I was worked on by 2 people; a woman who started my manicure, but didn't finish it. Mostly I was worked on by a tall man. He didn't communicate very much, but it was my first time and maybe I should have communicated more. I will next time. I must say I walked away with my toes and finger nails looking quite good. The place is pricey, $70 (which wound up being $72 and change on my debit card which was not explained to me) for a manicure/pedicure. I'm used to spending $50. I chose wellness due to long massages as part of the service. I quite liked the arms/shoulders/neck massage. However, the legs/feet was lacking. Not enough pressure and the feet mostly ignored. I also noticed my friend's legs/feet massage was SUBSTANTIALLY longer than mine and her person (younger man) attended well to her feet. That is my biggest complaint, a lackluster and way too short legs/feet massage. My next complaint is the cursory attention to my intense calluses on my feet and cracked skin heels. He maybe used the pumice stone for 20 seconds on each foot ! THIS is such an important part of a pedicure, coming away with soft feet. My feet were exactly the same when I left as when I came in. SO DISAPPOINTED!!!! Certainly NOT worth spending $70!!! One of the other things that softens feet for a proper pedicure is soaking them in treated warm water. A bowl of tepid water arrived, but it was not warm enough and my feet HARDLY got a chance to soak making the soak useless. I don't know, end of the week (Sunday) late afternoon I got someone who was not so into providing a satisfying service?!? I will give them one more try and speak up about my needs

I love how they have massage chairs, they give you tea and some snacks which makes it all comforting and relaxing. Both the gals were super nice. The only cons I experienced was that I didn't feel like they had a crazy color selection but the both the ladies were super nice in helping me find a color. I also didn't think that there was much of a massage in the pedicure which is definitely the best part so that was kinda a bummer. Besides that, this place is overall really good for pedicures!

When the lady removed my gel, she used a very sharp cuticle trimmer to aggressively pick, rip, and scratch the polish off. My nails bled. It was like she was scratching off a lottery ticket extremely hard. There was no acetone or foil wraps or drill used to gently peel off polish. Rather, she was carelessly ripping away my nail bed. I'm not a nail technician but any smart person with common sense knows this is so extremely wrong. She filed my nails super uneven, they were all different shapes and lengths. I had to politely ask 2 times to file my nails round and short. She was super rude about it. Immediately, I noticed how extremely scratched up and fragile my nails became, yet she still put polish on. I should have said something, but I felt rude telling her how to do her job. Huge regret. Few days later, every single 10 of my REAL finger nails have broke in half. They weren't even acrylics. Broke so short that the skin under nails are exposed and bled. This has never happened to me before. You can see all of the deep scratches under the gel that's how bad it is. My nail beds are still extremely scratched up, flimsy, and super rough. They are DAMAGED. Out of the hundreds of gel manicures I've had, this was BY FAR the worst, most DAMAGING service. Please avoid unless you want your nails to be broken and damaged. This place should not be in business.

I have been going to this salon for 11 years, and for most of that time, I had nothing but amazing…read moreexperiences. Under the previous owners, Laura and Danny, the salon felt welcoming and personal. Over the years, we got to know them and many of the people who worked there, and we brought the business a great deal of repeat business. Unfortunately, since they retired and sold the business to Lux SF2, my experiences have changed dramatically. My longtime technician is still wonderful, and I have nothing but positive things to say about her. Unfortunately, the overall atmosphere and customer service have gone downhill. The manager who now runs the salon consistently comes across as angry and unwelcoming. There is rarely a hello or any effort to make customers feel welcome, and it seems that the employees are uncomfortable around her. There is also another employee who has displayed the same type of behavior toward customers. The problems really came to a head when my partner was accidentally charged double for a service. He noticed the overcharge immediately and was told that it would be corrected and refunded within a day or so. It wasn't. After three phone calls over the course of 10 days, the money still had not been refunded. We ultimately let the matter go because he returned to the salon and received the pedicure he had already paid for. Instead of simply resolving the issue professionally, the manager became angry and raised her voice at my partner, insisting that the money had already been refunded when it had not. My partner eventually contacted the manager at their sister salon on Hayes Street to explain what had happened. Apparently, that made the situation even worse, because the manager then confronted him and became even more upset with him in the salon. Then came my experience last night. I had a punch card that had been started under the previous ownership. I had one punch remaining for a complimentary manicure. This card had already been punched by the current salon seven times out of ten, so they clearly had been honoring it. After receiving my manicure, I presented the card and was suddenly told that I had to pay an additional $5 because it was an "old" card from the previous owner. When I questioned this, I was told that they don't honor the old cards--even though they have continued punching mine and accepting it as valid. If the salon no longer intends to honor a loyalty program, that should have been clearly communicated to customers before they continued accepting and stamping those cards. The situation became even more uncomfortable when the male employee raised his voice at me in front of other customers and began bringing up my partner's refund issue from a month and a half earlier. I explained that the matter had already been dealt with, but he continued to argue with me and speak to me disrespectfully. Meanwhile, the manager, who was present and is supposedly running the salon, never stepped in to de-escalate the situation or address the behavior. I eventually left and went to the main Lux SF location up the street to speak with management. The manager there was apologetic, listened to what happened, and treated me with the professionalism and courtesy I would have expected from the salon in the first place. There are also growing concerns about cleanliness and sanitation that I have noticed during my recent visits. The chairs and workstations appear to have a layer of nail dust on them, and sanitizing the stations does not seem to be the priority it once was. I have also observed pedicure stations not being sprayed with what appeared to be bleach/disinfectant after each use. Given the nature of the services being provided, this is particularly concerning to me. I plan to contact the appropriate health department to report what I have observed and ask them to determine whether the salon is following the required sanitation procedures. It is incredibly disappointing to see a place that we supported for so many years change this much. Customers should not feel like they are walking into an environment where employees are angry, customers are spoken to disrespectfully, charges are inconsistent, or legitimate concerns are met with confrontation. A business cannot build a lasting customer base by treating people this way. In my opinion, if the current management continues to create an atmosphere of anger, disrespect, and distrust--and if customers feel they are being overcharged or treated unfairly whenever there is an opportunity to do so--the business will eventually lose the loyal customers who helped sustain it for years. I genuinely hope Lux SF2 takes these concerns seriously. There is still an opportunity to turn things around, but that starts with treating customers and employees with basic respect, being transparent about pricing and loyalty programs, properly addressing billing issues, and making cleanliness and sanitation a priority again.

They skipped major steps, barely any cuticle cutting, no callus removall, no foot massage, and the whole service felt rushed even though the prices are definitely on the higher end. The biggest issue was the French tip on my toes. It came out so bad, crooked, uneven, and the black tip didn't even fully cover my nail. It looked shoddy and unprofessional. When I politely brought it up to the tech, she blamed it on the "shape of my nail bed." I get French toes literally every time I get my nails done and have never had anyone say that or struggle to paint them. If you can't paint nails, just say that. It was so disappointing that instead of getting French nails on my hands to match, I told them to just paint everything solid black so it wouldn't clash with how bad my toes looked. Even the woman sitting next to me wasn't happy about her nail paint so it wasn't just me. Definitely not worth the price, and the quality was nowhere near what a salon in this area should offer.

I wish I didn't have to post this review after coming to this nail salon a few times already, but…read morethis was by far the worst pedicure I have EVER gotten. When I sat down in the chair, I specifically told the person doing my nails that I had not gotten a pedicure in awhile (6 months actually) since the last time I got one, they cut the sides of my toenails and I got such bad ingrowns and my nails literally split from how bad they were. I had to grow them out for that long and had not touched them so my right toenail was a little uneven from the split. She said Ok and said she would be careful. She asked if she could cut just the top of the nail to make it even and square. I said yes, and then repeated that I did NOT want anything on the sides of my toes touched. Despite MULTIPLE times telling her that, she took it upon herself to "clean up" the sides of my big toenails by cutting them at a 45° angle.... the EXACT thing that the previous salon did that absolutely destroyed my nails. When I realized, I asked her, and she tried to defend herself while lying multiple times. She had the audacity to say 1. My nails were already like that, then changed her story to 2. That she was "cutting away" the excess nail polish she had put on away". And then again changed her story to 3. That she actually didn't cut them at all and didn't know what I was talking about. I then said, no you absolutely cut them, why would you cut the inside of the nail when I SPECIFICALLY said at least 2-3 times not to? She replied with, well they're already cut, I can't do anything now. AND THEN TRIED TO CUT THE SIDES AGAIN MORE SAYING SHE WAS TRYING TO FIX IT. I literally had to push her hand away and say "absolutely not, please stop touching my nail." When I walked in, I asked for 2 coats funny bunny, 1 coat bubble bath. Well, 7 coats later and her saying bubble bath wouldn't look very good. I had to accept that my nails were just not going to look acceptable at al. You can actually still see the brush strokes of the polish... AFTER 7 COATS!! It was absolutely absurd how they could not achieve a simple combination that is by far the most popular nail polish combo right now. After she said she was done, I paid, and I couldn't get out of there fast enough. I was on the bridge of tears knowing how long it had taken me to recover from my previous nail fiasco and how long it was going to take to recover from this. I am getting married in August and honestly so sad that my nails might still be affected by this. When I got home, I burst into tears and couldn't believe the state of my nails. After more inspection, I realized she DIDN'T EVEN PAINT MY RIGHT PINKY TOE!!!! I am going to a wedding abroad on Wednesday, so as you can imagine, I was pissed. I had to file down some of my other nails because they were shaped so badly. My big toes don't even look the same shape. I walked back into the store before a dinner reservation and asked for a refund. She asked me to take off my shoes so she could inspect my toes. I told her what had happened and that my pinky toe wasn't even painted. She said she couldn't offer me a refund, just a gift certificate since the service was completed. I responded with... well not really cause my toe was not painted and she specifically did something I asked her not to do. I didn't even mention how bad the nail polish application was since I thought it was pretty fricken apparent and had an uber waiting. I ended up taking the gift certificate since I was in a hurry, and they said I could come back to get them redone and there would be a different person there to do them. I don't know why they would think I would EVER go back there again, but I will be filing a dispute with my CC company. So sad since I had been here multiple times before and live down the street. Would NOT recommend.

During the wax, it was more painful than I expected, but I didn't think much of it since waxing can be uncomfortable and I trusted that I was in good hands. After she finished shaping my brows with tweezers, they were still stinging quite a bit. When we were done, she had me meet her at the front to pay. I wasn't offered a mirror to check my eyebrows, which wasn't a huge concern because I trusted her work. However, after I left, my eyebrows were still burning, so I used my phone camera to take a look. I noticed that the skin had been lifted on both eyebrows. As soon as I got home, I cleaned the area and applied ointment. I understand that accidents can happen during waxing, and I'm not upset that it happened. What disappointed me most was that I wasn't told my skin had lifted. I would have appreciated the honesty and some aftercare instructions so I knew how to properly care for the area. I hope this feedback is taken as constructive. Better communication in situations like this would go a long way and would have made my experience much more positive.
