After the North Park Book Fair my friends and I were pretty hungry and because it was so hot decided that Riki Sushi would be a good choice. My friend Heidi recommended it because she and a friend really liked it so I was so excited to check it out. When we came in we were the only guests, but that was fine with us, our server was really nice and patient. I ended up ordering the Chicken Teriyaki bento box which included, salad, a California roll, miso soup, shrimp tempura and sweet potato tempura, I opted to upgrade my roll to shrimp tempura roll. While waiting for the food we were vibing to the music, I really want to know what what playlist they use! Our miso arrived first, the soup even in the heat was perfect, it's pretty hard to mess up miso soup. Our food came out pretty quickly after that, I always eat the sides first prior to the main entree. I really liked my salad and the dressing it came with, it was light and refreshing. My sushi roll was pretty tasty too and the chicken teriyaki was just right. I appreciate that the chicken was grilled and wasn't overly sauced. Also they give you two pieces of shrimp tempura and sweet potato which was really nice, I've gone to places and they only give you one shrimp and random veggie tempura, so I really appreciate it. I love tempura sweet potato so I was definitely full from the sides that I got to take home leftovers. Later at night my husband ate my left overs and liked it too! Would definitely come back, it definitely satiated my craving and the service was fast and efficient, as we were leaving it got busier and busier but our server was still super attentive!

Came here with my mans and my best friend and we loved it!!! The sushi was amazing, especially the summer roll. The prices are really good too for what you get! We ordered a little bit of everything: bulgogi yakisoba, karaage, miso, cucumber salad, seaweed salad, 5 different rolls and the nigiri. Miso was great, and rolls were delish. I will say the service is a little slow but nothing too crazy as it was pretty busy when we got here. Definitely coming back and can't wait to try more things on the menu :)

Love this spot so much. The waitress and waiter are always amazing. Great food, great restaurant. Great prices definitely recommend!

I come here at least 1-2 times a month. The service is great and the sushi even better. Parking is always a hit or miss in North Park but it's worth it. I'm not a fan of krab so I've pretty much tried all the rolls without krab in it. I think you can substitute some types of fish if you ask. My go to rolls are: Yellowtail Special, Hillcrest, Washington, and Leo Loves Me Long Time. I also love getting the Nigiri Combo or a Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box. You really can't go wrong with anything. I love this place. Vibes are great. I usually come here with a friend or eat by myself. I highly recommend.

Have still been on the hunt for a good casual sushi spot and Riki is making it into the rotation! Stopped by on a Sunday night around 6 pm, and the place was busy but no wait for 2. It's spacious and clean, and service is quick. Most importantly, the rolls were all fresh and delicious! We got the spicy salmon (not very spicy, but solid), Big Bang (escolar, spicy scallops, and jalapeños- very yummy), and the Girls Night (bluefin tuna was where I stopped reading - the favorite of the night). Interesting diversity of fish and roll composition, and great quality, generous amounts of fish for reasonable prices = a win x4! The drink specials are fantastic too, with the beer + sake combos that are available all the time - Riki checks all the boxes and then some!

Riki Sushi is a solid spot for sushi, especially if you're in the area. The quality is decent--not bad by any means--but compared to other sushi spots in San Diego, it doesn't quite stand out for me. That said, I live nearby, so whenever we're craving sushi, this is usually where we end up out of convenience. If you're in the neighborhood and looking for a reliable sushi spot, it's worth checking out. Just not a place I'd go out of my way for.

Been here a few times and all were good experiences. Smaller place with not too long of a wait, prices are good and the portions are big. Lots of options and specials that they have. Would go back for sure. The spicy garlic edamame was probably my favorite thing so far.

Small little restaurant but it can hold a good amount of customers. Service was good. Tables and chairs could be cleaned a little more. I pulled the chair out to sit and there was sticky stuff on it where your back would be (chair has like opening on them not a full closed back chair). Had to go wash my hand. Sushi rolls seemed to be fairly priced but at least for tonight most of the items were bland. Spicy items didn't have a hint of spice to them. Presentation is average. Miso soup was only broth (no seaweed or tofu bits). Overall, it was alright but I wouldn't come again.

Came on a Saturday afternoon with a group of five. It was already quite packed by 4 PM. There were only two staff members handling both orders and service, so the wait time was fairly long. The food was just okay--nothing special, but reasonably priced. Service was fine given how busy it was. Parking was a bit difficult to find in the area.

I've been to riki sushi a couple times now and the quality of the food is always very consistent! the sushi is delicious and when ordering hot items they come out HOT!! no lukewarm items so you know its fresh! The service is pretty good I'd say they're very attentive and try to get you sat as soon as possible even if they're busy. its a casual setting with walk in only so id recommend coming in the early afternoon because they tend to get busy in the evening so keep that in mind

Riki was Fireee!!! Tucked away on 30th St. right next door to The Office Bar. Vibes were off the hook! Walked up and was seated immediately. They were not very busy for a Saturday, so thats probably why. They had really good music playing, and the place was nice and clean. Our server was super nice. She helped me create a sushi roll to my likings. She could have totally acted like most servers and gave me attitude for wanting what I want but she didnt. Everything I asked for she delivered! The food was amazing! I always try a bunch of different things to get a feel of the menu. Everything we ordered was bomb!! Sushi, Kaarge, Salad , Gyoza etc... so good!! We left out of the place super happy and super full! Definitely will be returning to this place! It was some of the best sushi Ive ever had! JB Recommended

This is one of my top go to sushi spots in SD! Yummy, reasonable and fresh! They have a great sake and beer special too, all day everyday

My ONLY complaint is NOISE. Been coming here for years as a long time resident of North Park. Remarkably I think the food has gotten better and the presentation has improved to become beautiful. But PLEASE install some sound dampening panels or rugs. We are yelling at one another at the table and it's headache inducing. that being said..: we will return

Included to choose from: specialty and basic rolls, hand rolls, basic udon, miso soup, calamari, etc. Best if with a group to share so nothing goes to waste if you don't like something. Our group of four left satisfied. Value: Four adults without drinks came to about $180 before tip. It's pricey but considering it's fresh sushi made to order and not generic rolls left on a counter like other buffets I think it warrants the higher price. Be advised adding sashimi is an additional ~$13. Service: Very quick to take orders, bring out food (fried/baked will take longer), fill waters and give the bill when ready. Excellent. Interior: Very clean, modern, and my guest was able to watch the padres game while we ate. Overall: If you're willing to spend over $40 on quality sushi, you'll love it here. Called Chef Jun to confirm if we needed a reservation here, but they said they had tables available since we were planning on being there in 10-15 minutes. We walked in and were immediately greeted by the girls up front and sat at a nice table outside on the back patio. We ordered the chef's choice sashimi, poke, beer, and green grape soju. I ended up asking for lemonade too to mix with my soju since I rarely drink and do not like the taste of alcohol lol. The food was absolutely delicious, I wouldn't have changed anything about our meal! We left satisfied and were so impressed with the sashimi variety we were served. The theme of Sushi MARU is truly attention to detail, and that extends from arrival, to service, to, of course, the food. Staff were incredibly attentive and easy to talk to, including the chefs. The food, I will comment on just generally as the menu is constantly changing (as is the case with many omakase): each dish was composed of pieces that complemented each other well and created a cohesive flavor pallette. Each nigiri was artfully prepared that emphased the quality and cut of the fish, and were complemented by flavors to further highlight that. The flow of the evening was non-traditional omakase, but it felt perfect. Price ($180pp) is not for the faint of heart, but is cheaper than others I've seen. Made the reservatiin online at the beginning of March for an omakase seating in April to celebrate husband's bday. They had a 5:15pm seating on a weekday at the sushi counter. Other options are the table and outside patio, however, for omakase, I always prefer the counter/bar. Unlike other omakase restaurants, Soichi offers their full vs petite vs nigiri only omakases at variable times (not limited to 2 seating times like others). You can also enjoy any of these omakases or order a la carte or both at the tables and outside patio also. The ambiance is bright and full of energy. Can get a bit loud with people talking, but didn't bother me. Parking is street parking. No designated lot. We found one a little down the street and walked over, which worked out. There is a park down the street and street parking around it. I recommend arriving earlier to find parking though, just in case. Restaurant is small inside, but clean and cozy. We arrived 15min early, and they seated us. The staff were all friendly. They all spoke Japanese to each other, which also felt more authentic. Our omakase chef was Daniel today. He was very nice, friendly, professional, and skilled. When we had questions, he answered them promptly and kindly. He also checked in with us to ensure the ratio of rice and sashimi was OK for us (of course it was). They served on unique plates too. Everything tasted so fresh and smooth. Some items were also unique compared to other omakase restaurants. The chawanmushj was also piping hot when served, so it also tasted fresh. They have barley tea here too and not just green tea. They offer a la carte at the end of the omakase course if we like, but I was too full. My husband ordered a tuna maki roll, which he thought tasted great. The dessert was also yum! Hojicha ice cream was very tasty! I recommend! They sang the happy bday song for the bday folks, where the senior chef (perhaps the owner?) played the ukelele/guitar and sang happy bday with the rest of us guests. Thought that was really neat. I recommend Soichi! Shout out to Chef Daniel!

The service and partnership between the sushi chef and the wait staff was fantastic and every interaction was well thought out. The appetizer wasn't my cup of tea, but the sashimi, nigiri, grilled fish, chawanmushi were really good. The assortment of fish (at least for this season) wasn't my favorite (featuring sardines, mackerel, etc.) when I would have loved some yellowtail and salmon belly. We ordered a negitoro cut roll a la carte because we were still a little hungry - this was super tasty as the quality of the tuna/toro is top notch. For dessert, they had 4 flavors of homemade ice cream to pick from. The sesame was incredible and the roasted green tea really good too. I feel like most of the omakase I've been to have 2-3 seating for dinner, so all the customers for that time arrive at the same time and everyone is at the same point of the omakase. At Soichi, it seems like each party has their reservation at a different time (4:30, 4:45, 5:00, etc.) so each group is at a different part of their meal, not to mention some parties that ordered a la carte or a different omakase menu (sushi only option, etc.) As a result, the chef is bouncing around working on a bunch of different items, and we had to wait quite a bit for each of our nigiri courses. The whole meal took 2.5 hours. We also felt less of that group vibe with other parties that is common in other omakases. Overall, we still had a really lovely time and glad we got to try it!,

Three course for $65…read more We ordered: 1st -Chicken karaage - hard crunch just straight up fried chicken skin and chicken jerky due to the dryness. No flavor unless you dip. It was like eating chicharron. -Egg plant skewers - Couldn't tell it wasn't meat, it had the firm and tender texture with Unami flavors. 2nd -Rock shrimp tempura - this would taste better with rice. Almost like honey walnut shrimp. Ate like 3 and got full. Too much batter. -Big eye tuna tataki - nothing stood out 3rd -Surf and turf roll - by the time we got this dish, we were already disappointed not satisfied. -Kim chi chaufa - basic fired rice with the crispy burnt rice at the bottom. For a place this upscale, I wasn't impressed with the restaurant week menu. The food was under whelming. Sad to say that our favorite dish out of all were the egg plant skewers. I would rate 2 for the food but increase due to the view and ambiance. We looked around and saw every table with the pretty sushi box. I expected the menu not to offer all cooked dishes. This would go down as one of our least favorite restaurant week dining experience. No parking in this area so we took an uber. I can't believe we spent over $100 each and left disappointed and hungry.
