Rigo lunch specials ranging from $22-$31. All lunch sets come with a salad and for a cheaper price than ordering ala carte you get a full size entree. Not every item is on the lunch menu so you do have the option to order from the regular menu! My favorite was definitely the chicken shoyu-butter spaghetti. The noodles in all the pastas were cooked just the way I like it and the sauce was very tasty. The portion sizes are just right, leaving you with some room for dessert afterwards. The service was very quick, we did go for a birthday and they don't have anything special for it. This was my fourth visit to Rigo and certainly not my last. The food, service and ambiance have always been first rate. The very first thing that I had at this restaurant was the vongole starter. That sealed it for me and I've been a fan ever since. The consistent thing about the food is the extraordinary flavors the chef develops in everything I've tried. Having said that, please allow me be my hyper-critical self. This time I had the mixed paella from the lunch menu. While the flavor as always was exceptional, I would have liked it to be more moist. Perhaps a splash of their excellent clam broth at the end of the cooking. The only other criticism I can offer is a personal irritation that I encounter in many restaurants. After ordering a particular item have you ever had the waitstaff tell you it was an excellent choice? I'm sorry, I don't need to have my choice approved by anyone. It's my considered choice. One of my favorite restaurants anywhere. From Japan, features a delicious mix of Spanish tapas and Italian food. It is in the shell of a former bank and the vault door is still in the rear of restaurant . The atmosphere is very lively and chic, yet casual attire is totally fine. Service is always great. Wine collection is immense and the bar offers a variety of cocktails including rigo-specific interpretations of classics (Spanish gin and tonic, old fashioned). Food is tapas portions and ideal for sharing and sampling. Of course, the paella is a must. Patatas bravas and Cesar salad were great starters. Very crispy and excellent sauce for the Patatas. I'm not a big fan of calamari in general but rigo does them right--thick cut and delicious aioli dipping sauce. On the Italian side, bolognese and funghi pizza were excellent. Starting off by saying that it's more of an Italian restaurant with a hint of Spanish than a Spanish-Italian fusion. We got the Tortilla and Corstini as appetizers and the Funghi Pizza, Arrabbiata pasta, and Pescatore Rosso pasta as entrees. Everything tasted good and was cooked properly. The pizza was blander than it looked. Also, the king crabs were delicious, but had a very hard time cracking/opening the shell to get to the meat. They left a small opening to get the meat, but wasn't able to get the remaining meat that was underneath the enclosed shell parts. They didn't provide any crab shell crackers or tools so had to forcibly cracked it with my hands. The place was nice and cozy, but came around sunset and the sun was shining right in our faces. Which we just adjusted our positioning, but something you should be aware of. The service was alright, could be better. AMAZING *chefs kiss* I came here with my dad and we kept talking about how perfectly cooked all the seafood hot dishes were. We first started off with the oysters and we jammed those so quickly in the span of a few minutes. The calamari was so soft and tender...it was melting in my mouth. The garlic shrimp negra was so garlicky and salty. It was the perfect addition to our spread. My dad's favorite was the volgone with the garlic parmesan bread. The bread was the best pairing to this dish because it was recommended from our server to dip it into the broth and he was sooooo right. When we tore into the bread, we could see the delicious butter oozing out. The pulvo was good and it was nice flavor change compared to the other dishes. It was covered in this sweet tomato sauce, which was so light and delicious. Lastly, we got the chocolate cassata for dessert and it was the perfect dish to end our dinner. My favorite part of the dessert were the candied walnuts. The taste reminded me of caramel popcorn because it was sweet yet had those hints of like burnt popcorn (but in a great way)! I enjoyed dinner at Rigo with my family to celebrate the birthday of my "baby" sister. My nieces invited me and chose Rigo kinda outta the blue since none of us had ever been here but the menu looked good. There were eight of us in total for our 6:30pm rez on Sunday night. The location is on the mauka (mountain) side of Kapahulu Ave about a block or so past Leonard's Bakery heading towards Waikiki and directly across Safeway. They have valet parking for $5+tip which is good because the lot is pretty small. We were all seated right away and our server brought us water and took our initial drink order. They offer some nice bottles of wine on special at just $33 and others on a pretty fair wine list. I ordered a bottle of a light and fruity red which was just right for the three of us that were drinking. It paired well with the type of Spanish and Italian food items on the menu. Their menu is designed around "family-style" concept (although much smaller portions than Buca di Beppo) and offer a pretty good selection of both Spanish and Italian Tapa style dishes as starters (okay sized for two but a bit small for eight lol) from which we ordered a couple orders each of the Caprese salad (very small), Crostini, Ceviche (using Hamachi) and the Calamari. I love a good Caprese salad and this one was really nice, albeit a very small portion. The Ceviche was everyone's favorite as the Hamachi (yellowtail) was fresh and buttery tasting with a melt in your mouth texture. We then moved on to more substantial dishes with orders of the pasta Arrabbiata, Chicken Porcini Alfredo, the Angus Prime Sirloin, Seafood Paella and a mushroom (Funghi) pizza. After that we were still a bit hungry (did I mention the dishes are a bit small?) so we ordered the Fresh Catch and Scallops which was quite a bit salty for our taste; surprisingly since everything else to that point was nicely seasoned. Unfortunately since there were eight of us, by the time everyone took a little piece, the entire dish was almost empty so it wasn't like they could do anything about it when we brought it to our server's attention. They did bring out a nice piece of cake for my sister's birthday and we also ordered the Tiramisu (amazing and one of the best I've had), Panna Cotta and the Creme Catalana (creme brulee). PINCHO DE ATUN ($9) This appetizer is served on a cute little baguette and topped with tuna, egg, olives and drizzled with an anchovy vinegar sauce. Although it was kind of difficult to eat, it was very good and worth trying! SOLOMILLO CON FOIE ($9) This app is served on a braised daikon topped with grilled angus prime sirloin, foie gras with grated onion sauce and topped off with grana padano. To be honest, this dish was a lot smaller than I anticipated LOL. CARBONARA WITH PORTABELLA FRITTO ($19.50) This is exactly how a carbonara should be! Made with fresh spaghetti and cream, this pasta had nice chunks of pancetta, onion and portabella fritto. Highly recommend this pasta! CHICKEN & PORCINI ALFREDO ($19.50) Another great pasta option, this one has a nice creamy alfredo sauce with chicken and porcini. CREMA CATALANA ($8.50) You always need dessert to end the perfect meal. This dessert is has a creamy custard with a crisp caramelized top! The Drinks. Albamar Cabernet Sauvignon ($29.50). Of course coming here I had to order a bottle of wine. I mean how could you not when they are under $30!! We both enjoyed this bottle because it was a nice full-bodied Cabernet. Definitely recommend! Celebrated Father's Day here and loved eating all the exotic food. I forgot to take a pic of one appetizer because I was hungry and ate it quickly. It was a baked meat dish topped with an egg. Anyway my dish was the lamb chops on a bed of cured vegetables, the other dish was the daily catch plus scallops. Another dish was asparagus. Dessert was awesome - tiramisu was heavenly fluffy chocolate decadence- strawberry Gelato was creamy deliciousness. The coffee was perfect to me and was pleasant and flavorful. Service was smooth and attentive. Spacious parking lot for Kapahulu Avenue and a personable valet man. Love the large red bull head above the bar. Cool cow pillows like i have at home. Celebrating my moms birthday, we stopped into Rigo for lunch. We were quickly seated, but it did take a while for our server to greet us and bring us menus. Menus- I love that their menu offers Italian and Spanish food. We ordered and happily enjoyed: Melanzane Taco pincho de cerdo Calamari fritti Crostini Amatriciana Pizza Bismark Classic tiramisu Banana cheesecake All of the dishes we ordered were very delicious and flavorful ! My two most favorite dishes were the Pizza Bismark ( love that truffle oil) and the banana cheesecake. The only minus from our dining experience was that our server didn't come around often and we had to flag her down if we needed anything. The food came out fast but the drink service was slow. They have a good variety of both on the menu. My friends and I sat and ate (for lunch)for three hours chit chatting and we didn't feel uncomfortable and no one gave us stink eye (Lol!) This is my third time here and food is consistently good. A little bit pricey now due to Covid but it's worth it. We ordered family style and all shared so we could eat a little bit of everything. Several months ago, my eldest sister mentioned that one of her good friends would visit for a couple of weeks and celebrate a milestone birthday. My sister asked me for restaurant recommendations in town since she's more familiar with Mililani and North Shore neighborhoods. One of the first places that popped into my mind was Rigo knowing my sister and her friend weren't wanting Asian or local-style cuisines. Due to the pandemic, we've only returned to Rigo one other time since fellow Elite Christal P's stellar FTR, so we were anxious to return to try Rigo's lunch service. I made reservations via Rigo's reservation system partner, TableCheck, and excitedly waited for our lunch date. I informed my sister that she could park her car in Rigo's private parking lot as it's free parking during the daytime but valet parking at dinner hours. When we arrived, the host informed us that he had seated my sister and her friend for the reservation. My sister said she liked the décor and welcoming vibes. We appreciated that all of the restaurant staff were properly wearing their face masks, and the other guests were seated in the booths, separated by Plexiglas panels. The other diners sitting at the tables in the middle were socially distanced. The host had placed the beverage, lunch, and available menus on the table for us to peruse. Our server, Jenner, took our beverage orders first since we weren't ready to place our food orders. FOOD: - Calamari Fritti: deep-fried calamari battered with semolina, Grana Padano, and ogo seaweed. We ordered the REGULAR portion ($9) to share among the four of us. The calamari pieces were decent size and tender, while the semolina batter was soft and fluffy. I would've preferred a crispier fried batter coating but, that's just me, and we still enjoyed this appetizer. $9 -Mix Paella: Rigo's signature paella featuring shrimp, chicken, and bell peppers. The paellera was evenly filled with flavorful Spanish rice. Still, it seemed that either the rice was cooked separately then laid into the hot paellera or the paellera wasn't searingly hot while the paella cooked inside it because there was hardly any of the tell-tale authentic socarrat beneath the layer of rice. However, the rice texture was relatively firm and dry and not mushy, which is the way it should be. A side salad accompanied the paella and balanced the decadent meal. 22 My sister and her friend ordered the papaya and kale salad for $14, ajillo (shrimp fried in Italian parsley butter) $9, garlic Parmesan bread $5.50, and melanzane $9. They enjoyed their dishes and joined the "Clean Plate Club." Our server, Jenner, was attentive and efficient. She made sure our water glasses and iced teas were refreshed. Also, she promptly cleared our used plates and utensil as unobtrusively as possible. Jenner's pleasant demeanor and food descriptions were more helpful than mine because I've never ordered the papaya and kale salad or melanzane. We were too full to order desserts, but since the restaurant wasn't too busy, we donned our masks and sat for a few minutes more after paying our bill to continue our conversations. But, it's the holidays and folks are celebrating... Anywhoo We started with a sangria and umeshu cobbler. As much as I love umeshu, this was more ice than anything so we ended up getting a bottle of red after we finished our cocktails. One of the best appetizers ever, the crostini is a nice balance to crunchy toast, soft cheese, salty prosciutto, and sweet local honey over fruit. We also had the porchetta which was alright. With Kai's recommendation, we had the paella negra and bolognese. Both were tasty and nice sized portion. Our great server also recommended a bottle of red which paired well with our meal. I don't know why I waited so long to try this restaurant! I can't call it a hidden gem any more, because it seems like everyone knows about it but me. When you walk in, the first impression is that the architectural lines are clean, and simultaneously comfortable. One section even has couches as seats. The bar area is very attractive, and I understand the old bank vault is available for small private parties. The staff was very warm and welcoming. Our server was quick with helpful suggestions. It reminded me of how important the server is to the overall meal experience! The food was really excellent. Portions were adequate, without being so large that you can't enjoy more than one thing. Small plates come in both small and large sizes, so it's easy to adjust for the number of people in your party. For entrees, I had the seafood paella, and M.Y. had the cold noodle pasta, which I would categorize as an Italian version of somen salad! Desserts were a crème brûlée like dish, and panna cotta. Both were very nice. The adult beverage choices were outstanding, with an extensive wine list, including an entire page of reasonably priced (for a restaurant) bottles. There is a small parking lot, however if it is full, like it was when I came for dinner, you can just park across the street at the Safeway and walk over. I'll preface this review by acknowledging that this is a place that serves tapas so I knew the portions wouldn't be large and that the prices would be higher. My girlfriend and I had a reservation and we were seated right away. Once we were given our complimentary waters, we had to wait at least 30 minutes before our order was taken. We were explained that one of the waitresses was unaware that she was supposed to be serving our table. Fine, but even the waiter who had given us our waters passed by multiple times while we still had our menus and said nothing. Throughout our meal as well, we were never checked on. I don't know if it was down to the restaurant or the staff, but I would expect better service from a restaurant with a fine dining atmosphere. On to the actual food. We got the "in Saor" as an appetizer and the seafood paella and the Bolognese. The in Saor was Venetian marinated eel. I was under the impression that it was a hot dish, but it's cold. The flavor was interesting, just not to my liking. I'm not taking stars away for the in Saor because it was my fault for not doing my research. The seafood paella was... Not great. I've had seafood paella from multiple other restaurants and I've been given very large portions. This was not the case at Rigo, which was disappointing. The flavor of the dish was plain as well. Even the shrimp tasted plain. The one redeeming factor for Rigo was the Bolognese. It was tasty and had a flavorful kick to it. I'm giving Rigo two stars mainly for the service and the seafood paella. It probably would have been one star if it weren't for the Bolognese. read more

We celebrated my daughter's 21st birthday at Rigo's and we had a great experience. Our server had the best hospitality - constantly wearing a bright smile and catering to our needs. She was more than willing to accommodate our request for extra crackers to go with the Melanzane, which was part of our appetizer selection along with Taco pinco de cerdo and crostini. Each appetizer was delicious and unique. The entrées continued the high note with everyone around the table expressing satisfaction with their choices. We ordered a variety of dishes to share - a pizza that was a perfect blend of crispy and chewy, the seafood paella that was flavorful, and the carbonara that was rich and creamy topped with crispy bacon. I opted for a mocktail named Golden Tiki to accompany my meal. While the concept was interesting, it leaned a bit too much on the sweeter and sourer side for my taste. But, of course, taste in beverages can be quite personal and others might find it to their liking. When the bill arrived, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the total for our party of six was a reasonable $210 before tip. For the quantity and quality of the food we received, this felt like a good value. I'd return for the good vibes, excellent service, and delicious food. Really like this place. Went here once on my visit last year and returned again this year. The crostini appetizer is the best thing. I am not a papaya fan but together everything tastes amazing and has so much flavor on it. Make sure to get the regular portion as the small is realllly small. The caprese is not bad but is underwhelming small. Definitely not their signature. They had a chilled vegetable appetizer and that also a favorite for me. So much flavor! Felt like eating a vegetable chili. Onto the entrees. Had the carbonara. The pasta was nice an al dente. I wasn't a fan of the crusty mushrooms on top. I added some pepper and balsamic and it added to the dish. The pizza had some good flavor. Did the 4 cheese and added meat, arugula and truffle. I think the arugula took over a bit and would have liked to see more toppings especially given the price it ended up being. Still a great experience, service is always excellent. I have passed this restaurant so many times and did not realize it existed. It's a gorgeous restaurant, which you can't really tell from the outside. I love the decor and it really made me feel like I was someplace else. The service was also phenomonal. They kept refilling our waters even if they give you a bottle of water on the table that you can pour yourself. I ordered the seafood paella and it not only looked great, but also tasted amazing. We went on a day that was very busy so it made sense that it was a bit loud and we had to wait a short while for our food. It wasn't anything crazy and I was content at admiring their loverly interior while we waited. You can also tell how nice a restaurant is by their bathroom (they have the fancy bidets toilets haha). The parking is valet only, which is a relief because they have a tiny lot. It costs $5 which is a fair price to pay if you can avoid dealing with tricky parking. This is a great place if you are not only looking for a tasty meal, but also a memorable experience. I can't wait to visit Rigo again! read more

My sister requested her birthday lunch at Rigo which was great because I was eager to try out the Spanish Italian restaurant in Kapahulu. I easily made a reservation from their website. The restaurant is spacious with high ceilings, large booths, and lots of windows letting in the natural light. In the back, is a more private space with dark couches and wood finish from floor to ceiling. I love the look of this restaurant! The menu is quite extensive. They offer lunch specials, tapas, Spanish josper grilled main dishes, wood-fired pizzas, and homemade pastas. I love pizza and Rigo's pizza is Neapolitan style baked in a Stefano Ferarra brick oven that was hand made and shipped from Naples, Italy! I couldn't resist the salami and jalepeno pizza. My sister ordered the carbonara with portabella fritto - fresh spaghetti with pancetta, onion, fresh cream, egg yolk, pepper, garlic, olive oil and portabella fritto. We both really enjoyed our dishes and would definitely return. Next time, I'd love to check out their wine list to enjoy with my pizza dinner! Second times the charm! The first time I tried Rigo was for take-out and I didn't eat it right away so my judgement was skewed.... luckily I came back again with my friends for dine-in and we got the private room with our own call button! Request for the vault at least a month in advance. The company you come with can really make a difference in the taste of the food because we were really happy with everything we ordered! The stars of the night would have to be the: Crostini: Toasted bread with prosciutto, papaya, mascarpone cheese and macadamia nut blossom honey??? I am not a huge fan of combining sweet and savory but I was pleasantly surprised by how well the flavors meshed together! I ate at least 2-3 of them Funghi Pizza: Can you really go wrong with mushrooms on a pizza? DELISH Carbonara: Super creamy and flavorful!
