This nail salon is a whole big fat lie all the people that work there are so mean. This lady proceeded to tell me my natural nails were way to dirty for her!. I am never going here again

We arrived and my friend was trying to hold it together, and started crying. Carol and Tiffany immediately asked what was wrong, and she shared that she was processing her grief. Both ladies held space for her, comforted her, and shared stories of their personal loss as well. What was supposed to be a casual pedicure ended up being a beautiful therapy session, as they painted our toes, they also offered comfort, support, and genuine love. I am so grateful for this experience. They not only did a wonderful pedicure, but they were genuinely so kind and sweet. They even offered my friend some tea and biscuits at the end. This type of service went above and beyond and I cannot thank these ladies enough for bringing such comfort to me and my friend during this difficult time. I do not recommend getting a Gel-X mani here. First, the recommendation I was given didn't make sense. My natural nails had grown out pretty long, so I asked for hard gel. Multiple staff members recommended Gel-X extensions instead for the design I wanted. My natural nails were only slightly shorter than my reference image, but I wanted to trust their expertise. I was wrong. I chose the shorter extension length and it ended up being the same length of my natural nail before the tech cut them, so the extensions added nothing and I unnecessarily had my nails cut. Second, the application quality doesn't match the price. There are ill-fitting corners throughout. Rather than sizing up to an extension that fit my nail bed, the tech filed down my side walls to force the smaller one to fit, which hurt. One extension on my index finger is visibly crooked. I pointed it out and was told it looked straight - looking at it again and in photos, it's clearly off-center. There's also still cured gel on my skin, which is a contact dermatitis risk. Third, the pricing was not transparent. I paid $115 for a Gel-X removal and Gel-X manicure. The pricing on the website and at check-in is confusing, and when I showed my inspiration photo up front, no one quoted me. The tech told me the price, $155, only after she had already started the design. I got it down to $115 by dropping the star flakes, which were $40 on their own. I want to pay techs fairly for their work, but $40 for star flakes isn't worth it. To be fair, there were genuine positives. I called to let them know I was running 10 minutes late and the staff were completely understanding about it. And when I asked for a swirl cat eye design, my tech told me upfront that it was above her skill level rather than overpromising. She still gave it a shot, and I really appreciated that honesty. Overall, I can't recommend this place. The quality of work and service don't match the price, and what frustrates me more is that the staff didn't listen to my questions and were quick to shut me down instead of working with me. Given the reviews here, I'll assume this isn't the standard, and that it's fixable.

I have always had a great experience here. I've been many times with friends and alone for pedicures. It is efficient, clean, and they are always friendly. You can usually find a walk in appointment and lots of parking. I love that they have a cruelty free polish option! I wish all nail salons offered that. Their pedis start at Pedicure near me35 for plain pedi/no spa treatments and then go up to the Pedicure near me55+ for their super super ones. They offer gel or regular nails and I've seen their design work (like fancy colors, drawings, etc), which look very professional. You need to bring your own nail kit or buy one for a small fee. Tips are best done in cash for your nail tech. But they do take cards too. read more

This one set included cat eye, blooming gel, chrome, sculpting gel, and more. He spent a lot of time on filing, shaping, etc so I could tell he was being really detail oriented. He assured me the outcome would be about 80% similar to the picture, since they wouldn't have the exact colors. The final price ended up being $135 plus tip, and I got an appointment the same day I called. It's very busy so make sure you get an appointment! There's definitely specific techs at Lux SF who are better at art than others, so make sure you ask for a good one!

It's been awhile since I've had my nails done and because I'm going to a special event this…read moreweekend, I decided to get a manicure (and also procrastinate on household chores). I just got their Lux manicure, which is their basic manicure that comes with a regular polish, nail cut, cuticle care, and a quick arm massage. My technician was very thorough. She recommended 3 coats, which I appreciated because other places will stop at 2, even if it looks thin. My nails take forever to dry, so when I smudged two of them trying to get my wallet, she fixed them right away. The couple of times I've been here, I've noticed that the vibes are pretty quiet. I remember falling asleep the first time I had my nails done here. If I was in one of the recliner seats at this most recent visit, I totally would have knocked out. At my first visit years ago, I remembered the technician putting this serum on my nails after the top coat that made it dry faster. She actually accidentally used it twice. I think that's why my nails lasted really long. However, the visits after that I noticed that they ended with just the top coat. I asked about it, but I don't think I was clear because I didn't get an answer. And btw, they now use tiny fans to dry the polish as opposed to that serum. But whatever serum they had before worked wonders and I wish they still did that. I just woke up from a nap and I must've put my hands underneath my head as I'm a side sleeper... there are imprints of my hair on my nails. It's not noticeable from afar but I was surprised to see it since the polish is dry. I'm not hopeful about how long the polish is going to last considering this. I think this is third or fourth time here and nothing is going to compare my first experience at this point. I'll probably come back whenever I need my nails done but I'm open to exploring other salons at this point.
