All the ladies at Q Spa are wonderful but I've built a relationship with Chelsea who helped me nurse my nails back from stressed nail beds and cuticle care. Chelsea spends so much care and time in prepping my nails and it makes an incredible difference lasting longer to 3 weeks without tearing or peeling! I love that she's honest and tells me what gels work best for my nail type - she prepped me for a cat eye gel manicure and gel pedicure for my Hawaii holiday. Kayla did a great job on my dip nails with tips. She was very gentle on my nails and I will be back. She can do dip, Gel X and hard gel also. Made an appointment for a Tuesday at 11 and it took about 1.5 hours. Thanks Kayla. Update: I went back to file my nails shorter as after a few days I realized they were too long to be functional at work. It took about 20 mins and I was charged $25, which I was quite surprised by. I wish I filed it at home. read more

Came here on a Friday afternoon with a friend. Be sure to make a reservation because they are BUSY! They have a pretty quick turnaround so they're able to see a lot of people and accept last minute reservations. They have a great color selection and are able to do fun designs. Docking a star only because I wish the hand and foot massage better since it was pretty minimal. I would have appreciated a better massage because they barely did much. However they did include a hot stone which was nice. Also I felt the chairs for the manicure area were not super comfortable. In summary, I would come back since they were nice ladies and had a great selection of color for nails. read more

This glowing review is LONG overdue. Ever since coming here the first time (years ago at this point?), I can't even imagine going anywhere else. They have done such a great job keeping my nails beautiful and healthy. Kayla and Kate are both so so so good at what they do. I am and always have been insufferably particular about my nails. Historically, getting my nails done has led to nothing but a string of traumatic experiences. So glad I found this place. I've never once left here bleeding or feeling embarrassed about how my nails look. Kayla always gives me exactly what I'm looking for - the perfect gel mani. Nicely shaped, natural length preserved, not goopy/chunky, and color matched exactly every time. They are great about being able to replicate reference photos exactly. If I have an afternoon to spare, I'll get a pedicure done here too. Kate is the best at nail art, so I like to have her do my French tip painting and/or pedicures. If you want to get both a mani and pedi, make sure to allot at least three hours here. They really take their time making things perfect. The only downside about coming here is you need to give them time to be meticulous. There's not typically a wait, but I would still highly suggest an appointment if you want a specific technician. A small place, but housing quite a bit of talent. I'll continue to frequent here for years to come. Much love to this very special team! read more

I'm not usually a nail person because having fake nails is super impractical for me. Like it takes a lot for me to want to go into a salon rather than doing it myself. But since I hadn't come in a really long time, and my cuticles were overgrown. I could wait no longer. Booking an appointment is very convenient online. I was able to book the day before which was nice. Parking is a pain though, I was circling for 15 min trying to find a nearby spot. From when I sat down til when I left was about an hour for both a basic mani and pedi. They did a good job. Pro tip: Bring cash for tip. read more

Their page says nail polish change is $18, I booked it online and selected the gel option. After they did it, they charged $50. I told them that I booked polish change and they wrote in hand the new price. I paid the $50 but I feel cheated. Never coming back. read more

I made a 2:30 pm reservation for a manicure using the on-line reservation that no one at Q Spa seems to pay any attention to. When I arrived on time, I said I had a reservation and was told to pick a nail color and sit. 10 minutes later, I'm told that the wait is 20 minutes. The manicurist checked with the boss when I reminded her about my reservation. Boss: "20 minutes ." Needless to say, if I'd had 30 minutes to sit around in a nail salon I wouldn't have made a reservation. Fortunately there are plenty of nail salons around so I'm not limited to one that provides poor customer service. read more

I used to really like this place and it was my first time going since the pandemic. I called and asked for an appointment for a mani and pedi. Then I had to wait in the chair and about 4 different people would start and stop working on my nails. The pedicure was not very good I had to ask for help to at least get a basic pumice stone rub which I can do myself better in 5 minutes. Also now my toe has an indentation because they didn't seem to know how to do it. The nails are too short and they forgot top coat until the mani. Also they wanted to do the mani on the chair at the same time as the pedi. It is obvious that this salon takes as many clients as possible and rushes and over works their staff. I felt bad for the people working there. It felt like being in a factory. I understand times are hard but please find a balance so that everyone can have a better experience. When I said I felt more comfortable doing the mani at the table I had to wait a while. Then I finally got to sit down. I could barely get out of the seat because the seats were so crowded together. My jacket was covered in the nail polish and nails of the customers in either side of me having their gel removed. At that point it was 2 hours. Then my nail polish needed to be redone on one nail and at this point I said please redo it it's been two hours I was polite the entire time but at this point I was exhausted. Also the chairs were worn since I last went and less quality polish than the past but still ok selection. My cuticles also hurt. I hope that they get better about managing their appointments and walk ins. There's no need for someone with an appointment with a basic mani pedi to stay in a nail salon for 2 hours. Especially when it costs $60. It is one thing if you are taking 2 hours to actually do a good job and work on a client. It is a different story if a client is at the salon for 2 hours but rushed and only gets about 30 minutes of service. Also the person who did my mani was a bit rude at the end so I left even though my mani got dinged. I left feeling exhausted and upset. If you go here don't expect a salon type atmosphere and budget a lot of time. All this said they do require masks which I appreciate and there was a girl working there who was polite and helpful. I hope this feedback helps this salon to go back to the quality it used to be. read more

Absolutely beautiful interior with the light wood beams and white textured walls, it really does feel like a spa. The techs are extremely talented and quick. My friend and I made reservations twenty minutes in advance and they had four people ready by the time we got there--they were able to do our gel manis and pedis at the same time and had us out in time for dinner. Very gentle work, I didn't bleed or feel and pain at all. They also did such a good job with my short nails, something that most salons struggle with. Kate does the nail art and she's got the steadiest hands for those tiny designs. She's happy to take instructions but will also pick something for you that suits your nail shape, if you're indecisive. Overall, great prices too. For less than many other salons in the area and beyond, Q spa offers quality and consistency as well as creativity at a level way above the rest. I'll be back to see the wonderful staff and zen ambience soon! read more

Wanted to like this place since the Steiner location is amazing but this spot fell way short: Sloppy pedicure. Didn't pumice or file my nails properly. When I told my nail tech I didn't like the shape she ignored me. I had to go home and reshape my nails my self. The lack of service and indifference is appalling. It felt like they just wanted to churn people in and out quickly. I will not be back. read more

This is by far my favorite nail salon in San Francisco. The entire staff is always so friendly and the environment is clean and comfortable. They truly do an amazing job with the highest quality - my gel manicures last three full weeks and still look amazing. I really wanted to like this place based on reviews but I regret coming here. I came in at 5pm for a walk in dip manicure + gel pedicure. I was pleased to hear that they would take me in... should have been a red flag for me because during my 2.5 hour stay the lady who I assumed to be the owner kept accepting walk ins and phone calls the whole time and seemed to be rushing everyone's experience. What is normally a 1 hour process was 2.5 hours for me which was a waste of time. I came in with my natural nails with dip on top and asked for them to be just a little shorter. I posted a picture for reference (took this in the shop) and the owner started clipping away at my nails in a hurry while greedily trying to say yes to all the people walking in. Clearly not paying attention to her work. I then was switched to a different lady and she even looked at my hands and said what happened this is too short because I was explaining I wanted to keep the same shape I came in and was clearly upset. She tried to fix the situation by adding a tip to the pinky... but as you can see from the photo none of my nails are the same length or shape. I take great pride and care of my nails and they ruined them! Also, this is the most I've ever paid for a simple dip manicure. They charged $70 for dip and $25 for the hearts. I should of trusted my gut instinct after sitting in the chair and left but now I'm stuck with nails I don't like when I was hoping for just a simple cute valentine nail set. You know it's bad when your coworkers, cousins and bf ask what happened to your nails?! And not in a wow they look great matter, but instead how did you mess them up! read more

I usually don't like writing negative reviews, but i'm honestly sad and disappointed with the quality of my nails, especially since I paid $80 for these, and I was in the chair for 1.5hrs!! (gel mani only & was an extra $30 for design) As you can see the heart design came out wonky and weird...the nail tech lady had already started half of my nails before starting the heart design, so I felt bad if I would have walked out by then, and i gave her a shot...wrong decision, now i have to live with these for weeks, since they were pricey. If you want a "complex" design, I do NOT recommend this place. I think they need to be transparent about what they can and cannot do (regarding design). DO NOT TAKE A CLIENT IF YOU CANNOT DO THE WORK PROPERLY!! I really wanted to like this place based on the reviews I saw, but I won't be coming back. read more

I absolutely love Q Spa. It is my go-to for all things nails, especially nail art! Kate is simply the best! I get compliments on my nails all the time! Kate is a great creative partner if you have a bunch of nail art ideas that need to be narrowed down. She is so patient with me when I come in with a bunch of ideas on a Pinterest board, and helps me make a decision with on-point suggestions for what will look good. Sometimes I'll bring a shirt or dress I want to match the color of and she is always spot on. I have been doing dip extensions with Kate for a few months and I absolutely love her incredibly close attention to detail. She'll file my nails to perfection and make the extensions look as subtle as possible. Finally, it's not just Kate - the whole staff is extremely friendly, detail-oriented and always makes me feel comfortable. The space has really cute minimal design and is always clean. Adding photos going back to early spring. Can't recommend Q Spa, Kate and the entire team enough! read more

My girl Kate is the absolute champ of stiletto or "cat" nails!! Absolutely beautiful work, extremely thorough and perfectionistic. This was done with hard gel over my own nails (no acrylic here, which is great). If you need your nails to grow out, they do have soft gels that they can use first until your natural nails are ready and that's what I've been doing. The shop itself has TONS of colors, is always clean, the women are all super nice and friendly, and the prices are very reasonable for SF. Highly, highly recommend this shop, and Kate is the only one I'll let do my nails. I won't go anywhere else for a pedicure either, tbh read more

I've gone here a handful of times hoping that it was just a fluke that the mani never lasts but here I am finally compelled to write a review. Got a gel mani and it chipped/popped at corners within a day. I have my own gel light at home so I re-cured two of my nails with a top coat as soon as I saw it popping off, but one day later while on vacation, another nail popped off at the corner. Booked 3 manicures (1 gel, 1 gel nail art, 1 regular) and we all really enjoyed our experience here! There are many nail technicians here, so service is really fast, even if your request is more complicated. The attention to detail at this salon is also way higher than that of other places I've been to in the city. I had requested a nail design, and they showed a lot of care getting the design right, even if I said it was okay that it wasn't completely matching the photo I showed. I could tell that they cared about what they were drawing and it turned out to be a real work of art :) they also shaped my nails so beautifully--the best I've ever had done! The salon is clean and each person gets their own prepacked set of tools to prevent contamination. I would definitely come back again since it's close to where I live and prices are relatively reasonable. read more

It was my first time at Q Spa. I decided to check this place out before meeting my friend for dinner. Divisadero is known for their bars and restaurants so I was surprised to find this gem right down the street from some of my favorite places to eat! I called ahead just to make sure they can accommodate me and I was asked to come in right away. When I arrived, it was busy but Kate greeted me and got me started. She asked me to pick my colors. Once I did, she got started on my nails right away. She was very attentive and asked me questions to make sure I was receiving what I wanted since it was my first time there. The outcome was perfect! I really loved the colors I picked and I couldn't wait to show it off! Even some of the employees came by to admire the finished work. My gel manicure was done perfectly in a timely manner and I was excited to meet my friend for dinner to show it off to him! I'm so happy I found this gem in this neighborhood! Best salon experience I've ever had thus far! I went in on a Saturday afternoon and was greeted by Kate even though she was working on another customer. She was very polite and worked on my nubs (I swear my nails were soooo short) while maintaining light conversation. I showed her an image of what I wanted and she gave me her version of it, which I'm obsessed with. Even with my small nails she turned them into works of art. I promised her a photo and I apologize I waited so long!! I also don't know how to take manicure photos :( Overall, great salon and their employees were very attentive to the people walking in the door. Through all the changes, my rating and loyalty remains. I can even walk across the street from where I currently live to get waxed instead of driving across the Bay Bridge and halfway across the city to get to Victoria's, but I still prefer Dao! Dao's efficiency, excellent work, affordable prices, and sweet, chatty demeanor keep me coming back. Although my first Brazilian electrolysis session was over 7 years ago, I have only booked/been able to tolerate 30 minute sessions, 1-3x per year. Certain areas of the body have more stubborn hair that requires more sessions, and Dao is very upfront about all of this. A few weeks after each session I notice less and less hair regrowing; there are certain areas where hair has never come back, and the areas that she continues to work on gets smaller and smaller. I look forward to my next session with Dao and I'm thinking I will ask her health/beauty tips, because she doesn't look a day older than the first day I met her!
