    Tiger nails! Rawr!
    Margaret I.

The ladies at Gelous really used their down time, due to covid, to update the salon. New, super comfy massage chairs, lovely new blue paint, and more colors than ever. I visit about every 10 days to 2 weeks for gel manicures. Lana is awesome and always comes up with a funky design for me. No matter who does my nails I always feel pampered and well taken care of. There's a reason I've been going here for years. I typically go during the week before 3pm - I have a flexible schedule and know they can get busy. I've never had to wait, and I'm usually the only person there. It's the most relaxing experience.

I only trust my manicurists back home, but since I moved to San Francisco a few months ago, it was time to find a new nail spot. The ladies were very welcoming while I got a pedicure. It was nice and my manicurist was sweet. Would definitely come back and recommend this place!

I've been coming here for years. The workers are super nice and do a great job. It's not a fancy place but the salon is always clean, the massage chairs are awesome, and the prices are reasonable. They have a full selection of OPI and Essie colors.

Enjoying the afternoon in good company with great service!

We made an appointment for 3 ladies to get mani Pedis, which is quite the request on short notice. They were able to accommodate our request with minimal wait time. The salon has 5 massage chairs that are fabulous and 3 wonderful technicians, They were bright and cheerful. Leg massages and basic foot scrub included. They removed old polish no problem and were very gentle- she didn't even mind my wiggle or twitch from being ticklish! Great polish selection both gel and regular polish. Prices were very reasonable and mani/pedi combos were too reasonable to get just one. Pros: Price, Atmosphere and Quality Cons: Small wait Overall: I will be back!

I was in Noe Valley and needed a mani pedi so I looked for suggested nail salons on Yelp. Yelp didn't lead me astray with Gelous Nails. You'll find it down a cute brick walkway set back a bit between two buildings. It was a sunny day so they left the door open and it was very pleasant, especially since I was in the chair next to the door (a prime spot) and the sun shone in (not too sunny, just cheerful). I got a regular mani pedi ($32 combo). I've been trying a lot of nail salons in different SF neighborhoods and I think this is now my favorite, for the price, customer service, and quality. I chose a red vinylux Polish and I think it turned out great. Two people worked on my nails at once. The massage chairs are probably the best I've experienced. They are new and the automatic massage is actually really nice, not the typical jolting type. There's an "airbag" on the seat that massages your bottom and there is a leg massage. While my nails were drying, the lady that did my manicure gave me an unexpected head and shoulder massage for almost 5 minutes and it was very relaxing and pleasant. My nails dried properly and despite many smudging opportunities and encounters later in the day, they stayed pristine!

Very nice manicure! CND vinylux weekly nail polish is no extra charge!!

$32 for a traditional mani-pedi, but they don't charge for extra CND Weekly Polish (other places I've been charge an extra $5 - which is crazy because you can buy a bottle for $6 on Amazon). That nail polish brand is great, much longer lasting than traditional nail polish - I have even purchased a bunch for myself at home. Cindy did my pedicure and Lana did my manicure. I was in and out in 52 minutes. My nails and toes looked great afterwards. The best part was the massage - Lana was an excellent masseuse and I got a 10 or 15 minute excellent head, neck, and back massage while my nails were drying. It was wonderful and totally unexpected! It's a very clean place. They wrap the pedicure bowls in a plastic liner that is changed for every guest. They have one-time-use-only nail files and buffers. It definitely seems like they care about keeping things immaculately clean. It's a small place, but I called ahead and was able to get an appointment when I wanted it. TIP in CASH ONLY.

    Cindy's AMAZING!

I must say that this place has a total gem working for them! CINDY has been doing my nails for 14 years and her work is outstanding!!! She REALLY takes pride in her work and it shows. She's very thorough. I'm the type where if there is something on my nail (like a bubble from nail polish or something) I'll play with it til I mess it up ... so she triple checks EVERYTHING cuz she knows I have bad habits lol This place is CLEAN and the massage chair was great, it put me to sleep and I didn't wake up till she was almost done with my pedicure. Her coworkers are nice and welcoming... this may have been my 1st visit ... but I know I will have many more ... can't wait!

Price up to $20 for regular manicure. Now they are no longer the cheapest, but on par with most.

I can bring in a vague idea or inspo pic and she somehow always executes it exactly how I imagined... if not better. Her skill set is super versatile, too, so whether I'm going simple or more detailed, chrome, 3D, fine lines, French tips... she can do it all and it always looks clean and intentional. She's also really efficient in the best way. Nothing ever feels rushed, but she works with a level of ease and confidence that makes the whole process feel seamless. And the durability is kind of unreal. I'm hard on my hands for my job and I've never had lifting, chipping, or breaks-- ever. That alone is rare, especially with this level of design. It's this mix of creativity and technical precision that's so hard to find, and why I keep coming back. So grateful to have found this spot... do yourself a favor, stop scrolling and BOOK IT!

This time, however, all I wanted was a builder gel fill but I left with two cut fingers and pure disappointment. I could tell that the woman doing my nails was shaving aggressively, but I figured she wanted to be quick & efficient. I didn't feel the cuts when they happened, otherwise I definitely would've said something about the pain. However, later in the process, I heard her say "oh" and I noticed that my left ring finger was ACTIVELY bleeding. Most frustratingly, she did not say sorry OR address the blood, rather, just started cleaning it like nothing happened. Then I looked at my right ring finger and saw cut skin there as well. I got light headed but couldn't muster up the courage to object. I shouldn't have to. The photos do not do it justice because as I mentioned, my left ring finger was BLEEDING down the nail. To make things worse, this nail technician was extremely rude and short. When I asked her if my left pinky nail could be shortened to match the length of my right pinky, she looked at it and didn't say a word. It wasn't until all the paint was finished that I then asked her again "can we please make this length match"? And she finally said she was going to, as if my question was an imposition. The audacity. At the end of the appointment, I still tipped (less than I normally do), regretfully-so. When I asked her if her name was one of the displayed venmo cards she said "no". Unfortunately, I do not have her name but she was on the younger side with glasses. I would not recommend unless you want to feel rushed, ignored, and even injured. I will not be going back to this salon.

It used to feel more upscale like a luxury salon they offered you a quality tea or a glass of wine or even water or whatever (which seems on par for the high price point) and the decor felt more upscale. Now it has kind of janky cheap IKEA fake plant vibes now and the salon really reeks and there is not even so much as a water cooler. I always get a headache coming out of there now, where as I used to love it when it felt so airy and breezy with the doors open and the city view ahead. I asked for the door to stay open recently and got a subtle eye roll because one of the nail technicians was cold. Come on, this is SF not Chicago in the dead of winter where you need to close the doors. No one wants cancer breathing all those chemicals! There is nowhere comfortable to sit if you are getting a manicure and no waiting area. I got a $5 dazzle dry extra charge on my last bill that no one warned me about until after. Hmmm. And having to pay the tip separately digitally is not a great look for a salon with luxury level prices. They need to streamline their process. There is a big sign that says no trying on nail polish but I guess if you're friends with Charlene you can break those rules - as I saw two women completely ignore the rules and start painting their own nails at the polish rack while chatting her up. lol. If you're not a regular there, you are treated politely (at least no one is openly talking about you in another language) but if you're a regular, you get this loud "hey girllll" type of greeting when you walk through the door which then makes everyone else feel a little weird. I could not relax the last time I was there because the music was so loud and I was stuck listening to an entire conversation of Charlene giving 'therapy' like platitudes to some bored whiny SF housewife - I felt like I was getting dumber by the minute listening to this and I should have brought my headphones or ear plugs for some peace and quiet. If the prices weren't so expensive then none of this would be an issue. When I am paying $60 for a manicure, I expect a good massage and the extras that come with that price point. LPNS is overall trying to be friendly and give quality work so that is why I give it 3 stars instead of less. But, truthfully, I miss the way it used to be and am looking for a similar place on this side of SF - a luxury comfortable nail salon. Someone message me if you know of a luxury nail salon where everyone is treated the same when they walk through the door!

The technician clipped my cuticle too far, causing bleeding, and was very rough throughout the service -- especially while removing the builder gel and filing my nails. She also skipped steps that Andrew had previously done, which affected the overall quality. I clearly asked for a gel builder fill and to keep my length, but she began filing my nails down anyway. I had to repeat myself multiple times and eventually had to switch to Gel-X just to regain the length that was removed. There also seemed to be a language barrier. However, instead of asking a coworker for clarification, she continued with what she thought I said rather than confirming my request. I ultimately had to stop and ask another staff member walking by to help translate. Additionally, pricing was not transparent. The service is listed online as $70 for a gel builder fill, but I was charged $85. When I asked about it, I was told I had already been given a discount, which was confusing and not explained. This technician needs more professionalism and should be spoken to regarding both technique and customer care. Overall, this experience felt rushed and careless, which was very disappointing given how great my first visit was.
