I began going to Ritter's in my home town and absolutely love, love, love the blueberry glaciers. I have ventured from time to time, but glaciers are definitely my favorite. I am typically never disappointed with any glacier, but on my last visit it wasn't great. I got a large blueberry glacier, which usually is pink/purple and has what seem to be fresh blueberries in it. Mine had maybe 20 blueberries in the entire thing and they were frozen! The ice cream was just white, which was weird but I guess it wasn't blended was a bit disappointed that the typically creamy ice cream had actual ice pieces in it. I am not deterred! When I left for college in Kentucky, many of my friends were from even further south and had no experience of Ritter's. I got to introduce a few of them to its wonders, but it was never quite so delicious as when I was having it back home on Stop 11. Even now, nothing quite satisfies me when I'm feeling low like a cup of frozen custard delivered upside down. Not even their competitors. And that's partly because of the nostalgia, but also because it's just so simple here. There are no gimmicky orange chairs or chilled marble slabs or an extra menu of questionable hot food. I grew up going to Ritter's but was disappointed this time around. While the service was still friendly and fast, the product was lacking. I got a dipped waffle cone and while I love chocolate, this chocolate was super thick and just not very good. The come itself was also stale and I ended up not eating all of it, which I never do. My fiancé got a gelati thing (there spelling not mine) and it was the wrong flavor. They were quick and efficient in fixing the problem but didn't make me want to go back.
