Kid's Crispy Chicken Fingers

Went on Sunday for brunch, unfortunately there's no parking so you'll have to park on the street or maybe the bens crab parking lot next door. It was mostly empty so service was fast. Overall a lot of food to choose from and big portions.

Coconut Shrimp / Sangria

Palm Grill, Rockaway Ave. Our server Clarissa was personable adorable and a pleasure. We shared the Coconut shrimp appetizer which was delicious, and the Slow Braised Island Oxtail, we had it with yellow rice but had a sample of the jollof rice (next time we will have the jollof it's a little spicy), coffee and the Tiramisu. Louis is the chef, and did an outstanding job "our compliments to the chef ", Christine his wife is the pastry Chef and made a delicious Tiramisu, which was a large portion ( definitely for sharing). We had the house sangria with dinner, and coffee with Dessert. Christine and Louis are definitely doing a great job I highly recommend trying Palm Grill.

Calamari

Came here for a dinner with family on a Sunday night. We were greeted by friendly faces immediately, and were happily seated in a back table. The space was roomy, giving my toddlers enough room to move around the table. The food was very flavorful! Everything was seasoned perfectly - not too salty, not too sweet - balanced. We started out with the calamari - mixture of breaded squid rings and tentacles, fried just right to give each bit a nice crisp while keeping the bounce in the squid meat such that it wasn't chewy. It was served with lemon wedges and marinara, which complimented the simple salt seasoning. We also had coconut shrimp - these were massive jumbo shrimp fried in a crispy coconut flake coating. It was so crispy that you could bite through the tail without getting bits of shrimp shell in between your teeth. It was paired well with a creamy sauce, that complimented the shrimp's salinity. The platter itself was decorated with a beautiful flower on the plate. Lastly, we enjoyed a basket of warm tortilla chips (thin and super crispy) paired with a mortar filled to the brim with guacamole. The guacamole was simple and yet so flavorful. For the main course, my 4 yo had the chicken tenders with broccoli and apple juice. This might as well been an adult entree because the tenders were huge! The portions were definitely larger than my kid could finish - so definitely shareable. My 6 yo had the mac and cheese with a basket of fries. Same thing here - felt like an adult sized meal, it came out out a cast iron platter to keep it warm throughout the dinner. The fries were oh so crispy - thin, not like thick diner wedges, which I prefer. My wife tried jerk chicken for the first time. It was a half chicken, full of meat, seasoned with delicious spicy jerk seasoning that gave that skin a crispy saltiness to it, the balanced the juicy tender chicken meat. It was served with plantains - these were not the maduro plantains I'm used to eating, which tend to be sweet - these were more like a potato which makes sense for a savory entree. Along side the plantains was a serving of collared greens which stewed down to a consistency that reminded me of cream of spinach, but without the cream. I had the grilled salmon, which was a filet grilled medium well, seasoned with capers that accentuated the salmon's natural flavors. It paired so well with the large mound of lightly seasoned yellow rice and mixed vegetables. Finally for dessert, we could not help but order the 16 layer rainbow cake. Definitely a slice to share with a party. It's a show stopper for its height. Despite how tall it was, it was happily and surprisingly not very dense and the icing not so thick. Prices were decent and comparable to other done in restaurants. The wait staff was very attentive. Overall it was a very pleasurable dinner and would go back to try their other menu items!

Oxtails collard greens jollof rice

Everything went well!! Was our first time coming to this restaurant which we celebrating our 29th anniversary l, starting with a delicious brunch. Christine greeted us and showed us to the table of our choice. She is such a pleasant woman. She let us know her husband Louis is the chef, and we definitely tip our hats to him! The food was amazing The drinks were also spectacular. The ambience transformed us to an island with the decor as well as food options. All that we ordered was absolutely delicious. Started with Palm Leaf cocktail and Palm Grill Punch and jerk and bbq wings for appetizers. Our entrees consisted of oxtail dinner for hubby and shrimp and grits for me with an added side of collard greens. The portion sizes are perfect and I even had enough to bring home. We also ordered dessert to bring home, 12layers vanilla cake and key lime pie! Everything was awesome and clean! Will definitely be bacj with my family. I highly recommend this wonderful establishment

Second time dining here first time during Happy Hour. I did not partake in the Happy Hour menu I went straight to the dinner menu wanting to knock down some more items on my bucket list. This time around we ordered the Grilled Red Snapper and the Jerk Chicken Quesadilla and a mango tango drink (green smoothie). First came out the Mango Tango green smoothie very nice and smooth tasting drink with a touch of mint and a hint of mango. Great blend not too sweet but made just right and was perfect for this hot scorching day. Nice way to start the meal and set off the festivities to follow. The Red Snapper was juicy and cooked to perfection. I loved the buttery taste and garlic flavors well seasoned not salty at all but enough flavor to make you want to savor every little bite makes just right! I love this dish I asked for mashed potatoes instead of Jollof rice. The mashed potatoes were creamy and buttery soft and smooth made well. The house salad was great as well nice balance to the meal helped finish off the meal. I highly recommend this dish for the seafood lovers and fish lovers alike. Lastly out came the Jerk Chicken Quesadillas. Now these were the star of the show for sure melted cheese, with sweet pineapples, and purple coleslaw to boot. What a combination a match made in heaven well executed I was impressed. The condiments on the side were sour cream and a green sauce which complemented the Quesadillas very well. I recommend this dish as well if you're in the mood for Quesadillas. Oh almost forgot I ordered the tacos and ribs other times didn't write review for them but they were great as well. The best tacos to me personally are the steak ones because that meat is marinated or has a tasty sauce that compliments it well. Again I can't recommend this place enough come by for happy hour or dinner or on the weekends for brunch. You can't go wrong! They have something for everybody you won't be disappointed enjoy and tell a friend to tell a friend it's them again lol! Service is great and they are accommodating to you if you want to supplement or substitute something in your plate if it's available might cost a little extra but I'm not sure exactly. Ask they will work with you. Hope this helps!

We were planning a surprise party and the staff went above and beyond to make sure everything went off without a hitch; the coordination and attention to detail were incredible. The food was outstanding across the board, with real Caribbean flavor, clearly made with care. The rooftop ambiance set the perfect tone for the night: great vibes, beautiful setting, exactly what you want for a special occasion. But honestly, the service is what took this from great to unforgettable. The ladies working that night were amazing; warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in making our celebration special. You could tell they actually cared about giving us a great experience, not just going through the motions. If you're in NYC and looking for a spot to celebrate something special (or just want a great night out), Caribbean Soul Rooftop on Merrick Blvd needs to be on your list. It was our anniversary and we were delighted with 2 glasses of champagne . My advice , get the steak , it was out of this world ! I had a few glasses of Cabernet and my wife had the Moscow mule. Dessert was nothing short of amazing as well , I had the cheesecake and my wife had the apple cookie. The wait staff was always checking to see how we were doing and Don would come around to see how anniversary dinner came out . Great restaurant for any occasion but try to make reservation ahead of time as it's a very popular place to eat near water. Thanks for a great night Haviland !

Small, cozy spot with a great vibe !…read more Definitely recommend making reservations because it fills up quickly. The owner and his wife are usually there working and they're both so warm and welcoming. They always take the time to stop by each table to say hello and make sure everyone's happy, which really adds a personal touch you don't find often anymore. The food is consistently amazing, one of my absolute favorites is the fried burrata with honey drizzle (trust me, it's a must-try!). The cheeseburger, pasta dishes, and chicken are all incredible -- everything I've had has been a solid 10/10. You can really tell they put care into every detail, from presentation to flavor. Whether you're coming for a date night, dinner with friends, or just a nice meal out, Haviland Kitchen & Bar never disappoints. It's one of those local gems you'll keep coming back to. Thank you for the outstanding service, each and every time.
