I…read moreintended to send this message three days ago, but I was so upset by my experience that I needed time to calm down before putting my concerns into words.
On Friday evening, I visited Faxio's approximately 70 minutes before closing to order the $7 special, which includes two pizzas and a drink. Since the woman who appeared to be in charge of ringing up the orders was in the back on the phone, the gentleman preparing the pizzas took my order.
When I requested the special, he initially stated that they were closing in about an hour and that he could not make it. I asked what the equivalent option would be, and he told me that if I could wait 15 minutes, he would make the order. I thanked him and he said no problem at all just sit tight. He also explained that I would need to wait until the woman returned to the front to ring it up because he's going to make order. I had absolutely no problem waiting, so I sat down and did exactly that.
When the woman returned to the front, she was still on the phone and repeatedly wiped her nose with her bare hands. After getting off the phone, she asked what I had ordered. I politely as always explained that I had requested the two pizza and a drink special for $7. She immediately responded with a nasty attitude, telling me that I could not have that special because they do not make it and that they were closing in an hour. All the while, she continued wiping her nose with her bare hands.
I explained that the gentleman preparing the food had already agreed to make an exception and had specifically told me to wait. When he brought the pizzas to the front, she opened the box, identified them as two Sicilian pizzas, and abruptly told me the price would be $12. I asked her to confirm with him what he had told me, but she refused. Instead, she demanded to know whether I wanted one pizza or two. At that point, I was so uncomfortable with her attitude and behavior that I told her I would take only one.
What happened next was absolutely appalling. She used her bare hands to separate the pizzas, flung the other pizza back on the counter, closed the box, and proceeded to ring up my order. Watching someone repeatedly wipe their nose with their bare hands and then handle food and proceed with a transaction was beyond disgusting. I was genuinely shocked by the complete lack of basic hygiene and professionalism displayed during this interaction.
I want to be very clear, I am extremely upset and disgusted by the way I was treated and by what I witnessed. This was not simply a disagreement over a menu item or a price. It was the combination of the unnecessary attitude, the refusal to acknowledge what her own employee had already communicated to me, and, most importantly, the unsanitary handling of food. Customers should never have to question whether the food they are purchasing is being handled safely.
My entire company regularly purchases pizza from Faxio's, which makes this experience even more disappointing. However, after what I witnessed and experienced on Friday, I will not be returning. I cannot, in good conscience, continue supporting a business where I have witnessed such disregard for basic food handling hygiene and customer service.
I hope management takes this complaint seriously, addresses the food handling concerns, and ensures that employees understand the importance of proper hygiene and respectful treatment of customers.
I left feeling appalled, disrespected, and thoroughly disgusted. This experience was unacceptable, and I would not wish it on any customer.
