Good produce with better selection of organics than most other local markets, great selection of ev chargers

Be careful when buying sale items. They had a big sale sign right under a line of Lifeway Kefir 1% plain. There were no others. I checked the sale sign, and it said it was for Lifeway 1% so I thought great and bought 3 for what I thought was $4.99. But I was charged full price $7.48. When I called customer service, they said I got the organic which was not on sale. So they had put all organic ones out right over that sign. They must have all been organic because I pulled the first 3. All the customer service person said was "yea our signs should be better. Plus I noticed things I buy at Big Y were $2 or more expensive here. These are hard times so just a warning, watch out if you buy stuff there. read more

Plenty of parking, high ceilings, really great products. My favorite is their variety of apples.

Shop local. Members own the co-op. Great variety of food items. Staff is well trained and friendly. Solar powered with car charging stations. Prices are higher than regular supermarkets but the quality is higher in many instances. Love the black bears around the store which are indicative of the area. Butcher and fish counter are wonderful and they rotate types of sausage. Wines and local liquor also available. Small town feel. read more

Feels like a dark skit out of Portlandia Decent selection of organic and gluten free foods, but service needs work. EVERY time I shop at the Northampton OR Easthampton store, there are a handful of workers that are downright hostile toward customers. Snapping at customers, eye rolls, kind of a weird snootiness. Not sure that that's about. Glad I don't work there! read more

My "strength and stay" or my primary market. Great quality. My cousin says it is the nicest grocery store in which she's ever been. But overall it's simple honest and sincere in what they do. The best in everything without any false frills. My kinda place! read more

Even though it's much bigger than the original location, it doesn't feel as though the selection is dramatically better. The service is quite bad, it's almost as if the cashiers resent that there are customers and are visibly angry at them. read more

I posted this on yelp about a month ago but to the Northampton store did not realize they have two different listings here... my experience has no changed and the rude disrespectful manager Jennifer is still there. My Easthampton store experience. Over priced for what you get, extremely rude and disrespectful manager on the front end named Jennifer. I have never experienced such a horrible miserable person like this. I was waiting to cash out and she comes over and reprimanded the nice cashier I had even making them come to tears all out in the open on the sales floor. This is not the first time and I am sure it will not be the last time I experience this Jennifer's rudeness. Is this the face of your co-op? Her tone and condescending ways have no place in the co-op! It's actually one of the reasons I have held off on getting an ownership for so long. I know many who do not shop here anymore specifically because of this rude manager. The co-op needs to make some serious changes in their management team. read more

The River Valley Co-op has a thriving location in Northampton, and recently opened this other location in Easthampton. Super convenient for those living in Easthampton and south, right across from a Cumberland Farm gas station. This location has lots of covered parking spaces outside and charging stations for electric cars. Inside, the space is cozier than the Noho location and features warm yellow light that's nicer for those who may feel anxious shopping. Great selection of local and imported produce, as well as shiny new bins of snacks (many types of trail mix), plenty (I mean PLENTY) of vegan and gluten-free products, and lots of prepared foods ready to go. Coolhaus vegan ice cream sammies, anyone?? They also have a cafe that offers food prepared for you when you order it. Checkout area has both a section for people with just a few things or for people with lots and lots of groks. Indoor and outdoor seating is ample. I wish we could take our kitchen compost in as a small household of dedicated composters, but it's always nice to have space to improve. The store accepts EBT SNAP benefits and has a program where SNAP users can get a certain percentage off their groceries. Both co-ops are owned by customers, with a low-income pricing option, and co-owners get coupons and special deals at special times. Check out the Co-op! read more

Wide variety of organic foods , small bulk purchases of nuts , rice , dry food , bran , spices available . Grind fresh peanut butter too. And wines , meats, local grown fruits and vegetables in season . Two locations , Northampton on Rte 5 and another on Rte 10 , Easthampton. Prices vary some higher than big box stores and some bulk are a good value The is a membership program which saves money if you shop there often but I am not one nor do I have any info on. read more

i understand that the prices cannot be the same as in large chain grocery stores so this is not entering into my assessment of this store. The place is fairly new so everything is in great shape and I love that the first department you walk in is the produce department as that is the main reason I like to shop there! There is also a great bulk section, something you don't find in big box stores. The staff is knowledgeable and courteous. I really appreciate the fact that it's a locally owned business, as I feel strongly that we need to support local establishments. and, they're open until 10 p.m.! read more

The manager at the Easthampton store needs a bath and a better temperament. Also, don't try returning the rotten fish you just bought there, or anything because they think they're not liable and need the FDA and NIST to fine them for their weights and measures that cheat the customer.
