My wife left the review below, which is accurate, but I feel Right Way deserves a BIT more credit--Justin was very nice and prompt and fully explained a couple issues he told me to keep my eye on. However, as my wife notes, he couldn't find the gas keyhole for the fireplace and suggested it was maybe hidden behind a wall. He suggested finding a plumber who might be able to find it (he couldn't refer their usual plumber, though), so I was left wondering what to do. I emailed Rich asking him for some advice and he responded once, but then quit responding to my follow-up questions asking him for a recommendation or referral on how to get my fireplace running. So, we called a plumber we found on Yelp, and he came out and found our gas keyhole in 10 seconds, making me feel pretty stupid! I feel Right Way should have been able to find that just as easily...or at least refer me to someone to assist in getting my fireplace functional. That was the whole point after all--I didn't JUST want the cleaning; I wanted someone to walk me through a total update so I could use it. Also, I trust Justin did a fine job cleaning my fireplace, but I'm not sure how thorough a cleaning is supposed to be--it didn't look like anything was done to the chimney, so I hope it's good to go! Anyway, mixed results it seems. And their website is down at the moment, which is doesn't make me feel it's the most professional service either. read more

My husband was looking for someone to both clean our fireplace and install a gas unit in our fireplace....we always use Yelp for everything so we didn't think we would be steered wrong! We recently moved into our home and neither of us have had a fireplace before so we wanted to call an expert to discuss getting the unit in the fireplace and changing out the real life wood the previous owner used. When we had our inspection done, the inspector told us we had a gas line to the fireplace so we knew that we had gas...... However.... the Right Way person cleaned out the chimney and then told us he couldn't find the key and that he couldn't help us anymore and that we would need to find a plumber. He went on to say maybe it was buried in remodels (this place has never been remodeled). Hmmmm... then didn't respond when we asked for plumbing referrals. After finding our own plumber and having him come out - in less than two seconds the plumber found the key.... to the left of the fireplace. I guess we should have been able to identify it, but...we have never owned a fireplace before and didn't know what this "key" was supposed to look like. I'm really confused as to why a supposed professional didn't see it - it is not hidden! It's right there in clear sight by the fireplace!!!! And I'm also confused as to why he didn't offer any more help. All I know is I would never recommend Right Way. I just hope he cleaned the chimney well..... read more

I purchased the Conejo Deal for dryer vent cleaning, and when I read the Yelp reviews and learned that this company also does fireplace conversions, I asked him to look at taking out my ugly gas logs and replacing them with glass, too. This is a job I had been wanting to do for years but did not know who to contact to do it. Rich is very prompt (even early!) and fast. The dryer job was done in no time, and the fireplace job was done in literally 30 minutes, including removing the old stuff, repainting, and adding the new glass. The new fireplace looks great. I don't know how Rich's prices compare to others because I did not shop prices on this job. The price seemed fair, and even if I ended up paying more, I'm happy to do it for a team that shows up when they say they will and do the work fast and professionally. read more

We have used this company in the past with great results. I would not recommend them going forward. No problem with the services they provide. At the same time cleaning a chimney or dryer vent is not rocket science. CONSUMER BEWARE. THIS COMPANY CHARGES A SEPARATE SERVICE CALL FOR ANY THING THEY DO ON THE SAME VISIT. In other words if you have them clean your chimney AND clean your dryer vent during the same day visit they charge for two (2) service calls. Bottom line: when you break down their fees it amounts to $245.34 a hour (or $4.09 a minute). This is usury I called their billing office and they would not adjust the invoice. I have reported them to the Better Business Bureau and to the California State Department of Consumer Affairs. Never will I use or recommend this company again. read more

To begin with, these two men arrived exactly at our appointment time of 1PM, which started us off on a very good foot. Justin took a look into our 40 year old fireplace, went onto the roof and looked at it from up there and noted a few problems. The damper had never worked as long as we've owned this home. He fixed that with some WD40 and persistent jiggling. The crown was damaged allowing water to enter the inner masonry of the fireplace which likely caused the next problem, a crack in the back wall of the firebox. They fixed the crown and the crack as well as added a new spark arrester up there. They did all of this in an hour, were very friendly and professional and left my living room at least as clean as when they got here. They did an outstanding job for us, and are now "our" chimney sweep. read more

Found them on Conejo Deals. When I called to schedule I let them know that I had an expired Conejo Deals coupon. I did try calling before the expiration date but did not receive a call back. I figured they were busy with lots of new customers. I forgot about my "deal" until a year later! I looked them up on Yelp before calling again - and saw all the great reviews. After making my appointment I let them know that I had an expired coupon and wanted to know what the difference in price would be since it was a year old. I did mention that I had tried calling with no return call the previous year. They were very quick to say they would honor my coupon and there would be no extra charge! I was very happy about that. The day of my service I got a call saying they were running a bit early (not late) - and asked if it would be ok to come by sooner. They came right over and wasted no time getting the job done. Hard workers, very quick and precise. Nick was our service guy and he had another helper with him (I didn't catch his name). They were both very nice, polite and efficient. Nick fixed a crack in the rear panel and did a quick repair on a gas pipe connection for me free of charge. Told me what to keep an eye out for in the future so I could get it replaced when needed, I offered to pay them more since my coupon was already expired and they insisted that those repairs were standard and they did not need any extra payment. I can't say enough good things about this experience. It's so hard finding good customer service these days. I would highly recommend this company! On the day of the appointment they called and said they could come a little earlier. Showed up and cleaned and inspected the chimney. They found a few issues and showed us exactly what they were and explained the importance. We had them do the repairs. They were timely, efficient, clean and quick. You will not be disappointed with this company. They also do dryer vent cleaning. We do ours quarterly. It is VERY important to have this done to avoid a devastating fire. We had a leak from the chimney, called Right Way. The service sealed the area and they were able to fix the damper that had been stuck for a very long time as part if the regular service. I called another chimney service and they were going to charge me to come out for an estimate! That was crazy. Right Way Chimney Service came out free and told me only one of my two chimneys needed cleaning. We were going to have cap/spark arresters put on because some of the chimneys in our area had caught fire and burned the houses. When they came out to do the work, the fellow took off the shroud and found we had spark arresters already. I was thankful he was honest and told us we didn't need them. I would never had known. He did charge us for the removal of the shrouds on each fireplace but not the arresters which saved us money. read more

These guys were super helpful! Not only did they clean our chimney as planned, but they went above and beyond to ensure our safety. They noticed a couple of things were not to code with our fireplace that could ultimately cause carbon monoxide poisoning or cause our home to catch fire. Instead of just pointing these problems out to us and telling us we need to arrange to have them fixed they got right to work and fixed them for us! They even took the time to teach me about what it was that needed to be done, the reasons why and showed me how they were going to fix it. Ok, seriously. GREAT guy, great work, GREAT customer service. 1. After I reached out on Yelp for a quote on a gas fireplace whose remote no longer worked, he got back to me within hours. We had a little trouble connecting, but he contacted me several times to make sure we finally spoke. 2. Talked on the phone extensively to diagnose as much as possible to ensure he would ARRIVE with necessary parts thus eliminating the "exploratory" service call and extra fees. 3. Showed up ON TIME, was very nice, took his shoes off coming in the house and spread a sheet down in front of the fireplace - mess-free! 4. When I bought my home the inspector reported the damper would not close. So we never used the fireplace for the last 2 1/2 years. I contacted Right Way to have them come out to fix it. When Rich arrived (on time) he said the unit was an old one and then started to fiddle around with the unit. Within 2 minutes he found a small lever in the front and pushed it. The damper closed!!! There had been no problem at all...ever! I asked him if the fireplace should be cleaned and he said it didn't need it. I asked him how much I owed him for the service call and he said, "Merry Christmas"! Being retired and on a fixed income he didn't know how much that meant to me. No charge. I wish I could give less than 1 star. We hired this company to clean our chimney and we paid them close to $200 for just sweeping our chimney. We did not want to treat the guy like a slave and stay with him to clean it, so we went to the backyard, assuming he would be professional and ethical to do the work he is hired to do. Instead, he stole from us and did not clean the chimney, although he cleaned the ashes from the ground of the fireplace. We have been calling the company to let the owners know, but there is no answer and we have left several messages, they don't return our calls. I will have to report them to the authorities so this company gets investigated. read more

My husband and I bout an older house in Ventura. We had another chimney service come out and tell us it was going to cost $600 to fix our fireplace so that we could burn wood. Rich from Right Way come out and did an inspection. He was nice and even early to the appointment. He took his time looking at everything and said it was fine exactly howit was to burn fire. Very disappointed with the service and their dishonesty. I was was in need of cleaning our chimney, after shopping around We decided to go with Right Way Chimney. Before they came in for the service, I did my own inspection from inside and in the roof. I'm 100% certain that our chimney had a cover for all these years, and I did inspect the cover 1 week prior of the service. The gentleman came in, did what he had to do to clean, total time about 1.5 hours. I had to leave home and asked my wife to pay him. He told my wife that the chimney cover is missing, and there is also a crack in the wall. He gave my wife a quote of $250 for the cover and $195 for the crack repair, I inspected, there is only about 6 inch surface crack. We have lived in this house since 2011, we have used the fireplace every winter, we have been on the roof several times and have seen the nice bronze color chimney cover. We have had windy days, but the cover was never disrupted by the wind, as the chimney man suggested, even if the chimney is taken out by the wind, it will land on our property, as we live on a 1/2 acre. I did not follow the guy as he was cleaning, as I had the trust in him to be ethical. I can also attest that our chimney cover was there before he started to clean, you be the judge! Great experience with this company. We bought a home built over 60 years ago and had Right Way Chimney Service out to do an inspection. We got a reasonable quote for work that needed to be done. We selected to do about half the work. I scheduled and had to reschedule due to circumstances with our home closing, and Right Way was extremely accommodating. They came out and did the services we needed in half a morning and we will use them again when we have the rest of the service completed! read more

Remember when people took pride in their work and ensured that if it wasn't perfect they would make it that way? Well that's the type of service you get from Rich and his crew. We have an old European wood stove and it didn't work for years after we moved into our house. Rich came out, measured, located the parts and fixed the stove! When an issue arose a year later, Rich made time in what I'm sure was a very busy schedule to stop by and help us figure out what to do.
