The Ritual Signature - a bit dry
    Michael P.

First visit to Ritual Cafe. I'll start by saying I'd go back. It's a modest space, very casual, not trying to do too much. You wouldn't feel out of place here whether you're in some scrubby clothes, dressed business casual to head to work, or whatever in between. The service was friendly and quick. I ordered the signature Sandwich because, it felt fitting for our first stop here. I expected a bit more. The chicken cutlet was very well executed. Juicy, crisp and a great portion for the sandwich. Overall it felt dry to me, though. My wife got the breakfast blt and that had a mayo slapped on the toast, it would have rounded out the signature Sandwich wonderfully and made it next level. Consider asking for this as an add on. Other than the fact that it's a deep fried chicken cutlet, it's a pretty protein packed and hearty sandwich for breakfast that doesn't feel too heavy since the Kaiser roll is lighter than you'd get with a bagel- however, it was still sturdy enough to keep everything in the form of a sandwich and not a fork and knife dish. The cookie, well that's a different story. The chocolate chunk one tasted like cardboard. Not sure if they use lard or shortening in their cookies vs butter? But whatever they do, it's evident in the flavor that the ingredients aren't quality or the cookie was well past it's prime. I'd come back for another sandwich or maybe the breakfast burritos. The iced coffee I got was as expected, solid but nothing noteworthy.

I would say the experience was neutral. Nothing stand out but also nothing bad. I would come back and try something new. I was a bit disappointed because I saw in a previous review someone came and did work at the cafe. I tried to do the safe but a really nice worker told me they didn't have WiFi for patrons. I ate inside but ultimately left when I was done.

Iced Maple and Brown Sugar Latte

You might miss Ritual Cafe if you were driving by because the building blends in almost seamlessly with the neighboring houses. But this is part of what gives it that small, local business feel. And the steady stream of customers is a testament to the tasty offerings you'll find here. The cashier who took my order was very friendly and patient as I browsed the menu written on the wall. I decided on the Breakfast BLT and an iced maple brown sugar latte, and I split a chocolate chip cookie with my husband. The BLT was very good! It was moist, the toast was crisp, and the sandwich held together well. There was a nice butty tasty from the griddled bread and a richness from the mayo, but was balanced nicely by the freshness of the arugula and thick tomato slice. The latte was good/fine. It was a bit too light and milky, but I enjoyed the flavor. I asked for it less sweet, and that was a good level for me. I also appreciate that they use real maple syrup and brown sugar instead of a flavor syrup. The cookie, however, was a flop. To put it simply, it tasted like cardboard. It was dry and not at all the buttery, soft yet crispy chocolate chip cookie I was expecting. Another downside for me about Ritual is the ambiance as there really wasn't any. The peeling leather seats were the most unappealing aspects. They did have some cool art on the wall, but the pieces felt disjointed from the rest of the drab interior. That being said, I do think Ritual Cafe is serving up some solid breakfast sandwiches and their coffee gets the job done. It's an easy stop to make if you wanted to grab and order to go, and, for the most part, you won't be disappointed!

It's always a good day for Ritual Cafe! I usually stop in for a breakfast sandwich - the Ritual signature is my favorite, especially if you add arugula and chipotle aioli. Perfection! No wonder they won the best breakfast sandwich in RI with that beauty. They are very efficient, especially if you can order ahead. I also love their paintings inside the restaurant - very fun and makes the indoor space more welcoming.

When a cafe has a solid variety of breakfast options and specialty lattes... I'm in! I've only been to Ritual twice because it's a bit out of the way for me but whenever I'm in the area, this will definitely be my go-to. Delicious coffee, sandwiches, and cookies. Ritual is a cozy cafe with plenty of seating, art on the wall, and a restroom for customers. The service is very patient and friendly.

Went to this cafe and tried Reuben's Cousin Paul Sandwich. It was delicious and flavorful, the egg and pastrami were a good combo. Service was fast and friendly. There wasn't much of a sitting area, meant for grab and go. Come back again if I am in the area.

Small breakfast/lunch shop in Warwick. Amazing food, high quality ingredients, and very friendly staff! This shop is a most stop for bfast or lunch! The chicken cutlet is one of the best I've ever had! Super crispy yet still juicy chicken. The bun was nice and toasty with a generous amount of crispy bacon! Come check out this place for one or the best breakfast shops in New England!

Their iced coffee was absolutely delicious. I was pleasantly surprised by just how good it was. The place was packed with people happily having lunch and working. Menu items looked great.

Stop #12 on RI FOOD FIGHTS First Inaugural Search for the Best Breakfast Sandwich!!! The Sandwich chosen for the competition is the The Ritual Signature...a jumbo egg, bacon, cheese & a fried chicken cutlet on a poppy kaiser roll (if that doesn't float your boat, any sandwich can be ordered...but why not try the Signature?! It was amazing! I ordered with Swiss Cheese and I also got a Knead Gingerbread Donut (they're everywhere!)...be back to try other item options!

This is definitely a hidden gem. They had the best rueben I've had in a long time, and the iced latte was on point. There are a few coffee shops in the area, but this one takes the cake! Service was very friendly and helpful. Seating is comfy and decor is adorable!

This is easily the BEST breakfast sandwich place in Rhode Island. I am from Long Island, New York and since moving here, I haven't been able to find anything remotely close to the classic "bacon egg and cheese salt pepper ketchup" sandwiches I am used to. For some reason, most places microwave the eggs and use English muffins, not ritual! They are the real deal with kaiser rolls and bagels that don't taste like plastic. I went in for the signature but got the Reuben's cousin Paul's sandwich. It was so good. I am excited to go back. I also got a chocolate raspberry latte and a French Vanilla iced coffee, both were good. At many coffee places either they have good food OR they have good coffee but one is lacking, Ritual was amazing all around. Staff was also friendly! - I hope they open another location near Coventry because I am obsessed.

Upon arrival the room was at 68 (below 30 outside) soooo turned that sucker up. Put it on 74 and thought it would warm up overnight. Arrived pretty late, after 11pm. To my suppose the room was still at 68. And getting out of a warm bed to that was not my idea of a good morning. I called the front desk and the agent confirmed I was using the right thermostat to control the temp and noted that maintenance would check it. That was fixed as when I returned it was a nice balmy 76! Downside though was the unit did an odd cycling thing with warm air....cold air...warm air. So it never shut off at night and tan the entire time. Their drive way is odd, one way only and Tuesday morning there was a delivery truck blocking the exit. Thankfully no one else was behind us so we were able to back out. The room felt very industrial. Concrete walls and high ceilings, with an almost open concept bathroom. Barn door and the shower was a waterfall (over head) with hand held option thankfully. If you've got curtly hair, you know why a waterfall shower is the worst. And to ere was no shower cap as an option. The shower itself did not go all the way to the ceiling which also meant there was no barrier between you and the room. If share with a partner may not be bad but with friends, that's a nightmare. Other downside was the lock was funky. When leaving for dinner, thank goodness I checked the lock as it did not lock. I had to open the door and mess with it to finally lock. All in all decent hotel however I can't say I'd stay again.

Be warned, it's on the more expensive side for dining and may be a coin toss for "is it worth it" for those that enjoy a night out but also looking for value. Food was a mixed bag for us.... Starting with the smashburger was genuinely disappointing as the burger itself was dry and advertised as a "French onion" smashburger that failed to deliver any of the rich, savory flavor we expected with a name like "French onion smashburger". The hot honey Mac and cheese was very good and flavorful... The hot being more of a vinegary heat than I expected but the cream sauce was rich. Speaking of value earlier.... Smashburger was $20 and the Mac and cheese was $28. Entrees were $10-15 more it seemed but previous reviews all spoke highly of the entrees and would want to try them if we visit again. The overall service experience was disappointing for us. Not for the demeanor of the staff but everything else... We had a decent size group of 8 (5 adults and 3 kids) and was fortunate to have a dining room to help the kids burn some energy while not bothering the other diners. However, from ordering to entrees to arrive was 45 very hungry minutes. It also took 20+ mins just to get drinks. Once the food arrived, they also were short two of the kids meals which was thankfully corrected quick. We then were somewhat "gently" being asked to wrap things up by 3 staff members in 10 mins making the rounds to clear plates and any to go containers. We all understand the business in the food industry and turning tables, and trust me, after an hour from arriving to food on the table we wanted to get home for bed time. However, really sours the experience and would not advocate going here with large groups.... Between the kitchen and staff I can't say you'd have a guaranteed good time.

The food was good, but not as amazing as I had thought or hoped. Of course, this is my opinion and you are welcome to disagree. In fact, I'm happy for you if you had a better time. The menu read very fancy and culinarily interesting, but for me at least, that just meant they took what would be great, but overcomplicated it, made it too foodie. No matter what I ordered I would have had to change something. I got the chicken sandwich. I'm in the 10% of the population where cilantro tastes like soap, but cilantro is mixed into the slaw that is the primary thing on the sandwich. I also asked for light chili mayo because I don't like too much. If that was light mayo, then maybe they normally serve it in a bowl of chili mayo. It was 2 relatively large, very fried, chicken breasts. I immediately took one off because I knew I would make myself sick eating so much. Frankly, it basically tasted like a fried and chili mayo sandwich. All the chicken flavor was completely drowned out by the fried taste. I don't think I'd order that again. I swapped out the sides for the Gruyère mashed potatoes. They were very good, but they got really dry and starchy by the end. I got the espresso mock-tini, which was basically milk and a shot of espresso in a martini glass. I could have downed it all in one gulp. It was nonalcoholic, but it was still priced the same as the alcoholic stuff. Bottom line, if the company were paying again, I'd give it another try, but if I lived here I don't think I'd come here again on my own. Still awesome service though, and plenty of people love it, so hopefully it works better for you!

I think it was maybe past its prime. I had one bite and couldn't continue. Inedible. And the fries. The parmesan truffle fries were drenched in mayonnaise??? I don't really care for mayo but I don't mind a drizzle or an aioli dipping sauce. However, the mayo to fry ratio was literally 2:1. I tried to wipe it off and it was still like a mayo-fry soup.
