Located on the River with large outdoor seating area. Varied menu weighted toward fish. I had the crab stuffed flounder with hollandaise sauce, excellent. Cooked well, not dry and no skin. The sauce was flavorful and light and the crab chopped well with several spices. No flavor masked the other, perfect balance. Multiple sides available, I had hush puppies, large and good, along with cucumber / tomato salad. Neither the cucumber nor the tomato were completely ripe. Prices for most entrees were $25. My partner also had the cobb salad, all good there. Ambiance was good with large tables, nice outdoor seating on the decks and plenty of good views of the river. Service was good. Great location and if you dine outside you can overlook the water. Server was very friendly and helpful, and the outside seating is great. We ordered the Fish Reuben and the Fish tacos and split each. Fish Reuben was good, it was a lot of bread and almost too much for one person. The tacos were VERY good! I would order these again! We spent our last night in Ormond Beach having dinner at the River Grille and we were really glad we did! My husband was looking for a restaurant that served a Low Country Boil, and the restaurant did it right! I had a seafood combo with Cajun seasoning that was delicious! The server was fantastic and the view of the river is beautiful as the sun starts going down. The restaurant is family friendly and there is opportunity to feed the catfish off of the pier. I highly recommend the Piña Mojito if you're into mojitos. It was delicious! read more

What happened to the River Grill? We ate there tonight, ordered our favorite, smoked fish dip, there was no flavor to the dip and instead of crackers this now served with spicy chips! I had spicy lips so tasty my dinner was spicy! Then for dinner I ordered a fish po-boy. It again was spicy it again was hard to taste! Why are chefs spicing up meals, it does cover the taste!!!! On 6/7/25 I was married and had a wedding reception during the afternoon hours! I want to thank the Manager, Hunter and his staff, Kiley and Ariana for treating us and our guests with both superb service and an excellent menu! Each guest chose their favorite meal and all 28 guests were extremely happy with their choices! Not one complaint. 2 guests asked for the vegetable to be changed. I am also glad to report that they were completely happy with the exchange! I wanted simple and easy and The River Grille on the Tomoka should made that possible and not be missed! Wish there was a Zero Option in rating. I am a customer of River Grille Restaurant located on the Tomoka River in Ormond Beach . My experience was racially disturbing. Rude male white customer complained about me talking to my husband . The male was very rude, and said I was loud and could not hear his wife. They were both eating and his wife was not talking to him at all. The male customer was upset because my husband and I were conversing in Spanish and a little in English. I offered different options to ease his annoyance... and he refused and was very rude, belligerent and insulting. The bartender "Janea O" was very quick to defend the white male and accuse me of being profane because I was speaking in Spanish. The bar was outdoors and there was only three customers including myself who was visiting alone. I felt accused, singled out, shamed, and discriminated for communicating in a culturally diverse language which the bartender found offensive and the client found loud to his liking . I spoke with the manager "Noah" whom did not offer any resolution , or apologies and just listened . I felt displaced and singled out for communicating in my cultural distinct language. The white male and his wife continued comfortably while smirking at me while the manager and I spoke. I am appalled, dissatisfied, disappointed, disgusted and humiliated that this type of treatment was allowed by the manager Noah and bartender Janea O simply because a male white customer complained . The bartender Janea was quick to take their side without just cause simply because she found my culturally diverse language offensive to their atmospheric environment. I plan to file for a formal complaint, email the owners, and consult an attorney in regards . I formally request that a superior, owner above manager "Noah" contacts me in regards the matter . I plan to voice my experience with this discriminatory treatment via a formal complaint, via every type of reviews, and social platforms available so that no one else experiences it and is publicly shamed like I was tonight for speaking in their native language. As we drive in this road often my daughter and I always say "we have to try that place". We finally did and it was great. It is set on the water almost like a canal that leads out to a larger body of water. You get to see the boats come in under the bridge. I just loved it. We sat outside, with my new granddaughter, in one of the tables that sit overlooking the water. Our waiter was very nice and accommodating checking on us often. Disappointed Arrived in the Daytona area Sunday and spotted this place on the river with outdoor dinning. We had to try. Well we stopped on Monday afternoon about 1:30 for lunch. The deck was a 20-30 min wait so we elected to sit inside. (Was disappointed especially since we could see an open table with all others full). Ordered some gator bites for an app. My wife got a chicken Caesar and I shrimp tacos. The gator bites were ok. Dipping sauce was good. Tacos is a go to for me and I would rate these as average. (Note I eat out several times per week, so I know what is out there). The salad was also fair. Had to ask for additional dressing as it was on the dry side. Not many options for none seafood lovers. I'd give the food a C grade. The waitress was friendly but not overly attentive as she disappeared a few times for a while. With all the options in the area, I would pick something else. read more

Ok, I'm hungry again. So. we were looking for a different place and found this instead. Eden was our server, he is accompanidating and friendly. Our onion strings had such great flavor to them, so we were expecting great things from our food. Being from the Miami area flavor is abundant and vibrant. So, with that the vegetables are bland, beans and rice bland, the ribs are tender and blah. My partner barbecues a great deal for ourselves and others. And, his ribs burst with flavor. So, I'm prejudice from that expect. However, we have been to other restaurants which their food has flavor and makes me want to keep eating. Here, I will be boxing my food to go. The keylime pie is great. The decor is nice and the bar area nice as well. Great design. Time to move on to my next destination. Because, I will be hungry. read more

After we visited River Grille for Easter and did not enjoy our meal, the General Manager contacted me personally to apologize and asked that we give the restaurant another try. We decided to have lunch in the restaurant because I have enjoyed River Grille in the past and wasn't ready to give it up! Happy to report our lunch was excellent. My husband and I ordered the grilled basket with shrimp, fish, French fries, cole slaw, and hushpuppies, and we were very pleased with our meal. Service was very good, and our server checked on us several times to make sure that we had what we needed. I'm glad we gave this little gem of a restaurant another try because the setting both inside and out is lovely. Give it a try! read more

Easter on the river. Very disappointing! Advertised drink special was unavailable a few hours after the restaurant opened. Seated quickly but service was slow. My family and I were visiting some family in the area and they insisted on taking us to River Grille for dinner. We came in on a Sunday evening, and had a little bit of a wait, but nothing crazy, especially considering we had 9 in the party. The restaurant itself is spacious and has a nice ambiance through out. Once seated our waiter came over took our drink order and answered the few questions we had about the menu! A few things that we ordered that stuck out, the hush puppies, calamari, shrimp po boy and the seafood platter. All fresh and tasty! If you're in the area be sure to stop in and check them out! Visited here for the first time with my family who had been many times and really enjoyed it. I got the spicy Cobb salad with Cajun ranch dressing. I am always so hesitant to order salads because I don't like paying $15-$20 for a bowl of lettuce. This was worth the money! The salad had plenty with it and it all tasted really good. I added blackened shrimp. The shrimp was cooked well and the seasoning on the shrimp and in the ranch was perfect! We sat outside on the deck which was great for my four year old. She could walk over and look at the water and not be held to sitting in a seat. The waiter was very friendly. The reason for the four stars was because I tasted my husbands jambalaya and although it was spicy, it didn't have that Cajun New Orleans flavor. It was a little bland. I've been here twice now, and I really like the casual, laid back feel and rustic look. The peel and eat shrimp were great, as were the gator bites. The crab dip was excellent too. Service was prompt and courteous. We were a little disappointed that there was no Sunday brunch menu, but our choices such as the grouper sandwich were delish. Not one to complain, but..... Our overall experience was disappointing. Apps were slow to come to the table (Calamari was room temp). Entree timing was good but again, room temp (Mahi was not hot and very dry, undesirable. Bread from chicken sandwich was hard, dry, stale). Ordered a second glass of wine - waited at least 10 minutes before asking a staffer for assistance - our server showed up shortly after, not realizing the order had previously been placed. Mentioned concerns on service and food quality to server. She returned with the check and an apology. No manager acknowledgement. We asked for the manager, who showed up but no genuine engagement / acknowledgement. She did apologize. We were not asking for any compensatory response. The check was re-dropped with a 25% discount which is appreciated but there was no sense of ownership nor that things would be addressed/fixed. To make matters worse, upon entering the restroom, the space was dirty, and the waste receptacles were overflowing with dirty paper towels. Disappointing. read more

Awesome restaurant located right on the river. Ambiance was fun and inviting. Staff was all very young but on point and professional. The food was amazing. I ordered grilled Mahi with a side of grits and onion straws. My boyfriend ordered the gouda mac and cheese with chicken. I was pleasantly surprised with the wait time on our food and when i saw the dishes i was equally as impressed. Both dishes tasted great. Love this place. A must stop for dinner or snack any time I'm near Tomoka State Park or Ormond. Best Gator tail anywhere, according to child #3. And I like the beer selection. Wife loves the view. An expansive selection. And they do just fine with the non-fried options. Half-orders, sammies, and tacos are all good if you don't want a huge meal. After a few months of too many seafood restaurants in asphalt strip malls, it's always a great change of pace to dine waterfront. read more

Just stopped by for a beer and appetizer. Ordered Yuengling on tap. Beer was cold. Ordered their "Gator-Bites" for an app. When they came out I was totally disappointed by the presentation. A small serving of pop corn shrimp looking things. Upon tasting them they were bland and tasteless. The dip was ok but I still couldn't get over the bites being so bland. It seems as if they coated them in a chicken type breading and fried them in the deep fryer that the oil needs to be changed. I'm sure they have other good apps but steer clear of the bites. We had a reservation for 9 at 1pm on Thanksgiving. We arrived early and enjoyed drinks on the back deck. We were seated exactly at 1 and our server was very attentive and courteous. We all chose our own Thanksgiving meal and it was all delicious. We had plenty of vegetables as well as turkey, fish, etc. I cannot say enough about our experience there and we will definitely return to the River Grille. read more
