I've been in a few times now, have to say I'm very impressed! Everything tastes very fresh- from the coffee, to the breakfast sandwiches, to their amazing cookies (they sell out early sometimes). The breakfast sandwiches are made to order Everytime, and are probably my favorite part of this place. They use Stumptown beans, which I happen to be a total sucker for. One morning, I saw them inspecting a sample of beans, which makes me feel good they are looking out for their QA. The employees have always been friendly, and I've never felt like I was intruding. Very family friendly and welcoming place. They even have a drive through. Definitely a place to check out if you like coffee and food (duh). read more

When I walk through the doors of River Maiden, I can't help but laugh a little to myself. Prior to being a coffee shop, this space was occupied by a dull drivers ed school where I reluctantly spent my Tuesday and Thursday evenings while learning to drive. Who would have guessed that the place I dreaded being around years ago would eventually turn into one of my favorite spots in town! No matter when you stop by River Maiden, you are certain to be greeted by a chipper barista(s) who is eager to serve you something delicious! As one of the few places on this side of the river that uses Stumptown coffee, you are in for a treat with whatever you order. In addition to coffee, there is a variety of teas (Tao of Tea) and tasty looking pastries to suit your mood. I definitely wish a coffee shop like this would have been around to help keep me awake during my drivers ed days! Open from 7am to 7pm every weekday, you really have no excuse not to stop by! Just a heads up, if you are not use to artisan coffee shops, make sure you leave a little extra time if you have someplace to rush off to afterward. Perfection! Stellar service, all of the staff were friendly and helpful. Small but solid menu. I went with the breakfast sandwich, I love that they use cage free eggs. You can add different meats and veggies. I opted to add arugula and avacado, both were very fresh and they piled on plenty of both. The fresh baked bun was so good. This is the first time I am writing a somewhat negative review on a business that I frequent pretty often. First off, their food and drinks are amazing. Seems to be good, fresh, quality ingredients. 5 star rating in this regard. The biggest downfall to this business, which makes it really hard to want to continue coming back and supporting them, is their business practices, and service. They make it feel very inconvenient and sometimes challenging to support them. They will never answer a phone to place an order. Sometimes online order is available, however when they get busy they just turn it off. Then, you have to drive to the location to place your order. After spending 15 minutes in line, you wait another 15 minutes to get your order. When you go to pay for your order they will stick a card reader taped to a selfie stick out the window while you struggle to get your card into the reader. All employees seem to be very im personable and there is no sense of atmosphere whatsoever. Lots of room for improvement and definitely getting more difficult with time to continue spending my money at such a poor run business. read more

River Maiden is likely the best coffee Vancouver has to offer. Not only do they serve Stumptown coffee, but they make excellent lattes as well. Maybe they would be five-stars based on this alone, but the icing on the cake proves to be the ham and cheese croissants they have piled up inside a small, glass case to the side of the register. They look like typical ham and cheese croissants do, but have them warm one up and they transform into these amazing breakfast treats. Completely delicious and the best way to start work at days I'm at the building around the corner. No punch card or reward system, but for what it's worth, I've found a friend in River Maiden and I plan on being a regular there. read more

Excellent espresso shot. Crema filled the cup through to the last drop, and the smoothness really helped break up my drive. Also their cappuccino was well executed with sweetness and beautiful care. The ambiance was traditional and clean with framed coffee bags on the wall. I Can't wait to try the nitro tapped cold brew on our next visit. Other than the cure decor, there is no menu, no pricing other than on the pastries. They only have one flavor of sugar-free syrup which is disappointing. If you simply want really really good coffee, lattes, espressos, etc. dont be scared off by the appearance! Yes, the location and storefront may seem a little meh, and maybe off-putting, and the inside isn't exactly the coziest, or portland-esque. They are open pretty late for a coffee shop, especially around here. And it IS a great place to go if you want a good cup of coffee while being able to sit indoors. Also, the beans they used when I went were great. They carry different kinds, and I wish I knew which one it was, but I dont. All I know is it is hard to find a great quality espresso (not burnt, pulled correctly) around here(Plus some fancy Foam Art), and I think I found it. Only thing is, when we went so late, the sun was set. There was barely any lighting in the first room, and weird harsh lighting in the side room. Maybe better lighting, some comfy chairs, and I know far-fetched, but a fireplace would be dreamy! Try this place out! And maybe one day they can move into a perfect location, and I will probably move in :) read more

My first visit was on Tuesday, 2/2/21. Friendly customer service, delicious coffee and avocado toast, and a table outside for a seating option currently. Pricing is a little high and I don't like that they charge extra for vegan milk or flavoring. I do like that they have vegan options and hopefully they'll only be adding more in the future. I hate to have to offer a slightly dissenting review, but I wasn't terribly impressed. Other reviewers have raved about the Stumptown coffee, but to me it was slightly bitter; it's probably an acquired taste, and I don't think I'll be in Washington state long enough to acquire it. In addition to not being crazy about the coffee, and not being to find anything I wanted to eat amongst the small assortment of pastries, I found the ambiance a little uninviting. Scanning the reviews, I see that the space used to be a driving school or some such thing, and it still feels a bit like one. Perhaps they're still working on making this a cozier place to hang out, which I hope they do because there's a lot of potential here. The staff were very welcoming and affable, so I feel a little guilty not being able to give RMA 4*, but it's simply not there yet. read more

Never expected to have breakfast in the forest but found myself driving through the most beautiful grove of trees and then you pop out and there's the River Maiden. I went there just so I could get a cool looking latte and I was not disappointed also the avocado toast was a delicious way to start my day. The best cafe for excellent coffee in Vancouver. I've been coming here for over a decade. Each day I am here it is the best part of my day.

The matcha is fantastic, I don't drink coffee much so I am picky about the tea. Last time I was in a really friendly girl named Sunny took my order, all the staff here is really great. They also have quirky and fun stuff like death star cookies. Lots of tongue-in-cheek items and tee shirts. If you like your coffee shop fun but not annoying, River Maiden is a great stop. read more
