Chicken with pear baguette and fries

We went for lunch today knowing that we might be snowed if for a few days. The hostess was very nice and offered us two seats saying the one by the water would be colder. We sat there for the view and were immediately sorry we did that since the chill was definitely felt. A few tables had space heaters by them so they were better off. As soon as I saw a couple up by the fireplace getting up, we asked if we could change and that wa easily done. The French Onion Soup is wonderful. A nice and very deep broth with perfectly charred cheese made us nice and warm and the glass of sancerre helped also! I ordered the chicken sandwich but unfortunately the server misunderstood and brought out the chicken dish but I really wanted the sandwich because the combination of chicken, bacon and pear sounded wonderful so they quickly exchanged it and it was sooo good. I could only eat 1/2 after the soup so i am glad the other 1/2 will be dinner tonight. The atmosphere was so Parisian and looking out at the water while sitting by a nice fireplace made it even more enticing. The French sundae dessert is amazing- caramel and chocolate (and not from a jar I bet you) with pecans and vanilla ice cream with whipped cream is a large serving but my husband and I polished it off and ended the meal with some very good coffee brought in a small coffee pot so we could replenish without bothering anyone. I truly felt so good after our meal. Can't wait to return!

Although it was a chilly fall day, the outdoor seating was cozy and homey. The owner is so sweet and makes sure to make all patrons feel seen and appreciated. My French onion soup was amazing. The salad was also good. However, one of the olives was not pitted; the rest were pitted so I chomped down on the pit, ouch! I tasted some of the duck pate, which also came with gherkin pickles and mustard, so it tasted like an elevated Cuban sandwich. The crème brûlée has espresso in it and it was a tasty way to end the meal.

Both me and my guests have been going to Rive Bistro for years. Never had a dish i was disappointed with! Always served as described, perfected by their excellent kitchen staff! They also always have surprising specials to temp your taste! Service is always the best! Moreover, watching the swans, boats and rowers is an additional treat that adds to the wonderful ambiance!

C'est magnifique! A wonderful experience this second time around! Caroline is a top notch server. She made me and my friend feel right at home and never once rushed us. She made sure everything was to our liking. She was such a delight. Oh, mon Dieu! The chicken breast (which you see pictured) is very close to coq au vin (which my friend had) and was délicieux! Every ingredient and aspect of preparation was perfection. (The coq au vin, my friend assured, was equally délicieux.) The view along the Saugatuck River is always a lovely part of the experience.

Free ice cream/lemondade

She gave us free lemonade and free ice cream. Got the best service I could ever ask for. Got our food in less than 2 minutes. Perfect place right on the water. They allowed us to fish off the back of the restaurant.

Can't say enough of the quality of the food and the ambience but what was the icing on the cake was the service and attention we got from Vanessa and Nat. My Mom who was visiting from out of country enjoyed herself thoroughly thanks to the staff

If you're on the hunt for a traditional French bakery with authentic French and European pastries, desserts, and breads, you will happily walk out of here with a bag of wonderful goodies. When you walk in, you'll come across a tempting display case piled high with their baked goods. I saw platters of croissants of every description! Plain, Chocolate, Choc/Raspberry, Almond, Almond/Choc, Croissant Donuts and Croissant donut holes. But wait there's more! Brioches, chocolate Plies, Pinwheels, fruit turnovers, Cinnamon Rolls, Coffee Cakes, Danishes, Beignets, Scones, Fruit Tarts, Palmiers. The list goes on and on and I haven't even gotten to their cookies, macarons, baguettes, rolls, challah, cakes, quiches, and sandwiches. Seriously, you can have three meals a day here for a month and never duplicate anything. When I walked in, the dining room was pretty busy with customers enjoying a late lunch. The ordering line for baked goods was around five deep, which gave me plenty of time to check out the goods. I ended up with a nice assortment of a chocolate croissant, a chocolate Plie, a fruit turnover, donuts, and a fruit pie. We had some of the goodies last night and a bit more for breakfast today. The chocolate plié was amazing, and honestly, everything we've tried so far has been great. Easy FIVE STARS, n'est-ce pas?

A bit confusing where to park since it was dark and we had no idea where we were. But then saw valet sign so that was nice. My mother-in-law & I split the Cesar salad (they actually split for us!) love that it had real anchovies and crispy lettuce. We also split the Shrimp & Polenta. Nice large shrimp & creamy polenta. Our friend had lobster & pasta dish which was delish. I had the Gimlet, which was super tasty & she had a lemon drop martini and our friend had a nice margarita. Service was great, we enjoyed everything!

We had a great table by the window. The waitperson was gracious. Our group met to discuss an important matter so we were a bit slow ordering. Our food was fantastic. The Albarino we ordered was delicious too. The only downside I can think to mention is the musical journey beginning in the 80s! And we were still able to have our serious conversation. The atmosphere felt very grown and polished without being overly formal...the kind of place that's lively and stylish but still comfortable enough to relax and hang out. I was surprised by the Spanish stuffed peppers; It was better than I expected, filled with rich, slow-braised oxtail short rib ragu that was incredibly tender, savory, and full of deep flavor. The slight smoky sweetness from the peppers balanced the hearty meat perfectly. Such a unique memorable tapa. Perfect spot for drinks, sharing plates, and a fun night out.

Barcelona was good, it has the potential to be great!…read more I've dined here a few times and every time the service is fantastic. The severs are attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The general manager came around to introduce themselves and personally ask how the meal is and if they can be of any service which is always a very nice touch. The ambiance has a moody wine bar feel to the front half of the space and the main dining rooms are located in the back. Very nice and inviting. However the dining rooms are pretty packed with tables so it tends to get very loud. The food is good but often times inconsistent. For example the lamb chop I have had in the past was delicious, and during this visit it was lacking flavor. The meatballs were not my favorite in a previous visit but this most recent time they were absolutely delicious. Also pictured is the chicken thigh, and pork belly. The chicken thigh was plain but I think that's the point, it was cooked great. The pork belly was very yummy, I loved the lime/cilantro sauce it came with. We also ordered the half size parrillada done medium well. Aspects of this dish were good like the steak, others like the chicken and the chorizo were juicy and soo delicious. The pork chop lacked flavor and was very tough. The leeks were very tasty and the croquettes are always good! I am sure I will be back to Barcelona soon. I'm excited to explore their large selection of charcuteries!

The waiter was exemplary with a party that had 1 diner a strict vegan ( including honey), 1 that only wanted American cuisine and another that did not want anything more than " mildly spiced"!! Josh, our fabulous waiter was so informative, patient & actually offered to mark 1 menu with all the vegan options. Oh, did I mention another diner has numerous allergies including coconut, pineapple, beef, chicken, and egg!! All of us enjoyed our time together ( family from 3 different states) and the experience of sharing smaller dishes when possible. The 1/2 price special on bottles of wine was an added delight. Dessert including often not seen was Olive oil cake was light, fluffy and moist. My cheese cake satisfied my sweet tooth. What was also amazing is this restaurant was recommended by a 99 year old gentleman at the Jewish home while visiting my mom. Barcelona is certainly a restaurant that is maintaining its reputation for wonderful dining!

We were at the bar during closing time when a man approached one of our friends and told him he was going to slap him in the face (odd behavior from a grown man), and like any other person, our friend replied with "I dare you to, it will not be a good choice for you". They continued at this for a solid 3 minutes before security got involved and became aggressive towards our group more than the man who started it. When the bartender Samar saw what was going on (she witnessed the event), she tried to tell security and the owner that it was not us, but instead the other man. We were all kicked out, and one would think it would end there, but it did not. We were met with racist remarks and aggression from the security guard and the owner, who condoned it. When we were being kicked out the secuirty guard was shoving my husband, and once I saw that I clealry lost it and I was met with a sentence I never thought I'd ever hear "this is America, learn english", which is funny considering 1) I speak perfect english, 2) I have 0 accent, and 3) my spanish is actually horrendous. The owner was there when all of this was happening and did not get involved or tell his employee that it was not ok; instead, he watched and let it be. In this day and age, I find this be inappropriate and insane. We spent over $300 within 2 hours and will no longer be coming here, considering we were met with racism. We as consumers need to know where our money is going, and this establishment made it very clear where they stand. I only say this because, on our way to our car, we were approached by others who had experienced the same situation earlier that night. As a bar that relies on its consumers and is supported by minorities, this establishment should be ashamed.
