We absolutely love this shave ice shack and can't get enough of it. The ice is the perfect texture. The syrups are organic real fruit, nothing artificial, and absolutely delicious. The consistency of flavor is perfectly uniform, with the syrup and ice being built up by layer. A fruity icy masterpiece. Mindy, the owner, is a total delight--fully represents the Aloha Spirit--and has nailed her product and experience. Huge thumbs up. read more

We stood behind a girls softball team forever but It was worth it. Passion fruit and pineapple REAL fruit for me; just passion fruit for my hub. Even bought "alohawks" for my cards. Love kauai and shave ice at Riptide. read more

This is a quaint little shaved ice shop with a sweet lady who makes homemade syrups. They are delicious! You will not be disappointed!

I would have never thought shaved ice can be this good. It hits me in all types of ways

The service is great. The spam masubi is good. Great place to get a snack after a swim.

Takes a little while, but so worth it. Not too sweet which is great, and the nut and mochi toppings were a game changer. Would definitely recommend! read more

We stayed in Poipu this week and noticed Riptides on the first day, but somehow didn't make it over there until our last day. We are big shave ice fans and ordered it at a few different places during our stay (FYI, I wouldn't recommend ordering from Brennecke's...staff is very grumpy and unfriendly!). We popped over to Riptides after a quick snorkel and first off, met Lynda who was so happy and friendly and has an amazing personality. She made our shave ice and it by far is THE BEST shave ice we'd ever had! She has a natural menu and I got real pineapple with the imitation coconut. The pineapple has real chunks of pineapple in it!! Truly a great last day experience. If ever on this side of the Island, this is a must stop...not just for shave ice or another fun snack, but also to meet the welcoming Lynda:) read more

I will be dreaming of this shave ice for the rest of my life! No exaggeration. It is one of a kind and has ruined all others for me. Try the natural fruit purée syrups. They will not disappoint. The coconut was so creamy and the shave ice so perfectly fluffy that it tasted like ice cream. The Liliko'i (passion fruit) paired beautifully with the coconut. The pineapple is also great! Lots of delicious pineapple chunks. read more

This place has the most amazing shave ice on the island!! Don't forget the coconut cream top on the shave ice.

Incredible!!! Better than all the rest. Great customer service. She is a true artist. Best shaved ice ever. Yum yum!

Such a nice owner and great chat. On top of that the shaved ice hit the spot! Do yourself a favor and stop by for a hello and tasty treat! read more

Oh, this is a favorite of faves. Fluffy ice, delicious flavoring, and incredibly friendly ownership. It's a place where memories are made. Our son had his first root beer float here. And it was a hit! Thank you, Lynda, for making each visit so special. read more

This place was amazing! We came in the other day when Jodi was serving- it was so good we came back today- a few days later and got to meet the super friendly owner. We tried a different place yesterday that was not nearly as good. At Rip Tide all the flavors were great and made with REAL cane sugar. However, they also have REAL FRUIT shaved ice that is prepared fresh by the owner. We tried REAL passion fruit and pineapple, it was ah-maz-ing!!!! We will come again and again when we are on the South Shore of Kauai. MAHALO RIP TIDE!!! read more

Ok, so I am officially obsessed with Shave Ice. I've opted for shave ice instead of lunch the last few days and have tried quite a few locations on Kauai over our visits here this year. I don't know why I haven't tried this place before. I'm wondering if the organic fruit juice options are more recent and I tend to look for the locations that offer this. Anyways, the shave ice here was really good! The fruit juice had actual chunks of fruit in it! What?? I've been to plenty of places that put a scoop of fresh fruit on top but never a place that has it in the syrups themselves! Also, they have keiki sizes!! A huge plus for families that have a toddler that wants their own! We got pineapple and creamy coconut (mine and the keiki size) and my husband got the passion fruit and strawberry. Both combos were so yummy! Just what you'd hope for after a hot day at the beach! We had a great time enjoying our shave ice and watching the surfers across the street! read more

We tried a lot of shave ice on our recent visit to Kauai and my entire family agrees that this is the best shave ice that we tried, without question. What sets Riptides apart from all the rest, is that they not only have the very sweet syrup flavors for kids similar to what the other places carry, but they have another version--their organic shave ice-- that is made with real fruit juices (passionfruit, mango, pineapple, coconut, and strawberry), cane sugar, and fruit pulp, and it is out of this world! After we found Riptides Shave Ice, we started going there for shave ice twice a day! The owner is super nice. And an added benefit is that Riptides is located at Lawai Beach, which had the best snorkeling on the island while we were there. I can't recommend it highly enough read more

loved this place. Best shave ice we had all week! Wished we would have found it sooner!

She uses real fruit for shaved ice. It's perfect, like all she did was blend up a pineapple. The hotdogs were tasty and hit the spot so we could snorkel more across the street. The owner was super friendly and awesome prices. Definitely come here, great prices and great shaved ice. read more

Very good shave ice located in a stand by the Lawai Beach Club. Owner is very friendly and earnest.

The all natural shaved ice had great flavor but was drowning in syrup! Before we even walked away the entire shaved ice turned to juice. I think with some more practice this truck could do well though. More ice- less syrup. read more

On the way to the Spouting Horn, we made a stop at this roadside shack. Parking can be a little tough, as it is right across from the beach. My wife and I shared one, and we were happy with the size. read more

This was my first shave ice, and I was very pleased. I ordered a combo of passion and pineapple over vanilla ice cream. It was refreshing and plenty for my wife and I to share. The woman running the stand is very kind, conversational and nice to chat with. Her location is excellent, and we'll definitely return! read more

Amazing shave ice! And even better customer service! 10 out of 10 for this cute and yummy stand

Very small and unassuming kiosk but they have a wide variety of snacks and reasonably priced. We tried the shaved Ice, chili over rice and the frozen kona blend. Everything hit the spot! read more

This place was Awesome. Little shack right on the ocean. I had a Shave ice-Vanilla and Pina Colada with Ice cream oh yeah dont forget the snow cap :) The ice was perfectly delicious. Went back the next day and had the Bacon and Egg salad sandwich. OMG! loved it. The service is great and I could not find anywhere else you could eat a Shave ice and for that matter a lunch at their prices. Would highly recommend. We stayed at the Lawai Beach resort so we went to Riptides several times during our visit.
