Fresh manicure (not gel). I'll report back in a week or so to show how long they lasted
Vira P.

It's been awhile since I've had my nails done and because I'm going to a special event this weekend, I decided to get a manicure (and also procrastinate on household chores). I just got their Lux manicure, which is their basic manicure that comes with a regular polish, nail cut, cuticle care, and a quick arm massage. My technician was very thorough. She recommended 3 coats, which I appreciated because other places will stop at 2, even if it looks thin. My nails take forever to dry, so when I smudged two of them trying to get my wallet, she fixed them right away. The couple of times I've been here, I've noticed that the vibes are pretty quiet. I remember falling asleep the first time I had my nails done here. If I was in one of the recliner seats at this most recent visit, I totally would have knocked out. At my first visit years ago, I remembered the technician putting this serum on my nails after the top coat that made it dry faster. She actually accidentally used it twice. I think that's why my nails lasted really long. However, the visits after that I noticed that they ended with just the top coat. I asked about it, but I don't think I was clear because I didn't get an answer. And btw, they now use tiny fans to dry the polish as opposed to that serum. But whatever serum they had before worked wonders and I wish they still did that. I just woke up from a nap and I must've put my hands underneath my head as I'm a side sleeper... there are imprints of my hair on my nails. It's not noticeable from afar but I was surprised to see it since the polish is dry. I'm not hopeful about how long the polish is going to last considering this. I think this is third or fourth time here and nothing is going to compare my first experience at this point. I'll probably come back whenever I need my nails done but I'm open to exploring other salons at this point.

Kiddies manicure and pedi $35
Sharon S.

First off... i do not write bad reviews but from my experience at this business yesterday ... I feel compelled to do so for other potential customers. My granddaughter was extremely excited to get her FIRST MANICURE. She just turned five and couldn't wait as her mother was strict in not allowing any sort of kids grooming or make up kits. She wanted to instill in her children that they are "beautiful" inside if they have a good and kind heart for others-- that outside appearances are secondary to be a "beautiful person." As with any young girls, getting a manicure and putting on "pretend makeup" is fun! Our daughter picked this salon with its great reviews hoping for a good first time experience . Our little one was beside herself with happiness and told all her uncles and aunts when she turns five... " mom and dad will allow me to go to a nail salon one time on my birthday." In fact, our daughter , who is a doctor, took half of her day off to make this day right. It was ONLY this ONE TIME. It was a BIG DEAL. Granddaughter walked into the salon, glowing with excitement. Customers also got caught up with her excitement as she sat down on her treatment chair. However, when my daughter and I sat ... we were both told to "wait outside". That was puzzling. No... we were going to stay, thank you. Wanted to take a few pictures. I was HIGHLY surprised that the technicians went straight to put on nail polish without clipping, filing, buffing.... NOTHING done on her nails whatsoever. We could've done it ourselves at home! :( We conveyed for $35,which we booked for and confirmed onsite when we walked in...she should have gotten the soak, clipping, pushback cuticle care and a warm lotion rub . We also pointed this out on their advertisement and menu. Our daughter politely asked to have those services done but they said the polish has been put on already ( seconds ago) so they can't do anything about it. When we asked where's the "soak"? Answer: "Her feet don't reach"... although we told them they could've scooted her forward. There was NO INTENTION of doing any of the services advertised from the beginning... Each item they advertised was not done but answered with an excuse. As they immediately slapped on polish as soon as our granddaughter sat down..the experience was over before we could even begin reversing it since " we already put on polish". Of course they did... seconds after she got seated. The customers near us were also shocked. The entire experience last a few minutes , including a quick fan dry. They told us we're "finished ". What? The finger nails weren't even dry and they tried to put on her shoes with wet toe nails. The customer at one side even pointed out and said a couple of times out loud" her nails aren't dry." I told the business that they should not advertise what they cannot deliver. That we have gotten our own nails done in salons regularly for decades and what they did was not proper nail care process. It's no wonder they told us to "wait outside". The experience was suppose to be 40 minutes....We left the house to the salon, got the birthday nail experience and were back home in less than an hour. We live 2.9 miles away according to Mapquest. That's how quick it was. Walking away, we felt very very disappointed and upset. They did not even try to rectify the improper handling of the situation. DO NOT TRUST THEM. :( SHADY BUSINESS.

Smith & Cult: Sugarette; Deborah Lippmann: Go your own way.
Lisa X.

Tried this nail salon recently when my nail tech was on leave. One of my friends likes this place so I'm like, why not? Lets try. Smallish salon, nice nail techs, lots of pretty colors to choose from. I noticed that they carry name brand polishes that are vegan, cruelty free and/or non toxic. Brands like Smith & Cult and Deborah Lippmann. Had a lovely time. Located on Hayes and Octavia.

Hard gel manicure
Elizabeth W.

This was my first time visiting Lux and Bella did a great job on my nails! I accidentally booked a regular gel service online instead of hard gel but she graciously accommodated my needs and my manicure turned out perfect. I will definitely be coming back to Lux for my future nail needs :)

Bunny nail art
Victoria K.

I think I've found my nail tech in SF! Got these bunny designs done and they're sooo cute. Everyone has great attention to detail, super patient, and obviously artistic 10/10 recommend! Fyi - They sculpted the bunny so it's super cute 3D nail art ^.^

Brush stroke above the white line incomplete polish on top

I'm really disappointed with the French tip that I got tonight 02/19/26. I asked for a French tip and I wanted to explore some cat eye options. Immediately the man assigned to my nails, looked confused and about seven minutes later started on my nails. He only did one coat of the pink polish originally, and I had to ask him to do a second coat which is sort of the bare minimum when it comes to a French tip gel manicure. Then, as he was doing the white tip, he completely missed the corner on three of my nails, and I had to ask him to go back to each of those nails and complete the white line. He completed only two of them and then put my hand immediately into the heating machine. I didn't get a chance to look at them before he started on my next hand. Then, as he was finishing up on my right hand, I pointed him to my index finger which had to clear brushstroke above the white line I asked him to fix it.... He looked at it and said "I will file it down after I'm done". I then told him that it's the brushstroke with the paint and has nothing to do with needing to be filed down. He took a look at it again, forced my right hand down and started putting lotion on my hand... Completely ignored what I said and did NOT fix the mistakes he made on my nails. At the end, as he's rubbing the lotion on my hand, he said "you can do a cat eye next time" Completely disregarding the notes that I had included in my appointment reservation AND My request at the beginning of the appointment. Not only did I leave the store with multiple nails looking like absolute garbage, I didn't even get what I came in asking for and was willing to pay for. The nail tech was purposefully ignoring my request for him to look at my nail and fix the numerous mistakes he made. They were so clear as day, and I pointed them out multiple times. Overall, the quality of the French tip gel manicure is unsatisfactory and I'm very disappointed. I included photos with this review because I think it's important for people to see the nails that I went home with and paid $70 for even after advocating for myself while I was there. I will never come back to this location and I will never recommend this business. So disappointed.

Pedicure by Andy French gel with powder to shape and Nails by Chloe, French gel almond medium length recommended Andy
Raya M.

I had such a great experience here and I am so happy with how everything turned out. This was my third time coming here for a pedicure and first time for a manicure which was also my first manicure ever! Andy did my French gel pedicure with gel and powder to shape, and my toes look so clean, smooth, and perfect. Chloe did my nails after Andy suggested a medium almond French gel, and she absolutely nailed it. The shape, the shine, and the white tips are exactly what I wanted. Both Andy and Chloe were so careful, gentle, and easy to talk to, and you can tell they really care about their work. If you want beautiful French nails on your hands or feet, I definitely recommend booking with Andy for pedicures and Chloe for nails. I left feeling so put together and happy.

Cateye gelx
Marny N.

I came here for the first time and got a gel x set with Nancy - she did an amazing job! She was super detail oriented and careful which made the application and nail prep painless (iykyk). She took her time with the shaping, and made sure I was happy with the shape/color before proceeding. The set cost $85 which I think is fairly priced - I would go back!

This was before the fill. My second visit. They don't push cuticles back or clean it up. Just apply builder.

I recently sent an email with my feedback and I'm thinking they don't read them. After looking at their reviews, I wish I would have looked just a bit closer. I do think this would benefit others who visit. The only pro is that they are available for drop in for gel builder manicures. A few days ago I came in for a gel builder mani and gel pedicure This is my 3rd time coming to lux after my original nail place could not see me during the holidays. I tried you all with my 2 daughters and appreciated a last minute appointment. The manicure was good but the use of the file burned me even when I mentioned it to the nail tech. I decided to come back and made another appointment. When I arrived, I was asked to walk to lux 2 to be seen. I agreed but found it odd that this wasn't discussed over the phone. Tina did my mani. Linh did my pedi. The pedi was decent but she cut me multiple times with the file and dug deep into my ingrowns which made me bleed. Again I liked that she got them out but the cuts around my cuticles were terrible. On my third visit, I called to make an appt. It was around 3p. They said they could see me at 630p. I was given a last minute appointment and although I was grateful, your team seemed to go really fast to get home. They drilled my gel builder off and it burned. I asked him to lower the speed on the drill and he instead drilled lighter versus what I asked for . The builder burned probably because he applied it so thick. When he filed it down, he again used the fast speed which burned my nail beds again. The gel builder is thick, uneven and flat now. No apex shape. And I don't think the color I chose was the color that was used. When I looked at my nails with polish on, you can see the areas with uneven surfaces and even builder that overflowed under my nails. As a gesture, I mentioned to him that next time I'd prefer thinner and more natural sanding shape vs the flat look. The pedicure again by linh was ok. She cut 3 of my toes around the cuticle because she's sanding and filing too fast. Everything that was applied after, burned, which made the pedicure uncomfortable. Then I went to pay. Your website offers gel builder refill for 70 and gel pedicure for 60. That's 130. I was charged 140. I left a 20 dollar tip. The polish I used was gel. Not chrome. Not cat eye. I don't know if I'll return. I hope you address these things and let me know you'll correct them. I'd hate for others to continue having these experiences.

Like a virgin - Deborah Lipmann
Ms. C.

Not too happy with how my nails look only 2 days after my manicure. The layers look uneven and like the polish is chipping on the tops and corners. This was the "like a virgin" but Deborah Lippmann. The deluxe manicure and pedicure itself was very relaxing, just wish the finished product looked good and lasted long. I've never had this issue with a manicure before, so I'm not sure if it's a nail polish brand issue or application issue..? I came here to try out before getting my wedding manicure.

Nicoleta T.

First time here and I couldn't be happier! Chloe went above and beyond with the nail art and made sure it looked exactly like my inspo picture!! She was so precise and careful with every little tiny detail. I'm so in love with my new set and ready for my vacation The place overall is nice, not really luxurious as I was expecting but nice and clean! Thank you Lux SF!!

Chipped and broke off after one day .
Daryana T.

Nail quality is poor, immediately after getting them done- it chipped the next day. Please reconsider before getting your nails done here.

She's also really efficient in the best way. Nothing ever feels rushed, but she works with a level of ease and confidence that makes the whole process feel seamless. And the durability is kind of unreal. I'm hard on my hands for my job and I've never had lifting, chipping, or breaks-- ever. That alone is rare, especially with this level of design. This time, however, all I wanted was a builder gel fill but I left with two cut fingers and pure disappointment. I could tell that the woman doing my nails was shaving aggressively, but I figured she wanted to be quick & efficient. I didn't feel the cuts when they happened, otherwise I definitely would've said something about the pain. However, later in the process, I heard her say "oh" and I noticed that my left ring finger was ACTIVELY bleeding. Most frustratingly, she did not say sorry OR address the blood, rather, just started cleaning it like nothing happened. Then I looked at my right ring finger and saw cut skin there as well. I got light headed but couldn't muster up the courage to object. I shouldn't have to. The photos do not do it justice because as I mentioned, my left ring finger was BLEEDING down the nail. To make things worse, this nail technician was extremely rude and short. When I asked her if my left pinky nail could be shortened to match the length of my right pinky, she looked at it and didn't say a word. It wasn't until all the paint was finished that I then asked her again "can we please make this length match"? And she finally said she was going to, as if my question was an imposition. The audacity. At the end of the appointment, I still tipped (less than I normally do), regretfully-so. When I asked her if her name was one of the displayed venmo cards she said "no". Unfortunately, I do not have her name but she was on the younger side with glasses. I would not recommend unless you want to feel rushed, ignored, and even injured. I will not be going back to this salon.
