I got a hard gel manicure. I have shorter nails so I understand the design has to adjust to the length, but I'm not a fan of the color of the French base, it looked less pink in the salon. My main issue is the shape of the hard gel - it looks really bulky and unflattering, and it doesn't even extend to the bottom of my nail. Not only is there space between my cuticle and where the gel starts, but they also didn't do much cuticle prep or care either, which I assumed was included in the manicure. We also had booked for a 6:30 pm time, but when we got there, they had accidentally removed our reservation so we had to wait as additional 40 minutes. read more

The lady that helped me also gave me a punch card saying that on my 10th visit, I will be treated to a free regular manicure. That's a nice perk and I may just take them up on it. I absolutely loved this nail salon when it was Creative. The manicures were thorough, never rushed, and my nails always lasted a long time. Unfortunately, after the change, my experience was the complete opposite. The manicure didn't feel the same quality I was used to, and my cuticles were left dry and peeling afterward--worse than when I came in. My gel manicures used to last a solid four weeks, but this time they started chipping after just two. I did notice some of the original staff are still there, but I had someone new this visit. I've been coming here for a while now and it pains me to say I have to find another place in another city. While my manicure turned out nicely, the woman doing my pedicure was very rough and even made me bleed. The whole process hurt a lot. My new nail place in SF!! I had been getting acrylic nails for soooo long but recently decided to try something more natural like gel to try to grow my own nails out in a healthy way. I picked this location because it was walkable from my place and they seemed to care a lot about keeping nails natural and healthy The salon is always pretty busy but they are usually pretty quick to take care of you and you don't wait long past your appointment time (definitely call ahead though). I've been there maybe 3-4 times now and have had different nail techs each time and they have all been amazing so I don't feel like I need to request someone specific. They really take the time and care to prep your nails correctly. Never had them cut my skin or hurt my nails in any way and my cuticles always look amazing after. They go above and beyond in service and give you fingerless gloves to wear (I'm assuming to protect your hands from the UV in the lamps???), offer water and candy, have massage chairs for pedicures, and my favorite - they give you an arm/hand massage with your service!!! I know leg massage with pedicures is common but the arm massage after manicures is new to me! They use warm lotion and it feels amazing. I also love that they apply the cuticle oil and then massage and then actually wipe the excess off with a wet hot towel so you're not oily and sticky after! Not the best, not the worst dip manicure I've ever gotten. I was intrigued with Creative Nail Care because it is in such a convenient location and open relatively late on weekdays. I called to schedule an appointment for the following day, super easy. When I arrived to my appointment, the first things that I noticed were how clean the salon was and that they were prepared for my appointment. There have been so many times when I go to a nail salon and I'm still waiting 10-15 minutes to get in a chair, which is frustrating. I was offered a water bottle while I decided on a color. Second thing I noticed was the lack of dip colors they offered. I wanted a natural, skin tone color and had to settle for a light pink or tan beige. I got a basic dip manicure with dip removal, and one nail extension. The dip removal was an extra $15 charge (yikes). This manicure took a pretty long time, around 2 hours. I appreciate that the nail tech took her time and did a total of 4 dip coats but by the time she was almost done, she realized that my pinky was completely crooked. The tech did ask me if that was okay, which...not really...but I was literally almost done, so I just left it, that's on me. 2 or 3 days post manicure, the color started to crack, leaving the nails looking very unpleasant. It also seemed like the dip didn't settle on one nail, so the dip and my natural nail were not attached (I hope that makes sense). So that nail also broke less than a week later. I ended up getting another manicure 1.5 weeks later, which defeats my purpose of getting dip. My bill was over $90 and honestly, just not worth it. They do offer a punch card so you get the 11th service free, which is so cool! I have never see that at a salon before. I saw such rave reviews and great photos, maybe I'll give them another shot but based off this experience, I'm not rushing back. read more

One of the most horrible experiences that I have faced during my entire nail experience. The old manicure place has been taken by new management and they are really messing up with time management. I had appointment at 5 pm last week and had to wait for half an hour to be seated ..they really don't care about other people time. Finally a guy came over and started doing my nails and he literally was out and about more like six time while doing my nails. The whole gel x removal was done so poorly .. not cleaning really good that's why I asked to wash my hand . We decided to do hard gel overlay and the guy took so many times to fix it and I have to be seated for 3 hrs just to get it done and at the end I decided not to do it anymore bc my hand was hurting so much bc of the numerous times they keep re doing it but still could not get it right. Convenient location and very cute and clean interior! I can tell this place is the kind that attracts and keeps regulars. The owner, Danny, is friendly and welcoming. The techs are skilled and diligent in their work. I like to measure how good a salon is by how much they dedicate to prepping the nail, buffing and cleaning, and shaping. They do not skip out on that here and the end result are beautifully shaped nails. There are multiple designers too--I was assigned to Laura, who copied my reference photo to a T, and made it better, in my opinion. She matched me with a beautiful base coat for my double skinny French and gave me two options to try. I came here with my friend and she got a gel manicure with chrome and I got a regular manicure as pictured below. I was able to grab an appointment and both of us were sitting next to each other which was great. The manicure was good however, after walking out of the store I noticed couple of my nails were patchy and missing the polish color (below the final seal) as you can see in the picture. I went back to let them know and they were able to add another coat on these nails quickly, which was great but I'd make sure to check your nails outside in the sunlight as well before you leave! They do a great job, shape nails well without ingrown issues after, provide quality polishes that stay on for those regular mani/pedi ppl like me, and provide massage chairs (yay!). Their prices are fair and they always the to get you in if they can. It's clean, friendly and you can't beat the location on Hayes valley. My regular mani usually lasts about two weeks before having to return with minimal chipping! My nails grow out so fast that getting gel isn't worth it for me. Probably my new go-to nail salon in the city! I haven't found a nail salon that pays as much attention to detail, perfect cuticle care, and as gentle with the filing process as Creative Nail Care! I was so amazed with the amount of time my manicurist, Chau, spent on making sure each nail was perfect and she was so incredibly gentle with my hands and nails. I've had acrylics for three years now, and finally taking a step back to have gel or gelx to allow my nails to heal. Chau was so kind, she took gentle care with my hands and did the designs I showed her exactly. I think the vibe in this shop is cozy and inviting, I came with a cousin and we both had so much fun on our girl time. Got the most beautiful chrome gel manicure here, but unfortunately had the worst allergic reaction all over eyelids, nose and lips and had to remove them within a week. They did not completely cure the gel, and apparently uncured gel often causes allergic reactions and dermatitis. This has never happened to me before, and I usually do not have sensitive skin so please be wary, especially if you're getting chrome! Regarding Daniel's reply, gel can harden when it is as little as 50-55% cured. My nails felt hard on top but some of it must have been uncured. read more
