My sister and I stopped by River Maiden on a Sunday around 11am for some food and coffee. I ordered a Christmas Toast, and my sister ordered a mocha and Marigold Toast. For what it's worth, the food tasted fine. My Christmas Toast was not your basic avocado toast. In fact the avocado was not the highlight of the toast at all. The roasted bell pepper pesto, which was unique to the dish, was literally and figuratively fire. It had a nice spicy kick to it and was deliciously flavorful. I appreciated the pumpkin and sunflower seed toppings as they added an additional crunchy texture to the already crispy toast. As much as I enjoyed the toast, it was not worth the wait. River Maiden was on top of fulfilling drink orders, but they were backlogged in the kitchen. We were told that there was only 1 person in the kitchen during the time, but he or she was really inefficient. The person was cooking orders in batches instead of allowing orders to come out one at a time, so we waited almost 30 minutes for our toasts to come out. This was unreasonable timing in my opinion. I could make avocado toast in 10 min tops even if I was making the pesto from scratch. read more

Spotted this stand alone coffee shop while I was out running errands. Glad we made the stop. Ordered a vanilla latte and a chai. Both drinks were tasty but nothing super exciting. We went through the drive thru and it was unlike most drive thru spots. After ordering and paying we were instructed to pull forward into a designated parking spot. A few minutes later our drinks were delivered car side. It was a unique but I suppose it makes the drive thru lane run quicker than most. The gals who helped us were very nice. read more

All the reviews indicated that we found a gem. Oh boy, were we let down hard. 2 breakfast sandwiches & 2 coffees with a side of tater tots = $40.00. WTF?! They don't even bring it to your table or clean the tables. They auction off your food. (I eventually asked for a hot rag and the barista came over) I could go to Whole Foods and purchase organic eggs, avocado, cheddar, bacon, ciabatta and tots and make 12 breakfast sandwiches for that price. I may even have money left over to buy herbs and make my own fresh garlic aioli. I kid you NOT, they charge you for arugula. This place is an insult to the paying customers who expect more. They get 5-star status simply for having the best breakfast sandwich the Hubs and I have ever had! The scrambled egg is wonderfully fluffy, topped with melty Tillamook cheddar and the toasted ciabatta bun it's served on is perfect. I added Mama's Lil' Peppers to mine for some kick & the Hubs added avocado to his - DIVINE! They have some other options to add to your sammie, depending on what you have a taste for. To go with our breakfast sammies we shared an order of potato crowns which came sprinkled with a bit of rosemary on them - also tasty. Such a lovely little place to enjoy a quick breakfast and a good cup of coffee. We stopped in on a Sunday morning before we headed back home from visiting Portland/Vancouver for the weekend. I found this place on Yelp when we were looking for somewhere to get both coffee and food. Inside is SO cute! I love the plants, succulents, and the rest of the decor. It's nice and open, with a lot of seating around. There were people who had laptops working with the wifi, and people who just stopped in to grab a coffee to go. We ordered at the front. I got a NF vanilla latte and my fiancé got a breakfast sandwich, with sausage, and a cup of orange juice. Everything was perfect! The latte was on point and they even spent the extra time to do a foam design (it's the little things ). The breakfast sandwich was delicious, and the orange juice seemed pretty fresh as well. We swung in to River Maiden for coffee and breakfast while our car was in the shop. In Vancouver, WA. Long story... Anyway, the food was excellent. I scarfed my breakfast sando with ham too fast for any photos. Perfectly prepared eggs and ham on crusty ciabatta with melty cheddar. It was SO GOOD! I was able to get a shot of my wife's marigold toast since she doesn't eat quite as...enthusiastically...as I do. I'm excited to swipe a bite from her while she's distracted. My wife got a latte with oat milk which she described as "gone!" when I asked her how it was. Must have been pretty nice. I got a hazelnut latte which was also gone too soon. The baristas prepared it perfectly to my taste, not too sweet and just the right amount of milk. Dining in the Covid age is weird but the River Maiden staff made it as pleasant as they could. They were helpful and lovely to deal with. The lobby wasn't open for sit-down dining but there were a few tables outside. Too bad it was only 40 degrees out. Absolutely love this place! Their sandwiches, breakfast or lunch are my favorites to order. They have a great pastries. I love their biscuits. I also got hooked on their maple cardamom iced coffee! It was so delightful! They made their syrup in house and so unfortunately I didn't get to enjoy it as much as I'd like to because I think it was seasonal or they ran out lol but I'll be back for sure. I also think they have a really great atmosphere. I love that everything has a bit of a Star Wars theme. the staff is super friendly and always helpful and answering any of my questions. The only downside is the price... I'd love to come here more often but unfortunately it's their items are a bit on the pricey side, so I save it as kind of a treat every once in a while. I'm blown away! Absolutely delicious food. The breakfast burrito was moist and soft, packed with fluffy eggs and crispy tater tots. Went here based on the good reviews but left disappointed. We went through the drive through and ordered breakfast sandwiches but they weren't serving them, despite breakfast hours. That left about two items on the menu, a fruit/yogurt bowl and avocado toast, which we ordered by default. Then we were asked if we wanted to leave a tip. I'm sorry but this was a drive through experience, with an unexpected limited menu, and I do not believe a tip is warranted. I am traveling from the Midwest and am a sucker for a good coffee shop. I was drawn to River Maiden with the promise of a good breakfast sandwich and was not disappointed. From the outside I was a little nervous that this was going to be more of a traditional restaurant/diner than I was planning on, but the inside is a total shift from what you'd expect just looking in from the parking lot. There are clean white walls, a big open space, and a laid back coffee house vibe. Fresh plants give a freshness and funky tiles around the bar give an artistic vibe. If I had more time I would have settled in and done work here all morning. The girl behind the counter was super friendly and laid back. All of the staff were kind to each other and genuinely seemed happy to be there. That's always a plus! I ordered a breakfast sandwich and added avocado and sausage. The flavor was bomb. The eggs were super fluffy and had a great flavor. There was a ton of avocado and the cheddar cheese was awesome. Sausage was seasoned well and not greasy. The bread may have been my favorite part. I believe it was advertised as ciabatta but it was more like a crazy fresh, fluffy English muffin. Whatever it was, I'd like to have it on every breakfast sandwich I have ever. Was a huge sandwich and I'd come back every day if I was in town. I also ordered the hash crowns and they were also good. They had some kind of seasoning on them that made them really flavorful and they were crispy. I'm not sure I'd go back for them but they were good.
