Without this shop our Moab trip would have gone off the rails! Sasha works there and guides too. He noticed on our ride that one dropper post cable needed replacing on a Tue at 5:00pm. He called ahead, we dropped it off and it was done for very little cost in an hour. Next am we noticed bad wear on a tire, brought it right by, and were out the door in 30 min with a new one. We talked trails and headed off. 2 hours later we hit mud on Jimmy Keen, had service to call them and they confirmed heading back was best option. We needed to clean the bikes so they offered hose, soap, bucket, brushes with a smile! Make this your go to shop, they are good people and it shows. read more

The bikes here were good but the people weren't. The person who helped me pick out a trail to bike on didn't look like she'd ever ridden bike before. When the day was over I got a twenty dollar fine for normal wear and tear on the brakes. When I asked about why they said "well you took it on one of the hardest trails and you broke it, so you buy it." It wasn't broken, they suggested going on that trail, and I want my $20 back! read more

Great local shop. Customer service beyond exceptional. Needed a spoke. Nobody in town was able to help. Called Rim and they suggested a temp fix. They made me a spoke and did it after the shop had closed for the night. Saved my week of riding. Great job! read more

We had such a positive experience here! Austin was so helpful and very knowledgeable and not to forget super friendly. The prices for their mountain bike rentals were very reasonable and my friend got a very nice ride! The service was supurb...they did a one over on my own mountain bike before we hit the trails and putting on new pedals at no additional charge. They are not right off Main Street so it is likely they will actually have a bike to rent on a busy weekend. However they are easy to find...just one block off the main drag. This is the second time I have been with friends that have rented from this store and in the future I will not send anyone elsewhere. read more

Definitely a 5 star shop with an amazing staff. They went above and beyond with helping us plan our day trip to Porcupine trail. Showed us the map, booked inexpensive transportation, fixed the seats and pedals on our bikes. We rented a very nice bike from here with no complications. We also rented a rack. Prices were very fair. I highly recommend this shop over other shops in town. They really took care of us. Rent a road bike; friendly staff, help with bike paths.

I rented a Stumpy FSR for Porcupine Rim. The bike was fine for the ride, but the service left a lot to be desired. I reserved over a week ahead of time (with a credit card), but it was obvious they weren't ready for me when I came in to pick up the bike. Waited around for more than a half hour. Got charged a late fee for getting the bike back after 5 (even though I waited around longer for them to get the bike). Super unfriendly. Got upset with me that I tightened the through axle a quarter turn too much (even though before I left with the bike I was told to check the through axles periodically on my ride to make sure they were tight because they loosen up on hard rides). Not helpful fixing a headset issue on my other bike. Took my bike to Poison Spider the next morning and it was a night and day difference. Seemed like they wanted my business and wanted to help. PS had my bike in a stand and fixed in 15 minutes and I was on my way to Mag 7. Maybe I just hit Rim Cyclery on the wrong day (everyone has off days), but that was the poorest customer service I've ever had from a bike shop. But hey, the bike worked great and my first time on Porcupine Rim was an absolute blast. read more

I had a bad experience with Poison Spider a couple years back, and I thought all Moab bike shops treated non-locals the same way...was I wrong! This place ROCKS. Busted a rear derailleur at Thunder Mountain the day before, and had a ride at Slickrock planned for the next day. Brought the bike in, the repair was FAST, the staff is knowledgable and very friendly, and I was up and running in a matter of hours. The shop is off the main drag, so it's a lot more mellow and has a laid-back feel. It also makes it not as busy, but that needs to change-these guys are the bomb!!! Bought some swag from them to advertise some good guys. read more

Very friendly and accommodating staff. I was taking 3 kids on the Whole Enchilada and they set us up with bikes and helped us arrange a shuttle. We didn't get back before closing so returned the bikes the next morning and they didn't charge us for an additional day. Because they are off the main drag they are less busy. The quality of customer service has me constantly returning to Rim wether I am just filling my tires with air for a ride, renting skies/bike, or making a purchase. They have done so many repairs for me and my friends and never make us feel stupid for asking silly questions or not knowing easy maintenance for our bikes. I've been to the other shops in town and Rim surpasses them all with quality of customer service and repairs. read more

Incompetent mechanic. I gave my daughter a pair of Avid Juicy 5 disk brakes to replace the lousy Hayes 9 brakes that came with the bike. At first the mechanic quoted her $30 to install - which seemed reasonable. Then when picking it up he told her he had to disassemble the cable to the rear to be able to route it properly, so charged her another $15 to bleed the brake. Seems like he might have been able to figure this out to begin with, but whatever. Anyway, after one ride, I go out to visit her and we go riding on an easy trail. The rear lever has only a cm of travel, and the front lever goes all the way to the hand grip without applying full braking, but its an easy trail so I don't sweat it. (plus I didn't have the 2 mm hex key needed to adjust the travel). After a few miles, her rear caliper fell off, and the bolts were not to be found. I guess they never heard of Loc-tite at Rim Cyclery, or torquing the bolts to the proper amount. I know bolts get loose, but after one ride? I was able to make a field repair by borrowing one of the bolts off the front caliper to get her home, but was not happy with the shoddy job done. It took me a whole 30 minutes to reinstall her calipers properly and adjust her levers so they'd have equal amounts of travel. I hate paying a "professional" to do a job that even my meager mechanic skills can outdo. read more

I rented a bike (not a mountain bike) from Rim Cyclery in 2015 when I was on vacation in Moab. The bike and helmet were great. However, customer service was the problem. They had no trail system maps for the town or the area, which was surprising and frustrating. Also, they seem to be extremely understaffed on weekends, so you feel very rushed and as if you are bothering them. I would try elsewhere in the future. read more

I needed some repairs and tune up done on a couple bikes, they took me right in and $30 later for two bikes I was done for a minimum. Don't know about their parts, but labor was cheap and done right. No BS trying to sell me necessary parts either. Very honest. read more

We just got back from a fantastic trip to Moab, a success largely because of the great treatment we received at Rim Cyclery. Not only were they super helpful with "no pay" goods like information on trails, directions, and places to eat, but they set us up with an awesome repair after a crank failure 1/2hr into our first ride. Joel did a first rate job in taking care of the bike and the whole staff made us feel welcome and appreciated. We're used to the "on bended knee" elitism of bike shops in Boulder and couldn't have been happier with Rim. We might just have to come visit these guys when we have issues at home in the future! The bike was great and I had a good time. However, I was charged $10 to have the front tire trued at the end even though it was only slightly out of alignment. It took all but 3 minutes to do but the employee insisted on an additional charge and was pretty rude about it. I witnessed another customer get charged for the same thing. I would bet this shop takes advantage of every opportunity to charge for stuff like this. I was very careful with the bike and took it easy on the trails so I'm kind of annoyed. We just rented bikes from them for our wives to go on the Gemini Bridges ride. When we rented from them , we got the very long spiel on how valuable the frames of these bikes are and to treat them with "kid gloves". We were warned that they charged for damage on the bikes and told that they were due back by 5. We left their shop after 1 and returned at 5:20. my wife's bike was not set up for her weight and her front fork totally compressed with every little bump making it dangerous for her to ride. We returned the bikes at 5:20 and were charged $10.00 per bike late fees. ( We returned other kids bikes we rented from to Chile Pepper at 5:45 and weren't charged late fees) The guys there washed the bikes and went over them with a fine tooth comb , they found a nick out of the paint on the underside of the frame of my wife's bike and charged us another $20 to touch it up ! I have no idea if it was there before I rented from them as they didn't ask me to inspect it before we took them out .They told me that they "paint every bike before it goes out " and the damage couldn't have been there. It became very clear that this was another profit center for the shop and I quit arguing over this. Avoid this shop , they are like the mechanic who will find 5 other things more that the original problem you come in for ! read more

We went to two other stores on one morning in June 2012 and they had either a very poor selection of bikes and/or poor customer service. I rented a bike from Rim Cyclery Nov. 2 2013 for the second time this year and forth time overall. Every time I'd been in until now, things went great and it's kept me coming back. This weekend however I was unimpressed by the customer service and am writing to say so. Friday night I dropped by to get the paper work and bike ready for pick up Saturday morning. Nine am Saturday rolled around and the employee was five minutes late and didn't bother to open the front door until ten after. It wasn't a huge deal obviously, just annoying when friends are waiting on you. When she did open up she let me grab the bike and I was out the door the very next moment, which was nice. The bike also handled great and was set up perfectly by the staff the night before. When I got back to the shop at 5:25 pm a heavier set female informed me I owed 10 bucks extra for being late and they would have to stay open later than 6 pm (closing time) to tune and wash the bike I'd just brought back. I let her know the shop opened late and asked if we could call it even. She got very defensive and said they only opened two minutes late and knew so because she was on the phone with the girl that arrived to open up that morning. It was funny because I was there staring at my phone and she arrived at 9:05 and opened the front door at 9:10 but the employee was sure she knew best. Anyways, she was pretty insistent that I had caused a major delay in the shop closing on time and I needed to pay. Also, this was funny because I was the only person in the shop and they were just standing around, not busy at all. Afterward, while outside, I watched a guy tune/wash the bike and it took him all of ten minutes. Is ten bucks really worth my repeat business, that of my friends and the people that are going to read this review online? I really doubt it. read more

The worst customer service I've ever experienced. I thought the first time might be someone having a bad day but the second time was worse. Stopped in for parts as they are the only specialized dealer in town. Service tech was the most self righteous prick I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with in the bike industry. One word answers and refused to even look at my bike. I only needed a screw. As a local I'm embarrassed that people like this are the face of Moab to visiting riders. Do yourself a favor and visit one of the other bike shops in town with friendly staff that appreciates your business. read more

I took my sons bike in to have a new tire and slime tube installed ( that was bought there a week before ) when I got there I went ahead and bought a matching front to be installed at the same time. A few days later the rear tire (with new slime tube) had gone flat, took the bike back to have the problem looked at, left it overnight. The next day they text me it was ready. They said the tube was pinched when aired up (by them) they were the people that aired up the tires. So long story short, they ( DID NOT WARRANTY THEIR OWN WORK ) They billed me for a new tube plus labor. I will never buy anything else from them, there are to many bike shops in the area to receive service like that. read more
