The cooks store of Rooster Brother is a fun spot to walk around. They have a great selection of dish towels, knives and gadgets. I bought a Spoonula (spoon and spatula combo) last year when I was there and I love it. I haven't been able to find one anywhere else. So I came back to get another. My daughter's friend is moving into her first solo apartment so we got her some housewarming items. My daughter went downstairs to get an iced coffee, but it's April in Maine, and they still only have hot coffee. You're in the area you should stop in. read more

Rooster Brother - Coffee Roasteries Near Me - Ellsworth, Maine

Loved my Sumatran latte and was very impressed with the selection of real good quality strong coffee. I love the fact that it's a little grocery store and there's a place where you can have your coffee and a bite to eat outside facing a little streaming River. If you are on your way to Mount Desert island or coming back from there this is your turning point stop for coffee in Ellsworth! read more

The store has a great selection and is really fun to walk through but I've been here twice now and the people working were completely miserable both times. The first time I thought it was an off day, but after my more recent visit I see it's just their horrible service. I asked the cashier (who had no one in line and was not busy) where I could find a ricer like the kind that rices potatoes and the lady looked annoyed then pushed me off with "I don't know. Did you look around for it?" Wow. I even gave it a second shot and asked someone different in the back of the store and got almost the exact same treatment. The place wasn't even busy. Their customer care is just trash. Enough to keep me from going back. read more

OMG OMG WOW....need i say more?! yes, this place is off the main road...yes, it's worth going to...yes, you must stop here! We left Acadia in need of a caffeine fix and no Dunkin will not suffice with that watery light brown liquid they call coffee or even more sacrilegious....espresso. bleh. We were lucky to find this place when yelping and driving and it was worth the 1 min detour into the cutest small town for Rooster Brother Coffee Roasters. This is a building that houses their store and is right over the bridge (parking lot next to the river). We went in and was slapped in the face with the amazing espresso smell and the view of gourmet foods and cheeses. I swear I heard angels singing from above. THIS is what i needed, today and everyday! I had a quad espresso and a blueberry scone, both were amazing and spot on. They definitely take their coffee seriously. all served in corn cups with paper straws. I am so sad that this place isn't closer to me, well maybe I am happy so I won't be here twice a day, haha. Please come and experience this place and their coffee, good service and goods. thank you! read more

We love this store, and always find time to shop and ogle the kitchen goods and gifts upstairs, and the wonderful foods downstairs. Upstairs you will find pans, dishes, cooking utensils, serve ware, table linens, cookbooks, greeting cards, what am I missing? Tons! And it is all beautiful. Downstairs there is wonderful hot coffee, and coffee beans, yummy baked goods ( the best molasses cookies ) cheese, pate, chocolates, teas , what am I missing? Tons! Take your coffee outside and enjoy the pretty setting by the Union River! read more

Note - this isn't obvious from their website or yelp, but they've lost both their barista and plumbing to do any kind of complex coffee, and only have drip. read more

Like almost any kitchen store, items are very expensive-but what a blast to visit this place. It's got everything you need to cook and so many wonderful Maine wares. Always love to stop here for a peek when I'm in the area. read more

It's Rooster Brother! Grabbed A pound of mixed French Roast / Ethiopian for the French Press with some nice cheeses, olives, and a couple cured meats. So late night indulgence and a great eye opening coffee for breakfast. Check this place out. Janice took care of me and I've now added this to my weekly todo list, happily read more

We've been going to Rooster Brother for years, and it never disappoints. Their coffees are consistently excellent, and their personnel are knowledgeable. Their gourmet food department downstairs has something for everyone, with a nice selection speciality items. I especially love their chewy ginger molasses cookies and their fresh ham and cheese brioche sandwiches (get there on the earlier side because they run out). The housewares department is filled with high-quality cookware and accessories - we've bought several items there over the years. I highly recommend it! read more

Easy 5 star review. Even though we loved eating lobster and exploring the north east, this place by far stood head and shoulders above its competitors (other coffee spots). We stopped by in October 2019 on our way to the national park. I'm a savvy consumer and can tell when not to ask for french vanilla flavored syrup. This is that place. when the coffee is good, there is no need for that stuff. this place was spotless, organized, and had a nice scientific feel about it. Big regrets not spending more time here. Even now, when we talk about grabbing a coffee or when we need a pick me up, we say "I wish we could get coffee like that one time in Maine." Awesome. read more

There was a time when you visited Rooster Bro, you'd see a smile or two, and when checking out, the clerk would at least acknowledge that something was at the counter who was actually breathing. Not any more. Had a very cold visit today. The cashier took my money, without a word or a smile. I don't know if she was stuck up or just plain ignorant. I really hope I do not have to return to this store. read more

I am a loyal, Rooster Brothers customer. Yes, the coffee is great, but the shopping experience is THE BEST! I always begin a visit with one of RB's homemade molasses cookies. Yesterday, I stocked up on tea, Walkerswood Jamaican spice paste, gourmet cheese, hand-cut steak, and fresh bread. The housewares section upstairs has everything for serious cooks and also table linens and super nice serving pieces. If you need anything to boil lobsters this is the place to go. Finally, Rooster Brothers is a special place to find unique, Maine-themed Christmas and hostess gifts. I love Rooster Brothers! read more

Best coffee you'll find in Maine. Roasted right there so the place smells awesome. Every kitchen gadget you could possibly think of.

When you are in the woods of Maine and you crave an espresso, fancy kitchen goods, break your ceramic pour over, Rooster Bro has you covered. I was pleasant!y surprised to see every sort of specialty coffee tool available. From moka pots to travel mugs to French presses. They have it. The coffee is in the basement and directly to your left. There are self serve pump pots and a bar where you request your espresso drinks. The macchiato I snagged was tasty through it was loaded up with enough foamed milk to call it a dry cappuccino. As a dry cappuccino I very much enjoyed it. The ginger cookie was awesome. Service was good. I also purchased a half pound of Ethiopia Yirgacheffe. Generally I prefer my Yirgacheffe in a cinnamon to city roast. Rooster Bro roasts theirs from a full city to full city+. While I can say that the coffee was expertly roasted it was too dark for me. The darker roast defiantly takes away the special fruitiness I associate with Yirgacheffe. This roast will appeal to people who like darker roasted coffees. In future visits I'll have to try some of their other varieties that I'll like more in a darker roast, because as dark roasts go, Rooster Bro has it dialed in. read more

I visit Rooster Brother for two reasons. 1. Kitchen Equipment. They have an amazing selection of high quality kitchen hardware. 2. THE COFFEE! They have the most elite selection of coffee I have ever seen under one roof anywhere. Best part they have tastings so you can sample that Joe before you purchase a pound. If you like to cook, or just have a special place in your heart for java then make it a point to visit Rooster Brother. read more

This isn't just for coffee! Gourmet foods on the lower level, Gourmet kitchen and dining equipment on the upper level. There is a third level that is a clearance room, but its hours are limited. They are a bit pricey, but the items are all high quality, and they carry a lot of unusual things. read more

Came here in recommendation of our Airbnb host. I purchased a Lustro which was 2 shots of espresso and equal amount of soy milk, my husband ordered a latte. My husbands latte he said was good they made it right. I've drank many a macchiato so am familiar with strong espresso drinks. The Lustro while not bad also wasn't outstanding. The espresso was very bitter to start and had a burnt taste for the first portion, after drinking for a while it was more nutty and roasted but just not to my liking. We didn't go upstairs but did walk around downstairs and it looked like there was a unique selection of meats, chocolates, cheeses and other cooking necessities. read more

Based on some other great reviews we were really looking forward to a good cup of coffee at Rooster Brother Coffee Roasters. This place is so much fun. Really cool kitchen items and snappy gifts. Downstairs you'll find gourmet foods, snacks and delicious coffee.

Holy kitchen goods, Batman! This place has loads of high end kitchen appliances, pots and pans, gadgets and specialty items. You'll find things here you didn't know you couldn't live with out. Because it is mostly high end brand name items, the prices do reflect that. This is one of those cases though that you get what you pay for. Once you are done with your kitchen good purchases you can head downstairs where they sell wine, cheese, breads, coffee and specialty foods. What's not to love? read more

So, here's the thing, I LOVE this store. I feel so fortunate to have such a wonderful kitchen supply store in our tiny town. It is packed to the gills with lovely, high-quality kitchen-wares and books, and the downstairs has delicious chocolates, coffee beans, meats, etc. I walk in here and I want to buy absolutely everything! But I can't quite give it 5 stars. Every single time I get a latte here, it is unbearably bitter. Bitter in a way I've never experienced at any other coffee shop I've frequented (and I used to get a latte pretty much every day when I lived in San Francisco). At first, I thought it was just that the barista was having an off day or something. But it's happened to me at least 5 times in a row, which makes me think that they've either got something wrong with their espresso machine (water too hot?) or they're not pulling the shots right (overextracting, maybe?) It's too bad, because I really miss excellent lattes, and this is pretty much the only game in town. :-( read more

Think Kitchen Kapers or some other gourmet goods store. In the basement you will find bread, cheeses, coffee, light fare, etc. You will pay boutique prices although you can probably find a better cappuccino up Main Street. Get a cup and sit by the river just next to the parking lot. read more

Awesome place! They roast their own coffee. Bought some Kona and Yirgacheffe. Looking forward to some good Joe!

This is quite possibly the best coffee I've ever had, no doubt due to the fact that each small batch was just roasted.

You guys make good coffee. And all of your shirts look real cute. Keep up the good work, kiddos.

Best espresso drinks, made the true Italian way (I lived in Italy). Quality through and through.

If you like REALLY dark and strong iced coffee, this place is a must en route to Acadia. Pick up a molasses cookie and a bag of snacks while here. read more
