They have three seating options: inside (air conditioned) outside with a screened in porch, or outside with picnic table seating by the Union River. I like the River option on cooler days, but you can also see what the drought has really done to the water level. Tip: Their Lobster Pot Red Ale is a must try.

The baked stuffed haddock dish I got was okay. I didn't get much flavor from it. The garlicky mashed potatoes side was doing the heavier lifting on that front. It seems likely that I ordered the wrong thing. Service was just okay, with no apologies or acknowledgement for the long wait and a bit of time passed with empty cups before they offered drink refills as well. Ambiance is loud open restaurant style with live music in the patio and some lobster fishing related decor. Because the table enjoyed their food much more than I did, I would be disingenuous to rate it less than four but I was not impressed. One of our family members considers this place as their favorite lobster roll place so there's that.

I was looking for a special Maine blueberry pie for my partner when I came across Mount Dessert…read morePies. That man knows blueberry pies. We decided to get one on our way out of town and I'm so incredibly glad we did. Another review says these are the best pies on earth. They're not exaggerating. At all. That blueberry pie was the best pie on earth. I don't need to describe every detail. It's absolute perfection. Seriously, this pie is so good you might have to admit it's better than your grandmother's. The location is tucked away on the main road in and out of Bar Harbor. It's so cute! One sister runs the bakery while the other runs the Bed & Breakfast (which looks absolutely adorable). I'd go back and stay at their b&b just to eat pie all day everyday.

Mount Desserts Pie Company had thousands of positive reviews, so we decided that's where we had to go. When you arrive, there is a handmade sign on the side of the highway for the shop and the driveway to pull in is a little tricky and takes a minute to figure it out. We pulled up right in front of the doors. Tip: turning right after you enter the driveway says "exit" only, so you have to pull straight ahead, even if it seems like you're not supposed to park there. We headed inside and were greeted by a friendly woman named Brit who had a ton of pie boxes ready to go! We got our blueberry pie and ate half of it in the car after we drove away. The pie was exactly what we wanted: fresh, local, great texture, and buttery crust. It was perfection! Another tip: it's cash or Venmo only and you can call ahead. $35 per pie. It's whole pies only, they don't sell by the slice.
