24hr after manicure chipping and smudging on four nails
    Patricia D.

Of the four times I've had a signature manicure here since the end of October, half of the time my manicure failed within hours of leaving the salon. Both times I had the same nail tech, June. Failure aside, both times the way she used the nail file on the *skin* around my nails and filed the nail extremely far down the sides was painful. She was also clipping at one of my nail quicks yesterday, which was also very unpleasant. The first time the manicure that she gave me failed was the day before Thanksgiving. I sat under the dryer for at least 30 minutes and my walk home took another 30 minutes. When I emailed the salon shortly thereafter as soon as I realized my nails had badly smudged and chipped, they offered to repair it the Saturday after the holiday, which I appreciated though I still felt embarrassed that my nails looked terrible when I had Thanksgiving dinner with my partner's family. I changed the brand of polish on the redo, thinking it was maybe just that brand. A different nail tech did the redo. In between then and yesterday, I had a signature pedicure that lasted almost 3 weeks with almost zero chipping. Yesterday, I selected one of the Lakur polishes, which has performed well in general on the two non-prematurely failed manicures I had here. I sat under the dryer for 45 minutes in an effort to avoid failure and I was very careful with my hands when I got home another 30 minutes later. I noticed at the four hour mark when I went to shower that my left pinky nail had already smudged very badly. Today, less than 24hr later, 8 of 10 nails have chipping of varying degrees. I noticed yesterday when June was finishing my nails that she wiped the edges with polish remover, as she had to clean up a bunch of spots she got on my skin. I suspect she took the edge of the polish and top coat off when she did that. Luckily I bought this polish color during Black Friday, so I can kind of fix it at home. I won't be going back. I emailed the salon yesterday as soon as I noticed the failure but didn't hear back. I really wanted to like this place and support a local business in my neighborhood, but I can't keep lighting $55 on fire.

I wish I lived in the Bay Area still so I could come here monthly! I booked the gel manicure and upgraded to the signature gel manicure when I arrived. I chose The Nail Hall because of their non-toxic, vegan polishes. The atmosphere is very chic and colorful and Jen, the owner, was there to greet me and help me get settled when I arrived. Everyone was very friendly, and I relaxed with a CBD kombucha while I got my manicure. I'm glad I did the signature treatment with the aromatherapy exfoliating scrub. The polish was high quality and did not chip until day 14! I'm looking forward to coming back the next time I visit.

I love the Nail Hall - the people, service, interiors, setup, non-toxic materials, everything. I haven't even come to the best part yet. They have alcohol on tap - wine, CBD kombucha, beer, and if you're craving something warm, they have hot tea too! I am a fan. They also offer subscription, and I am also hooked to that since it keeps me on a routine. The signature subscription basically is the cost of 2 signature manicures in a month, but big benefits of the subscription are you get 10% off on other services like pedicure, and that you get a free drink with each visit! Jen is lovely to talk to and I must compliment, has setup a great business model! The prices are higher than other salons but keep in mind that this is in the city, uses non-toxic products, and provide drinks - which no other nail salon does, so the higher price point is ok, especially if you live close by. I get regular manicure done and love the Nail paints and quality of Flora and J Hannah. The service is great, my favorite techs are Tram and Vicky, they take their time and do not hurry the process and are so nice to talk to. Highly recommend!

I had a great experience here, and I am piiiiiicky about my nails and need them to be done up for work. I got the gel mani with removal and simple nail art. My nail tech was Tram, who was pretty meticulous with my cuticles and shaping. I did jump in a few times to even out my shape but that's not anything abnormal for me! Cost for everything came out about $20-25 more than my typical spots, but for the vibe and non-toxic approach, esp being preggo rn, I thought it was worth it. As some other reviewers mentioned there aren't any soaking tubs or bowls even for the mani, but they do rely on some nice oils and products that do the job.

This nail shop has been a breath of fresh air since I discovered it a few months back. I have been coming regularly every two - three weeks for gel mani and pedicures. They use non toxic polish and the care taken is just so much more gentle than I have been used to at any other salon. It is a very great self care experience coming here.

I absolutely loved my experience. the gel mani came out 10/10! Unfortunately I snubbed my toe and messed up my pedi a couple of hours later ( wait like a whole day for it to really dry) but other than the dry, the pedi came out great too! They were very careful when taking my cuticles off which I always appreciate, and the staff were so nice! Making this my new nail spot! (100$ total)

My mom and I love this place! Nice ambiance - love the music and decor! Staff are suuuuperpleasant and helpful. Love the signature gel mani-pedi, really gives my tired tips and toes the pampering they need. AND My nails are impeccable for like a month! PS My mom and I got married more than a month apart, we both got our nails done here before our wedding, they gave us champagne as bridal freebies!

Gel manicure service and French Tip Application Add-On

Personally I would not spend my money in this nail salon again! I've tried The Nail Hall a few times, and with my first visit I was mostly attracted to the overall ambience of the salon which was calm, quiet, & aesthetically pleasing. It was a basic gel manicure which would be hard to mess up since me and my girls do each others gel manis with ease. I would NOT advise you to get gel removal here either, they only use filing and nail polish remover which means they have to harshly scrub and tug on your natural nails, when I came here for this service the nail tech broke the length of two of my nails which I just blamed on myself for not having tougher nails because I really wanted to like this place! I was never planning on getting gel removal here again because there's many other salons where I've gone that can do it without damaging your natural nails. Luckily they are gentle when prepping your nails for nail polish! This time, I asked for a gel manicure ($55) and french tip application ($15), this was the worst gel manicure and French tip I have ever received and I love getting my nails done! You can see my manicure in the images below, the pictures couldn't capture the edges that didn't even have the French application on them, the French tip is different and uneven on each nail, the French tip is bumpy on every nail, and lastly I had to ask the nail tech to fix the base because they were NOT bothering to paint the sides of my nails which I thankfully checked after the second base coat. They ended up adding uneven layers of polish on the two hands which left me with one hand that has a thicker and blotchier finish. I am extremely disappointed having payed $70 total for this Gel manicure that was NOT done well. I would expect for a nail salon whose whole gist is exclusively doing overpriced non toxic gel manicures to have skilled and competent nail techs that can and want to do a good job on a basic gel manicure on natural nails. Why offer customers to pay a 15 Add-On for French tip nails when you don't have nail techs that can actually do a proper French tip? (Btw I asked for square nails) (I also received a cup of water that had a weird oily-like residue sitting at the top, which I briefly tasted to check if it was lemon water but nope, it was probably residue from not washing the glass cups right).

Nice fashionable spa with nice furniture and fixtures everywhere. I booked a gel manicure with nail art. I Am very happy with the outcome but it seems the nail technicians are maybe not quite as comfortable with "inspo" based original nail art and would rather you just bring in a picture if exactly what you want. I brought pics of artwork that I wanted the nails based on and at first Vi wasn't sure about that but I explained a little more and gave examples about how exactly the nails should look so she agreed. Ultimately she did an awesome job and got in to the art as she saw it coming together so did take some artistic license towards the end which I appreciated.

I've been meaning to write this for a bit. I'm a nail biter and also pretty twitchy. This is why I literally never go to a nail salon. This place gave me my first ever salon gel manicure and ive worked with pretty much most of the nail techs. They are kind, meticulous and the vibes are serene. Highly recommend

This time, however, all I wanted was a builder gel fill but I left with two cut fingers and pure disappointment. I could tell that the woman doing my nails was shaving aggressively, but I figured she wanted to be quick & efficient. I didn't feel the cuts when they happened, otherwise I definitely would've said something about the pain. However, later in the process, I heard her say "oh" and I noticed that my left ring finger was ACTIVELY bleeding. Most frustratingly, she did not say sorry OR address the blood, rather, just started cleaning it like nothing happened. Then I looked at my right ring finger and saw cut skin there as well. I got light headed but couldn't muster up the courage to object. I shouldn't have to. The photos do not do it justice because as I mentioned, my left ring finger was BLEEDING down the nail. To make things worse, this nail technician was extremely rude and short. When I asked her if my left pinky nail could be shortened to match the length of my right pinky, she looked at it and didn't say a word. It wasn't until all the paint was finished that I then asked her again "can we please make this length match"? And she finally said she was going to, as if my question was an imposition. The audacity. At the end of the appointment, I still tipped (less than I normally do), regretfully-so. When I asked her if her name was one of the displayed venmo cards she said "no". Unfortunately, I do not have her name but she was on the younger side with glasses. I would not recommend unless you want to feel rushed, ignored, and even injured. I will not be going back to this salon.

I can tell it's well loved by the surrounding community because there were so many people who walked in and knew the staff by their first name. I walked here from the bus stop off Rhode Island and 16th. It was a short and pleasant 10min walk from where I started. It was flat until I passed by a Whole Foods when the journey was all uphill. Short of breath, I made it to the top of the hill and to my destination *phew. It was a nice quad and glute workout for sure. I was greeted by a friendly staff and led to a wall of nail polish (sometimes the choices are overwhelming). I chose a bright pink and sparkly OPI nail polish. It felt summery. I ended up feeling tense as I sat and eased my feet into warm water. Annie, my nail artist, told me to relax but my body wanted to do the opposite. I think I get tense when my toenails are being cut as if to anticipate pain, but when I felt comfortable with her technique, I started to relax. It was probably the most relaxed I've been all week. Annie was sweet and attentive. She also did a really good job removing my cuticles and massaging my calves. I needed it! It was a great way to end a stressful day at work. I would love to come back!

The technician clipped my cuticle too far, causing bleeding, and was very rough throughout the service -- especially while removing the builder gel and filing my nails. She also skipped steps that Andrew had previously done, which affected the overall quality. I clearly asked for a gel builder fill and to keep my length, but she began filing my nails down anyway. I had to repeat myself multiple times and eventually had to switch to Gel-X just to regain the length that was removed. There also seemed to be a language barrier. However, instead of asking a coworker for clarification, she continued with what she thought I said rather than confirming my request. I ultimately had to stop and ask another staff member walking by to help translate. Additionally, pricing was not transparent. The service is listed online as $70 for a gel builder fill, but I was charged $85. When I asked about it, I was told I had already been given a discount, which was confusing and not explained. This technician needs more professionalism and should be spoken to regarding both technique and customer care. Overall, this experience felt rushed and careless, which was very disappointing given how great my first visit was.
