I've searched all corners of San Francisco and finally found Segi at Nailey Bar. My nails have been cleaner and HEALTHIER. There are so many people/nail salons in SF who say "Russian nails." But a quite awful experience. Segi is amazing she takes her time and cares about her work. There's no other nail salon I'd recommend who uses clean, non toxic polish. This is a review based on my second visit: I booked an appointment to do a mani and I was SORELY disappointed. I was told that Amy was an "expert" manicurist and boy is that concerning. First, I asked Amy for some milky white nails and this was my FIRST russian mani. She started you know cleaning my nails and comparing her work to Lina's, Amy did an awful job at cleaning my nails and preparing them. After cleaning my nails, Amy started applying the MILKY WHITE polish until one of the workers told her no, she had to apply the nude polish at the bottom first. She was prepping my nail and she COULD NOT get the nail to stay and my pinky was literally sore she was on her 4th try. At this point I felt UNCOMFORTABLE and asked her to call the other woman and I removed my hands from the counter. I just did not feel she knew was she as doing. She was STRUGGLING and was not flipping my nail to make sure an even distribution. The other lady came and told me she will give me them for free and I was so confused. I told her paying was not a problem ever, but I wanted a good job and I felt that Amy did not know what she as doing and she needed help. When she was painting the nails I had to ask her to put the polish to the base of the nail and had to remind her about cuticle oil. I was told the nails would be free but then I just got a $20 discount. I am not the type of customer to make a scene or be rude and I did not bring this up but any other customer would definitely would have brought up that free nails were promised not a $20 discount. I would not book with Amy if you want the price of an "expert" with the experience of a rookie. In the end the nails did look good BUT the experience and time it took was so insane. I stayed a little past closing it just took forever. read more

While this spot has been my go-to, there are a few factors that have led me to update my review. To start, I called for a same-day walk-in appointment and was assured they had time for me. When I arrived, I ended up waiting 30 minutes to be seen, and the energy in the nail salon was pretty negative and aggressive, as one of the nail artists was yelling at her coworkers. This made me uncomfortable and was very unprofessional; it's not the first time I've seen this particular nail artist behave negatively. As for my manicure, Amy was my nail artist, and I haven't been her client before. The main thing to note is she skipped a vital step of the Russian manicure on nine of my nails (she didn't skip this step on my first nail), which is flipping the nails upside down to even out the polish. Since she only flipped and applied the polish properly on one nail, it's clear she knew the proper procedure but decided to rush my manicure. This has led to my nail polish looking very uneven and the polish lifting a week later. The whole process felt rushed, which is a shame because of the cost of the service. Another small thing to note is that they posted a giveaway on their Instagram but never selected a winner (screenshot attached). It seems like they just wanted the free marketing/engagement from their clients without providing the service they promised in the giveaway. This definitely changed the way I view this business and how they operate, as well as my awful recent manicure. If you're looking for a Russian manicure in the area, another spot on the corner of Polk/Pacific is a spot I would recommend over Nailey Bar. Overall, Nailey Bar has bad practices and doesn't care for their customers' satisfaction. read more

I'm so glad Lina opened her own place. I've been going to her for a long time, and she consistently does high-quality work. She's incredibly accommodating, thoughtful, and really takes her time to make sure everything looks perfect. I come to her for Russian manicure, pedicure, and nail art, and I'm always happy with the results. You can tell she truly cares about her craft and her clients. The place is also in a central location, and it's usually calm and quiet inside, with no strong or unpleasant odors, which I really appreciate. The salon is clean with pretty decor and televisions to watch shows while getting your nails perfected.
