I have been going to this salon for 11 years, and for most of that time, I had nothing but amazing experiences. Under the previous owners, Laura and Danny, the salon felt welcoming and personal. Over the years, we got to know them and many of the people who worked there, and we brought the business a great deal of repeat business. Unfortunately, since they retired and sold the business to Lux SF2, my experiences have changed dramatically. My longtime technician is still wonderful, and I have nothing but positive things to say about her. Unfortunately, the overall atmosphere and customer service have gone downhill. The manager who now runs the salon consistently comes across as angry and unwelcoming. There is rarely a hello or any effort to make customers feel welcome, and it seems that the employees are uncomfortable around her. There is also another employee who has displayed the same type of behavior toward customers. The problems really came to a head when my partner was accidentally charged double for a service. He noticed the overcharge immediately and was told that it would be corrected and refunded within a day or so. It wasn't. After three phone calls over the course of 10 days, the money still had not been refunded. We ultimately let the matter go because he returned to the salon and received the pedicure he had already paid for. Instead of simply resolving the issue professionally, the manager became angry and raised her voice at my partner, insisting that the money had already been refunded when it had not. My partner eventually contacted the manager at their sister salon on Hayes Street to explain what had happened. Apparently, that made the situation even worse, because the manager then confronted him and became even more upset with him in the salon. Then came my experience last night. I had a punch card that had been started under the previous ownership. I had one punch remaining for a complimentary manicure. This card had already been punched by the current salon seven times out of ten, so they clearly had been honoring it. After receiving my manicure, I presented the card and was suddenly told that I had to pay an additional $5 because it was an "old" card from the previous owner. When I questioned this, I was told that they don't honor the old cards--even though they have continued punching mine and accepting it as valid. If the salon no longer intends to honor a loyalty program, that should have been clearly communicated to customers before they continued accepting and stamping those cards. The situation became even more uncomfortable when the male employee raised his voice at me in front of other customers and began bringing up my partner's refund issue from a month and a half earlier. I explained that the matter had already been dealt with, but he continued to argue with me and speak to me disrespectfully. Meanwhile, the manager, who was present and is supposedly running the salon, never stepped in to de-escalate the situation or address the behavior. I eventually left and went to the main Lux SF location up the street to speak with management. The manager there was apologetic, listened to what happened, and treated me with the professionalism and courtesy I would have expected from the salon in the first place. There are also growing concerns about cleanliness and sanitation that I have noticed during my recent visits. The chairs and workstations appear to have a layer of nail dust on them, and sanitizing the stations does not seem to be the priority it once was. I have also observed pedicure stations not being sprayed with what appeared to be bleach/disinfectant after each use. Given the nature of the services being provided, this is particularly concerning to me. I plan to contact the appropriate health department to report what I have observed and ask them to determine whether the salon is following the required sanitation procedures. It is incredibly disappointing to see a place that we supported for so many years change this much. Customers should not feel like they are walking into an environment where employees are angry, customers are spoken to disrespectfully, charges are inconsistent, or legitimate concerns are met with confrontation. A business cannot build a lasting customer base by treating people this way. In my opinion, if the current management continues to create an atmosphere of anger, disrespect, and distrust--and if customers feel they are being overcharged or treated unfairly whenever there is an opportunity to do so--the business will eventually lose the loyal customers who helped sustain it for years. I genuinely hope Lux SF2 takes these concerns seriously. There is still an opportunity to turn things around, but that starts with treating customers and employees with basic respect, being transparent about pricing and loyalty programs, properly addressing billing issues, and making cleanliness and sanitation a priority again. read more

I am a return customer, I go here to get my nails done all the time and absolutely love them! They always are down to do something fun with my nails, I bring ideas and they let me know if they can execute them. My favorite nail tech is Bill but have gotten my nails done by others before and the quality is always on point. I usually go for the Gel X but they offer a variety of services. I always bring my friends here and everyone leaves happy and satisfied. The service here is always friendly and they offer refreshments with their services, usually water or tea. their prices are affordable and accessible depending on what you want done! definitely recommend if you're in the area. read more

I think the experience feels very based on which technician you get - the woman who filed and shaped my nails was pretty rough and not detail oriented. I got a hard gel manicure. I have shorter nails so I understand the design has to adjust to the length, but I'm not a fan of the color of the French base, it looked less pink in the salon. My main issue is the shape of the hard gel - it looks really bulky and unflattering, and it doesn't even extend to the bottom of my nail. Not only is there space between my cuticle and where the gel starts, but they also didn't do much cuticle prep or care either, which I assumed was included in the manicure. We also had booked for a 6:30 pm time, but when we got there, they had accidentally removed our reservation so we had to wait as additional 40 minutes. read more

I went to LUXSF2 nail salon today and wanted to leave an honest review because I've actually been here before when it was under the previous ownership and always had really positive experiences. First, the salon itself was clean, well ventilated, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. I appreciated that the space felt comfortable and sanitary. Unfortunately, I was really disappointed with the quality of my nails this time, especially considering the price. I got a gel extension manicure and a pedicure and ended up paying $178 total (including $15 tip), which honestly shocked me. I was charged extra to remove my previous acrylics, and I also asked for callus remover during the pedicure, which somehow made the pedicure price extremely high. The pedicure itself was okay, but the massage was very underwhelming. The bigger issue is the manicure. There's visible gel/glue buildup underneath several of my nails, and they just don't look professionally finished. For the amount I paid, I expected much cleaner work and better attention to detail. Did a walk in recently when my regular nail person isn't available. Got a pretty decent manicure here. Good selections of OPI colors. I picked out OPI: Gemini and I, a white nail polish with some lovely shimmer. This is usually my aesthetics so I loved it. Very busy place during lunch time in Hayes Valley, but they were able to accommodate me, so that was appreciated. The lady that helped me also gave me a punch card saying that on my 10th visit, I will be treated to a free regular manicure. That's a nice perk and I may just take them up on it. I visited this nail salon for the first time after seeing the beautiful photos of their work online, and the salon itself was exactly what I expected-cute, clean, and busy, which is always a good sign. I got Gel-X nails with a champagne cat-eye polish and a gold trim design, along with a pedicure. The cat-eye polish turned out absolutely beautiful, and I really love how it catches the light. The only challenge I had was communicating the exact shape and design I wanted. I think there may have been a bit of a language barrier, but in the end, my nail shape came out really nice. For the design, I told my nail tech I wanted a gold trim and gave her some creative freedom because I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted. She preferred that I show her a reference photo, so I ended up spending quite a bit of time searching for designs on my phone while she was prepping my nails. I felt a little rushed and stressed trying to find something on the spot, so next time I'll definitely come prepared with inspiration photos. The first gold trim design wasn't quite what I had envisioned, so another nail technician stepped in to help. He was very skilled, but unfortunately, after I left the salon, part of the gold trim came off. I called the salon, and they had me come back right away to fix it, which I really appreciated. The first repair wasn't quite right either, but when I asked if we could change the design instead, he happily redid it to better match my other nails. It isn't identical, but it looks much better, and I'm happy with the final result. I also got my toes done, and they turned out great. Overall, I'd give this salon 4 out of 5 stars. While the experience had a few bumps, I really appreciated that they stood behind their work and took the time to make things right instead of rushing me out the door. I've been to quite a few nail salons around San Francisco, and I can definitely say they have talented technicians. Looking at my nails today, I actually like them even more than I did yesterday! I've been coming here for a while now and it pains me to say I have to find another place in another city. I absolutely loved this nail salon when it was Creative. The manicures were thorough, never rushed, and my nails always lasted a long time. Unfortunately, after the change, my experience was the complete opposite. The manicure didn't feel the same quality I was used to, and my cuticles were left dry and peeling afterward--worse than when I came in. My gel manicures used to last a solid four weeks, but this time they started chipping after just two. I did notice some of the original staff are still there, but I had someone new this visit. They offer water while you get your nails done. The massage chairs and comfortable and the place is very clean and has a nice aesthetic. Just had the worst experience and I will not be coming back. This was for a hard gel manicure. I came in with hard gel, longer nails and asked for them to be cut. They were cut really really short, but it was too late. I asked for square and she filed them round. I asked her two more times for square and they are still round. The color I picked looks nothing like the color on my nails. I have always picked sparkle colors and they have never needed a base but one time, where I had the base done and the sparkles over it and it looked great. This time, she put three coats of sparkles and it came out goopy and was on my skin. I had her take it off and we tried a base coat and the sparkles over it. I did not like it at all but didn't want my nails filed down again. Some nails are so thick and don't follow my natural shape. Thick round and goopy, only two nails are not thick with the coat! I am going to reference my blue nails I had done there previously and the orange nails I have now. I have been there 20+ times, and now, I will never go back. Came here with a friend for some pampering and I had no idea I've been doing it all wrong. I didn't know there was a 5 step process. Like why have I been neglecting my feet Shameful. While my manicure turned out nicely, the woman doing my pedicure was very rough and even made me bleed. The whole process hurt a lot. My new nail place in SF!! I had been getting acrylic nails for soooo long but recently decided to try something more natural like gel to try to grow my own nails out in a healthy way. I picked this location because it was walkable from my place and they seemed to care a lot about keeping nails natural and healthy The salon is always pretty busy but they are usually pretty quick to take care of you and you don't wait long past your appointment time (definitely call ahead though). I've been there maybe 3-4 times now and have had different nail techs each time and they have all been amazing so I don't feel like I need to request someone specific. They really take the time and care to prep your nails correctly. Never had them cut my skin or hurt my nails in any way and my cuticles always look amazing after. They go above and beyond in service and give you fingerless gloves to wear (I'm assuming to protect your hands from the UV in the lamps???), offer water and candy, have massage chairs for pedicures, and my favorite - they give you an arm/hand massage with your service!!! I know leg massage with pedicures is common but the arm massage after manicures is new to me! They use warm lotion and it feels amazing. I also love that they apply the cuticle oil and then massage and then actually wipe the excess off with a wet hot towel so you're not oily and sticky after! Not the best, not the worst dip manicure I've ever gotten. I was intrigued with Creative Nail Care because it is in such a convenient location and open relatively late on weekdays. I called to schedule an appointment for the following day, super easy. When I arrived to my appointment, the first things that I noticed were how clean the salon was and that they were prepared for my appointment. There have been so many times when I go to a nail salon and I'm still waiting 10-15 minutes to get in a chair, which is frustrating. I was offered a water bottle while I decided on a color. Second thing I noticed was the lack of dip colors they offered. I wanted a natural, skin tone color and had to settle for a light pink or tan beige. I got a basic dip manicure with dip removal, and one nail extension. The dip removal was an extra $15 charge (yikes). This manicure took a pretty long time, around 2 hours. I appreciate that the nail tech took her time and did a total of 4 dip coats but by the time she was almost done, she realized that my pinky was completely crooked. The tech did ask me if that was okay, which...not really...but I was literally almost done, so I just left it, that's on me. 2 or 3 days post manicure, the color started to crack, leaving the nails looking very unpleasant. It also seemed like the dip didn't settle on one nail, so the dip and my natural nail were not attached (I hope that makes sense). So that nail also broke less than a week later. I ended up getting another manicure 1.5 weeks later, which defeats my purpose of getting dip. My bill was over $90 and honestly, just not worth it. They do offer a punch card so you get the 11th service free, which is so cool! I have never see that at a salon before. I saw such rave reviews and great photos, maybe I'll give them another shot but based off this experience, I'm not rushing back. read more

They do not skip out on that here and the end result are beautifully shaped nails. There are multiple designers too--I was assigned to Laura, who copied my reference photo to a T, and made it better, in my opinion. She matched me with a beautiful base coat for my double skinny French and gave me two options to try. There was no rushing, no shortcuts, and just pure dedication, even though we were the last customers of the day. The whole gel x removal was done so poorly .. not cleaning really good that's why I asked to wash my hand . I came here with my friend and she got a gel manicure with chrome and I got a regular manicure as pictured below. I was able to grab an appointment and both of us were sitting next to each other which was great. The manicure was good however, after walking out of the store I noticed couple of my nails were patchy and missing the polish color (below the final seal) as you can see in the picture. I went back to let them know and they were able to add another coat on these nails quickly, which was great but I'd make sure to check your nails outside in the sunlight as well before you leave! They do a great job, shape nails well without ingrown issues after, provide quality polishes that stay on for those regular mani/pedi ppl like me, and provide massage chairs (yay!). Their prices are fair and they always the to get you in if they can. It's clean, friendly and you can't beat the location on Hayes valley. My regular mani usually lasts about two weeks before having to return with minimal chipping! My nails grow out so fast that getting gel isn't worth it for me. Probably my new go-to nail salon in the city! I haven't found a nail salon that pays as much attention to detail, perfect cuticle care, and as gentle with the filing process as Creative Nail Care! I was so amazed with the amount of time my manicurist, Chau, spent on making sure each nail was perfect and she was so incredibly gentle with my hands and nails. I've had acrylics for three years now, and finally taking a step back to have gel or gelx to allow my nails to heal. Chau was so kind, she took gentle care with my hands and did the designs I showed her exactly. I think the vibe in this shop is cozy and inviting, I came with a cousin and we both had so much fun on our girl time. I will say, it's best to make an appointment - they're so accommodating, if a space opens up, they call costumers to give them the option to come earlier! I love that they also have a reward (stamp card) system - it really draws you to come back -- and with their excellent customer service, without a doubt, I will be back! The three of us booked an appointment together. Wish we could sit in the same row. But there were only two seats in each row. Tracy did a great job with my friend's ghost design requests. The ghosts looked adorable. Hong did a great job with my other friend's stiletto and blood nail design Lien did a good job with prepping the nails, but couldn't quite replicate the designs I wanted.
