My expectations lately have been fairly low with new places, but this place blew me away. First impression was the girl who took our order behind the counter. as a first timer, it was not welcoming. i even let the girl know who was at the register that i was a first timer and had questions, she didn't seem to care and more like i was a bother. i mentioned i liked more of a sweet coffee, my coffee was not sweet. i couldn't even finish drinking it. i ended up throwing it away and going to starbucks even though i was hoping to stay away from big cooperation coffee shops and support local. food was ehh. overall disappointed and will not be back. read more

Why?!? It pains me to have to rate it so low. I heard about this place and was very optimistic to try it. Customer service here is not great. The workers didn't greet us upon entering and the person taking our order was rude from the jump. I understand some people have bad days but it just rubbed me the wrong way. I ordered a 24oz brown sugar maple coffee drink with oat milk. It was just bland. All it tasted like to me was plain black coffee mixed with a little bit of milk? Where is the brown sugar? I didn't feel comfortable bringing it back up to have them remake it because they all had attitudes. Their breakfast sandwich with the egg and arugula was soooo plain. I dont know how because there was so much going on but to me it tasted like butter and eggs. The donuts here are super sweet and custard filled. It was just ok. The French fries were crunchy and my son enjoyed them. The orange juice was ok. I'm just not sure I understand the hype? I'm disappointed. Maybe I'll give it another try soon... read more

The rival breakfast sandwich is fantastic. I recommend trying it if you eat here. The service at the Murrieta location, however, is horrible. From management down, don't expect an inviting atmosphere from employees. Drive thru lines if you come at a time they're busy, will take forever. My brother and I wanted to get coffee after our gym sesh and stopped by Rival coffee. It was my first time here and the ambiance was really nice. They kept it nice and clean. There were a lot of places to sit for people to either come and have lunch or even just to come and study or hang out. Plenty of outlets to plug in your laptops or phones. They offer a great selection of both coffee and food on their menu which I really liked. They also have different milk alternatives which is a plus for me since I usually like to get almond or coconut milk. Ava was the barista who helped us at the register. She was nice and was able to answer any questions that came up. I got a lavender and vanilla latte with almond milk which tasted wonderful! And they didn't seem too busy so our drinks came out with in 3-5 min. They offered us free stickers at the register which I think is a great way to promote their business. True to its name, Rival Coffee is now taking on the giant coffee shop next door, with a higher-end ambience, coupled by their upcoming Bar, possibly with restaurant - a very unique concept I have never seen before! Best SANDWICH is the STEAK SANDWICH and TUNA MELT you gotta try! Order at the counter, staff will ask whether you want to add avocado in your s'wich sliced or mashed. You then find your seat, wait for counter staff to call your name indicating your order's ready to pick up. DRIVE-THRU is also available when you're in a hurry, or outdoor patio if you enjoy al-fresca dining. Average ticket per person is $17 to $20, gratuity included. We'll definitely be back for the steak and tuna melt sandwiches, try other items available next time. read more

This spot is a gem!!! Cool modern vibe. They serve AMAZING food. I've been here twice now and have tried the following dishes: BLT, the favorite flatbread, carnitas avo stack, hot white mocha, iced vanilla bean latte. The avo stack was by far the best thing that I've eaten in I-don't-even-know-how-long. I was blown away. I left craving it again, wondering when I could come back. I like that they put designs in their latte foam--a sign of an experienced barista. Also, the staff is super cool, polite, friendly, fast, accurate--all the things you want in staff. The place is super clean, even the outdoor seating. Someone would come every once and a while and clean all the outside tables and chairs even if no one has been in them. The prices are fair. Cost $20 for a meal with a latte and tip. They have a drive thru which is nice. Now for the cons. I had to take away a star cuz of a few small things, which they can easily fix. First, they dont have any high chairs so I was having to chase 2 toddlers around (granted I understand they're not catering to families). Also, there's no changing table in the bathrooms so that really sucked (it was too cold to change the little guy outside in the back of the SUV so he ended up soaking thru his diaper by the time we got home). Also, they should have a menu displayed at the counter instead of just on paper. And lastly, one of the times I was there it was at night and their festoon lights were off. Not a huge deal at all but it would've been nice to have that out there. read more

This place is a hidden gem in Murrieta. First off, the vibe is awesome. New and clean. The place was busy on a rainy Thursday but there were many places to choose to sit. I ordered cappuccino with oat milk. Oat milk ran me an extra dollar. It was very surprising how expensive milk substitution is. Very often even the Bay area coffee shops charge only $0.50 to $0.70 extra. My cappuccino was just okay. Oat milk was foamed very heavily, with approximately 1/3 of the drink being foam. It tasted a bit sour for whatever reason. Not sure what brand they're using, but I've had better ones. The overall atmosphere is quite good. They are open inside during the pandemic, the outdoor area is also available. Overall, I might give a shot having another, different drink there, but it certainly would not be my first choice. read more

The coffee is good. it's about the same a dunkin' donuts coffee. Go there, enjoy the vibes, and work. What a hidden treasure and serendipitous find! I'm staying at the neighboring Holiday Inn Express and this is the only eatery/ cafe within a nice walking distance. In between Zoom meetings, I got to try their iced Rose Cardamom latte with oat milk, which was just the right amount of sweetness and had a lovely floral taste to it. I also ate their Stacked Avo - Carnitas, which was half an avocado with a fried egg, chipotle crema, cilantro and cheese sauce, and... HALLELOO. It was so good. A nice, filling, savory, low-carb meal (or snack, depending on your hunger). On top of the great food and great coffee, the staff is also amiable and extremely helpful. Decided to try a local coffee shop after reading the reviews since I was in the area. I ordered the avocado toast with fried egg - definitely not what I expected. The toast was more like soft bread with a TON of avocado on it (and I love avocado, but it was so much that it was wasteful), and the fried egg was solid hard. The avo toast lacked seasoning and flavor compared to what I'm used to. Apart from the food, it's really the poor service that makes me not want to return. Sophia took my order and had all the attitude that a customer does not want to receive. She had her headset on, and when I asked questions, she seemed annoyed to have to remove her headset to hear me and respond to me. I regretted going after my interaction with her before even receiving the food. On the bright side, the gentleman who made my drink was customer-service oriented and had a good attitude. I docked a point because unfortunately the music is too loud.
