Never heard from him. Called a week later, told them I hadn't heard anything, confirmed my email with them...they said the guy that came out would call me back, still nothing. We had a great experience with Lon Smith Roofing. Bart came out to give us a bid on Tuesday morning, and by Tuesday afternoon, we had a bid email and phone conversation explaining the service. We had some concerns on flat roof weather being torched down and not being. Bart reached out to us and explained what materials they would be using, and we told him we would do some research and talk with him the next day. We signed a contract with Bart, and there was no pressure to buy extras. (Unlike other companies who added to our bid without asking.) The day before they arrived, I received an email and phone call. Jake was our job site inspector while the roof was being installed, and he returned after to do a final. They laid tarps down to catch most everything that fell off the roof, and they blew off our deck and all of any loose gravel. They were all so great! TL,DR: Lon Smith Roofing (LSR) was thorough in their inspection, assigning of contractors and quality control. I hope you have the same experience when you hire them. Also be careful to put the correct address when sending payment via USPS mail. They are on E. Waggoman St not the opposite. Lon Smith roofing came recommended to me by my mother-in-law Donna Cantu who works for the company and I don't regret the decision of hiring them to install a much needed new roof. The process was long as I wanted to have this service completed when my time and money were right. I was assigned Bart S.when I was referred in July of 2021. He guided me through the following; the preliminary process of a roof inspection, helping me select an option that was more affordable and practical then what I wanted, the selection of a roofing shingle color that would match my neighborhood, preparing approval for the Home Owners Association and how to properly starting the insurance claim. I waited a few months after our first meeting for the right time in my schedule as well as waiting for the approval of an unresponsive Home Owners Association (HOA) by the name of Wind Ridge Estates under the management of Goodwin & Co. Around October of 2021, I decided to proceed with the next step as I was not going to wait any longer for my HOA and their management company to respond. Twice was enough and so I scheduled an appointment with my insurance company claims adjuster. Their findings were exactly the same as Lon Smith Roofing and very quickly approved to pay for a new roof. Note that Bart S. was armed with pictures of damage from the roof and other evidence in case they said no. The approval process was also made simple by my insurance company and construction could begin. I was called by the LSR office to schedule an install and we decided on December of 2021. They worked around my schedule and were able to send the contractors on a day I could be home to receive materials. They were respectful about the Christmas and New Year holidays and didn't leave materials in the way of my driveway for long in case I had company. LSR instructs all of its contractors to take the time to protect and cover the areas they will be removing roofing material and nailing. They used tarps that stretched all around my home in the front, back and side yards. The contractors even took a large piece of foam cushion and covered the compressor of my air conditioner. Although the contracts LSR signs leaves LSR harmless to damage during the installation of a new roof they still take responsibility of ensuring to not deliberately damage items around my home. The precautions taken caught most of the material removed.The process took from 7AM to 4PM, an entire day of work with a large team of 6. Around 1PM half of the team left to another job, still the work was done with quality. I was greeted by a project inspector of LSR around 2PM just 2 hours before the job finished and he walked me around the property ensuring I was happy with the quality of work. I was embarrassed that I didn't pick up all of the dog poop before so while they were cleaning up I did that quickly. They also cleaned up very well by walking around the entire house with large magnets to ensure all nails were retrieved. The payment process was tricky but LSR was very understanding as I had to have my mortgage company sign the first of two insurance checks. It was a pain especially since it took months for my mortgage company to endorse my check. I did mess up after I received the check and sent it to LSR on W. Waggomon St. instead of the correct E. Waggomon St. Special thank to the Ft. Worth Post Office for helping me correct my error. My roof looks amazing especially since the old one was original to the home. I do highly recommend Lon Smith Roofing as the process was made simple especially during a pandemic. read more

DO NOT do business with Lon Smith Roofing!!! We first worked with Paul Stewart, the estimator. He was very kind at first. He gave the whole speech about the company being in business for several years. He present me with a rehearsed presentation with copies of the company's certificates, licenses, insurance, A+ with the BBB, anything you can think of just to make Lon Smith look good. Being that he was an older man, I thought he actually cared about providing exceptional service to a family and fixing our the right way. Boy I was wrong! No dignity at all!!! They will say what they can to earn your business, but when they have you locked in on their contract, the quality of service and care goes down hill. Paul also did an estimate for the hail damage on our fence along with the roofing. He told me had would send that information in to the insurance company and help us with getting that fix. PAUL WAS NOT CLEAR WITH ME THAT LON SMITH ROOFING DOES NOT POWER WASH AND RE-STAIN FENCES. Instead, he gave me a guy's number and told me to reach out to him. When I spoke to that person, he informed me that Paul told him that I filed an insurance claim, and for him to work with the dollar amount from the insurance company, and to figure something out. After speaking with that person, he did not feel comfortable to move forward. I reached out to Paul again and asked him if there was another company he would recommend me to. Paul had the audacity to google companies to send me pictures of their numbers. That's slap in the face. Had I known that Lon Smith did not provide service in that area, I would have went with another company. I know other companies would appreciate our business not like this company. Paul Stewart and Lon Smith Roofing is not transparent about business! The inspector David Grassmann and the crew under their chief Bethany Sanchez provided no better service than Paul. The crew threw trash and debris all over my flowerbed. Sad to say, David is not a sincere person either. 16 weeks after Lon Smith Roofing installed our roof, the wooden side panel of our home has fallen out. As you can see from the picture, the wooden panel touches the roof line that was worked on our home. The same inspector David Grassmann came out to look at the damage. He made an assumption that someone removed the panel and tried to hammer it back to place. He said he can tell by the nails on the wood. That is ridiculous consider Lon Smith Roofing's crew have been the only ones on our roof!!!! David put in a work order to get that repair, including that information of someone removing and replacing that panel, and the work order got denied. Of course it would be denied!!! David lied on the work order. Nobody removed and tired to replace the panel. How can he tell me damages did not occurred from the crew, when he wasn't even up on the roof. Lon Smith Roofing needs to be held accountable for the damages. Customers should not have fear hiring a contractor, with an end result, that company ends up creating more damages. If you've lived in North Texas long, you've probably had your roof repaired or replaced, usually due to hail and/or high winds. I've had at least 4 roofs in 2 different houses the best I can recall. In Texas, roofing companies are not licensed like plumbers and electricians. So due diligence is recommended when you need a roofing company. The first thing I did was call my insurance agent. She gave me a list of 3 or 4 that she has had experience with and so the search begins. I ended up with Lon Smith Roofing in Fort Worth for several reasons. First and perhaps foremost, they've been in business since 1974. Second their BBB report is exemplary. Third they are a recommended company on several internet sources. I first met with Thomas who provided an estimate for repairs. This had to be compared to what my insurance estimator had provided but there were no issues there. After a couple of conversations with Thomas, I was convinced that an upgraded shingle was worth the extra money. After speaking with my insurance agent, I also discovered I would be saving a considerable amount on my home owner's policy. Enough to cover the cost of the upgrade in 2 years! Not to mention, less likely to be damaged in the future. Another savings (deductibles!) Another surprise was it is quieter. One morning I went outside to get the paper and found it was raining...hard. I didn't even hear it inside. Thomas was easy to work with. I was able to schedule the installation when I was going to be out of town. You don't want to be inside your house when a new roof is installed. After the installation was complete, I found the yard clean and free of debris. The flower beds were protected although I did find one flower stem bent. I then received a call and visit from David who was the on-site supervisor and quality control inspector. He asked to come inside to make sure none of the vents (HVAC, water heater) to the roof had come loose during the installation. They hadn't. I showed him a few cracks and nail pops that had appeared. He took pictures and had repairmen out to repair them the next week! Lon Smith Roofing did a fantastic job replacing our roof. From beginning to end, our contractor, Beau was professional, knowledgeable and responsive. They gave us a competitive quote for the replacement cost, stayed on schedule and remained on the job until the work was complete. When the roofers arrived on Day 1, they covered our pool, hot tub and everything else that might get damaged. They worked hard into the evening to get the job done in a timely manner. Did the yard get messy? Absolutely! Was it noisy? Of course! Embrace it! That's part of the job. Personally, I enjoyed hearing the sounds of progress, along with the music and the chatter of happy workers. When the new roof was installed and that part of the job finished, my yard was clean and damage-free... no nails and no trash. A few days later they came back to install the gutters and finalize the job. The color roof and gutters complimented our brick color perfectly. In fact, the gutters are so similar in color they fade into the background and look great! Payment was also easy. Awesome people and awesome workers! I was declined 3 times by Allstate on a wind damage claim to my 36' x 14' flat tar roof on my room addition and patio. I had to get an outside adjuster and fight through getting what I should have in the beginning. I did get the money, but I left Allstate after the claim was done. This was about 2 years ago. I've had the roof replaced twice in the 20 years since it was installed. Lon Smith's people did by far the most solid, professional and best looking job, including the original install. The guys were all great to work with, too. They also have other quality contacts for sheetrock and other work that they don't do, but they shared with me. I appreciated this as I also needed interior repairs and got them done at a reasonable price. They've since been out for a free check on my primary roof for hail damage and recommended not replacing it yet. I can't thank them enough for all they did for me, working with insurance, coming out several times to meet and talk to adjusters, and to get it installed, and all the extras. You're my guys! I have to give a low rating because when someone says they finished the job - you expect it to be done. My roof repair was minor. You could look out the window and see the drip edge that was suppose to be installed was not there. They sent someone out to inspect, agreed the work was not completed - then much later sent someone to finish the work. read more

What is dependable is that EVERY TIME I pause listening to WBAP (820 AM) on iHeartRadio due to a phone call or other interruption, I have to sit through their dumb commercial before I get the radio feed back. This has nearly completely ruined the radio experience. We felt comfortable choosing them because they provided the Supplier "LIEN WAIVER" Letter, the general liability insurance certificate, and financial stability letter. They are certified installers, have been in business for many years, and were the only company not to require cash up front. Jon Parish did not ask to see what our insurance offered first and provided an estimate that nearly matched what our insurance company agreed to pay. While the roofing portion of my insurance claim and experience with Lon Smith went rather smoothly, their ability to handle the window replacement portion of my claim was abysmal. Three confirmed appointments where the contractor no showed and one day where an unidentified contractor showed up, with no identification, couldn't connect himself to Lon Smith, etc. my window is still not fixed and has taken over three months to attempt to resolve. Ultimately, we have ended our agreement with no remorse or reparations from Lon Smith and I now must go source another vendor to complete the repairs to my home. Lon Smith did a very good job on my parents' new roof. Kelly, their estimator, was very knowledgeable and friendly when he came out. The roofing team showed up as scheduled and worked basically daylight until past sunset and finished the job in one day. We had to wait for quite a while for the work to be started, but it was understandable due to the number of damaged houses in our area after a recent storm. Prior to signing up with Lon Smith we were told how the work would be completed, such as protection of landscape, keeping a clean work area, cleaning up upon completion, etc... but that's not exactly what transpired. They made no effort to protect the landscape, the non-work related trash (i.e. fast food wrappers, drink bottles, etc) piled up to the point that it started blowing around the neighborhood, they threw roofing materials off the roof and punctured my trash can and tore a hole in my outdoor grill cover, they unscrewed the satellite dish and let it "dangle" by the cable for a couple of days and it didn't work thereafter (had to call the service provider and have them fix it), they completed the roof on the house and promptly sent me an invoice without re-roofing the shed and replacing the base plate on the weather vane (which were itemized work items on the contract), then after a week or so they returned to finish the work. Upon completion, they literally "dragged" a magnet around the perimeter of the house to pick up nails, but it has been easy for my 2-year-old to find numerous nails throughout the yard. The finished product seems to be good but it didn't progress the way they had explained prior to signing a contract. read more

Just got our quote for a new 3-tab asphalt shingle roof. Alan K made sure that the estimate tracked line-for-line with the Insurance Inspection. He said that would made it a slam dunk for getting the Insurance company to consider the repairs complete and release the "recoverable depreciation" portion of the insurance. He explained that if there were line items on the insurance inspection that did not show on the roofing contractor estimate, the insurance company might not consider the new roof to have been "complete". Better than that, he noticed that the exhaust turbines were too small for the area of the roof and did not meet FHA spec. His estimate upgraded the hot air exhaust system to meet current FHA spec for NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE. - Another reviewer (Melanie Y.) was not actually a customer of Lon Smith. How does someone like that get to review someone? She was offended that they started too early in the morning! So she gave them a "one star" rating and had the brass to say, "Shame on Lon Smith for starting work before 6:40 AM." Is this person for real? Not a customer, but feels empowered to criticize someone else from her neighborhood for hiring them! Bet me a dollar that her neighbor gave them a 5-Star rating for completing the work in a single day! - Anyway, my wife works with someone who previously worked for Lon Smith. His opinion? "Lon Smith is a very large company. Obviously, some people feel slighted that their contract isn't the do-all-be-all of construction. Lon Smith is an honest company. Bonded, Insured, rated by Home Advisor, Angie's List, Yelp, and a top-rated business by the BBB." - When I researched their Supply Chain recommendations, their foremen are trained by Owens-Corning, Tamko, GAF, Certain-Teed, Atlas, etc. - We are going to sign the contract and let Lon Smith do a complete re-roof of our home. There I was, in the midst of destruction. Roof missing. Called lon smith. Several times later was told very busy no sales folks available. Was told by a friend with same problem that lon smith came out same day then again with follow up and decided to go w/another company due to price. - I called and lady asked where do you live. All the other times I said Haltom but this time I said Colleyville. Lady said we have a rep that can be there same afternoon. Gave her address then called back on wife's phone and same question only Haltom, oh nope we don't have anyone available. - I received a call from the field guy and he said I cannot find your address on the map. I asked where he was now, he said near NE mall in hurst. I said perfect, hop on 121 south you'll be here in 6 minutes, haltom city. He said ok. An hour later he wasn't answering his phone. - I called the office. Same routine. She said, we don't have a person available. - Asked for manager, dude on phone already has attitude. Tell him and he says cannot help. I said just looking for ballpark price on 3000 sqrt roof. He said $24,000. Yes you read right. I called another company a week later they showed up handled everything with insurance and did it for $5200 in day and a half. Pretty disappointed in LS but glad I wa$nt one of their victims. read more

Our house was hit by a tornado a few months back. It was right before the E5 hit Garland and Rowlett. I was still waiting to hear back from my insurance claim when tornados tore through North of Dallas. I thought it would be impossible to get my minor repairs done at a time when every roofing contractor was being called to an area of total devastation. Lon Smith took my call and within 48 hours had an Esitmator on site climbing my roof. Their estimate was much lower than expected and within a week they were on site and completed. I felt terrible tying up a contractor with my minor repairs when two towns over they were completely devastated. Lon Smith assured me they were not pulling resources from that area and were able to meet the needs of both of our communities. I pray this is my first and last experience with a tornado, but I can tell you I would call Lon Smith again without hesitation. read more
