I had an assortment of Empanadas. They were ok. The meat was a bit flavorless and tough. It felt like there wasn't enough meat either. Staff was friendly, and quick. I tried it at a co-workers going away get together. I expected more flavor to be honest, and more meat... especially at what the charge per Empanada... then again this is Boulder. It was purely luck that I moved into a place where Rincon Argentino is on my way to work, but it's the best decision I've made recently. This place has everything you could ask for from a casual spot - great food, lots of variety, reasonably priced, good service, nice atmosphere, and soccer on TV every day. The menu features a huge spread of empanada choices that will have something (probably many things) for anyone, along with some great sandwich and dessert options if you want a change of pace. My personal favorites are the ground beef, spicy chicken, caprese and spinach, but I've gone through the whole menu and never had a bad option. I eat here 4-5 times a week and frankly it's not often enough. Negatives? Well, on any given day the dough ranges from great to perfect. That doesn't sound so bad, but once you've had perfect you'll miss it on the days it's only great! read more

Not a bad place to grab some tasty noms. However, it does take some time for the food to come out + seating is limited + parking is a little monster, so if you have time constraints (aka you're here on your lunch hour), then this may not be your #1 choice. Further, if you're a pig like me and you require 4 empanadas to feel full, your wallet may not be too pleased either. With that said, the food is delicious. Dee-lee-shus. We were so looking forward to Cuba Cuba and when we went there it was gone! So disappointed. This place was in same shopping center so we decided to give it a try. It only serves empanadas but does have a couple of gluten free meat pies. I must say the spicy steak and spicy chicken empanadas were very good and filled with a generous portion of meat (3.65 each). Jim ordered an argentine sausage sandwich - big enough that he couldn't finish it. Carol had the gluten free chicken pie - she said the sauce served with it was perfect. I also had a tomatoes and hearts of palm salad (4.50) & they asked if with lettuce - said yes - another $1 which surprised me. Know Fs split a chicken empanadas. Being Argentinean this was a great surprise while looking for a place to get lunch. We have tried many Argentinean food in our road trips around the US, and I have to say that this is the first time I was able to get a taste from home! The empanadas were absolutely delicious, the chimichurri was a little bit spicy for my taste, still very flavorful and tasty, and the alfajores super delicious as well. We also got a pasta frola, but we haven't taste it yet, I'm pretty sure it will be delicious as well. Oh I almost forgot, they also have terere!! I was overjoyed by this! Another thing I loved about this place is the ambiance, very Argentinean and super welcoming, and I really appreciate that they play Argentinean music! read more

My first visit to Rincon Argentino was about 3 weeks ago. Since then I have returned enough times to have literally tried everything on the menu. The empanadas are obviously the big draw. The pastry crust is perfect. Its not flabby like most awful empanadas I've had. It's also not pie-crust-style, which tends to be a bit too greasy for me (and clearly inauthentic, *judgmental gaze*). Its a delicious lightly crispy pastry, with excellent fillings. They have a variety of meat and vegetarian fillings. I personally enjoyed the carne picante (spicyy steak) best, but they have have picadillo-type fillings with ground meat, as well as several varieties of chicken, barbecue, and ham fillings. The vegetable fillings lean a bit toward the Italian influence. Lots of mozzorella and tomato combinations. The wild mushroom is my favorite of the vegetarian set. The sandwiches also steer Italian in character. There are several milanesa-style steak sandwiches -- some with marinara, some without, some with ham, mostly all with mozzarella. All are delicious. The choripan is a purely Argentinian sandwich, with a fresh chorizo sausage, and was my favorite of the bunch. Except for the choripan, the sandwiches tend to be large and require nothing on the side. However, I subscribe to the Taco Bell philosohy of side dishes (i.e. a burrito with a side of tacos) and always get an empanada or two. The choripan needs it in my opinion (a bit small to fill you up without anything else), and ordering a couple with a milanesa sandwich will allow you to take half of the sandwich home for lunch the next day. Combine the excellent empanadas and sandwiches with great desserts (the quince tart, when available is wonderful) and the fact that its a casual place that gets you your food withing 7 minutes of walking in the door, and Rincon Argentino is one of my go-to dinner places in Boulder. read more

Estas empanadas son increíbles! Without a doubt, these are the best empanadas I have ever had. I came here with the Boulder UYE Lunch Group, and am glad that I did. There are a lot of choices on the menu. I opted for a 2-4-6 combo. That is to say, I had a CARNE PICANTE (spicy steak, onions, green onions, red bell peppers, jalapeño and green olives), a CRIOLLA (Spicy ground beef, carmelized onions, red bell peppers, green olives, spices), and a POLLO PICANTE (spicy chicken, chili, garlic, onion and spices). The steak was my favorite. The meat was heavily seasoned and surprisingly spicy. The texture on it was great. The spicy ground beef one was almost as good. It was a bit less spicy and more messy to eat. The chicken one was okay. There was a lot of meat in it, but it was somewhat dry white meat. I did not love the texture of that one either. But, it was still okay. The crust on all of these was outstanding. It was light, flaky, and charred just the right amount. It was not the sodden and greasy crust you get at certain other places. Also, these fillings were bursting with character and each one had a specific flavor profile. These did not at all seem like "cookie cutter" empanadas where they all taste about the same. I also ordered a couple extra salsas so that I could try all three (you get one free one with every three empanadas ordered). The Salsa Verde (avocado, jalapeno, cilantro and spices) was fine. The Asado Sauce (tomato, cayenne pepper, and spices) was excellent (smoky and spicy). And the Chimichurri was oily, herbaceous, and delicious. The empanadas run $3.20 each. Two of them make a nice light lunch, three of them are a hearty order. This is definitely on my go-to list the next time I make it up to Boulder. read more

Hello, my name is MaryBeth and it's been 5 days since my last Rincon Argentino empanada. I'm pretty sure that the friendly folks at Rincon are adding a little something special to their secret spice blends that is creating a severe addictive reaction in me. I can't stay away. I plan meetings in that area that end at noon just so I can have lunch at Rincon. I order large quantities to "share" at home. I make friends meet me there for lunch even though there is a perfectly good cafe half a mile from the office. Oh my. I have a problem. Favorites are the gaucho and the corn. I resisted trying the corn for several weeks (mainly because I was so addicted to the gaucho), but while getting 3 dozen to go (yes, 3 dozen....) I asked the nice woman behind the counter what her favorite flavor was, and.....corn! There is something culinarily seductive about this particular blend of caramelized onions and creamy corn that has me hooked. The venue is a bit small for the winter crowds, but patrons are pretty good about moving on shortly after they've eaten so others might enjoy a seat. Ordering at the counter certainly helps keep table turnover high. Anyone want to meet me there tomorrow for lunch? ;-) read more

I have wanted to try this place ever since I read Ashley B's glowing review and so tonight was the night that we were definitely in the mood for some empanadas! We ordered six empanadas for $17 - two chicken (with green olives, my favorite), a caprese (open-faced mozzarella, basil and cherry tomato) and the ham and cheese. The pastry is light and flaky, almost like a puff pastry, and the fillings were tasty and very satisfying. The portions aren't huge but there is definitely a lot of flavor here. I like the idea of ordering mini empanadas for a party. I'm also looking forward to trying the mate some day between 2pm and 4pm. Apparently it's authentically served in a gourd! We had the chimichurri sauce, a mild, oil-based condiment that soaks nicely into the soft, pillowy empanadas and adds a nice flavor punch. The salsa verde has more sizzle and is a lovely, smooth green blend of avocado and jalapeno. A delicious addition to our usual Boulder dining scene. read more

There's a Rincon Chileno in LA. It's OK. Rincon Argentino is better! There are so many ways in which this place shines, from how they carefully shape all their empanadas differently so there's not the whole problem where each one is an unsolved mystery until you bite into it... to how their three sauces are all entirely different and entirely delicious... to how even their most simple empanadas - cheese and onion! - burst with flavor. My favorite was probably either the pollo barbacoa or the hongos. read more

We've lived in the southern cone of South America and are big empanada fans. This little hole in the wall -- not quite that small, as there was once upon a time on Pearl St. mall -- is very genuine! The empanadas are absolutely delish, your more refined Gringo/a palate can find gluten free goodies, the staff are very cheerful and friendly and it has a true Latin atmosphere. You can do take-out too, which is a real crowd pleaser at a party, meeting. There's even a whole wall of Maté teas for sale! However, if you're looking for Wi-Fi while you devour your lunch, "lo siento -- no hay". Nonetheless, you'll still see the cool young folk of Boulder flocking there. Caveat: don't go when in a hurry. I ordered celebratory delivery and couldn't have been happier. Delivery was prompt and the prices are more than fair considering these empanadas are humongous! I ordered the regular beef (gaucho), spicy ground beef (criolla, although I got spicy steak instead, which was not a problem for me), and regular chicken (pollo). The chicken was lighter and the green olives added a nice subtle tang. The spicy steak was delicious but definitely kept getting spicier and spicier (yummy but I had to take a few breaks). The regular ground beef was my favorite--incredibly flavorful, delicious with or without their chimichurri, and it had the crust-sealing pattern that was easiest to hold on to. My only regret is that I ordered three instead of six. But like I said, these are huge, so maybe it's a good thing I exercised some restraint. I also ordered the heart of palm salad which turned out to be not the salad I'm more familiar with from Costa Rica, but an Argentine twist on a caprese. Pretty darn good! And a good counterpoint to the rich, savory empanadas. After I placed my order I called back to add something...I saw that they sell alfajors (sort of a sandwich/layer cookie with layers of dulce de leche between and then covered in chocolate)! I haven't had one since I was actually in Buenos Aires. It was as good as I remembered! I will definitely order/go to this restaurant again! ...and probably really soon. read more

I was dating a fellow from Buenos Aires, and it was with some hesitation I took him here to try the empanadas. You know how that is; nothing measures up to the homeland. But he was very happy with it (of course adding that his aunt's are better, as required)... I personally love them. There's one that has raisins and spices, that's my favorite, though they're all good. Once I decided to spring for a sandwich, and that was tasty too. And it's always fun to have an alfajor, that beloved concoction of the Argentines. When I went to Argentina for a few months, I thought I'd be ruined for Rincon Argentino... surely I would find much better down there. Well, I ate empanadas like crazy, and to my disappointment, I never found any as good. And this is after daily consumption, for two months. Yes, they were good, but not *as* good. I've even stood around in a kitchen helping fold these little buggers from scratch, and even they weren't as good. When I got back, I told my (now ex) BF that I didn't find any as tasty as this place, and he was like, yes, they're really good. He wasn't surprised. My dad lived in Argentina for two years when he was in his twenties, so after planning a day in Boulder with him and researching eateries, I came across Rincon Argentino. We had a large group (there were 10 of us) but there was plenty of seating for us between the outdoor patio and the few tables inside. We ordered two dozen empanadas, trying as many kinds as possible. You cannot go wrong as long as you order the empanadas!! Seriously delicious and proclaimed by my father as the best he's ever had in the states. My favorite was the Patagonia, followed closely behind by the spicy ground beef. Others loved the BBQ chicken & caprese. Each one was delicious, just some appealed to me more than others. Staff was really helpful and took the time to suggest things we might like. Pretty good! Best part were the awesome, professional employees, who were helpful, informative, and cheerful. You place your order at the register, give your name, get directed to where the soda fountain is, and then they find you wherever you've seated yourself a few minutes later with your meal, which they verify is accurate and helpfully point out which empanada is which. Fast service! Most of the empanadas had peppers in them, which I was trying to avoid since my stomach was already messed up. I had the barbarosa? (#8) and the caprese (#10) and both were great. I got one of the spicier salsas, which had a bit of burn but not overwhelming unless you thought it was a good idea to eat it by itself. The empanada are not very big, but the small size means they don't fall apart as you eat! Try a few different ones! They are located in the same building as Great Harvest Bread, on the side facing Folsom. Parking immediately around the building is tight and awkward, but I parked over by McGuckin's (since I was going there anyway) and it was a very brief walk to it. I never noticed the place before, so I'm glad I finally discovered it. I shop in this area a lot, so now I know a good place to stop for lunch! read more

Might be the world's best empanadas. Empanadas are baked to perfection and each type has its own shape so you can tell them apart. Really nice variety of empanadas. The salsas are amazing too. I really like the super spicy red one, but the chimichuri is great, so you should probably also try that one too.
