Original review: I've come to this place a few times. Their drinks are pretty tasty even though they're on small side. They do sometimes have a little more alcohol than other places which is cool since drinks around here 13 +. I've always enjoyed their kale salad and I think I had one of their roast chickens which was ok but a bit salty. So now that I kissed a little toosh let me get to the drama (yet again in NYC). Because if this shiznit happened in the south -- I highly doubt it would go down like this. Basically when I was told that my order was up (since we don't even have any service of any kind which is fine and I still tip regularly ") the new girl ended up giving the duck dish instead of the lamb. I had a client call me and while I was chatting w her, I wasn't aware of what I was eating. A few moments later a woman by the name of Brianna came by and said flatly that I was eating the wrong dish. She already had an attitude like I did something or I stole something. The new girl since she was being trained by Brianna was the one that told me my order was up. Brianna wasn't really paying attention which is fine but I tried to explain all that to this knucklehead that gave me an attitude. I wasn't nice about it but far from raising my vo or yelling. So she said since I ate most of it (haha ok i ate half a leg of what I thought LEG OF LAMb) sue me. She then had the nerve to tell me to calm down that I was raising my voice. Brianna was defensive the entire time like those in the hood probably would. The manager who also gave me an attitude told me that she was going to give me a new order.... as if she was loaning me a 1000 bucks. So essentially, I had to go and get an attitude with these people about their attitude towards me to get the right dish. If you wanna ignore this and have nice drinks then it's a good place to hang out. The outdoor area is pretty cozy and clean looking. I would be aware of the fact that you are not waited on this time around during pandemic. Update: Owner called me and profusely apologized and says he never expects his staff to behave in this manner. I really hope no one gets shafted b/c things happen...it's 98 degrees outside. As well, I still need be honest ...but I'm going to update that the meat dishes are pretty good....it's just that I'm just not a roast meat fan. I just like baked meats better. The lamb that I'm eating now however is pretty good and mild. I'm glad I got it and... in a way, I got a sample portion of the duck by mistake haha. read more

This food is REALLY good and REALLY fresh. I thoroughly enjoyed. Recommended to my boyfriend and I from one of his friends. Each meal is $20; my bf got the lamb and I got the chicken. You don't need to chew, the meat is so soft and perfectly cooked. The meat/protein comes with shredded pickled cabbage, plantain with red onions, rice, roasted veggies/potatoes and hummus. Hummus was amazing. We wanted more!! Portions were actually decent because we weren't stuffed, we were perfectly full. I cant wait to come back! As far as the restaurant, really nice vibes and I loved that there was a DJ. Great ambiance. Didn't feel like you were in Flatbush, really great crowd. Perfect for casual date night or girls date. Also really good for a first date! You self serve which is cool. I got a ginger rum drink, they clearly used real ginger. It was amazing! One thing I did not like was that the food was on like a parchment like paper- so the hummus and the other sauces kind of seeped through onto the tray. read more

Food is good but the service sucks. Also it gets really hot in there in the summer. The kindest person there is the dishwasher/busboy. There's a cashier who is dark-skinned with a slim build who is just rude. She comes off unbothered and when I asked about dessert flavors said, "It's back there." Back where? There was no board, just some faint writings on tiled walls. Like chick are you trying to sell me on dessert or not? For the prices and the ambiance they need people that are as kind as the dishwasher. Flatbush people can be rough around the edges but that chick was just too bourgie. Great new restaurant in Lefferts Gardens. Eclectic and unique mix of foods -- there are delicious large plates that are served with a main protein and scrumptious sides (plantains, hummus, cabbage, etc). The drinks are also great and there is a lovely outdoor section for when it is warmer. They are also always bumping great soca, reggae or world music. read more

The Mac five cheese pictured on the online menu isn't what was served. Not ooey gooey as expected. The mashed potatoes tasted more like melted cheese than mashed potatoes. The whatever platter was one note. A disappointing meal and not worth the price. read more

I've heard about this spot and finally got a chance to check it out. Walked in to great music and a nice crowd. Checked out the food being made, and walked through and loved the ambiance. Decided to place an order. That's where the stars start to decline. It wasn't the long wait for food, that was understandable, since it was crowded. Our buzzer goes off and we return to the counter and no one is there to take our buzzer. More people approach and the young lady jumped in and was preparing the next order and called out the number. It wasn't ours, but we told her ours had gone off and she dismissed us and asked for the current number. The guest took their food and we explained our buzzer (24) went off and she said ours would be right up. We waited... I then asked is our food ready as there was a bag packed behind her and she dismissed us again and said we he have to wait. After waiting even longer, I then asked how long is the wait after the buzzer goes off. She said its up the chef. I explained that didn't make any sense. Why make our buzzer go off if our food isn't ready? We watched people who walked in long after us get food and leave. Even the staff making the food came to the front concerned that we were still there. At this point, I'm pissed and everyone is scrambling to figure out what happened. Gave us some BS story about they're making the order now. The young lady never once apologized, stayed dismissive and then rudely asked... well what desert do you want? My boyfriend said Cheesecake. She then takes the cheesecake, and puts it in the bag that was packed in the back the entire time. No apology. I left disappointed, because I had such a good vibe upon entering ... then to get home with food that's now cold AND THE ORDER WASNT CORRECT. SMH. The food wasn't all that great either after all that. If the young lady at the front desk would not have had such an unpleasant disposition, especially when in the wrong, I might be open to trying again.... but I can see, this unfortunately is the norm regarding service. Love the look and vibe. But too pricey for a place where most people working are extremely rude and poorly trained. You also have to buzz your own tables which is fine but it's just too expensive for that. Also most of our meat orders were far too fatty and I see other reviewer's had the same experience. Our buzzer didn't work so we waited for food for a long time and somehow got chided for it (" we've been buzzing you!") which felt wrong. I got the slow cooked pork and 50% of it was inedible grease ... so that was disappointing. I love the ambiance here, but the food left me unimpressed. I ordered the beef and a side of the spicy cabbage. The portion of the beef was tiny, probably less than 4oz, and the slices were full of fat and a couple of veins. I left very hungry. I had the kale salad and mac & cheese. Both delicious. I liked the atmosphere and music. The woman who waited on us at the bar could not have been nicer. The woman at the counter however . . . needs to learn a little about customer service. My wife asked her if we pay her at the counter and she replied, "I don't know who you people are or where you came from!" Bizarre. Definitely needs some training. First of all this place is a great vibe and interior design. The backyards is so lovely to sit and chill, and music a big plus. However, the food is very very disappointing. Portions are very small. We ordered duck, plantain, and rice. They all were cold. The duck was overly seasoned, no unique flavor at all. Rice was unbelievably cold and the plantain was over ripped. Wish I could give them zero stars. This one star goes to the incredible thoughtfulness of the delivery person who began texting me about my delayed order while the restaurant itself did nothing. After an hour, the delivery person said there was a delay and I waited. (It was very considerate of him to contact me and I wish i could give him 1000000 stars!) After an hour and a half, the seamless app told me my order had been delivered 30 minutes prior. So I called the restaurant. The person who answered made me feel like I was in the wrong for calling. It was a miserable interaction. Food is good. But the people who work there (delivery people aside) are going to run the business into the ground with their rudeness. read more

Had a great time here... Food is simple, but delicious, flavorful, and comforting. Very casual and trendy. All the employees were very friendly. It's part of a string of places opening up that cater to the neighborhood's gentrification as well as the diversity of the area. The outdoor space is calm and quiet at least on a weekday evening. Not in love with the low seating. I was uncomfortable with my longish legs, but it was too nice to sit indoors. Cocktail from their menu wasn't very strong. Beers are craft, but pretty boring. I really wanted to love this place but it confused me which was unpleasant. I ordered for 4 people which was about $140 and I tipped 20% = $30 at the counter when ordering but I had to pick up my food, drinks and buss the table. I do support the kitchen staff but I feel slightly ripped off for them not informing me of this. Food was good, but I can't come back to a place that I feel disappointed in. I do wish them luck and better manners in not ripping off their clients. People will support you when they feel respected. read more

One star review is due to their relations with their neighbors. They are entirely too disrespectful of their neighbors. They leave their backyard open so all the noise travels into our apartment. They leave the back door open even when the backyard is empty, allowing the extraneous noise and music to bother their neighbors uninhibited. They play games with the volume: lowering it when the cops come from our noise complaints and then bringing it back up after they leave. Over all they are horrible neighbors. I would love to see them start showing us some respect and being actual members of the community here. read more

I was so impressed by the vibe of the place. The atmosphere was nice, refreshing decor, beautiful featured artwork and photography. The food was so delicious. While walking past your establishment I heard a song with multiple references of the N word. Your doors were wide open so passerby's hear this poor choose of music. I've never eating here, but I ordered twice so far and the food is delicious. The plantains are spicy, rice pilaf is a smaller portion that's still good, chicken has so much flavor! Had the beef and it was good, but not my thing although my guy eat it up. The kale salad is great! The whatever pickles are just that. Whatever. It's a medley of mixed veggies that I'm not too sure all should be pickled... when you order out someone did mention the lack of utensils, but if you're going home that shouldn't be a problem unless you have NOTHING at home to eat with then that's not their fault. I walked by this place on a beautiful Friday evening with my bf and it caught our eye right away. The atmosphere was phenomenal and the food looked amazing which is a under statement. First off, Chef Boris's sauces are nothing less than sorcery. One in particular, an aioli I assume, was served alongside my perfectly tender rotisserie chicken and roasted plantains, and should be sold in tubs! My delicious sorrel cocktail should have a warning label because of how tasty and addictive it was! While the food is good, my favorite part of this restaurant was their outside lounge setup. There backyard was converted into an outdoor lounge consisting of communal tables, bean bags with small coffee tables, and benches surrounded by neatly kept trees!
