A beautiful coffee spot for solid coffee. AMBIANCE: Whoever decorated this place knows what's up when it comes to coffee shop vibes. There's plenty of seating and a really cute area near the front of the shop. The area is spacious and doesn't feel crowded or cramped. COFFEE: I got their Honey Bloom Latte which is seasonal. Coffee comes through well, not too overwhelmingly sweet. The lavender is floral in the perfect amount with the honey bringing some sweetness to round out the latte. Also the lavender sprig added in was a nice touch for presentation. SERVICE: Very friendly and helpful. OVERALL: One of my go to spots in the downtown Vancouver area. They have other lattes as well, including the dirty horchata which I need to try. They also have some baked goods including concha! Love this spot! read more

Cariño's is rich and comforting with a bit of luxury and ample seating, yet remains warm and inviting. I visited on a Thursday, which happened to be one of their "After Dark" days. The women working were extremely welcoming and shared a great deal about the philosophy of Cariño's. Specifically the desire to create a space for sharing Mexican culture and building community. Being from the SGV in So Cal, it was comforting to see that aspect of my roots being shared here in the PNW. The Drinks: Dirty Horchata: I've been around the block, and this Dirty Horchata is no joke. One sip and I was literally shaking my head; ¡ay, guey, te la volaste! It's the perfect balance of home cooked flavor flavor and a solid caffeine punch. As a So Cal güero loco, I'm telling you, the Dirty Horchata is on point. I'll definitely be ordering this again. Habanero Mexican Mocha: I'll admit, I need to level set my spice expectations now that I live in the PNW. For me, there was only a hint of habanero. I would have enjoyed much more of that smoky, spicy kick. However, the chocolate they use is a massive step up from the "Abuelita" brand familiar from my youth. It was delicious, though next time I'll ask them to up the spice to a level reminiscent of an LA local. Overall, I love the philosophy, the space, and the general acogedora of the shop. It has been hard to find that authentic flavor this far north, but they killed it. As a So Cal güero loco, this place is officially on the map for me. Whenever I'm in downtown Vancouver, I will be sure to stop and kick it for a bit. Almost forgot... I need to try one or two of the pan dulces on my next visit. We love Carino Coffeehouse. We discovered them in early 2022 when we opened a new office in downtown. They basically pumped our new staff full of coffee for the first six months while opening. They're friendly, kind, professional, and they have excellent coffee. They are on-point and have great ambiance. I stopped in here for a coffee. They had a list of their special latte offerings which I chose. After ordering and while paying I was told that they didn't have one of the main ingredients and asked if I still wanted it. I still liked the other ingredients and so I went with it. I was charged 7.34 for a 12 ounce latte. What the actual eff. I was shocked. The menu said 5.50 for a flavored latte so I'm not sure where the added amount came in and especially since my drink was missing a major ingredient that made it a speciality. read more

Beautiful and spacious new (to me) coffee shop in Vancouver! I'm a harsh critic when it comes to lattes and rarely go somewhere new but this place did not disappoint! The latte was delicious and I'd definitely come back and try different fun drinks. They also have a case of pan dulce that I'd like to come back and try. I came on a Monday morning and by 10:30 it was pretty full! Because the space is so open, it was pretty echo-ey, and the conversation volume feels amplified. It's not a big deal, lively vibes are great, but if you're going there to enjoy coffee while working you may want to consider bringing headphones! First time in, got their honey buttercup winter special latte. Great ambiance, the decor is warm toned and peaceful. Saw folks gathering in small groups so seems like a friendly place to camp out and chat for a while. Coffee was good quality but had chunks of peanut butter sitting at the bottoms of the cup, not blended into the drink. It was a little pricey (7.50 for an 8oz specialty latte) and took ten minutes to come out. read more

I was really excited to check out this coffee shop, but after coming here and ordering the dirty horchata, I should have passed and never spent any money here. My drink tasted very watery and had no horchata essence of flavor. I would have rather had an iced americano from anywhere else, that would have tasted better than the drink I got here. I ended up tossing my drink although I had waited over 30 minutes and took only a few sips. For a coffee shop, my drink took way too long. I feel bad for the ONE person they had making all the drinks- especially when there was a consistent line of customers waiting to order inside. The interior is very clean and pretty, but a little empty as well. Layout is a little weird, so while it was busy I wasn't sure where to stand in line or wait for my order. The line or customers waiting for orders blocked the door to enter/exit, so that was a little inconvenient as well. read more

I wanted to love this place. It's beautifully decorated with a cool vibe and super friendly service. I was excited to taste a Mexican specialty latte. Unfortunately, my Dirty Horchata coffee was watery and bland. The foam looked and tasted good nice and fluffy however, once I got past that my coffee tasted artificial. I am not an expert but I am guessing this is not the flavor profile they are going for. Typically, a watery horchata coffee likely means you're not getting enough flavor extraction from either the coffee grounds or the horchata mix. I am hoping since the shop is new they are still working out the best mix ratio. My husband ordered a vanilla latte which was delicious, rich and creamy with a bold coffee forward flavor. He raved about it and he is pretty picky. I hope this isn't a missed opportunity because there are a lot of really good coffee shops in downtown Vancouver but only one Mexican specialty coffee shop. I have mixed feelings - we've tried 3 different pastries and didn't care for any of them. Found them to either be dry or lacking in flavor or both. The hot horchata latte was lacking in espresso flavor, so might be good if you don't want to "taste coffee" the americano was weak, even with an extra shot. however, the Habanero Mocha is to die for. the chocolate quality is wonderful and the spice is perfect. I will come back for this time and time again. I am hoping there will be a change in the kind of espresso they use and that they increase the amount of shots per size (I believe they just do 2 shots no matter the size) read more

I'd been looking forward to trying this place as we were raised on pan dulce and Mexi coffee, plus they tout "culture" in their motto so I was eager to support. I was disappointed today when I finally made it in. The place is clean and has a cute aesthetic. It smelled of Fabuloso rather than pastries or coffee. The service was Slow Slow Slow. Although it was not yet 9am they were sold out of all but three little sweets, had only 2 cookies and a pineapple empanada in their little plexiglass case. I bought the 2 cookies, which didn't taste fresh. The coffee was fine. My sister had the Mexican Chocolate and she wasn't impressed. If you want Mexi, maybe go down to Fourth Plain where the selection is abundant and the pan is made fresh. I would suggest making the music fit the season and honor the culture. The vibe was a bit too sterile for me. Even the dead flower decor (they matched the color scheme) made me sad. Poinsettias are from Mexico, and would have looked gorgeous on that table. Anyway, I wish this business success. With a few changes, it would be so much more inviting. Two cookies, one sticker, and two drinks cost $27 btw. read more

It's beautiful and spacious and every coffee I have tried from their Mexican specialty menu has been as beautiful as the cafe itself! The cafe owners and staff have all been very friendly and informative about their menu. The habanero mocha is as spicy as I imagined, but it was a well-balanced combination and treat. My son loved the concha sweet bread that he tried too. I look forward to going back and trying their house made horchata. Wonderful addition to downtown Vancouver! read more
