This salon brings a pan to soak your feet in, & that's a surprise, but she's doing a fine job on my feet & has a nice personality. So, I'll probably come back here. The ladies at Gelous really used their down time, due to covid, to update the salon. New, super comfy massage chairs, lovely new blue paint, and more colors than ever. I visit about every 10 days to 2 weeks for gel manicures. Lana is awesome and always comes up with a funky design for me. No matter who does my nails I always feel pampered and well taken care of. There's a reason I've been going here for years. I typically go during the week before 3pm - I have a flexible schedule and know they can get busy. I don't think I have ever received a worse manicure in my life. It was my first time here and it is near where I live so I wanted to give a try. They don't have all of the gel manicure colors that other places offer, but I still wanted to give a try. After settling on a color. I sat back hoping for a relaxing/ pampering experience. The chair massage was so uncomfortable and when I asked if it could be adjusted I was told it could not. I asked for my toenails to be cut very short. They were cut a little bit and when I asked for more, they were filed a little but not really cut shorter. Unfortunately I noticed too late after the color was already applied. Also fun, my toenails were different lengths. The 2 big toes did not match. When I pointed this out to the nail tech, it was ignored. The cuticle scrub was barely anything and there was no additional pampering that other nearby salons offer for similar pricing. I got a gel on my fingers and after pointing out to the manicurist that my nails were different lengths she adjusted. I also noticed that the polish they were using was clumpy and did not have that luster that other gel polishes usually have. I asked about this and the manicurist moved it around a bit and said she fixed it. It still looked shitty. My gel manicure started to wear after 1 week. I paid extra so that the gel would last a bit longer and it started to chip off after a week. So I spent $85 for * uncomfortable chair * uneven nails * old/ bad quality and clumpy looking polish * Gel color chipping after 1 week * bad service and ignoring my requests. The people in the salon are nice but the manicure was so terrible I cannot go back. read more

This place is a real gem! I called in around 4PM and was able to get a same day appointment around 5:30. I came to get a pedicure and a gel removal. They were very thorough with the gel removal and cleaned everything up well! My pedicure also looked great. I came in with a bit of a sprained ankle but the ladies there were very gentle with my leg and made sure they weren't hurting it. The prices are also super reasonable! It was $25 for a pedi and $10 for gel removal, which is a lot better than other salons in the area. read more

The salon has 5 massage chairs that are fabulous and 3 wonderful technicians, They were bright and cheerful. Leg massages and basic foot scrub included. I was in Noe Valley and needed a mani pedi so I looked for suggested nail salons on Yelp. Yelp didn't lead me astray with Gelous Nails. You'll find it down a cute brick walkway set back a bit between two buildings. It was a sunny day so they left the door open and it was very pleasant, especially since I was in the chair next to the door (a prime spot) and the sun shone in (not too sunny, just cheerful). I got a regular mani pedi ($32 combo). I've been trying a lot of nail salons in different SF neighborhoods and I think this is now my favorite, for the price, customer service, and quality. I chose a red vinylux Polish and I think it turned out great. Two people worked on my nails at once. The massage chairs are probably the best I've experienced. They are new and the automatic massage is actually really nice, not the typical jolting type. There's an "airbag" on the seat that massages your bottom and there is a leg massage. While my nails were drying, the lady that did my manicure gave me an unexpected head and shoulder massage for almost 5 minutes and it was very relaxing and pleasant. $32 for a traditional mani-pedi, but they don't charge for extra CND Weekly Polish (other places I've been charge an extra $5 - which is crazy because you can buy a bottle for $6 on Amazon). That nail polish brand is great, much longer lasting than traditional nail polish - I have even purchased a bunch for myself at home. Cindy did my pedicure and Lana did my manicure. I was in and out in 52 minutes. My nails and toes looked great afterwards. The best part was the massage - Lana was an excellent masseuse and I got a 10 or 15 minute excellent head, neck, and back massage while my nails were drying. It was wonderful and totally unexpected! It's a very clean place. They wrap the pedicure bowls in a plastic liner that is changed for every guest. They have one-time-use-only nail files and buffers. From the great reviews, I expected better. I got a gel manicure and regular pedicure. The pedicure was fine. The gel manicure was a bit sloppy, and the polish didn't stay on very long. I noticed the nail tech skipped the application of primer before applying the gel polish, which is probably why it started peeling off so quickly. When I visit a salon for the first time, I let them do what they are going to do to see what their standards are. The gel was uneven, and didn't look great. I'm really happy to have met Lana at Gelous nails. I've been getting gel manicures with Lana about twice a month for several months now and I'm never disappointed. I always appreciate her mini massages while my my previously gel color is soaking off. I also enjoy the conversation I have with her as well. Lana is very sweet and extremely detailed oriented. After reading other people's reviews and they said this place was good, I thought I'd go try this place out, but I did not like my experience. I went with my friend and she too did not like her nails. It didn't last long enough for her to attend a wedding that was 2 days after. It started peeling because the lady that did her nails painted to close to her skin and it started to peel off so it looked like her nails had grown and the nail polish looked worn out like its been painted for days. Mine started looking like that after 4 days and we both got gel manicures. I would assume gel manicures would last about 2+ weeks which is what my friend and I needed because we were both going to go on a trip in a week. My nails did not look smooth. It looked like I did it myself, all choppy and uneven on the edges. It was easily seen because I chose white and there were 2 layers. My friend and I felt rushed. Our appointment was at 6pm and they close at 7pm. As I was getting my nails done, the lady that did my nails can tell I did not like the way she did my nails because I pointed out the flaws that I saw. Our services costed $30 for a gel manicure and $22 for a regular pedicure. I know others have gotten better services so they have good reviews, but I didn't so I am not going back and neither is my friend. At the end of my service, the lady that did my nails did try to make it up to me by giving me a neck massage and asked if I wanted a head massage.
