Bucklyn is a tiny little coffee shop in the heart of Blue Hill. The staff are kind and the drinks are tasty. Because it's a small establishment, the menu is pretty slim, but I enjoyed the maple latte, which was not too sweet (rare to find these days). During a recent trip to Maine, I stopped by Bucklyn Coffee for a caffeine fix and a snack on my way to Bar Harbor. I'm so happy that I made the stop, because the friendly and welcoming vibe was amazing and the coffee was also great! I ordered a maple latte, which was not overly sweet and was expertly constructed. I also ordered a cinnamon roll, which was tasty and a perfect snack! I would definitely recommend if you are in the area, and I hope I can try Bucklyn again the next time I'm in town. read more

A cute little walk-up-to-the-window type of coffee shop with incredible coffee (they roast and sell their beans!), pastries, and service. Quite possibly one of the friendliest and most helpful encounters with a local Mainer while I was visiting a couple months back. I didn't catch her name, but the women running the shop when we stopped by gave us recs for non-Acadia hikes and other towns to visit while we were in the area. We grabbed some coffee beans for our AirBnB and (maybe) too many pastries, but it was well worth it. They bake a limited number of pastries and sweets daily, so you'll want to get there before they near closing time to make sure you can snag a few. The apple turnovers and cookies were both delicious, but I don't think you can make a bad choice with any. Tip: if you're looking for a moderate hike in the area, go across the street to the Post Office parking lot, where you'll find the entrance to the Osgood Trailhead. First half of the trail is flat, and the second half is a semi-steep climb up to the Summit. read more

Quick, efficient service and reliable menu of standard coffee drinks, which were served by an incredibly pleasant (and quite handsome!) gentleman on the one day I went. The outdoor seating (shared with an adjacent real estate company's building) is wonderful, configured in such a way that you can sit by yourself and enjoy the weather, read a book, peruse the internet on your phone or laptop, or have conversations with friends, family, activity buddies, or colleagues who might happen to be accompanying you. The seating includes a very comfortable outdoor couch, although I have concerns about how well it might fare out in the elements. Alas, I *do* have to deduct a star - just one star, no hard feelings - for the lack of indoor seating options, especially given the need for air-conditioning on a hot day. read more

My husband and I came here on a whim once a few years ago, and we were back in the area this week so stopped by for another coffee. This time I got the mocha latte and he has the maple latte. Both were excellent. The owner of the establishment was doing the brewing and he was very friendly and you can tell he really takes pride in his offerings. Best americano I've had since the pandemic clobbered us. Then, two days later, the best cappuccino. The medium-length, socially distanced line on a recent Saturday morning is a testimony to the excellence of the coffee and the friendliness of the wonderful owner and coffee wizard (assisted by his adorable and impressive children when we visited!). If you're in Blue Hill, and you care about coffee, you owe it to yourself to stop in. Wildly enough, in the line, we were waiting with friends, they speaking Catalan, and whaddauknow, a Catalan-speaking young woman introduced herself and they went off on a long conversation leading to all the people they know in common. Blue Hill is so great, and Bucklyn is one if its many gems. read more

Great local coffee shop with awesome espresso that's a strong competitor to the best places on Portland or Boston. The family that owns the place are incredibly kind and knowledgeable. They make their own blends (Bucklyn), which I preferred over the regional favorites (e.g. Counter Culture, Bard, Coffee By Design). On top of that, they did a great job actually making the coffee. If you're on your way to Acadia, it's worth the extra 15 minutes. read more

I bought a package of Tanzania Honey AA beans. They made the most delicious, exciting coffee I have ever drunk. The experience was a symphony of flavors, resulting from top-quality, interesting beans, expertly roasted. The roaster/owner, despite constant long lines of customers ordering drinks and asking questions, was knowledgeable, polite, friendly, and very helpful. Don't let those long lines discourage you. We were looking for a cup of coffee while out on a drive on the coast of Maine. Without consulting Yelp ( !!!! ) we stumbled upon this little local place that had excellent coffee. What a lovely surprise! My husband's Americano was the best he has ever had, and my Cappuccino was perfect. Both drinks carefully prepared with freshly ground beans. We really love good coffee and we will be back again. The barista was very friendly and warm. And the cookies look delicious. Owner David Dillon is fanatical -- in a very good way -- about bean selection, processing, and preparation, resulting in a truly amazing espresso. Bucklyn Coffee, a beautiful Maine coffee house. This coffee shop is delicious, and very Blue Hill, Maine. If you're looking for a wonderful place to grab a coffee when you running late, head here. Or if you want to sit and hang out, definitely feel free to sit and ponder life. Though this place is not a sit, drink and work on a computer type of facility because of its lack of space and seating. A unique place to step into, this is easily going to top all of the other Blue Hill coffee shops (including the chocolatiers/coffee shop down the road..)! I am getting ready to make a return trip to Blue Hill after about a year's absence, and one of my first stops will be to Bucklyn's Coffee, across from the Post Office on Main Street. David is thoroughly knowledgeable about coffee and grinds it himself! And the friendly service just makes the coffee even better! David answered my questions about the area and made my stay in Blue Hill all the more enjoyable and smoother. I have missed this little coffee shop and can't wait to return early in October of 2018!
