Hidden gem!! My husband and I were going to stop at a different restaurant while passing through Murrieta on a road trip, but our baby fell asleep and we didn't want to wake her. Seeing that Rival has a drive through option we decided to opt for this and WOW I'm so glad we did! The drive through was convenient, and the food and drinks were incredible! I got the honey vanilla latte with oat milk and the bacon breakfast burrito and my husband got the Maple Brown Sugar latte and the BLT. Both of our meals came loaded with high-quality bacon and were heart and tasty, and the lattes we got were well-made and delicious! Tried this Place for the first time after working all night... I ordered a Matcha Latte.... I mispronounced Matcha , and the Barista (or whatever they are called at this place?) acted like he couldn't hear me / understand what I was saying . Then when I caught myself, he looked at me like I was an idiot. I don't know if it's the generation or just this guy , but the customer service was terrible. The Matcha was mediocre at best. Great option for coffee and full of choices. I had been going to this coffee shop for a while but one last trip was enough to make me not want to go back. I went through the drive through with my family and got coffees for everyone the lady on the intercom seemed very nice. They asked for my name and gave it..."Carlos" when I pulled up a gentleman greeted me and asked "Jose?" No I said. Confused because there was literally no one else in the drive thru. He repeated my order and I said yes that's my order but my name's is not Jose. He then told me that the person that took my order wrote down Jose. Carlos e sounds nothing like Jose. Rival Coffee Co. is one of the best establishments in the Murrieta/Temecula area. Their food is cooked fresh but fast and the coffee is phenomenal. My overall experience while dining in was great. The entire staff was polite and friendly. Definitely made me feel welcomed and a part of their family. 10/10 to whoever has the aux because the music is fire. Rival Coffee Co. is a great place to hang out with friends, eat food with family or a good place to sit and work while enjoying some great coffee. I have been wanting to check out this place for a while, as the menu was quite intriguing. So imagine my dismay when I walk in... I can't describe my 1st impression, but it felt as if the place was not yet complete. I almost turned around, as I thought it was closed. There was no visible menu displayed, the pastry display counter was completely empty and what looked to be a bar area was completely empty too. After realizing it was indeed open, I made my way over to the counter. There I found paper menus . So I proceed with placing my order and then decide to venture out to see what this place was about. It's a really large venue with so much potential, but it's clear they still need some work to complete the overall aesthetics. First of all..dirty trash cans should never be displayed in the dining area. And I'm not referring to it being filled with trash...I mean physically dirty on the exterior. Regrettably at this point, there was no turning back, I had already placed my order. I figured I would just give my food/drink an extra good prayer and hope for the best. Once my order was ready, I get called over to the pick up counter. Since my order was "to go", I presumed it would be bagged. Especially since there was no way I could carry all of it out without one. Unfortunately it was not and requesting one felt like a chore. The guy whom I asked seemed irritated that I was "interrupting" him from his conversation with a colleague. I honestly thought he was going to ignore me (as she had). If not for the lovely young lady who took my order, this review would be just one star. It's really sad that this fairly new establishment is already epically failing. I've come here a few times and every time I come it's completely different. First time it was sit down with a server with gorgeous food and amazing mimosas and mixed drinks. The next time I came in it was totally different food but still had great drinks and we had to go up and order everything ourselves. Now I just came and there's now no alcohol or mimosas or anything and the menus limited again. I just feel like they need to figure out what works for them and stick with it because it's annoying when I bring people here for brunch or a new place because I came and loved it and it's always different. read more

I ordered the Italian Avocado Toast and a vanilla latte from here. I appreciated the service as the workers worked efficiently and were helpful in choosing food and drink items. The vanilla latte was great and not too sweet. I specifically requested only a single shot as I am pretty sensitive to caffeine, and they were happy to oblige with my request. The Italian avocado toast was decently priced for its size and the portion was just enough to satisfy me. The only reservation I had about the toast was that I found the sauce to be a little overbearing, as it masked the flavors of the other ingredients. Been going through the drive through versus going inside lately, with a toddler and being pregnant it's just easier. Only complaint is that they hand you their germy credit card machine. It is so good and filling. Had it with the fried egg and I was in avocado toast heaven. My husband had the sausage burrito which was a very good sized burrito and was also delicious. The strawberry donut... you guys, the donut itself was so fluffy and soft. I hadn't even gotten to a filling and I was already happy. The donut was not oily at all. It was light and when you do get to the filling, you don't regret the calories. My husband does not like filling donuts and he enjoyed this one. As for drinks, my husband had the creme brulee latte with oatmilk and I had the matcha latte with lavender vanilla. My issue is the customer service being very lackluster, not a welcoming environment. Also the music videos they play on the giant screens by the front door were gross, period. Music videos by Lizzo and who knows what else that passes as music, the songs played in the restaurant too is loud and annoying. Due to the graphicness of the music videos and some of the songs played I don't want to come back in with my kids honestly. It didn't use to be this way but it's gone downhill. Place only is popular due to the high school next door where they seem to get business but overall experience I would drive by happily not spending money here. I wanted to love this place, but don't. The food is always delicious and recipes are unique! Freshly made to order. Coffee is also spot on! Unfortunately they missed the mark with decor. They tried so hard to be "in" with culture it came out a flop. The ambience is painfully "trendy" aggressive and I feel anxiety sitting inside. The music? Think early 2000's pop. Customer service is lacking as well. There's a few good baristas. But mostly young high schoolers and the elevator doesn't quite go to the top floor if you know what I mean.
