From start to finish the service only took about 45 minutes and they were even trying to work quietly to be courteous to my sleeping children. When they pulled out my washer/dryer unit they even cleaned the floor and wall behind it. I know it sounds silly but seeing the grime and lint that I couldn't reach was driving me nuts and now it is sparkling clean! I bought a Conejo Deal for Right Way to come clean my dryer vent and my chimney. The guys arrived early, but waited until out appointment to knock on the door (very prompt). They were very respectful, took off their shoes for my newly cleaned rug. I actually have 2 chimneys so I asked if both needed cleaning. I live in a gated community in Calabasas and when people see my house I usually expect them to up the price of things. But these guys were so honest. They took a good look at both chimneys and told me only one chimney needed cleaning. They went on the roof to check that my "clean" chimney was looking good up top (I thought rats may be coming in). I consider that above and beyond what was expected. They did a great job cleaning and made sure to vacuum all the dust from the dryer vent so it wasn't in my driveway (and they kindly asked me to move my car so it wouldn't get filthy). I cannot recommend them enough - really - I was so grateful for their honesty and cleanliness. They were friendly and did a perfect job. Excellent friendly service. Had him come out to service my gas only fireplace as it wasn't working and I didn't know why. We had just moved into a new house and never had a gas only fireplace before. He not only very quickly fixed the problem but he also taught me how it worked and how to do the simple fix (reset) on my own if it happens again. He talked to me about what to expect from the unit and what options were in the future when it (eventually-long term) needs replacement. They are really the best! I could see a rusted unsightly top on my chimney and knew I needed to fix it to go with my newly painted home. I texted photos of it to three companies. Right Way was the only one to tell me that what I had was only decorative and could get away with just removing it! They even said that I get my onsite construction guys to do it. We recently had to replace our fireplace because the chimney was cracked so bad it couldn't be repaired. In the estimate we received, the permit charge was $600. We found out from the city inspector that the permit was only $154. If we would have been told by Right Way that we were being charged for labor to pick up the permit, we would have picked up the permit ourselves. So make sure you ask about this charge if you decide to use Right Way. Also, when it came to the final payment, he had me write a check to another company. With Right Way you can use a credit card, with this other company we couldn't. I didn't know we would be dealing with two companies. Once we paid Right Way their portion, he wouldn't return our calls. He also didn't get all the required permits so that delayed the final inspection. By that time we had paid Right Way what they wanted so the other company had to deal with getting the needed permit and final inspection. I have a feeling we were cheated on the type of switch to turn our new gas fireplace on and off as it is a regular on/off switch. No way to make the gas go low or high without using a key in the wall to adjust it. Also a wall had to built to cover the gas fireplace from the back, it's 3" deeper at the top than at the bottom. I believe that happened because they cut too big of a whole in the ceiling and had to cover it up. I could have insisted they tear it down and do it right, but this job took 4 weeks and it wasn't worth the time it would take to redo it. My advise, make sure the estimate spells out all the labor and supplies, if you will be paying more than one company and all permits are on file. read more

The details: The appt was at 3:00 (note the absence of a broad "window"). They got here at 2:55. I thought I needed both of my chimneys cleaned. They told me I could go another year before cleaning one of them. (Is there an antonym for "hustler"?) They were polite and professional, very knowledgable about all things chimney, and eager to explain to my inquiring mind. (Don't you love when people are masters of their craft, whatever that craft may be? How rare...) They taped the seams of the stovepipe before they swept it, and they cleaned the outside as well as the inside.
