10/10 best avocado toaster I've ever had and I lived in Los Angeles for more than 10 years. The salad was just okay but very colorful and fresh. My husband thought the vegan breakfast burrito was very good.

Super cute coffee shop! I've been wanting to try this place for a while now. They serve Stumptown coffee, which is one of my favorites. Came in with a friend for breakfast around 9am on a Wednesday. They weren't too busy, but a few people at tables inside and outside. It's a decent sized coffee shop with plenty of tables in the windows on both sides of the building. Love all the plants inside. It gives it a welcoming, cozy vibe. Employees were friendly and helpful. Food was fresh and delicious. We ordered an iced coffee, frappe, breakfast burrito and breakfast sandwich. Everything was great! No complaints. Overall a great first visit. I would love to come back and try their famous marionberry scones! Would recommend.

This place is such a cool find! Tucked away in an old bank building with just a simple neon sign out front, the interior has a fantastic atmosphere. While I haven't tried the more formal food menu yet, the coffee was solid and the three different pastries we tried were all quite tasty. My only small critique is the layout; the ordering station is right in the middle, which makes the waiting area feel a bit chaotic and like you're constantly in someone's way. That aside, it's a great spot and I'll definitely be back to sit down for a meal next time!

The day I went to River Maiden, I happen to drop off a delivery in Vancouver. My friend that was staying nearby, says he loves Vancouver, he loves coffee. He did a search on Yelp and found River Maiden. The day we dined here, it looked like there were renovations going on, so seating was a little limited. One of available tables hadn't been cleared of dirty dishes. The previous occupants must not realized that they should have bussed their own table. We sat at the only other available table. The table was wobbly. Shortly after we sat, someone vacated their spot and bussed their own table, so we moved there. The table was wobbly there as well. I ordered the Amaze Bowl. Brown rice and black beans topped with cilantro garlic sauce, avocado, pickled cabbage, sliced sweet peppers, roasted sweet potato, micro greens, red pepper pesto, and toasted seed blend. I asked if the sauce was vegan and I was assured it was. It was pretty delicious! I don't remember what my friend got, but I do remember that he enjoyed it. We enjoyed all the plants and art decor. Food was good. Not in that area very often, but if I were, I would go back!

This was our first stop at River Maiden and it was well worth it! The parking lot is a little undersized, but there is a lot nearby that works too. Inside was cozy, the plants made us feel right at home. Keep an eye out for the April plant swap! We ordered and only had to wait about 5 minutes for our coffee. It was busy and they were packed, so that felt fast to me. The latte I got was light and flavorful. It was a great roast! We will definitely be back! Great service, great coffee!

Wow the ambiance is just stellar! Plenty of breakfast options to choose from and I love that they have boba as an option. Plants inside are beautiful and well taken care of. Pretty busy and finding a spot to sit can be tricky if you're in during a rush.

Really enjoyed eating here. Very yummy food, a surprising variety. It is a little but pricey but not to a point of being unreasonable. The ambiance is really fun, there's plants everywhere so it makes you feel very cozy but it also has a sort of tropical bar feel like restaurants in Costa Rica had. There were even fliers about why you should vote yes on the library initiative. Which I love because I love places being involved in their community. I would probably come back.

The hubs and I are always looking for a low/no carb option for breakfast and after looking at the menu on line, saw that River Maiden has a Sunrise Salad with topping of scrambled eggs scoop or chicken for $3 extra. The salads came out fast and were chock full of fresh greens, pickled onions, toasted sweet potatoes, pumpkin seeds and colorful peppers with a nice vinaigrette - substantial and delicious. though the scoop of scrambled eggs was a bit weird and I would have preferred a fried egg. I had a 10 oz Americano which was good. My hub's 12 oz brewed coffee was rather weak and kinda tasteless surprisingly. Maybe it's just the times. but $43 felt pretty high for two salads and two pretty small coffees. I love all the plants and feel like I'm getting my daily O2 fix just by lingering there. All in all a nice place with a relaxed vibe.

What an absolute delight. LOVE to find little establishments like this. Ordered the SAUSAGE BREAKFAST BURRITO and was blown away - best one ever. Trying to figure out what set it apart and realized it's the Perfect ratio of filling: Homemade sausage pattie, crazy potato hash mix and fluffy eggs combined with a surprisingly delectable red bell Pepper concoction. And the darn thing is HUGE and definitely shareable. It has The PERFECT BITE. Couldn't resist the baked goods, marionberry muffin and lemon Poppyseed were pure decadence but the cookie was FIRE. Pure Fire. Loved it all. DO NOT MISS this spot!

Great coffee, very chill environment, friendly staff, and a good selection of pastries and breakfast items. The pastries are all made daily and the selection varies based on material availability. They have a wide selection of drinks and flavors to choose from. They also make great lattes with seasonal specials. We tried the Espresso, regular latte, Holiday Spice latte (tasted like eggnog) and an iced honey oat latte. All tasted very good with great flavor. For breakfast we tried the Christmas-style Avocado Toast and the Marigold style avocado toast. They both were delicious! The bacon and cheddar biscuit was also very fresh and tasted great. The Marionberry scone was the highlight and tasted excellent! This has become yet another great coffee house for us to visit regularly... highly recommended!

HUGELY IMPORTANT: they close at 3pm but they actually stop serving food at 2pm. This is the kind of place that you go when you've got lots of time to kill and want to relax and let the world pass you by while enjoy a coffee. Your main objective probably shouldn't be to stop in to grab a quick bite. For me the wait was obnoxiously long for a sandwich but maybe for someone in a different headspace it would be unnoticeable... like if you were enthralled in a book you were reading... or working on... a screenplay? I dunno. I just wanted a sandwich cause I heard they were good. Did the drive-thru. Sat in the car for a good 17 minutes in a completely empty parking lot except for some sucker who also did the drive-thru (who showed up right as my sandwich was brought to my designated parking spot.) Sandwich WAS tasty. Smaller than expected for the price but good quality.

Omgosh!! Everything was AMAZING! The marigold toast, their VERY tasty test on avocado toast was so flavorful! The yogurt, granola with berries was so fresh... And the breakfast Sando was the best breakfast sandwich I've had and you can add so many things to it.... Everything was REALLY yummy! And the coffee was artistic and did not disappoint! This is such a cute little coffee place! I ordered a coffee and Greek yogurt bowl. I wasn't a huge fan of the "pour over" coffee. It was a little bitter for my taste but the Greek yogurt bowl made up for it! The berries were so sweet and juicy, the yogurt super creamy and the granola had the perfect blend and texture- perfectly yummy! The staff was also very sweet. Gave us a cookie since it was our first time. It had so many chocolate chips. There was also a little kid area with toys in the corner to keep our little one busy and I could actually enjoy my meal! It was alright.. tbh I could've made a better breakfast sandwich but I wanted to give them a chance. I ordered the Breakfast Sando and to me it was basic, simple ingredients no pop of flavor just something I could've made at home. Definitely better as a coffee shop. I also got the matcha lemonade and that was by far the most satisfying. Was really well made and slightly sweet/sour. Refreshing and had no complaints. My most biggest problem was I ordered a small caramel macchiato and I have no idea what I got. It tasted burnt and wasn't even filled all the way. Had no caramel flavoring or foam. It literally tasted like an Americano just burnt expresso & hot water. Probably will be trying something else. Thanks though. read more

One of my favorite places for coffee + a bite with family or when I have a few hours to spare before work. The iced Carmel latte with 2 extra shots is my favorite! There's a different food option on the daily that's fresh and tasty! Plenty of seating, friendly staff and ample parking! read more

This is a little quirky place, came here for breakfast with a friend. Excellent customer service, great coffee, food was good. I wanted a little more spice or flavors, but that could be my pregnant preferences at the time. Between the three of us we had a coffee, a soy mocha, a chocolate chip cookie, Christmas toast, breakfast sando, and a bacon cheddar scone. All of it was very good. All three of us tried a little bit of everything and all three of us thought everything was very good. I thought the Christmas toast was special. It sounds a little crazy on the menu but it was great. The service was very polite and the covid precautions were excellent. read more

Great coffee and great baristas and very kind owners! Breakfast menu is super tasty and their cookies are BOMB! If you aren't careful, they'll be gone by mid-afternoon. So get one! Cheddar bay biscuit with an americano makes me dream it's the weekend so I can be there and devour it. The marigold toast was all the things I love, all piled on top of a toast.... Arugula, balsamic vinegar, avocado... Yumm!! I can't wait to try their cappuccino and maybe the Christmas toast next time? Or should I try their breakfast sando next? But really.... I've been dying to try their mochi donuts but they don't make them on the days I can make it out there. But oneday I will be able to get there on the day they have them! I've been there 3 weekends in a row and it's becoming my weekend spot read more

Not only is their coffee excellent, but their pastries and food are extraordinary. All baked goods are made in house and that is hard to find in these times. The service whether drive-thru or in the cafe is also friendly and efficient. It has a coffee house vibe with great outdoor seating in nice weather. It's fun to bring our dog and enjoy a leisurely time. read more

I love this place. It's cute. It's quaint, it's clean. It's deceptive from the outside based on what the building looks like. The scones are AMAZING! The almond milk latte I had was pretty good. Not the best but, I'm an espresso snob. I think my shots were pulled a little long and over extracted because the drink was a bit bitter. But not gonna take away stars for that because the milk was steamed perfectly and the latte was still nice. The staff is GREAT! The woman who helped me at the counter (maybe the owner?) was genuinely nice and enjoyed being there. I love to see people who enjoy their job...especially when it involves customer service. I can't wait to go back and try their other stuff. Great atmosphere and the menu is priced fairly. Oh and lots of vegetarian options. Oh and get the marionberry scone! Soooo freaking delicious! read more

It was OK. Nothing really was overwhelmingly great. Sadly 16oz was their largest latte. The hash crowns were a herbal seasoned tater tot that had a horrible after taste. I cud only eat 2. I fed them to my pom-a-poo and she wudnt eat them. The egg sandwich was pretty dang good. I added bacon & avocado at I think it was $2 for 3 or 4 pieces of avocado. Bacon added $3. But it comes on a monster thick ciabatta roll. If you like all that breading I guess it's for you. Cute little cafe but currently closed for inside dining. Only driveup & walkup window service. read more

This former Bank of America has never felt so cozy. I love the local touches, the no-fuss loyalty program, and of course the coffee... But the food! Pretty, tasty, healthy. The Marigold toast makes me love breakfast again and puts me in a hell of a mood for the day. Go. Linger. Smile. read more

I love this diamond in the rough! Amazing baked goods made in house and solid coffee. It can get really loud though due to the cement floors and flat ceiling, so if you're going to work, bring headphones. Also, wifi can be spotty. Lovely and friendly waitstaff! read more

History

Established in 2002.

River Maiden began on Mother's Day weekend of 2002 at the Vancouver Farmers Market. It began as little more than a card table (with a bed sheet for a table cloth) to showcase founder Melissa Layman's stunning handcrafted jewelry. In September 2005, River Maiden began selling Stumptown Coffee alongside the jewelry to complement one handrafted art with another. Soon thereafter, the coffee's ever increasing popularity became a River Maiden focus. Since then, River Maiden's knowledge and passion for great coffee and killer food has only grown. Welcome to the beautiful neighborhoods of the Heights! I started River Maiden in May of 2002 to showcase my handmade jewelry at the Vancouver Farmers Market. When the opportunity arose in September of 2005 to add coffee to the River Maiden experience, I took the leap. Since that time it's been a wonderful journey into coffee and food in the community of Vancouver, WA. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their continued support over the years and invite you to experience River Maiden and our commitment to handcrafted.

Yes, the Avocado toasts come to mind & they have a vegan breakfast sandwich (obviously no dairy there). There may be a few more options. It's definitely worth checking out!

River Maiden uses an exclusive blend just for us from our friends at Stumptown. It’s called Fortitude. It features more stone fruit and chocolate notes, less of the smoky Sumatra.

When i first saw the pictures on their yelp page, i was like wow. This place looks amazing and the food looked so vibrant. When i came in and tried it, it was nothing but amazing! I ordered 2 of their sandos as well as an oatmeal and a Mocha. The sandos were amazing. They came out very warm and tasted really good. The oatmeal was just on another level. I have never tasted an oatmeal that good! I was like eating it and i'm thinking to myself how can this even be as good as it is! Just amazing. The coffee was literally the best coffee i have had in a long time. I get coffee every day, and starbucks dutch bros and some of the other shops don't come close to these guys. Definitely a new favorite sport of mine. It's too bad they are so out of the way for me, but coming here is well worth it. They have many tables in which you can do some work as well! read more

I just stopped in for the first time and I'm am absolutely in love with this awesome little coffee shop. I'm enjoying free WiFi and the best mocha latte of my life, not to mention a chocolate croissant comparable only to France's own finest bakeries. The staff was helpful and polite, and made my order swiftly and correctly. They helped me get on the WiFi and the seating area is open and nice, with great art on all the walls.
