What a disappointment. I will not be back to this place. I use to go to their place on Junction Blvd. in Corona Queens, the food there was much better. Although the owners never renovated the place in Corona. The same tables and chairs since what appeared to be before WWII. Very frugal in my opinion. Let me get back to their New Hyde park location. I had the steak with onions. It tasted like it went right from the package , on to the grill, the steak had no seasoning, zero flavor. The Beans, no flavor, the rice was cold. The ham croquets were gross, tasted like they were reheated in old oil. The sangria was awful. A total waste of money, oh BTW, it's a la carte. I am Hispanic from the Caribbean, we season our food, garlic, sofrito, sazon, adobo, etc. etc. Maybe the people from Long Island like this "Latin Food." As for me, here's a tip for Rincon Criollo, stop being frugal, season your food and prepare it with a little love. A little love goes a long way. My husband's family (a very Cuban family I might add) had been going to the location for years and sad to see it close. When they moved out to their new location we ventured in and were thrilled! The food is still just as good as it was - empanadas, Cuban sandwiches! Arroz con pollo, liver with onions, shredded beef, yuca- it's all good- don't miss the coconut mojito and coffee! The food here was delicious and the service was top-notch. We came here twice in two weeks and ordered a variety of dishes. The oxtail stew was our favorite. We had their Caldo Gallego soup and both times it was the star of the meal. The restaurant is small and quaint but very cozy. The waiters and waitresses are all very attentive and the meal came out quickly. The prices are very reasonable considering the amount we ordered. This place has quickly risen to become one of my top 3 favorite places around me. They also end every meal with a complimentary liqueur in a shot glass. A very nice touch. read more

Finally found a authentic Cuban restaurant. Even better is that this restaurant used to be in Corona for about 50 years, which unfortunately had to shut down. Food is how I remember, again authentic Cuban. Not the commercial stuff other places try to pass off as such. Had classic arroz con moros, lechon and yuca with the garlic sauce. And to finish, cortadito. Even got a Cuban sandwich and croquetas to take home. Staff was very attentive and helpful. Ambiance was like a little slice of Cuba. They served us chopped up fish in 2 inch pieces they claimed to be flounder. It was not. Thick, spongy, water logged and previously frozen it smelled of ammonia. The manager lied to our faces and said they chopped it up to make it easier to broil. He could not explain how. I ate 2 bites and complained. He took the entries off the check but left on the grease soaked cod fritter app and drink. We will never set foot in this dump again. I ordered take out because the hubby was feeling a little under the weather and didn't want to eat in, but he was excited for the oxtails he ordered. We got there right around their busiest time and we sat at the bar and they were so attentive. We waited for about 30 minutes. We live very close to this restaurant and have been watching the progress of the remodel; waiting anxiously for it to open. While walking by Friday night we noticed people inside. The owner, Rudy let us in for their soft opening, and we are glad he did. Rudy made several recommendations and order a few of them to share, along with the sampler appetizer. One thing was more delicious than the other. I definitely over did it but it was worth it. They are opening next week and we will definitely be back. Service was mediocre, didn't feel welcome; there are some restaurants that give you the warmth of welcome; this restaurant didn't give that ambiance. Probably will not recommend or go back. Amazing! Place is just opening up. The food is delicious! The location is great. The drinks are great if you like a good mojito or margarita. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They have great menu recommendations. Really good place to share food with people but you can also get your own meal. It's a small place but it doesn't feel too crowded the way the tables are set up. Highly recommend going with what the staff tells you is good if you're new to Cuban food. There's a bar which looks cool if you just want to stop in for a drink. Had a very pleasant experience all around. The place is pretty easy to walk to in the neighborhood but there's also a parking lot which is convenient. Hope this place is here to stay! read more
