    Vegan Pulled Pork

I've been looking for a new apartment, and this is a cute little spot in the neighborhood I've been looking in. My dad had found it online, and upon entering, I thought it was adorable. There's large tables for communal seating, and an adorable outdoor garden with cushions on the floor. It has a very homey vibe. You order and pick up your food at the counter, but unfortunately the service was a bit slow. The staff is very friendly, though, so once we brought it to their attention that we were still waiting, they fixed it right away, and our food came out soon after. I got the vegan pulled pork, which instead of pork, used seitan. It came with a side of spicy cabbage slaw. Even with the wait, it was absolutely delicious. So much flavor in one meal! I'll definitely be back- and hopefully next time, this'll be my new neighborhood.

Oh my gosh I've returned and will not stop raving about the food here. Walked to Risbo after hitting up the Bath house down the street. What a wonderful end to the night. The new-to-us items this time: the chicken, the cobbler, and the Beets w/ blueberries. The chicken has to be my new favorite - super flavorful and juicy. Returning stars this time: the roasted lamb, the sautéed greens and the mac & cheese. Pls try the mac & cheese. Service is always great, they recommended the seasonal drink, it was a type of rum punch. DELICIOUS. A great date night spot.

Risbo is a really great cafe and restaurant that I keep coming back to. First, the space is really lovely. The lighting filters in from outside and there are lots of plants to look at while you're spending time there. Second, the food is really great, I've tried the soup and avocado toast so far and have really liked both. My friend got the vegetarian sandwich and I think I'll order that next time. They have a pretty varied menu and I am looking forward to trying more of it.

Back again for brunch and it did not disappoint! You order at the counter and bus your own table, but the vibe is laid-back with great music. The lamb hash was insanely tender and flavorful, and the roasted chicken is a must get. My boyfriend loved his baked eggs and lamb sausage too. It might take a minute for the food, but trust me--it's so worth the wait!

It wasn't just a meal, it was an experience. I left full, happy, and honestly a little emotional. I'll be back. No question. Every single bite on that plate was intentional: the creamy hummus, the spicy harissa, the tangy pickled cabbage, the perfectly seasoned rice... it all came together like a flavor symphony. Nothing was bland. Nothing was basic. As someone from the Caribbean, I'm used to bold, rich, unforgettable flavors, but this? This was next level. The ambiance is set to make it like home. And the service is top quality.

Great casual French restaurant in the PLG neighborhood. Cool spot for summer brunch or dinner with an open kitchen concept, spacious dining tables, and a pretty outdoor dining area. Risbo is open on the weekends only for brunch and dinner after 5. This spot is casual. You order and pick up your order at the counter when your food is ready. You can sit anywhere. I came on a Saturday afternoon for brunch. Ordered the lamb hash, Ojja morguez, which is basically a shashuka, and a side of hummus. The dishes came with pita bread. I wish the pita was a bit more soft. But the lamb was so tender, well seasoned and flavorful. The shashuka was also delicious. Portions were okay, but wish it was bigger. Overall, food was delicious. I would like to come back for their dinner menu. Staff were also friendly. The chef (I assume is also the owner) was super nice and helped with the high chair. Only reason I took a star off was that the barista forgot our coffee. We waited pretty long for it and it never came so we finally had to go ask for it.

I came here for lunch on a Friday - I was disappointed since I had heard so many great things about their brunch menu BUT STILL I RISE! I opted for the RISBO egg sandwich with bacon and a side of potatoes. The sandwich was delicious! I love whatever sauce they had on top. The potatoes were filling and flavorful. It was nice to see the chef making everything fresh. I also tried their HUGE chocolate chip cookies - great size to share - they were great and not too sweet! I cannot wait to come back again to try their brunch menu.

Wow this place is simple but so good and it feels super healthy too! I highly recommend their Risbo platter (all the proteins are good but I think chicken is the best). The chicken was super juicy and the jus drizzled over is bursting with concentrated chicken flavor, I never knew chicken can be so flavourful. The other banger in the platter is the rice. Super well seasoned and perfect chew. It is placed next to the beets, so it lended a bit of sweetness which was nice (huge fan of sweet and savory). I will say however that the seasoning and texture on the rice can be inconsistent, but the visit that had the best quality was really good. Especially with the chicken over rice. The sauces with the rice and chicken are super good as well. For instance the aioli and I highly recommend the chili oil as well (it's like Lao gan ma, which is so good over rice) The hummus, plantains and red cabbage are such great sides as well, refreshing and a nice balance to the richer proteins. This place is also known for their Mac n cheese, and they deserve it! It is super cheesy and flavorful, one of my favorite mac n cheeses I've had!

I think the food is delicious, but both times I've eaten at Risbo in person, we waited a very long time for our food. Most recently, we went on a Tuesday evening and waited 50 minutes (!) to be served. We were not an exception -- everyone waited this long, and no one was happy. This is inexcusable at a restaurant that purports to be "fast-casual." We would give them much more business if this weren't the case, and if they didn't charge $9.99 for delivery.

Risbo has been a neighborhood staple for years, and there's a reason so many people keep coming back. This place is more than just a restaurant; its a community gathering spot, bringing together people from all around Brooklyn. There's this welcoming, unpretentious vibe here that makes it easy to feel at home, whether you're a regular or it's your first time. I always go for the "whatever platter" which includes their delicious roasted chicken , my friend got their the pork and I always have a side of mac and cheese. The chicken and pork are both unbelievably tender and flavorful, and the mac and cheese is everything you'd hope for - creamy, rich, and so comforting. They nail it every time, and I appreciate how consistent the quality is; it's clear they care about every dish they serve. What I really love is that Risbo embodies the spirit of the Brooklyn community. It's a place where everyone feels welcome, where you can show up as you are, and you'll see people from all walks of life enjoying a meal together. The staff are genuinely warm and friendly, adding to the sense that you're part of something special here. Risbo has this ethos of simple, delicious food served with care and without the fuss. They focus on flavor and atmosphere over frills, and they've created a spot where people come to connect over great food. For anyone in Brooklyn - or even just passing through - Risbo is one of those must-visit places that captures the heart of the community.

Everything is 5 stars! The aroma that emanated from the restaurant was simply enchanting. The ordering process and overall set up of the spot was differ but easily maneuvered. Our drinks were ready first and the food took a little longer to arrive. We ate till our bellies popped and had take-away. Everything was chef's kiss. We will be back again!

5/5 for the food, service, and ambiance. My first day in Brooklyn and my friend recommends this for dinner. Whew was I blown away. This is a spot with good food, beautiful environment, and amazing music. Food: I ordered the Risbo Chicken Platter and Apple Cobbler. Just thinking about how delicious the chicken platter was made my mouth water LOL. The chicken was so juicy, not dry at all. The mashed potatoes were creamy and buttery, an amazing pairing with the chicken. I ate all of my vegetables because i loved the saute that they did. The Apple Cobbler was jaw dropping. It tastes like Apple, but my friend and I kept wondering "is there a hint of nectarine? mandarin??" whatever it was, it was DELICIOUS. It was a great taste in your mouth of sweet, crunchy, and tangy. I thoroughly enjoyed my entire meal and left no crumbs. Location: Beautiful! We came during dinnertime and it feels so cozy. It was such a great place to catch up with my friend. They have an interior and exterior that are big enough where there's pretty good spacing between each party. I loved the foliage, the decorations, and of course the amazing music. The bathrooms are gender neutral and they set it up where the sink is outside. Loveeee the decor they use! Service: You order at the counter, seat yourself, and clean up after yourself. They give you a buzzer to let you know when your food is ready. The employees there were all super nice and friendly! I enjoyed their recommendation and they all seemed laid back and chill. Overall, amazing. I would definitely come back here. I want to try more of their menu because that chicken, mashed potatoes, vegetables, and apple cobbler hit the spot.

My spouse and I came for brunch. We both had the chicken and waffles. The chicken was tender and well seasoned. The waffles were crispy and delicious. The sunny side up egg was cooked perfectly. I loved the cilantro and chilies. The red cabbage slaw was amazing! I could eat 3x as much, easily. The counter service was reasonably quick and attentive. The atmosphere is just beautiful and serene. Highly recommend this place!

    Ask the Community - Risbo

    Is it Pet friendly (dog)?

Not sure didn't see a sign or anyone with a pet.

Was there once and noticed lots of charge stations. Is this place work-station Friendly? Or would that be weird to have my laptop put as I enjoyed my dinner slowly ( for 2+ hours)?

Yes, it would be weird. The place is always loud and designed for ppl to communicate with each other. Also, they are only open from 5-11/12 which would take away from a café vibe.

    Do they have highchairs available?

    Yep! They do : )

    Does Risbo do take out?

Yes, you can order food to go.

TL;DR version- Some high highs and some very low lows. Hot Figs was a fun app. By a mile, the soups…read morewere the favorites, so I would recommend the Pepián or Caldo Tlalpeño Rojo. Nice happy hour and a large chocolate drink selection I was at this unique Guatemalan (ish) restaurant a while back with one of my groups. I said "ish" because the menu has dishes from all over, ranging from sandwiches to BBQ ribs to Guatemalan and Mexican soups. It's out there, and even though not everything works that well, it's fun, and if you can't find something you want to order here, you probably shouldn't go out to restaurants. There was also live jazz music that night, which was loud but nice to listen to. Since it was happy hour, a bunch of us got drinks. I went with a maracuya margarita, which was decent; someone else had a jalapeño margarita, someone had a beer, and someone had a mojito. There were a few nice hot sauces on the table, with the red one reminding me of salsa macha as it had a smoky kick and a spicier green sauce reminiscent of ají verde. They gave us some complimentary blue corn chips and a very mild black bean dip, which was tasty enough and hard to complain about, as it was free. From the appetizers, we got the Hot Figs for $15.95, consisting of honey goat cheese, corn tortilla chips, and plum + pumpkin seeds. This was a unique and fun blend and reminded me more of something you would find in a wine bar. The mix of sweet and salty, with a bit of crunch from the seeds, was nice. This was good, and I would recommend it for a table rather than for a solo diner. There was also The Zingy Salad for $21.95, featuring zucchini spirals, yuzu, tomato, onion, cilantro, pumpkin seeds, and a jalapeño infusion. $18.95. The salad was fine with a bit of crunch and a mild spiciness. It was fine, though a bit wet, for lack of a better word. The best dishes of the night were the soups, which each had its own distinct flavor profile. My sight presence went to the Pepián for $21.95, consisting of chicken, pumpkin/sesame seeds, green tomatillo, cinnamon, cumin, black pepper, carrots, chili coban/pasta/guaque, and potato + rice. There was plenty of tender chicken inside, with the soup having a nice roasted flavor with some spice and a bit of sourness. The potatoes and rice on the bottom added more sustenance to this dish. Almost equally delicious was the Caldo Tlalpeño Rojo for a dollar more with shredded chicken, tomato, black pepper, garlic, onions, peas, chickpeas, corn, achiote, chipotle, Monterey jack cheese, and crunchy blue corn tortilla chips. By comparison, this was a bit heartier, with the melted cheese and shredded tortilla chips inside, similar to soups found in Mexican cuisine. While I also liked the mix of veggies a bit more in this one, as it added a bit more texture, I still slightly preferred the flavor of the other soup, as I usually prefer a bit more spice. The rest of the food was fine. The TPC sandwich for $19.95 with chicken, peanut butter, coconut cream, ginger, cilantro, pickled carrots, and lime was fine. For the number of ingredients, I found it a bit sweet, likely from the cream and the peanut butter mix. The bread was nice, but it also fell apart. It came with a nice side salad with a good vinaigrette. The most expensive at $24.95 were the Slow Cooked BBQ Ribs, consisting of baby back ribs with rice and beans. The ribs were almost a bit too tender as they lacked any bite, which was nice, but the sauce was a bit too generic tasting, reminding me of Sweet Baby Ray's or something similar. The rice and beans were standard. This was also OK. Next came some dessert. There was first the $12.95 Rosemary Churros served with dulce de leche & chocolate dips. While I'm not sure if it worked, the rosemary did add a unique smell and a bit of flavor, and at least it wasn't generic. The churros themselves were hot, and the sauces were standard, with my preference being the dulce de leche. I also ordered a Champurrado for $7.95, which was fine. It wasn't as thick as I expected, though perhaps the style is a bit different than the champurrados I rarely buy from Mexican street carts. The chocolate flavor was very nice, though, and I like that it wasn't too sweet. Another person got a $4 Alfajor, which I got a bite of, which was standard. This place is a bit hard to rate. The two soups were wonderful, I liked the appetizers, and I found a couple of the other dishes just OK. Overall, it was a good meal, but I'm not craving to go back. This would be the perfect 3.5, but I'll round up as that doesn't exist.
