Amazing food! I loved the Patagonia empanada so much! It was so so cheesy and the flavor was amazing. I could eat so many more of those. The spicy steak was good but I wish I could taste the olives more and it seems a bit more like ground beef than steak. The red spicy salsa wasn't spicy but had good flavor. I was SO thoroughly impressed with my meal here that I cannot deny Rincon Argentino anything less than 5 stars. The food was so fresh and delicious, it made the quick stop in Boulder completely worth it. I was able to try four of their amazing empanadas: -Carne picante - Amazing flavor and very mild in terms of "spiciness." -Pollo de chorizo - This one was my favorite. So much flavor packed into every bite. -Pollo barbacoa - Second favorite, behind the pollo de chorizo. -Hongos - Probably my least favorite in terms of flavor, but it was still really tasty. I love mushrooms! Each empanada was so amazingly flavorful, it really didn't need the chimichurri sauce, but that was excellent too. My friend and I came here after hiking. Each empanada is about $4.10 and they have a wide selection. I chose their traditional and hongo (mushroom) one and absolutely enjoyed it. They are made on the spot, so it can take some time before you get your order, but it is well worth the wait. You also get a side of chili (with different levels of spiciness) to dip your empanadas in and it definitely gave the food more of a punch. Plenty of seatings both inside and outside are available. Parking is quite small, but there is a big parking lot behind the store. Because there are so many different types of empanadas, they have a diagram of which empanadas is which! This place is so good! We tried the caprese, Patagonia, criolla, and carne picante empanadas. For sauces, we went with the chimichurri and salsa verde. While waiting in line to go inside, someone suggested that we try the terere drink, so we also ordered that. Once we paid, I was given a cup to get some terere, which has iced yerba mate, orange juice, lemons, mint, and agave. It was pretty interesting! It does have an acquired taste, so my friend didn't care for it very much. We both enjoyed the empanadas a lot though. I'm glad that they reheated it in the oven as well. My favorites were definitely the criolla and carne picante because I love anything spicy and beefy. This was a great counter service spot! Cashier was wonderful, very happy & polite offering me her top 2 favorites of empanadas! There was plenty of seating and space in the restaurant. They had plenty of drink options w/ fountain soda & had fresh Yerba mate which I was not able to try this time around. After reading the great reviews of the empanadas here, I knew I needed to try them when we visited Boulder. Covid-19: you can order and pay online. They also offer curbside pickup. My husband and I split 4 empanadas and a choripan sandwich. The empanadas we tried were Carne Picante, Jamón y Queso, Choclo, and Caprese. I think the Choclo was my favorite. It was this creamy corn sauce that was amazingly delicious. I also loved the Jamón y Queso and the Caprese. The Carne Picante was good, but I love cheese so I preferred those with cheese. I really loved the choripan sandwich as well. It was simple and surprisingly delicious. My favorite sauces were chimichiri and salsa verde. We also got flan and an Alfajor cookie for dessert. The cookie was amazing, but it's one tiny cookie for $3.50. My only complaint was the portion size/price. Everyone said 2-3 empanadas was enough, but we were both still hungry. They were very small so $4 seemed kind of expensive. After spending $16-20 per person, for a meal, I would expect to be full. The Empanadas: -The choclo was creamy with a touch of sweetness. Very flavorful with hints of spice and savory notes. -Patagonia. Tastes like a pizza and I love pizza. It has basil, garlic, parmesan, and tomato. -Traditional. No words, just Mmmm... Yerba mate: Super strong and bitter. The wooden cup kept leaking each time we poured more hot water. Makes me wonder how often they check and/or clean the cups. In the end, we got a to-go cup. Service: Not fast with so many people behind the counter. About a 15-minute wait for 3 empanadas but it's made to order. The space: The entrance doors were wide open, which is nice for better air circulation. Masks required indoors unless you're eating. I was SO excited to finally try Rincon because I am obsessed with empanadas! However, I was really disappointed with the food. I got the gaucho, patagonia, carne picante, hongos, and jamón y queso. The patagonia was by far the best and very delicious. The hongos (mushroom) one was okay but definitely needed the side sauce with it. The jamón y queso (ham and cheese) was okay but had one small slice of ham in it and the rest was filled with cheese and I ended up taking out over half of the cheese that was inside because it was too much. I was really disappointed with the gaucho and carne picante, they just weren't very good and my two friends agreed with me. Overall we were pretty disappointed with our experience. read more

Ordered the two vegan options (spinach & mushroom), and I tried my friend's corn/cheese empanada. It seems like the vegan/vegetarian options are open-faced empanadas, which I'm sure is for a good reason (maybe easier to tell them apart?) but I wish they were folded traditionally like the meat options. 1) The open-faced ones were quite difficult to eat, unlike a normal empanada, and 2) the dough was so yummy I wanted more! The spinach one was quite bland, actually. I'm grateful for the vegan option but it really tasted like salt was the only seasoning used, and very little salt at that. The mushroom one was much better seasoned, and the mushrooms were not over cooked or soggy; they had a good bite to them and did not make the dough soggy either. Empanada heaven! We visit Boulder every year and every year we return to Rincon Argentino. Friendly staff, awesome food and great service. We have tried almost every empanada on the menu. Two of my favorites are the tomato mozzarella and the spicy chicken. The three mini desert empanadas are not worth the money $6.85 for truly tiny tiny empanadas with minuscule amounts of filling. Pass on this an opt for one of their pastries. This reminds me of a little Empanada Mama in Hells Kitchen. Not quite the variety but the same quality. A must if you are in Boulder. read more
