the manager to let him know about a quarter of the crawfish we got couldn't be peeled. When we told him he got very defensive even though we didn't ask for anything and told us to "not come back then." The waitress apologized and canceled our burger orders. He could have made an extra $20 (since the burgers were $9.99 a piece) had he just not been an asshole. Obviously won't go here anymore. I suggest you don't either. This place is the most disgusting place I've ate in ever. My wife got her drink and it looked like a freaking booger on side of the cup from the coke fountain. It was just from the dirty fountain machine. The waitress never came by for refills either way. I ordered 2 chilli dogs that had the cheapest .89 a pack weenies in them. One of the waitress was clearly on a smoke break the entire time we were there which seemed like an eternity smelling of cigarettes just in time to ring us up. I normally travel to Louisiana during crawfish season just to try riverside (food truck). This past weekend I tried the actual location. Online states the restaurant opens at 10AM. I arrived at 1:32 PM. A guy came around corner & stated we don't open until exactly 2PM. So as I waited in my car & another customer went in & came out with their prior to 2PM. So I assumed that if you are friends with the workers you can get you it food at any time. I went in & placed my order. The lady gave a ticket & I asked her do they call my name or number on this ticket? How do I get my food? The lady told me to walk to the back & give the ticket to the man in the red building. I walked to the back & no one was there to assist me. Another customer walked up a few mins later as well. I walked back to the restaurant & asked if someone could help. A young lady tried to get the food together but she didn't understand the ticket. The guy came out & started assisting but didn't seem as if he wanted to work that day. The employee told me that they open at exactly 2PM than someone should have been working at exactly 2PM.The shrimp was just plain boiled with no seasoning & butter poured over the top. I asked the cashier when I ordered was there season butter & she stated that they add seasoning to butter boiled with the food. Let's just say this was a waste of $80 as nothing had any season. Decent. I have been here 2 times, and I will probably come back, but not for crawfish. First time, I got crawfish, and it was old and reheated. So the second time I got a shrimp poboy. This was very good, easily better than crawfish. The live music was also very entertaining. The only real bad thing is that the drinks are sour, and they make you spend extra money by putting so much ice in your cup that its hard to put the straw in. I had been told my relatives to watch out for Riverside Coney Island. Specifically, the fact that their crawfish are hit or miss. Well I can say that it was definitely miss when I went. Being new to Monroe, I've been trying to find a go to crawfish spot so I still wanted to give them a shot. I arrived around 6 p.m. and ordered 3 pounds. NEVER AGAIN! Not only were the crawfish clearly old and obviously reheated, but nearly all of them were dead prior to being boiled. All I could do was apologize to the crawfish! I don't normally do this but I have to blast riverside Coney Island tonight. We have been eating crawfish at least twice a week. They have been big and great. Perfectly happy customer, but tonight we were disappointed. 95 percent were so small. What we call baitfish. I called and the waitress said they mix the bags and sometimes you get small ones and that we bring them back and talk to the owner. Well the owner tried saying they are all small. When telling what his waitress said he didn't care. He didn't offer to swap them out and said no to a refund. You just lost my business with your lack of customer service. I strongly don't recommend riverside anymore. They could care less about your business. Take your money some where else. read more
