This is a great restaurant for live music and summer days. It's also good for seafood. But definitely not a good choice for vegetarians. I'm a really easy going vegetarian and I can always find something to eat everywhere at every restaurant I go to. I found spinach bread at the River Grill and corn on the cob. We also shared fried pickles. Ordinarily I would be perfectly happy with that. Except I can't in good conscience recommend that spinach bread. It had lumps of defrosted spinach covered with cheese and it was very oily. The corn was good. They were big cobs of fresh corn cooked well. The server was very nice. And it was a beautiful summer day with live music and lots of happy people eating and enjoying the day.

First time here. Enjoyed the food so much that I forgot to take food pics! I beg for forgiveness on the waterlogged menu pics, too. They're still legible! The lake was choppy on Sunday with all the wind, but the patio was protected, and we could enjoy a bit of live music as we talked & ate. I enjoyed a Leinenkugel Summer Shandy, 3 shrimp tacos, and shared the fried pickle chips appetizer. Tyler was a pleasant server & because he brought the specials menu, my mom enjoyed a shrimp & roasted corn chowder for her meal. She was thrilled!

Deep fried pickles! I liked this appetizer!

Very chill, happy tropical vibe. Feels like you're on vacation in Florida! Live music, most days, check out their website. if you enjoy seafood, you came to the right place. I ordered seafood paella. It was really delicious. I was impressed. Loaded with shellfish. My girlfriend who is vegetarian Enjoyed the spinach bread, corn on the cob broccoli with cheese. There are salads on the menu as well. Our waitress Kathleen was very sweet and funny. She had us laughing! I don't know what took me so long to come back to the River Grill. Now that I'm reacquainted with an old friend, I'll be back for sure!

Really love the Riverside atmosphere. Service was excellent. My only disappointment was the soup. 12 dollars for manhattan seafood chowder which had one scalloped and two shrimp. Very water soup. That being said my hubby had shrimp gumbo which was fantastic and both of our dinners the grouper and the surf and turf were delicious and I thought the prices were very reasonable for the amount of food we ate. Would definitely want to come bag and try the BIG DADDY!

Seated around 1245... No waitress came even to take drink orders until we asked for one 15 mins later. Danielle switched our table to her in the system so she could take care of us, which was very nice. Yucatán Shrimp Tacos (3) 8/10 They also come with some type of sauce on them (not listed on the menu), I couldn't tell what exactly it was though. It was not spicy. I think they needed more flavor, they were kinda plain and bland. I do like that the shrimp was shopped up into smaller pieces though. Coleslaw 9/10 Sweet, I like it. Mom didn't. French fries 8/10 Little soggy, and mine were in a big clump, but overall decent fries. Steamed Little Neck Clams in a garlic butter broth 8/10 Definitely needed some seasoning, or salt in general. Wasn't expecting the broth to be just plain butter either. Not bad, but not what we were expecting. Wish the bread was garlic bread or even just a little toasted rather than just plain.

River Grill's a legit cute summer spot to grab a drink and a bite, with some (somewhat occluded) views of the Niagara River and a nice breeze. And although it's all a little on the pricey side (I suppose the Buffalo equivalent of location pricing, but it's not like you're on a Mediterranean beach here), seafood is fried and seasoned competently and we did get our order pretty quickly. The dude playing music was good and added to the atmosphere. The outdoor patio is nicely shaded. So why two stars? Well, the drink menu is unimaginative despite the craft cocktail movement having taken root in Buffalo. I'd let that slide, as you're in Tonawanda, were the drinks themselves not generally awful. Like, someone really has to retrain on how to make a mojito, as a good deal of booze was its only redeeming quality. It was basically an eight-dollar well rum and club soda with a mint leaf tossed in as an afterthought. The pineapple burst was also sickly sweet, but I shoulda just skipped that one based on the ingredients, so that's on me. There was still enough to like to give three stars had we not waited twenty minutes for our check after finishing and another twenty to get my card back after the server picked it up. There was a party of fourteen that may have been holding things up, but if you can't handle a party of fourteen without it wrecking the place, then you need to retrain your whole staff or at least tell your manager to get out there and help with some things. Misc: There's off-street parking. The menu seems designed in a world in which vegetarians and vegans do not exist or are not invited.

River Grill is close to work. I met up with a friend after work, we were there close to 5pm and there were already a lot of people. After we finished a little passed 6 pm, there were a lot of people and we were told we need to vacate the table. It's Friday night, business is good, we understand. We had the steam clams for appetizer. Tasted fine, but clams were big shells with small meat. The dinner, we both ordered the baked grouper with blue cheese with sweet potato, the sides were mac salad and cole slaw. Very tasty. When we ordered, we were asked if we were going to share one dinner, so we weren't sure how big the dish was. It is normal size. If we shared, I don't think it would be enough. It is a nice summer night place by the water. There were live guitar singer playing.

Swordfish w/sweet potato

Went by to celebrate yet another wedding anniversary and taste their swordfish which I eat on a regular basis in Spain but never in the States. It was abt a half-inch thick which is typical, but being grilled here, did not have that great taste when cooked in Andalucia since no olive oil nor garlic was used. It still was edible though, and my lovely wife enjoyed her fish fry. The sweet potato came wrapped in aluminumfoil and was very tender and sweet. Though the place was crowded, we amazingly got in and seated quickly! Thwre was a single guitarist providing live music, then quickly replaced by a complete band that really got everyone dancing and clapping.

Where can I find a complete menu? Shows pictures of ribs, burgers but don't see on menu

Had a delicious salmon months ago, and a swordfish dinner months later. These items didn't reappear on the menu when we were there most recently. I believe it's just a matter of supply and demand. Hope this helps!

Stumbled upon here as I was searching for hidden gems. It's a shame more people don't know about this kitchen. Came in on a Saturday night around 7pm. Ordered the Blackened shrimp po boy and the Szechuan Udon with shrimp which has noodles stir fried & tossed with veggies in a spicy Szechuan inspired sauce. Both were tasty. Seasoned beautifully. Had lovely colored and delivered with every bite. Honestly it was so good that two hours later I came back and ordered food for my family. They licked the plate clean. I got them the Creole Seafood Eggrolls and the southern fried shrimp po boy. There's a few seats outside the restaurant but most people take it to go it looks like. Tell your friends. Tell your family. Slide thru. It won't disappoint. Plus it's Black owned. Bonus info! If you don't wanna order in person you can get it with grubhub, door dash, and other delivery platform

Are you ready for a journey combining cuisine from East and West that will tantalize your taste…read morebuds and make you want more? Than look no further than Far East Bayou! We were looking for cajun food and stumbled upon this hidden gem. When I say hidden, its hidden tucked inside an old industrial building (with zero street signage) that now houses a bunch of pop up culinary surprises. On the second floor tucked in the back corner you will find Far East Bayou. This casual take out restaurant, is a fusion of Southern New Orleans and Korean flavors. The chef was extremely friendly and ready to take us down his culinary journey down the bayou. I ordered a bunch of different dishes for my husband and I to sample: Shrimp Bo Poy - blackened, shrimp po boy- fried, crab hush puppies and honey cajun udon noodles. Everything was extremely flavorful! The sauces were out of this world. They had a nice spice on them. Not a spice that sets your mouth on fire, but spice that is flavorful and enhances everything else on the plate. The fried shrimp was super crispy and the cornmeal breading was perfectly seasoned. My only complaint is the preparation of the shrimp. The shrimp are prepared with their tails on, which made it difficult to eat. We had to dig through the sauces and toppings to find each shrimp and pull the tails off . I learned the owner makes his own kimchi, which is made using more spices and vegetables and less fish. He allowed me to sample some, and I will be dreaming about this kimchi tonight! I will definitely be coming back to try their rotating specials menu, and grab some more kimchi!

I ordered the Jamaican tea drink-so dressing and the Kingsley Street Fried Chicken dinner. The chicken was perfectly fried to perfection, the macaroni and cheese was cheesey, the yams were definitely what it means to be candied and the cornbread was warm with enough sweetness without being too sweet. Soul food has arrived to North Buffalo in a big way! Get the word out because I need them to stay!…read moreRestaurant is in the heart of North Buffalo, located on Hertel about two blocks from Parkside. Cute vibe inside. They do have a bar setup, but didn't appear it's used for alcohol. I was greeted as soon as I opened the door and was walking through. Being my first time, I did order a few didn't dishes, sides and desserts to try. There was NOT a bad dish. All the food was amazing. Great portions, tasty flavors and everything truly was cooked to perfection. I have given up talking about prices because let's be honest where can you go for cheap anymore. BUT I have to mention I got the Kinsley street fried chicken dinner, it comes with four prices chicken (half chicken, breast, leg, wing, and thigh) and two sides for 22.99, I felt this was actually a great price point and so worth it. Our next dish was the JP fish sandwhich and fries, again, the sandwhich was huge, the fish was seasoned and cooked to perfection! Fries were yummy. Next up was the TPs hot honey chicken sandwhich. Now I am over the hot honey chicken sandwhich as it's been done to death, but I still always feel the need to try eveyones hahaha, and glad I did another grand slam sandwhich! For the sides, I tried the Mac and cheese, pinto beans, collard greens and coleslaw. If you follow my reviews I am a Mac and cheese snob, don't think I order many that I liked, well thank you Heavens because the Mac and cheese was DELICIOUS!!! The Coleslaw was also top notch. I don't eat collard greens or pinto beans but my family told me they were good. They did not have desserts on the menu but I seen some on the counter, sooooo I order a slice of caramel cake, slice of sour cream cake and peach cobbler. Fat kid heaven they all were so good. Literally the best caramel cake since my mother in law! I felt like I just ate at my husband's family reunion. I had to go in and order, then I left ran to dash and came back in about 25 mins and my food was ready when I got back. So service was pretty fast. My only thing wish you could order on line first, parking is not the best in that area. Also Google has address as 1641 Hertel but it actually is 1633, not a big deal because same area but just a heads up.
