This was my first time taking an elevator to a nail salon. It's a very intimate space with room for two people to get their nails done at a time so I would definitely recommend calling ahead to schedule an appointment. I got a gel mani/ pedi. It was efficient and relaxing with so few other people. So glad I found this place- I would happily visit again next time I am in town! I got a lavender cat eye gel manicure and gel pedicure and expected the prices to be higher because of the whole elevator two customers at a time situation but the prices were reasonable and the quality is lasting well.
Affordable and great quality! They do hard gel for $40 and have so many OPI colors I opted for a cherry red and I'm still obsessed I will definitely be back
Small nail shop on the 5th floor of an office building with affordable gel & acrylic! It was ~$65 for acrylic with design and ~$40 for gel. The nail tech did a good job shaping and filing nails, but the design felt a little rushed. If I were to come back, i'd probably stick with just one color, but overall service was very nice

Annie is the absolute best in Sf! I've been visiting her cozy salon in Nob hill for over two years and after moving out of the neighborhood I knew I'd keep coming back. We've done so many fun designs and she is always happy to switch up the shape or style. I love the hard gel, it's durable and natural looking. My friends love her too and are always asking who does my nails. Can't say enough good things! I recommend calling ahead and there is a bus stop right out front.
This is more of an express spot for when you need nice nails in a jiffy. Both times that I've visited after work, Annie has been the only one working on nails. Make sure to call ahead of time for this reason! Her gel manicures are $30 for me, which includes prior gel removal. I love the way she shapes my nails and how quick she is. She's also a great conversationalist if you're in the mood to chat! The price is right and the location is stellar (located a few blocks from Union Square). However, I have to give her 4 stars instead of 5 due to the fact that her gel manicures do not last. Both times, my gel manicures have only lasted 1.5 weeks before they began chipping/lifting. I just can't justify the price tag for this short amount of satisfaction. Additionally, I walk out enjoying how she cleans up my cuticles, but the cuticles then become messy after a couple days. Not too sure why these 2 things happen, but just wanted to give a heads up! If you're in the market for nice gel nails that'll last through a couple of special occasions, this is the spot to go!
I had such a great experience at Doan's Nail Salon!!! Annie did my nails. From the beginning to the end I felt welcomed, comfortable, and very taken care of she was so kind. I got a French tip with the pink part a certain color pink and it came out SO BEAUTIFUL!! These are my favorite nails ever, and I haven't gotten my nails done this nice in such a long time. Honestly I'm very picky with nail salons but this is my new favorite spot. So so beautiful I love. Thank you Annie Will forever be coming here now!
My mood-changing-color-polish cherry has officially been popped and it all went down at Doan's. I can sometimes be a bit of a nail polish bore. I'm constantly exploring endless shades of nudes, neutrals and a spectrum of deep reds that could rival that of a French wine cellar. But every once in awhile I stray from that and fully commit to a fun, undeniably bright color. When I first walked into the office building and headed up to the business suite where Doan's is located, I had no idea what I was going for other than a gel manicure. Luckily, I was able to catch her before the lunch rush that I'm sure she gets and was seated immediately. I noticed she carried mood color changing colors and my intrigue immediately set in. I found a tangerine ~ hot pink color which on the bottle left me feeling unsure, but once applied I knew I would like. I didn't really know how much the color would change, but had so much fun discovering how dramatically the color is affected by temperature. The entire time I was in SF with cooler temperatures, the polish was a deep tangerine. While later that weekend when I went up to Napa to enjoy warmer weather, it was hot pink the entire time. No chips either for my gel polish and it's already been a little over two weeks, so it's hanging in there the way I would expect. Overall, very please with my gel mani and the service provided at Doan's!
Found this place on yelp and am not at all disappointed! I asked for Annie as her photos on here are pretty impressive. She is very welcoming and friendly. She was even flexible w/me after I called saying I was going to be 15 mins late. She did my Halloween nails which I loved (see photo)! Rating 4 stars instead of 5 because when I wanted to get my long Halloween nails off I went back to her to take off the acrylics, she instead just shaved them down as much as possible. I totally understand her reasoning, which was that since I got the acrylics barely two weeks ago if she took them off my nail would be very weak. As a person who does not wear acrylics often and only got for a special occasion I really just wanted my nails to breathe normally again. Now I have short nails with gel, which Annie advised that on my next visit we will use the foil to take off the gel and acrylics.... bumper I have to wait another 3-4 weeks until then!
Annie recommended a more slimmer look on my nails and changed my square nail tips to these sleek sexy claws.
Been here 2 and and half times. Service feels rushed, got hard gel per recommended by Annie. Not even a week later the gel broke off the tip of my nail and I had to come back for a repair then the next day the same thing happened to my other thumb. When I came for my next appointment she cut the skin by my big toe and made me bleed. I requested a blue, marble, transparent water like design for my nails and let's just say they looked nothing like the inspo. When I told her I didn't like them, that they didn't look like the photo I sent her she told me it was too later. She had an attitude removing the color and did a very messy job on the design I requested instead
Been in search of a nail place when I stumbled upon Doan's Nails on yelp! Called in to make an appointment and they had availability the same day. Annie was super sweet and patient with my requests -- I wanted sage green nails and she was able to mix colors to create the perfect shade for me! She checked in often to make sure I was happy with the length, shape, and color. Overall, I had a great experience and would be happy to recommend this place to others!
I walked in and got a gel manicure/pedicure for $65, which included removal of a previous gel pedicure that I had. Great price and honestly not bad. They are no frills, so you won't be served hot tea and I had to get my manicure done in an awkward sideways position with the UV machine on my lap because they ran out of manicure tables at the time -- but it's okay because I'm not looking to be pampered like a queen, I just want nice nails! I wish my nail technician had pushed my cuticles back to create more nail space, but I guess I can always call that out next time (I wasn't paying attention as she was doing it, so only noticed my cuticles still there after it was too late). However, I don't want to give them a pass because a nail technician should know that you're supposed to push back the cuticles to create more nail space without having to be told to do it. I will post another update to report back on the quality of the manicure, but it's been pretty sturdy so far and I've gone to a music festival and a wedding with no problems. EDIT: Mani/pedi lasted 2 weeks before it started getting chips here and there. My verdict: pretty average

My first time getting my nails done here, I originally wanted acrylics but Annie told me about gel extensions which I ended up getting and love!! Looks so much more natural than your thick fake acrylics. I paid $80 for a full set which I think is super reasonable ($70 for a full set, she did the cat eye for free! And $10 for the design) and pedicure was $35. She has a cute little shop on sutter and worked alone. Definitely coming back! read more

Sweetest woman did my nails! I got a gel mani for valentine's day and she did a good job replicating what I showed her as a reference (chrome nails with a little red heart on each nail). The place is quite small so definitely call ahead for an appointment, especially if you want to do a more complex design. You have to take the elevator up the 500 building to the 8th floor to find the studio. Prices pretty standard for SF nails -- the gel mani cost me $50. I've yet to find anywhere cheaper around me. They do a decent job for the price. Felt pretty pampered throughout the whole experience. I noticed one of my nails wasn't fully painted/started chipping right after though, which made me a bit sad :( Would recommend, it was a nice experience -- super kind workers and the vibe inside is very relaxing! They also do lash extensions and facials. read more

This nail shop is a no-frills approach to good manicures. Located in an office building, it has a bit of an odd vibe but super central. I always texted and have an appointment usually within a day or a couple days. It's super affordable and you will get what you pay for. They will not clean the cuticle and have some imperfections but provide a gel/acrylic manicure that will last around a month or more. I've loved my manicures there, but, again, 4/5 because it's not perfect and the inside isn't the cutest spa experience. read more

She did an amazing job! I usually like getting sculpted acrylics because I feel they look better. She used tips and omg they look like they are sculpted! She has been doing this for years and was very fast( about 50 minutes for a full set). Showed her a pinterest picture and wanted a natural color, she picked out to perfect natural nail colors immediately. Definitely found my nail person in the city. . read more

Small intimate spot in a high rise building. Very small but very cozy and clean. The ladies there were so friendly and funny. They waited for me and stayed late to finish my nails and make sure they were completely dried. They were fast and efficient. I visit SF a lot and never had a place to get my nails done but now I will be returning from now on read more

This was my first time coming to this salon and I was blown away! I've tried so many different salons, and I'd say this one is my favorite so far (: All of the staff was very friendly and accommodating with fitting me into their busy schedule. They helped me pick out the perfect color for my nails and did them perfectly! So impressed with their attention to detail and how gentle they were when cleaning my cuticles. 10/10 would recommend and I'm definitely coming back whenever I'm in town again! read more

They are SO amazing, flexible, and honestly have the coolest polishes and foils I have never been to such a friendly salon either ! It's so cute, cozy, and clean! I highly recommend . This place is just absolutely worth every bang of a college student's buck. I was nervous because I had never gotten my nails done in the city, and also because I wanted to take my acrylic powder nails off without damaging them. In the past, other nail salons would use a fake nail to literally peel the acrylic layer off, which would destroy my nails, but I expressed my concerns to Annie and she fully understood what I was asking her. She took her time to explain what she was going to do, and instead tried a different method to get rid of the powder residue, and it worked perfectly. They are absolutely friendly and speak English better than all of the nail salons that I have ever gone to. One thing that I really appreciated is that they did not push for me to do gel nails or a more expensive option. Prices were perfect, and I was so happy I found this place through yelp. I found Annie here on yelp. I was looking for a salon in the early evenings and was in dire need of a new acrylic set. She mentions that there aren't a lot of people who do acrylic anymore and more people are doing gel color on top of natural nails. It's kind of hard to find a salon in SF that does acrylic because it's old school, smelly, and the techs really need to understand liquid to powder ratio. The newer younger techs at other salons don't really know how to do this. Annie has been doing nails for over 20 years, long before I was even born. Annie is very talented. She understands what her client's need and want. If there is something she's unable to do because of the level of complexity she tells you straight up to your face instead of attempting to perform the task and it turning out like shit. I appreciate her up front honestly when it comes to intricate designs. Her prices are great! You're in Union square so you're not going to find better prices for the quality of service. I love how she is the only person here and she takes one client at a time. She understands that I'm very particular about my nails and makes extra time for me. I always make sure I to her 20%. read more

She cut me!!!! I was dripping blood all over my finger!!! and she still charged me full price $35. I also got a sloppy painting job. Look at the photos. My husband thought a child did it. I came based on the high yelp reviews. Never again will I come back. She nicked me and when I was bleeding, she blamed me for having small nails and thin skin. Are you serious?! she could not paint for cut my cuticles. worst job ever!!! read more

I love this place! I've been coming here regularly for the past 8 months, and from the moment I first walked in, I felt warmly welcomed. Annie and her team are kind and professional and most importantly -- consistent. I've included a few photos of different sets over the months that I've always walked out very happy with. First time to see Annie and she nailed it! She took me in for a walk in gel mani/regular pedi and stayed open late to finish it. I never get nail art but decided to on a whim. I showed her a reference pic, and she did such an amazing job! Super nice and you can tell she and her team care alot about their work. I expected it to be a lot more expensive considering the quality of her work, but even with the art it was cheaper than most places in SF. Highly recommend. read more

I believe it was like $45- BUT I got full set of nails -- not just manicure! Annie is great and has a cozy little shop-- very intimate so she really spends time getting to know her clients! Would DEFINITELY recommend!! I was just there in November…
