The cooks store of Rooster Brother is a fun spot to walk around. They have a great selection of dish towels, knives and gadgets. I bought a Spoonula (spoon and spatula combo) last year when I was there and I love it. I haven't been able to find one anywhere else. So I came back to get another. My daughter's friend is moving into her first solo apartment so we got her some housewarming items. My daughter went downstairs to get an iced coffee, but it's April in Maine, and they still only have hot coffee. You're in the area you should stop in. read more

The store has a great selection and is really fun to walk through but I've been here twice now and the people working were completely miserable both times. The first time I thought it was an off day, but after my more recent visit I see it's just their horrible service. I asked the cashier (who had no one in line and was not busy) where I could find a ricer like the kind that rices potatoes and the lady looked annoyed then pushed me off with "I don't know. Did you look around for it?" Wow. I even gave it a second shot and asked someone different in the back of the store and got almost the exact same treatment. The place wasn't even busy. I love the fact that it's a little grocery store and there's a place where you can have your coffee and a bite to eat outside facing a little streaming River. OMG OMG WOW....need i say more?! yes, this place is off the main road...yes, it's worth going to...yes, you must stop here! We left Acadia in need of a caffeine fix and no Dunkin will not suffice with that watery light brown liquid they call coffee or even more sacrilegious....espresso. bleh. We were lucky to find this place when yelping and driving and it was worth the 1 min detour into the cutest small town for Rooster Brother Coffee Roasters. This is a building that houses their store and is right over the bridge (parking lot next to the river). We went in and was slapped in the face with the amazing espresso smell and the view of gourmet foods and cheeses. I swear I heard angels singing from above. THIS is what i needed, today and everyday! I had a quad espresso and a blueberry scone, both were amazing and spot on. They definitely take their coffee seriously. all served in corn cups with paper straws. I am so sad that this place isn't closer to me, well maybe I am happy so I won't be here twice a day, haha. We've been going to Rooster Brother for years, and it never disappoints. Their coffees are consistently excellent, and their personnel are knowledgeable. Their gourmet food department downstairs has something for everyone, with a nice selection speciality items. I especially love their chewy ginger molasses cookies and their fresh ham and cheese brioche sandwiches (get there on the earlier side because they run out). The housewares department is filled with high-quality cookware and accessories - we've bought several items there over the years. I highly recommend it! read more

Easy 5 star review. Even though we loved eating lobster and exploring the north east, this place by far stood head and shoulders above its competitors (other coffee spots). We stopped by in October 2019 on our way to the national park. I'm a savvy consumer and can tell when not to ask for french vanilla flavored syrup. This is that place. when the coffee is good, there is no need for that stuff. this place was spotless, organized, and had a nice scientific feel about it. Big regrets not spending more time here. I am a loyal, Rooster Brothers customer. Yes, the coffee is great, but the shopping experience is THE BEST! I always begin a visit with one of RB's homemade molasses cookies. Yesterday, I stocked up on tea, Walkerswood Jamaican spice paste, gourmet cheese, hand-cut steak, and fresh bread. The housewares section upstairs has everything for serious cooks and also table linens and super nice serving pieces. If you need anything to boil lobsters this is the place to go. When you are in the woods of Maine and you crave an espresso, fancy kitchen goods, break your ceramic pour over, Rooster Bro has you covered. I was pleasant!y surprised to see every sort of specialty coffee tool available. From moka pots to travel mugs to French presses. They have it. The coffee is in the basement and directly to your left. There are self serve pump pots and a bar where you request your espresso drinks. The macchiato I snagged was tasty through it was loaded up with enough foamed milk to call it a dry cappuccino. As a dry cappuccino I very much enjoyed it. The ginger cookie was awesome. Service was good. I also purchased a half pound of Ethiopia Yirgacheffe. Generally I prefer my Yirgacheffe in a cinnamon to city roast. Rooster Bro roasts theirs from a full city to full city+. While I can say that the coffee was expertly roasted it was too dark for me. The darker roast defiantly takes away the special fruitiness I associate with Yirgacheffe. This roast will appeal to people who like darker roasted coffees. In future visits I'll have to try some of their other varieties that I'll like more in a darker roast, because as dark roasts go, Rooster Bro has it dialed in. read more

Came here in recommendation of our Airbnb host. I purchased a Lustro which was 2 shots of espresso and equal amount of soy milk, my husband ordered a latte. My husbands latte he said was good they made it right. I've drank many a macchiato so am familiar with strong espresso drinks. The Lustro while not bad also wasn't outstanding. The espresso was very bitter to start and had a burnt taste for the first portion, after drinking for a while it was more nutty and roasted but just not to my liking. Holy kitchen goods, Batman! This place has loads of high end kitchen appliances, pots and pans, gadgets and specialty items. You'll find things here you didn't know you couldn't live with out. Because it is mostly high end brand name items, the prices do reflect that. This is one of those cases though that you get what you pay for. So, here's the thing, I LOVE this store. I feel so fortunate to have such a wonderful kitchen supply store in our tiny town. It is packed to the gills with lovely, high-quality kitchen-wares and books, and the downstairs has delicious chocolates, coffee beans, meats, etc. I walk in here and I want to buy absolutely everything! But I can't quite give it 5 stars. Every single time I get a latte here, it is unbearably bitter. Bitter in a way I've never experienced at any other coffee shop I've frequented (and I used to get a latte pretty much every day when I lived in San Francisco). At first, I thought it was just that the barista was having an off day or something. But it's happened to me at least 5 times in a row, which makes me think that they've either got something wrong with their espresso machine (water too hot?) or they're not pulling the shots right (overextracting, maybe?) It's too bad, because I really miss excellent lattes, and this is pretty much the only game in town. :-( read more
