Best salon experience I've ever had thus far! I went in on a Saturday afternoon and was greeted by Kate even though she was working on another customer. She was very polite and worked on my nubs (I swear my nails were soooo short) while maintaining light conversation. I showed her an image of what I wanted and she gave me her version of it, which I'm obsessed with. Even with my small nails she turned them into works of art. I promised her a photo and I apologize I waited so long!! I also don't know how to take manicure photos :( Overall, great salon and their employees were very attentive to the people walking in the door. First timer here! Honestly I'm pretty disappointed. I was excited to get my mani and pedi done since I hadn't gotten them done in a really long time. I left feeling bummed out cause now I have to find someone to re-do my nails completely before my wedding this weekend. Service was okay. Everyone seemed to be in a rush and looked annoyed when I came in with a nail art design (I had already booked an appointment and specified the details before hand). I should have done research from my part because they don't do acrylic nails. The nail design that I chose would have definitely looked better if my natural nails were longer during my visit. They have increased their prices...I get it! Pandemic times are rough but you should get what you pay for. My mani was rushed, cuticles left over and broken skin from poor cuticle removing technique and my pedicure was lackluster to say the least. I wanted to get a basic mani/pedi from a salon that was rated healthy by SF Environment. That means the salon uses less toxic products, has better ventilation, and undergoes safer practices. I chose Q Spa because it was on my way home, near the bus I take, and because a Yelper posted a brand of polish this spa uses that doesn't contain formaldehyde. It was also easy to make an appointment through Yelp. One thing I need to point out is that they've increased their prices. The pictures here on Yelp that contain their services is outdated. The price increase became effective on October 1. Also, they have a plaque from SF Environment dates 2016, and they're still listed on their website. The first thing I noticed is that this salon is clean. They even have a sign as to how they clean the pedi stations. It's also a small salon. I got the basic mani/pedi, and the woman who was cutting my nails was close to another customer. Well, one my nails flew to that customer. I would be a little grossed out if someone's nail flew at me, but considering how close the chairs are, incidents like this will happen. The basic pedi includes a hot stone massage. I wish the woman who did my pedi was more firm with her massage. It was okay, sort of relaxing. My hand massage was better. The woman who did my nails kept answering her cell phone. She even had the other woman take it from her ear and put it in her pocket when she was done. Now, this didn't affect my rating. I expect a minimum amount of professionalism at these places. I didn't see this here, but I do see customers on their phones at salons which I also think is rude, unless it's an emergency. I'm going to give her the benefit of doubt that the phone calls she received are important. For the most part, the staff is nice and competent. Once my nails were done, they placed fans on them to dry. They didn't rush me out, even when walk-ins were coming and they were closing in about an hour. So I appreciate that. My basic mani/pedi was $55. Because I paid with cash, I received a 10% discount. As I'm looking at my manicure, I can see that my left pinky nail could've used one more coat. I think this is the way my nail was filed, but the polish didn't reach the top of my nails. It's a minute detail. And honestly, I can't say I can do better. I'm a clumsy person, which is why I don't do my own nails. And it's also why I don't get them done often. I'm going to Vegas this weekend, so I thought I'd get them done to look nice. But $55, or in my case $50, is a bit on the pricey side. I get things are getting more expensive, especially in San Francisco. So I don't know if I'd come back here again. There are other salons listed in SF Environment that have a lower price, with good reviews on Yelp. But I'm not sure if they carry formaldehyde-free polish like Q Spa. I'd have to do more research, but I will keep this salon in mind in the future. read more

I hate writing bad reviews but this place was really dirty. The foot tub was gross, and the ladies were defensive when I asked them to clean it after I saw floating dirt and hair in the water. There were left over nail clippings from former customers sitting on the tables. They didn't clean the foot tubs between customers either. Additionally, there was trash on the floor and a dirty rag sitting on the floor of the entrance for the entire 1.5 hours we were there. I feel gross walking out. They charged the same price for myself (gel nails) and my fiancé (just a cut with no color). ?! I do not recommend this place. Q Spa has great service and they work fast and do a consistently amazing job! I asked for a French ombré design and brought in a screenshot from Pinterest of what I wanted, and the ladies executed it perfectly and they turned out great! They also always check in with you every step of the way to make sure it's to your liking. When I asked them to file the shape slightly differently, or to fix certain things, they would do so with no problem and always prioritized the customer. I was horrified to find out that they were doing construction outside Q spa when I arrived for my pedicure. There goes my quiet time ... The ladies who received me were super apologetic, but it is what it is. Lily was my technician and she gave me the whole shebang: filing only as requested, buffing, cleaning my cuticles, a firm massage with hot stones (aahhh) and a warm towel to finish it off before putting on OPI's bright orangey-pink nail polish which immediately banishes winter gray blues! All for $30, a bit pricier than the other nail salons, but the customer service here is better. Online booking via Yelp is quite easy too. The staff tried so hard to keep me distracted with plenty of gossip mags and a hot Jasmine green tea from the constant drilling outside. The massage chair is great! although, you'll have to get rid of all the throw pillows to take advantage of it. Fellow clientele were respectful and kept chatter to a minimum which I appreciated since the space is small and even though the ceilings are high, voices carry over. Even with the space restrictions, they manage to offer about a hundred or so nail polish colors with brands such as Essie, OPI, Chanel, etc. I could easily see visiting Q spa whenever I'm in the area. With Bi-Rite market, Nopa, Souvla and Popeye's chicken (!) nearby, it's a win win! read more

Customer service & quality: 5/5 Cost: $40 gel mani + $10 acrylic removal I made a very last minute appointment, more like a walk-in, since I wanted to get my nails done before I left town for thanksgiving. It was 4:30 pm on a Monday, and it was already fairly busy. I was also in a rush and only had an hour to spare. At one point, there were two ladies working on my nails to meet my time crunch. So considerate of them. Even though this took a little longer than usual, they still got me out of those doors by the time I had to go. I was bummed that they didn't work with acrylics, which is what I've had in the past years. Decided I should change it up and go back to having just gel polish on my natural nails. I was not disappointed one bit. Linda did amazing! First of all, she was so nice and gentle with my nails. She's also so detail-oriented and made sure the shape of my nails is consistent throughout and practically suited to what I wanted. Since I was going for a more natural look, I went with a light pink color. Most of the time, I always have issues with nail technicians not pushing the polish all the way to my cuticles. Kate wasn't sure if she could do the clouds but was down to try. LOOK AT THE CLOUDS. They're fluffy, they have a light fade to them. And all this is GEL. She totally nailed it. I've said this before and I'll say it again - Q Spa is not the cheapest option by far, but for consistent quality, lovely atmosphere, and talented, hardworking technicians, I say the price is worth it. Everyone is super nice and the product quality is high, materials and bowls super clean. I hardly ever have to wait, but there always seems to be a steady hum of traffic. It's also in a great location, near groceries and restaurants. I suggest calling ahead if you need nail art, though usually someone is there should you get a wild idea after you arrive. Checked out this spa on after reading some Yelp reviews and I'm really glad I ended up coming. I got a colorful French tip gel manicure by Kate. She did an incredible job with detailing including the cuticles and the nail polish itself. I believe the gel was about $40 and the design was $25 extra. Called in to make the appointment for a friend and myself for mani, pedi and wax on Friday for Saturday's appointment. There were multiple time to choose from. Seems like the appointment is quite easy to get. Friend and I were 10ish mins late for the appointment on the day. when we getting in, all the pedi seats were taken. The front desk lady, who seems like the owner, told us to pick the color for pedi first before getting seated. I picked then asked the lady if the color I picked looks like the color on the picture im showing her (can only see the color from outside the bottle), she's like yeah yeah. Then I asked if I could use two colors for pedi, she started talking something else and no matter what I asked, shes always like yeah or not listening at all. Then she throw a basket full of sample colors on a chair and told me to choose color again. LoL. After picking the color and waited another 5 mins for a seat and finally got seated, it's 20 mins after getting there. when I just seated, the lady came over and asked if I have picked manicure color. I said "no, you said to pick pedi color, but I basically wanted the same color for mani but in gel". She's like the one you picked is not gel and she's been super impatient and said "you should pick your manicure color". I think she was about to asked me to stand up and find the manicure color at that point. I couldn't stand the lady's attitude anymore and told my fiend, who just started pedi and seated next to me, in Chinese that I think I'm gonna give her a bad review. I think the lady maybe understand Chinese and her attitude turned 180. She's like "oh seat, we are here to help, I can pick your manicure color". Then she brought the color and let me try. During my pedi and mani, she constantly came to check and told the technicians what to do but at the same time peaking my phone to see if I'm writing the review. During waiting for waxing, there's another girl who can't stand the lady's attitude, putting the nail polish away and started leaving. The lady was yelling to her, don't go we are ready to serve you. The girl said no it's ok and left. This store is on a busy street so it got a lot of business. Saturday afternoon was quite busy. Even though it says walk in are welcome but couple walk-ins were asked to come back 10 mins later. the owner's attitude is pretty strong and she just want more business and rush people to do everything. I left 3 star because the pedicure technician was super nice also provided some suggestions for the design. also the wax lady was super nice. And outcome was ok even though the color wasn't really the same with picture. Otherwise I would leave this store immediately. Hope those technicians got treated good otherwise they deserve a better place to work. For the four nails that got poka dots design charged $12 additional on top of the gel. I'm visiting SF from LA and had some time to kill so I decided to drop by for a gel mani. I walked in on a Weds afternoon, around 4pm and I was the only customer there, which was really nice. I was greeted right away by the lady at the front and a different girl came down shortly to assist me while I was choosing my color. Sinh helped me with my mani and she was one of the best technicians I've had do my nails. And I get my nails done quite frequently. I couldn't find the exact color I wanted since they had sooooo many choices, but I described what I wanted and she pulled out 3 options for me, which I really appreciated. So I was able to choose the perfect milky nude. Sinh really took her time checking to make sure the length of my nails were even, and also asked me to double check the shape and length. This gained MAJOR bonus points in my book because it's my biggest pet peeve when they don't ask and cut my nails at different lengths. I'm super picky about my nails. Sinh did a wonderful job making sure there were no bubbles, no hangnails, and taking great care with every detail. She was also really gentle with my cuticles and didn't make me bleed. Another bonus since I have really sensitive cuticles and some techs can be extra rough. None of that here, which was awesome. I requested 3 coats of polish since it's quite a nude color and she agreed. She also gave me 2 coats of topcoat and gave me a nice hand massage with lotion, which I loved. Overall, I had a really great experience here and would highly recommend this salon to anyone who's in town. I'm a heat-seeking, Yelp missile when it comes to spotting new businesses on my circuit - and that goes double for beauty places. I was on the 21-Hayes last Sunday when my eagle eye zoomed onto this new salon, open for only two weeks. Out whipped my iPhone and the handy Yelp app to bookmark this new business in my longtime 'hood. I'm a spa-parazzi, what can I say? Eight short days after bookmarking on Yelp, I made an appointment for a mani-pedi and eyebrow wax at Q Spa. It was my post Mother's Day gift to myself. And oh my gosh. I feel bad for any nearby nail salons (unless they do acrylics which Q Spa, thankfully, does *not*): They will not be able to compete. No neighborhood nail salon can compare with this beautiful, modern, minimalist oasis, especially since Q Spa's services are just a few dollars more and the salon is so, so CLEAN and posh. First, I had my crazy eyebrows tamed by brow expert Linda. While I have thick eyebrows that are (currently) very fashionable and many women would kill for, they are a pain to tame. My eyebrows are out of control and they need constant pruning like a bonsai tree, I joke you not. So brow expert Linda led me to the back room, dramatically draped in dark grey fabric panels offset by an immaculate white table covered in crisp linens and bright estheticians' lamp. I not only left with perfectly arched, even brows thanks to Linda's deft work-she was expert at placing the wax and she barely had to (painlessly) tweeze- but she also added a stress-relieving acupressure mini massage around my eyes, forehead and jaw. And between Linda's technique and their special wax, my skin didn't redden even immediately after waxing. The mani-pedi was expert and quick, incorporating a nice, lemony scrub and foot pumice with delightful leg and foot massage using hot stones. The pedi station was all-porcelain and uber clean. Your fear of nail infection, especially with their individually disinfected and wrapped tools, will be allayed. Regular mani/pedi and brow wax was $75 including a 20% tip. They guarantee their polish for 7 days and do touch-ups for free. An extensive array of OPI and Essie colors plus phthalate and formaldehyde-free Zoya, Butter brand polish (and soon-to-come CHANEL). I absolutely loved the Q Spa experience! I came here with two friends (we all got gel manis, two of us got gel pedis, and then one reg pedi). We were in and out in under 1.5 hours. The salon was clean and spacious. The staff was friendly, attentive, and VERY thorough. They helped advise on which colors would look best and what solids worked to match the glitter I was wanting! They listened to my tedious requests to ensure all nails had the same shape and length. They were also very meticulous about making sure there were no bumps or bubbles in my nails - my biggest pet peeve! The price point is very comparable, but can seem a bit pricey. I've had a few manicures and pedicures done here, gel and regular polish, and have always had a good experience and been very happy with the quality of their work and friendly service. They are fast, careful, and clean. They thoroughly scrub the pedicure basins and they sterilize their manicure equipment. The hot stone massage that comes with the pedicure is very brief, I wish it were longer and wish they got the stones hotter, but it's still a nice touch. Another additional nicety would be some soothing essential oils added to the pedicure foot bath. Lavender or eucalyptus or CBD oil would be Today I got some nail art done by Kate, and it turned out great. Straight and evenly spaced lines, all done by hand without any guides or tape.
